So Sunday I rolled into our family favorite Honda dealership, and I rolled out with a 2012 Honda CR-V AWD EX-L. Didn't get the Navigational system, as per reviews it looked outdated and cheesy, and I have the Galaxy Nexus official car dock with charger coming from expansys any day now.
Paired the phone at the dealership, and was able to play some music. But the connection dropped briefly, causing music to play out of the phone. Then about 20-30 seconds later it reconnected, and a few seconds later the music played out the car speakers.
Didn't think too much of this, but I drove it home and the next day noticed the disconnect / reconnect issue was pretty consistent. And every time it happens, you can't control the Radio or do other things, cause the screens talking about the connection prevent changes. Not life or death, but certainly annoying on occasion.
Yesterday, I determined that by connected an AC Adapter to the phone, the disconnects go away and things work normally. That was a pleasant surprise, and while I don't want to take the phone out of my holster and connect it EVERY time I get in the car, at least I have a work around, right?
The odd thing is, this never happened with my Sony BT Car Deck I had in my Civic. Obviously it wasn't a stock solution, but when the volume knob on the stock deck was failing, a new stock deck was $400. I got the Sony solution for $150 installed at Circult City, and it had bluetooth which allowed me to make and take calls, stream music, etc.
The only catch I've found so far is the car seems to inquire about me transferring my contacts into the car so the phone book is available through the dash. But every time I click allow... it doesn't seem to do anything and the message shows shortly again in the "notification bar" of the phone. I'm ignoring it for now.
I did root the phone and apply the 4.04D update, then the system update saw the 4.04I update and applied that. Wondering if a factory reset might not put me back to 4.01 or something, but might not resolve this issue. Unless I have any advice, I think that's what I'll try next.
I thought about updating the baseband radio, but as I didn't install CMW or anything, pushing the radio update is a little more work that I'm ready for at the moment.
Thanks to any who took the time to look at this. Best wishes!!!
Little update. I had unlocked my phone, but hadn't properly rooted it, flashed the ROM, etc. Took me a while this morning, but I rooted it, installed CWM on the recovery partition, and then updated the radio to UGLA4.
Despite the above, the car still "drops" the BT connection about once every two minutes, and then makes the connection again about 10-20 seconds later. If the phone is plugged into the car so it has extra power, the connection stays up and reliable until it is unplugged or the car is turned off.
Not sure what to try next, if Honda doesn't have a BT update for the radio in this car. Here's hopiing!!!
FIXED!!! So here is the problem AND the solution.
Dunno why, but something about the default bluetooth.apk that is in the Galaxy Nexus, even after the 4.0.4 update was NOT working between my phone and my CR-V.
The "hint" to the fix was found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14249943&postcount=11
After killing this process, my connectivity issue between phone and car disappeared. But the phonebook STILL wouldn't update.
Feeling I was getting somewhere, I did searches for the BluetoothPbapService, and so forth. After some looking, I finally found THIS site. http://forum.android-rsap.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=221
I had unlocked my phone once, but hadn't rooted it properly. While trying to fix this issue, I'd rooted it, installed the CWM recovery menu, and tried a couple different "broadband" software packages that control the radio. That hadn't fixed the problem, but I COULD use Root Explorer with SU rights afterward.
So I downloaded the file for Android 4.0 to the Downloads folder on my GN. Then I created a new folder on the SDCard called backup. I moved the Bluetooth.apk and .odex files that were in /system/app into that directory, moved the .apk file I downloaded from that site back into /system/app, and made sure the permissions were as directed. Then I rebooted the phone.
Once down at my car, I removed ALL Bluetooth profiles from the car, clearing the BT settings completely. And then I deleted the BT profile from my phone. Then I turned on BT on the phone, pressed the phone button on the dash, and paired the phone as before. Only THIS time, the phone paired normally, didn't disconnected, and when I clicked phonebook, it seemed to do nothing as before. But a SECOND click on Phonebook, and instead of trying to download again... I GOT LETTERS to lookup names!!!!!
I tried a couple calls, and people didn't answer, but I can call and use the BT in my car normally!!! OH HAPPY DAY!!!
