Hi,
2 days ago I bought lg g pad 8.3 white V500 version. It is my 1st lg with android.
So I have some questions.
1. Is bootloader locked out of box?
2. Is it possible to flash google play edition rom? What do I need to do it?
3. And when it comes to warranty how to get back to lg's stock rom?
4. What are the differences between V500 and V510?

1. no
2. no it is not possible but there are a few asop roms that look close to google play edition.
3. using the lg tool for windows, you can return back to stop.
4. hardware wise, no difference. just software. v500 is LG rom, v510 is stock google.

So do I have to:
1. Root it
2. Install recovery
And I can flash any rom?
Can you tell me which one is not much different from gpe?
I know cm, mahdi and others but I'm looking for the most stable and simple rom similar to gpe .

I like slimkat myself, however if you are trying to go close to gpe CyanogenMod is probably closest of all the ones I've tried
The bootloader for the V500 is locked out of the box and roms use a workaround called LOKI. Rooting I used towelroot. Installation of recovery will vary depending upon what version of the LG code is installed on your device (4.2.2 or 4.4.2).
It is strange for me that it is no pre rooted deodexed gpe to flash using custom recovery.
Ok.
And what about LG tool? Is it software from LG?
I need to click repair and then it will restore stock lg rom?

Hello Guys
I bought my LG V500 90 days ago. Now I am pretty tired of the stock version of the OS.
I would like to install a standard Google Play Edition ROM - no addons or anything. Basically I want to transform it into a LG V510 with the AOSP google version.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, so I am not really experienced in the LG roms.
Do you have a complete Google Play Edition ROM for the LG V500 you can recommend?
It is important that is without any extra features. I just want a basic Android OS, like the one on the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.
Sorry if there are some mistakes in my english.
Thanks
Hello,
I have AICP Rom. I tried multiple Rom and AICP is much better. Is AOSP basic with a lots of impruvements(AOKP+PARANOID+CYANGENMOD).

You can not install the V510 GPE ROM on the V500. The drivers and hardware are different. The closest you can come is CM11.
Thanks guys.
I was considering Mahdi Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581988 but the download link is broken, så i will consider again.
@cam30era i know i can't install THE V510 GPE ROM. I meant a ROM that looked/worked like as if I was using a V510.

GPE is "pure” AOSP. CM11 is AOSP based and is as close to GPE as you will get.

I have an offer through Kijiji to buy the Rogers LG G3 (D852). I am currently an owner of a Nexus 5. A lot of things about the G3 are very tempting for me especially in regards to camera and screen size with small bezels. However I also like trying out what third party development has to offer. After going through these forums most of what I see is simply for D855 and D850. So, a couple of questions:
1. Rooting and "unlocking" bootloader: Is Purpledrake compatible with the d852 and can the d852 be "bumped" to have TWRP?
2. Lollipop: I'm aware that LG G3 now has Lollipop but are any builds compatible with the d852?
3. "Stock Android": By this I mean "not LG's skin", is there any way to get stock android or anything similar (CM12/PA/etc.) onto the the LG G3? I plan to use LG's firmware for the most part but the option to load an AOSP rom would be nice.
4. Backwards compatibility with AT&T model: Would ROMs that are available for the D850 work with the D852 since both are similar hardware?
5. Debloating: After rooting, can the phone be debloated to increase performance? I'm assuming LG has added a fair share of bloated software onto the stock ROM.
I really want to own this phone (the Nexus 5 just has HORRENDOUS battery life and camera for me) but the only thing pushing me away is the lack of development, if these questions can be answered and I can at least be provided with some hope for the future I will definitely consider buying the G3, thank you for any help in advance!
1. You can root it with Stump root
2. At the moment no.
3. There is CM12 but for D855. Carbon and Mahdi are also for D855. For D852 there is no AOSP rom.
4. No, it is not compatible.
5. Of course it can.
My D852 is rooted with Purpledrake and also BUMPED with TWRP recovery.
In the General section, read the Canadian Users thread and there are some converted D855 ROMS for D852.
ROMS are slowly but surely gaining traction. [I think there's a bit of a pause now as devs have moved from KK roms and now working on Lollipop ROMS]
Hey!
Going to make this as short and simple as possible.
So I was runinng stock LG G3 4.4.2, but about 1 week ago I recieved the 5.0 update to my phone. I was all glad and dandy until I got sick to my stomach with McAfee (unfreeze-able and non-removable) and games starting to lagg without device even getting hot...
So I decided to Root and run CM or some other more lightweight ROM, but to my greatest fear, 5.0 seems unrootable atm!? I am at a loss here.. I am in no way happy with the Lollipop update, I can't even see if my device is running ART or not, and the overall experience feels even more sluggish than before - Need a 'get out of jail' card over here ~
Sidenote; I've only ever owned Samsung Devices (S2 and S4) as main phones, so I feel a bit lost when it comes to how LG run things (no Odin is my primary issue, as well as limited support since the device is not all that popular).
TL;DR:
1. Is there a working Root for LG G3 International d855 (32gb, 3gb RAM)devices running stock 5.0?
2. If not 1: Is there a way to downgrade from 5.0 to KitKat again?
3. If 2: What's the best way to Root the device with, and what Kitkat version should I run?
1. No.
2. See FAQ in my signature for links for guide to downgrade (guide is listed as unroot in faq).
3. PurpleDrake should do.

