Can Note 3 T-mobile install aesop roms? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

So long story short, I hate touchwiz and it's lag. I have a S5 and considering a Note 3 that has a non touchwiz custom rom.
I have AT&T so I'd have to unlock it and then unlock the bootloader correct? And what's the best and most popular custom rom that has no "touchwiz" lag? My old HTC one m7 didn't even have that lag my S5 has
I am satisfied with my battery for my S5, does the Note 3 have a great battery life?

Your AT&T Note 3 must be UNLOCKED to work with the T-Moble network.
It also must be rooted and have a custom recovery flashed like cwm or twrp.
Yes, the Note 3 is compatible with AOSP and CM11 roms.
There are only 2 or 3 AOSP and or CM11 roms to choose from.
The Touchwiz custom roms are NOT laggy at all, especially since
we are talking about the king of phones, the Galaxy Note 3. LOL
Be sure to follow all the flashing instructions and be sure to
make a nandroid backup before flashing any roms.
Good luck!

Yes, battery life is pretty good. I unplug around 7am and by 5 I usually still have about 50% left, give or take 5-10% depending on my usage.
The rom thing is going to be very subjective and you're just going to have to try a few roms and decide for yourself which one you like best. For TW, I personally liked Tweaked and Darthstalker. Most custom TW roms are going to be MUCH faster than stock, and I never noticed any lag(I always disable animations though, just FYI). For AOSP, I really liked Gummy, Pac-rom, and I'm currently enjoying the CM nightlies. All are pretty comparable in battery life and speed, but be aware that you will lose certain features if you decide to go with AOSP. NFC doesn't work, the temp & humidity sensors don't work, and you lose certain apps like WatchOn and S-health.
As for the bootloader question, you might find more answers on that here. I don't know much about the AT&T model since mine is T-mobile, sorry.

Didn't want to start a new thread since my question is somewhat related,
what about some of the aosp roms on the international forum? can they be used, if so anything to look out for?
Side note, any comparisons between aosp variants, so many..and I know many have been around quite a while.

I use darthstalker on my 3 and yes, it's fast as hell because it's a modified version of TouchWiz. Great battery life, the Tethering, options, it's got it all. There is also effortless and vision X, and as mentioned, tweaked all are great rooms with different outcomes so happy flashing, which ever you choose you won't be disappointed. And the note 3 is the king of all phones at the moment, phablets, phablets. ..custom roms are what the phone was supposed to be like in the first place...

custom roms VS launchers

hi guys
i am a new android owner here, and i wish to ask for some assistance and maybe your opinion as well. i am currently a samsung galaxy S3 owner. and i am currently using the official firmware of this model. what is the main point of re-flashing your unit and installing a custom rom (oh and by the way which custom firmware is the best for samsung galaxy s3?). and if you are only looking for personalization, would it be installing launchers and some lock screen apps will do the job?
oh and lastly which is the best launcher available in the market place? Apex or nova?
thanks guys

If you are ONLY looking for customization, then I'd say launchers/lockscreen apps would do the trick.
The custom roms based off of stock are very similar to the stock rom. A lot of them make some improvements/tweaks/mods that make it more appealing/faster/efficient, etc. but if anyone tells you there is a HUGE difference between stock/custom I really believe that is not true. Especially on this phone. The roms NOT based off of stock (located in ORIGINAL development) are actually A LOT different. If you like the idea of natural Android you may want to check them out because it is close to the Nexus devices.
I personally like Nova, but I think Apex gets the job done too. Both have free versions so play around.
Widgetlocker is a good lock screen replacement app.
Also, if your new, and feel you do want to check out the custom offerings plenty of people will be here to help you out.

yes, and a lot of times they are a bit smoother and faster than the stock firmware.