Took the CR-V in, got my proper plates put on, they washed the car for me (looks great!), and I ran a few errands. Having sat around doing laundry and watching Batman Begins, I wondered about getting the Media option on my Galaxy Nexus to disable like I'd tried in the past. That way, I can listen to the radio, but if I'm using my turn-by-turn directions over Google Maps, I can her Nav instructions through the phone.
I did a BUNCH of searching, and lots of people had similar issues. But one one had found a way to disable the "media" part of the Bluetooth stack. Remembering some people found that killing the PBAP process of the Bluetooth stack in Apps allowed them to sync their phone to their car, I wondered if it would help with my media issue. So I disabled it and went down to the car.
At first, there was no difference. Media went through the car, and nothing was any different. I unpaired the phone from the car, cleared the car BT setup from all devices, and started over. Once again it popped up as it always had, and I tried telling it NOT to pair every time automatically, but don't pop the HandsFreeLink message. This didn't seem to work, as the phone would disconnect and reconnect as it had in the past.
Frustrated, and ready to give up, I cleared the pairing on both sides, and went to put it back how I started. But when I cleared the car and went to pair again, I added my Galaxy Nexus, and waited for the message to come up about pairing going forward. It never came. And ironically, the car was NOT paired for media, just the phone.
Feeling brave, I connected the phone to the car with the media checkbox. It connected, and I was able to play a song through the car stereo. Figuring it wouldn't disconnect, I tried anyway... and it DID! I then turned off the phone, and off the car. Turned the phone on, the car back on, and everything KEPT working!!!
Obviously, I need a little more testing to be certain. But lt looks like I may have stumbled across a setting or something that allows me to use the phone however I wish. And that is a VERY good feeling.
Have no issues in a '12 Civic. You know, other than the recall.
Well, I'm back to having trouble.
Upgraded to Jelly Bean. Love the voice search which works great for me, the speed is still excellent, etc. But even after replacing the bluetooth stack the way I did in 4.0.4, I can't permenantly disconnect bluetooth audio for MUSIC through the phone. I've tried the usual fixes as above, and it just ALWAYS stays connected, assuming the car is on, and bluetooth on the phone is enabled.
SO FRUSTRATING, as then I can't listen to the radio AND use my turn-by-turn directions!!!
The wife and I have been troubleshooting this problem ourselves with weird results.
We purchased GNex's from Bell in Canada at the same time (yakjuux builds). About a month later, we leased a 2012 CR-V. Her phone has always had this connect/disconnect issue, while mine hasn't. We have returned her phone to both Bell and Samsung on separate occasions; all they have done is flashed it and sent it back. Of course that hasn't solved the problem. Provincial law in Newfoundland requires the use of hands-free when on the phone while driving, so this is issue is more than just an annoyance.
I got tired of waiting on Bell and Samsung Canada to get their act together with 4.1.1, and recently rooted my phone and moved it to a 4.0.4 takju build in order to get the system update. No problems with any of that, and it works with our CR-V, same as it always has. We hoped that doing the same to her phone would put this issue to bed once and for all, but after having run hers through the same process this evening, it still does the same trick of connecting and disconnecting endlessly (unless you force-stop the phonebook service, of course).
Now that both phones are rooted, I'm about to try copying my Bluetooth.apk on to her phone and seeing if that fixes anything.
Hi,
I have just bought and fitted a Eonon GA2114 Android unit
I have one or two issues please, and would really appreciate some help
1. When I hold the power button to shut the unit down, it says 'shutdown' for a second and the screen goes dark. When I power it on again it comes on immediately as if the stereo is switched on all along, just with the screen dimmed. (It does not boot up Android) - I should mention it is fitted into a campervan running off a leisure battery. Shouldn't make any difference I'd have thought but it is a permanent battery connection (No ignition on/off) is this a clue? I wondered if it was to do with the ACC wire if so?
2. When I do 'wake up' the Car Unit it seems to take quite a few seconds or so to 'prepare the SD card' - this can only refer to my permanently connected USB drive full of music (Via the rear of the unit) - surely this should be ready to use immediately the car stereo is on? It means I can't just switch on, and play music. Any ideas please as it is very annoying?
3. A brief one, what is the best locally stored Android music player to use please? for car use that is?
Many thanks for your hep
I must admit I am a little surprised to have no replies so far? Anyone pls?
Hi, is there anyone that can help me with this please. many thanks?