I am currently following your 10 (6) linked guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
But I am already stuck on 1.. http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G3/Stock/
What firmware file do I pick? Using the 32Gb LG-D855 (international), and I picked it up along with a carrier contract from "Telia" (Swedens biggest carrier).

Yes, that is the guide.
You need firmware for D855. Latest Lollipop version is 20F.

Currently downloading this file; "D855 TOTs/ -> LGD855AT-V10e-EUR-32G.zip" Is that the wrong file?

You can do that by rooting the stock ROM and installing twrp manager from the play store. Just saying.

Bump is a hack that bypasses LG security on boot checks. I came from the Verizon G2 that needed it. I forgot that T-Mobile don't lock their devices down like all other carriers.
I also recently bought a LG G Pad 8 inch that locked was locked down. Not even on any carrier but was locked down. Couldn't even get TWRP on it due to this.

T-Mobile locks down some of their devices. The g3 is lucky enough not needing it. That's why the d851 had ROMs first. Anyways, its easier to just use the one click root method and either use twrp manager or flashify to get twrp on your phone.

Guess it just makes T-Mobile that much better than the competition as being the "UnCarrier"! I was with Verizon for years and got tired of their outrages pricing and lockdowns. Plus, having unlimited data is what finally got me back to TMO.

Or you can go with a nexus device. Its unlocked no matter where you go.
Just added tool for KK 10R.
I have a D851 on the stock, rooted Lollipop ROM. I want to install TWRP but before I do anything, I just wanna make sure I'll still be able to boot back into the stock ROM after installing the recovery using this tool. (Someone reported on another forum that he installed TWRP using bump, but couldn't boot back into the stock ROM.)

If your on stock LP then choose the 20b version for twrp. Your booting will work fine. Thats what this is for.
Tmobile LG G3 Android 4.4.2 not working!
I have tried and seems someone has not posted a good instructions on how to root access this device I have been reading the forms I am more confused now then before I even thought about rooting this unit... maybe I might need to pass on this phone.. because I don't feel like spending all day getting this to operate correct the instructions would really help starting from the beginning as to which method is best and where to find the links these posts are like a one thing and then just goes into a different subject.

I was using a phone with a stock android before I got my lg g4, and I very much prefer the stock android experience over the lg custom version. I got a the duel sim version of the lg g4 (h818p), unfortunately Cyanogenmod hasn't been released for this version yet (maybe will never be)! So, is there any chance that they will do it in the future? Or are there any other roms that I can run on my lg g4 that can give the stock android experience or something close?
