[Q] I want to install Google Play Edition on my V500 - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys
I bought my LG V500 90 days ago. Now I am pretty tired of the stock version of the OS.
I would like to install a standard Google Play Edition ROM - no addons or anything. Basically I want to transform it into a LG V510 with the AOSP google version.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, so I am not really experienced in the LG roms.
Do you have a complete Google Play Edition ROM for the LG V500 you can recommend?
It is important that is without any extra features. I just want a basic Android OS, like the one on the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.
Sorry if there are some mistakes in my english.
Thanks

Hello,
I have AICP Rom. I tried multiple Rom and AICP is much better. Is AOSP basic with a lots of impruvements(AOKP+PARANOID+CYANGENMOD).

You can not install the V510 GPE ROM on the V500. The drivers and hardware are different. The closest you can come is CM11.

Thanks guys.
I was considering Mahdi Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581988 but the download link is broken, så i will consider again.
 @cam30era i know i can't install THE V510 GPE ROM. I meant a ROM that looked/worked like as if I was using a V510.

GPE is "pure” AOSP. CM11 is AOSP based and is as close to GPE as you will get.

[Q] g pad 8.3 GPE vs CM11 and slimport support

Hello, I am considering to buy G Pad 8.3. Specifically I am attracted to the GPE version, but it is not available for sale in Europe. I got some questions:
Can I instead buy the original version of G Pad 8.3 and install GPE ROM myself and where should i get this ROM? Will it be as stable as using the GPE version bought from google play. Will SlimPort interfaces work with the installed GPE rom?
What is the advantage of GPE over installing CyanogenMod? CM11 is currently nightly for this device, is there any problems with using it? Will the SlimPort work with CM11 on this device?

A conversion is afaik not 100%ly possible without any downsides such as no working wifi or bt. Still cm11 has some disadvantages such as weak speaker sound etc.

Sorry to push this old thread up again, but I could not find anything on this.
I am running the latest Cyanogenmod Nightly on my GPad V500 and would like to know if Slimport HDMI is working.
Can anyone confirm this?

Normal VS GPE OTAs?

I wonder which Software Version will get the latest updates faster or first?
A normal Moto G or a Google Play Edition Moto G?
Would it be better to flash a GPE ROM on a normal Moto G to get the latest Updates that are going to maybe come this summer faster?

This is a characteristic, The Moto G google play edition upgrades are always the first than the normal moto G because there's no motorola's customization and carrier's customization
Sorry about my english =) i'm learning

Hmm okay, thank you, what do you think is better the GPE ROM or Motorolas ROM?
Your choice. It depends on what do you like the most: google apps or moto customized apps (e.g. launcher, camera etc.).
Id say go with the GPE. Its easier to unlock/relock the Bootloader because you don't have to go through the Motorola unlock website, you'll get updates before regular moto g will, and if you have any hardware issues after your rooted you can just unroot and relock the Bootloader and send it in to google. If you Bootloader unlock a regular moto g, the warranty is permanently voided and there's no way to hide it because you HAVE to go through the Motorola unlock website.
The GPE moto g is basically a cheaper plastic version of a Nexus 4 [emoji4]

not sure why for motorola edition is there version 176.44.1 and for google edition there isan older firmware?
and with google edition (gpe) the notification light without light flow doesn'i native work!!!!!!
Wrong forum. Please move.

i Think its better the Motorolas ROM because you can flash (With the bootloader unlocked) a kernel, for example the Hybrid Kernel by Faux
Motorolas has the F2FS file system and Google Play Edition has ext4 file system thats why most of kernels can't work with GPE.

Some questions about g pad 8.3

Hi,
2 days ago I bought lg g pad 8.3 white V500 version. It is my 1st lg with android.
So I have some questions.
1. Is bootloader locked out of box?
2. Is it possible to flash google play edition rom? What do I need to do it?
3. And when it comes to warranty how to get back to lg's stock rom?
4. What are the differences between V500 and V510?

1. no
2. no it is not possible but there are a few asop roms that look close to google play edition.
3. using the lg tool for windows, you can return back to stop.
4. hardware wise, no difference. just software. v500 is LG rom, v510 is stock google.

So do I have to:
1. Root it
2. Install recovery
And I can flash any rom?
Can you tell me which one is not much different from gpe?
I know cm, mahdi and others but I'm looking for the most stable and simple rom similar to gpe .

I like slimkat myself, however if you are trying to go close to gpe CyanogenMod is probably closest of all the ones I've tried
The bootloader for the V500 is locked out of the box and roms use a workaround called LOKI. Rooting I used towelroot. Installation of recovery will vary depending upon what version of the LG code is installed on your device (4.2.2 or 4.4.2).
It is strange for me that it is no pre rooted deodexed gpe to flash using custom recovery.
Ok.
And what about LG tool? Is it software from LG?
I need to click repair and then it will restore stock lg rom?

[Q] Update stock ROM

Hello.
I haven't seen an official Kitkat update for the P6-U06 - International Edition (i have the B113, JB 4.2.2 version).
As Huawei seems that it doesn't care about it, i want to update mi stock ROM to a fully functional Kitkat custom ROM.
Which ones are the most recommended???
I've seen versions B5XX, to miui, etc, but with huawei, i haven't worked with updates (i had a samsung cellphone, then an LG G, with which i didn't have problems finding the best ROMs), so i need a little help here.

B510, B511 and B512 are Official International KitKat Updates.
Yep i think there is also an B513 by now
But if you want a custom Rom, there is CyanogenMod 11 (newly arrived!), Paranoid Android and OmniRom
In my opinion CM11 and PA are the best

G5 rom ported to LG G3

Hi !
I'm wondering if there will be a ported rom from LG G5 running 7.0 Nougat for our LG G3 ?

Of course, there will. It's only a few 100MB of closed-source binaries compiled for different and more powerful hardware. Every pre-school kid could port to that in just one weekend, just do it.
However, there actually are Nougat custom ROMs based on AOSP or Cyanogen/Lineage for the G3. Not the best time to try that out these days though, with developers being busy collecting and gluing together the remains of what once was cyanogenmod.