Does the unit come with root, if it doe you could download a reboot app, most require root to function.
I don't believe these units actually shutdown, just go into standby mode, you cab check with the ENON techs.
No root as far as I am aware, a good idea otherwise thank you. I am still unable to fully power off (Or reboot) the unit. It seems to draw a lot of power and will drain the Leisure Battery for sure. I have emailed Eonon a few days ago, but not heard anything back. Not sure if they are active in any of the forums for a quicker response?
As for the USB Memory Stick with music on, I am still having the problem of 'unexpectedly removed' and 'preparing SD card' each and every time the unit is first used / turned on. Any ideas please as it's driving me bananas! thank you
I have the same unit and yeah it says powering off and it isn't powering off at all, it is even still connected to my phone via bluetooth when it has supposedly powered off!

Thanks for your reply, that is interesting. I have had two replies from Eonon so far. As I thought the ACC cable may be the culprit.
1. Unit can not shutting down completely
Please check whether you have connect the ACC wire always on BATT? If yes, this unit cannot turn off completely.
Please find the ACC control wire on the Fuse box location, then connect the ACC wire to the ACC control wire, the unit can turn on and off via key.
2. If you use the USB Memory Stick to play music? If so does yours have the delay issue as well? )Answer from Eonon copied below so far:
Yes, it will show message when you plug in or plug out SD/USB, this can not change.
But if it shows some error message that make the SD/USB would not work, would you please take a picture to show us?

I have the ACC wire connected correctly as when I turn the ignition off the stereo acknowledges this and turns off/powers down but that function is hard wired supposed to turning the unit off at the on/off/volume knob (while the ignition is on). Their answer is just avoiding the issue as the unit turns off fine with the ignition, it doesn't power down like it says it is when the ignition is on. I just turned my 'off' with the ignition on and could still connect to it via bluetooth....
I can't comment on point 2 as i've yet to rig my amps up and play any music!

Mmmmmm, thats not quite so good then. I was thinking that it might be the ACC as mine is running from a permanently 'on' Leisure Battery. I will probably pop the stereo out and have a look in the next week or so as I can't really change the battery situation (The idea is so that I don't run the starter battery down as it is a CamperVan)
I must say though that I am impressed with the sound (I have been testing PowerAmp, and PlayerPro and they both look and sound STUNNING, the standard player kept skipping for me at least)
I'm still looking into the other thing (Memory Stick) it works, but it's annoying really
I just got my unit yesterday and installed, so far very good device.
I noticed there is a setting in setup to delay shutdown for 30 seconds, and up... Maybe you are not waiting long enough for complete shutdown.
If you had the ACC wired to Battery, the unit screen would not shut off (i think).
ACC being connected to a permanent live compounds the problem as whenever ACC is live i.e ignition turned on, you can't power the unit down at all even though holding down the power button it clearly states "shutting down" when in reality it merely turns the screen off.
Thank you tiff_lee, I think that is exactly what happens in my case (Just the screen goes off)
It is draining my 12v battery rather quickly! If I was to disconnect the ACC cable will I still be able to power it on and use normally? (In my case the car stereo works from a campervan leisure battery. The idea being that you can have the radio on at any time without the ignition having to be on. Also it doesn't drain your starter battery at all)
Many thanks
ACC is accessory power. Accessory power is only powered when a key is on. If you don't have it wired to a ACC source then it won't properly shut off. Wire the ACC with the power wires and put a toggle switch between the battery and the power wires. I would think that would solve the problem.

If I understand your first post correctly you have the ACC connected all the time so yes the unit would effectively be on all the time hence the power drain. Leave the main power connected at all times as this also powers your memory, connect the ACC wire to a 12V+ supply via a toggle/selector switch and just turn it on (via toggle switch) when you want the unit on.
That aside though it doesn't change the fact that the unit does not power off when it says it is.
Hi
Been following this thread and having same issues I only have mine connected by the iso adapters and the unit doesn't seem to shut down fully, have had 1 flat battery so far after not using the van for several days on recharging battery and turning on it showed full start up screens.
Other issues are not being able to turn off the radio once turned on apart from in settings "force stop app"
No voice guidance in the Sygic GPS app.
Someone asked for a good music app,try N7 player, also Smart launcher is very good ,have it on all our Android stuff.