Yes...a lot of roms claim (and some) do improve battery life. Also, some are smoother/faster than stock roms.
HOWEVER, in my experience using many roms on many phones on many carriers I would point out:
1. You WILL run into unexpected bugs using custom roms.
2. A lot of the improvements are placebo. I don't care what people say, your phone does not magically become THAT much better. An S3 running a custom rom will not blow an S3 running stock out of the water. That said, when you have a good rom dev there will be improvements. Just watch out for people who take roms and really only theme the rom and not make improvements.
I've used the AT&T and Sprint versions of the S3 for about a week each on stock roms, and I did not notice a big difference in battery life or speed when switching to custom ones. Maybe a little smoother, maybe, but my battery life has been about the same.
EDIT: What I would say is expectations need to be reasonable. Your phone will get better with a (good) custom rom, but custom roms aren't going to make a S2 as powerful as an S3, or an S3 have the battery life of a RazrMaxx. The phones performance are still primarily based on the hardware and not the small tweaks made via the roms.

What kind of ROM you running ? Stock or AOSP ?

Just got my Note 2 last night Awesome device, a bit bigger than my old international One X running CM10, but getting used to size. I rooted it out of the box, man it was the easiest quickest root ever for me. Just installed a stock ROM and simple ICS blue theme to start off, and try out the S-Pen and Touchwiz features. So far so good, running on Straight Talk ATT sim, very fast, great service today so far. .
I have been on stock AOSP Android for years, Nexus-One, Nexus-S, Galaxy Nexus, One X running CM10. I did have the Galaxy S II running a good stock Touchwiz ROM and heavily ICS theme which I liked a lot.
Curious what are you running ? Stock Touchwiz based ROM, or AOSP CM10.1 ROM ? I love AOSP, but are any of the CM10 based ROM's for the Note II good enough as a daily ROM with little bugs ? But AOSP ROM's on the Note II get rid of all the S-Pen features and note writing ? I mean the S-Pen is a big deal on the Note phones, would suck to lose all those features, but then again AOSP is awesome if a good stable and quality ROM.
Of the AOSP ROM's which one for our Note II is the most stable, and offer custom DPI and cool features above and beyond just stock nightly CM10.1 ? And of the stock Touchwiz ROM's which is your favorite, with cool themes and dark apps ? So many to chose from
I am using Nova launcher, and makes the phone look more stock, with cool features, and the 6 x 6 grid fits the Note perfectly. I am shocked actually with Nova on a stock rom, it does feel act very much like stock AOSP.
Thank you
When im still on note 1, i keep changing rom in between aosp or tw custom rom. Aosp or cm rom give my note 1 lag free and smooth experienced. But im personally will get boring after 1 or 2 days with those rom. That was because those aosp make my note 1 just similar to other bigger screen devices. Without tw or spen features i cant see any special of my note 1. Since im personally using a lot of photo editing for my daily job.
When came to note 2. Im totally never consider any other type of rom beside Tw based rom. Even note2 still using A9 chips. But with quadcore+2gb ram strong hardware spec, now a days all tw based rom available are just running smooth and responsive as other type of rom.
Therefore, im personally will comment that, i bought note 2 not only the bigger screen. The main point drive me to bought note 2 is about the features and the great utilities of spen on snote.
Without spen features, it just a normal large screen devices. I dont see the point why i would buy note 2 if i would go other type of rom beside tw based rom.
Indeed, everyone have their own choice and taste and nothing wrong at all. Maybe some of them just like the bigger screen only and prefer the pure android experienced. But all this depend on different person of choices. Nothing to argue.
I has tried so many snote replacement app on my note 1. But at the the moment, still no single app able to come close to origin snote.

