Rooted galaxy note 2014 10.1. I am using a hack version of flash player that allows me to view amazon prime videos. The issue is that I am not able to view them in HD and enjoy the high quality screen on this tablet.
Any way to watch prime in 720 or 1080?

Netflix doesn't stream in HD unless your phone uses omap 4 processors. note II uses exynos.

Did you even read his original question? He wants to use HDMI out to play netflix off of his phone onto his girlfriend's TV. Seems like a reasonable thing to want to do.
On the other hand, can you really tell the difference between 720 and 1080 stuff when it's being streamed over Netflix? I don't think I could, but I'm not a youngster any more. Not a videophile either.
Wouldn't it be better to just get a cheap roku? How are you even pluging in the phone?

Hey guys,
Just wanted to let everyone know that after purchasing the GN 10.1 2014, I have been absolutely loving the device. Yes there is a little lag here and there but this is a fantastic device. The one thing that I was very excited about was to watch HD movies on this gorgeous screen. Well come to find out when I entered into the Google play store to purchase a movie, the option for HD version had a note attached saying this device does not support HD playback. I wanted everyone to know this as I was unaware this high resolution screen was incapable of HD playback before I spent the $600.00.

The title of your post is deceiving, The tablet definitely Supports HD Playback, you can load your own videos in there and it will look amazing. Maybe play store just hasn't approved of HD for this tablet yet, You can try to get videos from Samsung Hub with the free $50 gift card

Thanks for the input and I have corrected the title. Where is the spec sheet or Some other info showing HD play back support?

The screen resolution is 2560x1600 which is much higher than HD (1920x1080). I don't think it'll say HD play back support explicitly on the spec sheet, but the CPU is more than capable of playing 1080p videos. I've been able to do it since I had my Galaxy S3. Also if you watch a video on youtube, it'll play HD videos. You can verify that it is HD by clicking on the action overflow button (3 dots) on a YouTube video and it'll say HD rather than just HQ.

It does say HD play back and record http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SM-P6000ZWYXAR-specs.
You can also go to Media hub and watch free HD Tv content.
just install a player like MX Player or BS Player and load your own movies on it. The device is easily capable of 1080p content.
So given all of that, does anybody know what specifically the issue is with the Play Store? Is it a restrictive policy issue due to licensing agreements or something similar, or have they just not entered the model number into some database that tells the system that this is a HD capable device?
I got the Fire TV today, I bought it specifically for 4k content. How do I find 4k content?
For the FireTV, all I know of are Amazon Instant Video, Netflix (upgraded subscription) and Youtube. Not having a FTV2 I wouldn't know which clients actually support 4k.
You bought a cow to butcher for meat, but you don't even know how to find a knife to butcher it .
Netflix has some bit it's extra $.

Netfliex, Amazon are your best choices. As far as downloaded content youre mostly limited to Porn.
There was even talk that someone was able to obtain the first episode of Breaking Bad in 4k from netflix (see link below)

Which TV do you have ? my Samsung has the Amazon app pre loaded so I have direct access to all their 4K content.
I was super excited to finally get a 4K tv. But kodi and vlc run at 1080p. What's going on? It's set to auto 4K resolution.

Only apps that amazon allows can run in 4k. It is what drove me to get a Shield TV, and I do NOT regret it at all!
I guess I'll be selling my 2 fire Tv. Looking at the minx box

I'm telling you, you will NOT go wrong with the Shield, especially if you like to game. The quality of the interface and video output in 4k is phenomenal and Nvidia has been doing excellent on the updates area.
OK let me think about it. Not sure i want to spend another $200-300. I just ordered this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NQCFXGA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Will use it with my XPS 18

Any thoughts of using an actual PC for an HTPC experience in 4K??

I am pretty sure, this is a limitation that can be circumvented when rooted - it's IMHO only a question (of a
short period) of time - but of course one can't promise this.
And you're right - if one wants 4k on kodi immediately out of the box - shield tv isn't a bad idea - albeit more expensive.
I bought the Fire TV(2) Gaming bundle while it was on sale (first week of the new year) - Shield TV + Gamecontroller + Remote would have been at least twice the price...

I bought my new a50 yesterday. I really enjoy the display. I have a issue when watching Amazon prime videos. The video get black for every 4 seconds. I am having this issue only with Amazon. Netflix and you tube is fine.*