I have bought a Pumpkin KD-C0224 Android car unit and it's working great.
1. Have met the battery drained issue before and the Pumpkin seller suggested me exchange the "ACC" and the "B+" of the iso adapter.
They explained that the “ACC” and the “B+” of my car is opposite to the iso adapter, so I tried and it worked.
2. Maybe your USB Memory Stick is beyond the unit can support, or you can try other USB device with less than 32GB to check.
3. I have Spotify on my unit and its great, I think.
Hello,
someone did you solve this problem? I use the same multimedia Eonon GA2114 and have the same problem .In the moment extinguish my car out inscription 'unexpectedly removed SD card' Just to give contact and back contact without starting the engine again my written 'unexpectedly removed SD card'.
After starting my written 'preparing SD card' and starts from the first song. I'm tired just listening to the same song Please if anyone can help.
I have a very similar problem which has only started to happen recently on my Eonon head unit.
The problem is when you turn the unit off it shows a message saying "storage unexpectedly removed". When you turn on the head unit again it has to remount the USB drive and it starts playing music again from the beginning of the MP3. It never remembers the last play position of the MP3. This happens on various makes of freshly formatted USB sticks. Its very annoying....
I have done a full factory reset, disconnected the power and also re-connected all the cables from the back of the unit - but this did not resolve the problem.
Not really sure what to try next...any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

MTC8-KLD6-V2.81
Rooted with Malaysk's latest ROM
For the past month or so, my phone (HTC M8) has flawlessly mirrored with my Head Unit. THEN came a Marshmallow update. Now my HU/phone mirroring is as follows;
1) Plug Phone into USB port.
a)bug icon shows on phone's top banner
2) Press Easy Connected on Head Unit
a) Four blue bars on HU light up as expected
b) Phone now asks if USB should be used for Screen Mirroring (can only press "Just Once", because "Always" is grayed out)
c) I have tried several different ways to deal with 2.b., but I get the same end result
3) Phone enters Drive Mode (I have also turned this off, but no different result)
4) Head Unit spins its wheels for a while, then claims to enter Screen Mirroring, but all I get is a blank screen with the "Home", "Back", "Exit" buttons on the bottom
a) Phone itself never shows on the Head Unit.
As an aside, I tried to use my phone on Chromecast last week. It look forever to play a single YouTube clip, and when I tried to play a different one, "play" and "pause" would work, but it never actually went to the next video. Pressing play on my phone would start the second video on my phone and also start the FIRST video on the tv.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I also have the same problem. I changed my Note3 on GalaxyS7 and said goodbye to ScrenMirroring I really do not like it. Autoradio should update to Android Lollipop and the problem would disappear. But if even our AndroidAutoradio live to see the renovation

Sadly, I already purchased a new phone. But thanks for the updated app, I'll hold onto it in case my new phone gets an update.
I was looking all over for this, thanks
My new phone updated to Marshmallow last night (against my wishes and despite my efforts to stop it). Now I'm back to not working.
I'll try that updated app, but I'm not holding my breath. All my searching has revealed threads where people have said that the apk will not update and I have not found a single example of someone with Marshmallow who has Screen Mirroring working.
I am pleased to report that the above update to EasyConnected worked and I am now able to mirror my phone (Marshmallow 6.0.1) once again.
I was ok with Marshmallow on my Nexus 6P but cant to mirroring not that I upgraded to Android Nougat 7.0
Hopefully someone like xterm305 will come along again and provide a link to an updated .apk.
In the meantime, try rebooting your head unit. That has worked for me in the past when my phone wouldn't mirror (but, that was not when it updated).
Malaysk has a link to this thread that might help, DanB0Y. Please let us know.

I think you need to remove an .apk from your phone and then connect it to your stereo again though the usb.