AOSP Status News

I'm currently running Jedi on my AT&T Note 2, but I've given AOSP Roms a go here and there. After having a Galaxy Nexus for 9 months, I became quite addicted to them and have very much missed them since moving to the Note 2.
I made the move back to TouchWiz because I wasn't happy with the bugs and hardware compatibility issues on the AOSP ROMs I tried (Primarily PAC as I didn't get much time with much else). Where can I track the progress of AOSP hardware compatibility and what is the current status of it? I know that Samsung released some documentation about the SOC, but in truth how solid is it? Battery life, processing power, and camera all seemed sub-par compared to the Touchwiz roms.
Will AOSP ever be on par with Touchwiz or is this just the way things will always be?
One more question. Given that I'm on T-Mobile and want 4G, what current or upcoming phone would get closest to Nexus like support while satisfying my phablet craving (greater than 5 inch screen)?
I have tried both types of roms. I love AOSP but I love good battery life and smoothness. I would like to use multiwindow and be able to really use my phone to its full potential. What I really want is a TouchWiz AOSP hybrid that has the TW framework with AOSP customization. Sadly noone has tried it to my knowledge. Battery life on TW is best from my understanding. This is because the GPU is dedicated on TW while AOSP uses the CPU to render everything. Hence, the battery drain. Custom DPI is extremely important to me and so I can't see myself going back to touchwiz, plus its not very appealing to be honest. But the features and battery life... I would pay to have someone combine the two.

Someone WAS working on it. They pretty much got TW themed like AOSP and then gave up after some issues trying to include aroma. Here is the thread if you want to take a look.
I get great battery life on liquid smooth. give it a try.

[Q] Wicked ROM v5 or DarthStalker v6 For T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3

Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to Android and most definitely new to rooting, custom ROMS, and this forum. I switched from the iPhone 4s to the Galaxy Note 3 about 6 months ago and I couldn't be happier.
When I had the iPhone I was constantly "tinkering" with it as I was always jailbroken. With the Galaxy Note 3 and with Android in general, there so much customization out of the box that I didn't feel the need to root/install a custom ROM right away. Well, now that I've owned my device for several months now I'm getting that urge to explore some more and see what else this bad boy can do. Hence my post.
After some research I've settled on 2 ROMs, Wicked ROM v5 and DarthStalker v6. I was hoping to get some feedback\input from anyone who has used either of these ROMs (preferably both ) and find out what your experience was like. Battery life, performance, etc., etc.. Any issues like Bluetooth not working or apps force closing or any workarounds that you had to use to get something to work? I'm sort of leaning towards the Darthstalker ROM as it seems to be better documented but I didn't want to rule out Wicked ROM.
Also, I'm assuming Wicked ROM v5 is based on Jellybean (4.3)? The reason I ask is because I couldn't find it anywhere in the developer's notes.
Thanks in advance,
Art

Definitely Wicked I regret updating to KitKat because Wicked v5 was extremely smooth and had an awesome battery life. Not to bash DarthStalker, but I onced tried flashing it and it got stuck at the Samsung logo.
At the end of the day, it comes down to your personal choice. For me, it was Wicked
I'm sorry OP, but we do not allow rom comparison threads here. It causes a lot of issues sometimes between members. Your best bet is to read about them, flash them, and try them. Thank you for understanding.

[Q] Suggest a ROM for Tm N3 on ATT

Hey guys specially those who are using their phones on the ATT network.
What is a good 4.4.4 ROM that I can use with minimal issue?
Looking for a ASOP feel but looks of the TW. (but can be customized and themed)
Any suggestion is appreciated.

I know what you are saying, but it is still conflicting. You really can't have them both. True AOSP will not support the framework for the sPen. Leaving out the TouchWiz framework (not just the launcher) cheapens your Note3 down to a boring Nexus device. A Note3 without the functionality of the sPen might as well be a paperweight or a boring non-Samsung device.

I have to agree. Of course many will have their own opinions and there are AOSP and TouchWiz ROMs for whatever you prefer, but to me AOSP is half and half. Great features, but lacking some other things obviously as a AOSP ROM is a few hundred mbs while a TouchWiz ROM is a gig or two. I run Vision X on my Tmo Note 3 and I'm on ATT network. No problems, fast ROM, and awesome battery life and I still have all the features of the Note.
