[Q] Please a noob to android - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just got my first android phone, and I am new to android.
I have managed to root it and install some aps. I have two problems.
First: I have installed note 2 hidden settings, and turned of camera sounds ,but multiple shutter sound still plays, normal capture doesn't.
Second have installed Xposed installer and CyanLockScreen but for some reason I don't have 4*4 patterns on anything else, everything is like before
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

Hello,
I would like to say that I didn't activate the CyanLockScreen in modules, but after I did I can't change the settings as I get "Settings has stopped working" messages, so I have to deactivate it.
Also does anyone know what this icon (in my taskbar) means?

That icon is the security policy updates.Get titanium backup and un install "security policy updates". That icon would go away.

Get a root file manager like es file explorer or root explorer and navigate to /system/media/audio/ui and rename shutter.ogg and shuttermultiple.ogg to shutter.ogg.bak and shuttermultiple.ogg.bak and no more camera shutter sound on single shutter & multiple shutter usage

[APP] S-Voice on SII + How-To Guide!

The S3 firmware has been out for a while and it comes with lot of suprises! Like it is 1GB in total!
Another surprise is that it comes with S-Voice and Many more features! Currently, I have tested S-Voice on AOSP ROM (SGS2! DUH!)
On to the How-To guide:
Things Needed:
AOSP or CM9
APKs package from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662050 (All APPs are included so that you can play and test all of them if they work)
Patience
Process:
Just Find the voicetalk.apk and put it on your device.
Make sure Third-Party Apps are allowed to install!
Now go to that apk with a File Manager on your device.
Then just install it as a normal apk and there you go!
Congrats you have S-Voice!

It's kinda slow due to slow connection between Samsung servers but still it's Awesome!

Hum fine !
But now, you've got to edit somes files to make it works. --> Or 'Network Error'

Go in Root Explorer, open /system, edit the "build.prop".
Replace all "GT-I9200" by "GT-I9300", and "galaxys2" by "galaxys3".
Then Reboot.
After That, all Right, and let's play !

Actually Samsung has busted S-Voice for the unofficial devices other then Galaxy S3, so this actually doesn't work. To fix it replace GT-I9100 values in the build.prop file to GT-I9300 to cheat Vlingo's servers.

Try here, All credits go to MyLifeRocks10 for the link, its one where you dont need to change build prop. Also Ive found that disabling the wake up command stops the FC i was getting, and i havent had a network error since.
i think changing build.prop will cause market errors

Help with LMT

I have recently rooted my Boost Mobile Android 4.1.2 Version GC01 Samsung Galaxy S2 (Epic 4G Touch) and I am trying to install LMT/Pie control onto my phone. I have tried several version of the program and even after a successful install and giving it superuser access I can still not manage to get the gestures to respond to anything I do or even open the pie. I have fiddled with the settings and still cannot get it to work.
Is anybody familiar with the the tool and able to help a noob?
You have to push it to system/app, download ROM Toolbox Lite and use the root browser... Questions and help go in Q&A

I just did that and I still get nothing. The app opens and I have access to the various settings but pie, gestures, and ISAS do not respond to anything I do.

You gave to set the correct permissions then reboot... Also make sure you are setting LMT as default launcher
Mine looks the same, it is in the system folder, but something still is not right. I even downloaded Home Switcher and the only thing it is picking up is TouchWiz home.

Go to App Manager, hit Menu, hit Reset App Preferences, hit Home key... It should give you the option of LMT as your launcher, provided you have rebooted to install the app after setting permissions.

Nothing below "System Update", that is the last package on the list. Nothing else to scroll to.
This is a Verizon Note 7. Anything else I need to disable?
Type in the name of the file where it says update (search bar).

Nothing.
Apparently 3/4 of those packages just don't exist on my Verizon phone...
I hope that means I'm safe.
Strange. Assume you've scrolled through to find it (alphabetical).

Yep, I've done that.
I'd be tempted to check the two System updates (which I don't have) in your post #5

[Mi10T Pro] App selection stopped working. I am looking for help

Hello
This is my first post so please be understanding.
I have been using the phone from the beginning as a regular user. I haven't made any modifications or changes to it (like root change etc.)
Recently, the official update of MIUI to version 13.0.8 appeared and after that the application selection stopped working. I had no problems with the phone before.
For example: An attempt to open a pdf file brought up a window with a list of various applications that handled the file. The same thing happened with other files or URLs. I have several browsers, so depending on what I wanted to open the Internet address with, I indicated the right choice.
Now the window shows up, but trying to tap the three dots immediately brings up a random app, each time a different one, no additional window pops up. No list of any apps expands.
I thought that maybe the problem will solve itself after resetting the phone. I set everything up again, did not restore any backups. Unfortunately, the problem is the same. I don't have any default settings.
What can be done? The problem is very irritating. I have no idea.
Apart from this problem, everything else works fine.
I will appreciate any help or suggestions
Screenshots are in Polish, if necessary I can translate.

Hello, I suffered from the same bug for a long time until I found the culprit.
You just have to uninstal updates of the Xiaomi Mi Browser (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mi.globalbrowser). Sadly it can't be easily uninstalled. Maybe it can be done with ADB, but I have not tried yet. Remember to disable automatic updates from the PlayStore to avoid it to update. This will cause the bug again.
I also suffer other bugs like an ugly and forced dark mode when the battery is below 40%. I was always tempted to install a custom ROM, but the stock camera features (manual focus, lens distortion correction, 108 MPX, zoom...) are important for me.
Thanks for the help. This solved part of the problem. Now I have a choice when opening files but still no choice when opening URLs.
Maybe someone else?