Enable USB Debugging in Developer settings
I have a Kenwood DDX9702S receiver. My 5X is having issues using Android Auto for an extended period of time. Usually around the 45 minute mark the Android Auto interface will lock up. Music and GPS guidance will cease to function and the phone feels hot. I can unplug and plug the USB cable back in and it will begin functioning, but for a much shorter time period before locking up again. If I wait for the phone to cool down Auto will work for an extended period of time again. Everything else on the phone appears to be working fine, even when the device is hot.
Here's a list of things I have tried.
- My initial suspicion was that the phone was overheating and killing the Android Auto process. I RMA'd my phone and the replacement exhibits the same issue.
- I've tried using the phone without a case.
- I installed Cyanogenmod to see if it happened to be Google's build, but that didn't help either.
- I've tried numerous different USB cables with no luck.
To help rule out the Kenwood receiver being the issue I have tested with a Galaxy S6 and it does not have the issue. The S6 appears to work indefinitely.
Has anyone else had issues with their 5X locking Android Auto up? Does anyone have a suggestion on something to try to remedy this issue? It's very frustrating because on longer distant trips is usually when I'm counting on the GPS to function correctly. On short trips, such as to and from work, it functions as intended.
Got my Fold 3 a few days ago. Got is setup and plugged it into my truc,k and my Android Auto unit reads "No Device'". My Note 10 works fine but not my new phone. I am no expert here, but when I had a similar issue. I believe it is because I transferred everything from my prior phone to the new one. I got the same error when trying to pair my phone with wireless Android Auto in my Kia K5. My solution was to goto Google Play Services and clear the cache there. For some reason that allowed my phone to be found by my reciever. and worked. I didn't experince this with my new ZF3 but I did when I got my Note 20 Ultra last year. So try clearing the cache in Google Play Services.
Hey so try clearing the cache in the Google Play Services app. This worked for me when I had a similar issue with my Kia K5 going from Note 9 to Note 20 Ultra. I got the same error no device. This was going to a wireless head unit for AA. I finally figureout how to clear the cache in the Google Play Services app. Then went back to connect and it worked. Try this. It may work for the ZF3. Thankfully I did not have the same issue going from the Note 20 Ultra to ZF3. But this is what I would have done.
Thanks, man. I did that and to no avail. My phone is still not being recognized by my truck. When I press "Android Auto" on my head unit, I still get the message "No Device"
I'd flip cables for sure. Then I'd go to your setting when plugged in and make sure it's not set to charge only on the phone. Should be adjustable from the notification on charging.
I've having some weird issues with android auto and my fold 3. I've noticed when connected to android auto I often loose cellular data and it switches from 5g/lte/edge and no service. If I disable android auto the phone operates normally. Anyone else seeing anything similar.
Just a thought for OP. Did you happen to try opening Android Auto app in phone and checking to see if truck is an added vehicle and add if not?
The cable seems the most viable option. There is no option to select or deselect charging only, and Android Auto is no longer separate app. It is built into the OS and automatically opens when the phone is plugged into a headunit and there are no options to manipulate. The pain is that the dash has be pulled out to change the cable so I'll have to research a certified cable.
Did you buy chance to to settings > advance settings > then use Android auto there? Not sure if a setting in that will help. When I open it it wantsto attempt to connect to vehicle

Ah well unfortunately don't no more than that, just knew I saw an android auto option in there. My car doesn't support wireless and haven't tried the wired part yet to see
Well, removed the dash and head unit and changed the cable. I tried a Belkin USB-C certifed cable and even the known working cable from my other truck, and got the same thing.
On the phone I get the notification to stop my truck and apply the parking brake to continue and on the head unit I still get the notice of "no device" when I press the screen for Android Auto. At this point, I'm hoping I don't have to change my head unit to get this setup to work.
Weird mine worked just fine.
Did you make sure everything was updated
Yeah. I called Jensen they say it's a phone problem, Samsung says it's a Jensen problem
Got an email from Jensen customer service. My HU uses a bypass to allow certain functions while my truck is moving. I installed the HU myself and also installed the bypass. Jensen engineers found that I need to disconnect the parking brake wire from the bypass and connect it to chassis ground. I did that and was able to connect. I'm so happy to be able to use my phone in my truck.
