I'm seriously considering purchasing the T-mobile Note II (SGH-T889), but I realize that it has some hardware variations compared to the international version and other US versions. If I want to flash a ROM, will I have to find one specifically made for the T-mobile variant or will I be able to use any of the ROMs in the development section? Will developers simply make them universally compatible?
T Mobile t889 roms only that's not to say a little while down the road the devs won't be able to find out how to flash ROMs across variants

I have a Samsung Mesmerize on USCC now and not much as yet in Modding choices. Thinking about tradeing to Desire.
Is the Desire like the Galaxy S in that all carriers have different systems and require specific ROMS and or modifications need to be carrier specific.
I do see some here that do have USCC in the title.
Anyway long story short. If I do trade out, am I limited in the ROMS that will work to specific USCC ones or will most ROMS work across platform.
Thank you.

Hello,
Since there is no custom rom for LTE, i was wondering what is the reason behind that. Are the firmware files for the N7105 device not available or is the source closed unlike N7100. I am currently looking to buy the LTE version, however if the custom rom wont come i will rather go for the N7100 version.
Cheers
PS: I have never owned an android device before and currently use the Nokia N900 (running maemo linux)
1) There is a stock, rooted, deoxed rom available.
2) Samsung have hindered asop development at every pass so support is low.
3) Touchwiz is VASTLY improvesd. No where near perfect but most people are happy.
4) The devs are busy working on the 7100 which is understandable so give them time.
5) The other idea is a patch to make n7100 work. (But it's looking like the changes are more than skin deep.)

I'll be looking to list any XDA N7105 ROMs on my site when they are available. I'm picking up my Note 2 this Friday 16th November.:good:
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to buy one (off contract...sigh) but want to make sure I know what I'm getting.
There seems to be conflicting information in multitasking on the US Note 2's.
I know when it was released, there was no multitask, but that a recent software update enabled such "premium" features.
However in reading some threads on this forum, it seems that some people are using custom roms because they can't multitask?
Has AT&T phones not officially have this update yet?
Thanks for any info!
MultiWindow? Yes, its available on stock.
G●Note~2 {Jedi X5}
No it is not available on stock AT&T yet. Several of the devs have ported the International rom which gives you the multi window capability.

This will apparently be a feature tomorrow 12/27/12 according to Engadget.

I have the S3, and S4's 441 ppi Screen is tempting me, but won't our GS3, have those features through a ROM? So should I upgrade or not?
Probably not. Unless you want Touchwiz running on the latest and greatest android build the GS4 is probably not the best way to go if you already have a GS3. Not to mention all those new features will be gone the minute you flash an aosp ROM. So YES if you want Toichwiz on the latest android version (4.2.2) but NO if you're an aosp guy or if you can handle waiting for the new features to be released on the GS3.

If in fact our tmobile s3 do not have an LTE radio then I myself might switch. I currently have the note 2 as well and I'm not 100% happy with either phones.

hmm feel like not worth to upgrade it
too few improvement
S4 is too much like the note 2.
Only plus for me is the quad core.
Transmitted from my SGH-T999.
I'll be upgrading to an S4, without replacing my existing S3 phone.
Outside the 1080P display, the TV remote and some biometric sensors, I'll have the same phone!
Samsung has already been quoted as releasing the software apps that do not require specific S4 hardware for the S3 and Note II. Look for it later this year.
Well if you're getting it for development don't count on many also Roms as cm team have already mentioned that they are not supporting the gs4. :/

I'm in the market for a new device. My S3 is dying, and I want to get a new device. I am aware that the Nexus 5 and other smartphones are coming out, but they won't have the ROM maturity that I'd get from day one with either a S4 or HTC One. So, my question is as follows:
Which phone has better ROM support at this point, the S4 or the One? What I mean by support, is that which one would be more stable, and more "open". I know they are both Qualcomm, so I'd imagine they'd be equally as stable and open.
Thanks for any suggestions/advice!
Both are excellent phones and you can't go wrong with either one. Your decision should depend on the top three or four things you want from a phone. Both have reputable devs and themers. I originally wanted the HTC one, but I'm very happy with the s4 (either on stock TW or GE)

The T-Mobile s4 has more devs and roms.
