I got my phone last monday and today my phone was lagging while swipping through home screens, app drawer and even in settings. It was like project butter was shutdown and I was back to the epic 4g. Thought kind strange giving the specs on this phone.. I have stock jb and no root.
After a restart everything went back to normal.
Just curious, does this happen to everyone here? Is this normal to happen after 2-3 days of use?

You must not be actually closing apps just hitting home I assume but if not then idk the problem
Sent from my SPH-L900
Yes I did close them... I even tried force closing all. Not sure why the phone was struggling a little.
you didn't enable power saving mode by any chance?
also, android should be fairly good at managing your memory. i believe google doesn't really recommend task killers because whenever you kill tasks that the OS needs, it'll just reload it, which itself consumes resources (maybe more resource than letting the process simply idle). so just leave those processes alone.
Are you running SetCPU? Make sure it didn't accidentally severely under clock you. That happened to me once and SETCPU was running me at 200 mhz for some reason.

I would double check on all the apps you've previously installed. I'm still on stock JB unrooted as well since released day (Oct 25), not once I've experience any lag that yours producing. Heck I've loaded a bunch of games and apps now my main storage is down to a gig, even then I haven't noticed any slow down. This phone is a beast thats all I can say.

Yeah, thats unfortunate because if anything the phone should speed up after a few days of use. Why don't you just keep it to the 1 thread you started in the GT 7100 forum? You already got 4 pages of responses there. And post a video of what you're talking about because the phone should not lag at all with power savings off.

I didn't strat a thread there... just replied to one and it was a different are of problem anyway..
Guys.. I didn't install any task killer, I just force off using that long pressing home button and going into running apps, the phone, no power saving mode on, still unrooted and very few apps. I use Android for 3 years and I looked all the places to make sure settings would not be causing this and it was not.
Really weird problem... it's fine now I just hope it keeps running this way by tomorrow.. I'll let you all know, if anything I'll make a video if I can reproduce.

Don't close the apps down just back out of them because you'll lag more when your phone sits there trying to open them all up again and cache them. But I agree its a strange problem, if this occurs againit might be something very specific.

That's strange. Yeah I would pay close attention to the problem and if it do come back, then maybe you probably have a bad note II. You never know, not everything are created equal. In that case I would take it in for a repair person to check it out.
Is there a way to know if all cores are running on stock Android?
I've also seen some sick battery life in this phone, but not on mine. Yesterday I got 12 hours with about 3 1/2 of screen, with few and short phone calls. What I used the most on this phone was the internet and the browser..
Not sure if these are related.
EDIT.... I installed CPU usage Monitoring and the 4th core stays off most of the time.. when I opened videos and messed with more apps it started working so I'm answering myself on that. Also, I played a video with the pop up function and the cpu only gets to about 30% and not even on all cores... wow.. the processing power here is really impressive.

Even though I would never use a phone like that, still very impressive...
So, I bought it on launch day and I'm getting desperate...
1) Wake screen after receiving notification (text etc). Pull down notification bar, back and multitask soft buttons grey out and phone will not respond. If I'm listening to music when this happens, the song keeps playing until I pull the battery or the phone reboots itself.
2) General lag is awful... More than half the time it has noticeable hangs switching apps or opening anything. I'm down to next to no apps that i've installed and have even tried removing just about everything I have with no improvement. Scrolling stutters about half the time as well. And the image you see with the camera open stutters badly also. Every once in a while it's buttery smooth for a few seconds then slows again.
Battery life is great and I love the form factor of this phone. I REALLY don't want to get rid of it but I'm at the point where it's more important to have a phone that's usable than have the extra screen size etc.
It's bone stock and I haven't tried a factory reset.
Suggestions?
Try the factory reset then go from there.

Well, I did the factory reset and no lockups or reboots yet. It's still really laggy though :-/
Gonna give it a while longer but I'm thinking it's time to root. What's the "hot setup" for the tmo version of this phone?

I've had my G3 for over a month now without many issues, however yesterday evening my phone randomly rebooted itself, and ever since reboots every few minutes, often when I unlock my phone or shortly after. I have booted in to safe mode, and reflashed both the latest i and j firmware updates but no success.
Any ideas or anything I can try to dig in to the issue further?
By any chance did you enable ART runtime in settings? Otherwise maybe you have a corrupt sdcard.
Did you try booting into recovery to delete the cache? All else fails, you might need to factory reset.

Its probably due to either overheating or you messed with something in the build.prop.
First is your phone rooted? If it is then did you do anything system-wise? (Xposed framework or edit the build.prop or attempt to "flash" something)?

Thanks, unfortunately I'm still on Dalvik, and have removed my sdcard to try and remove another piece from the puzzle. I've factory reset and also flashed both an i and a j kdz using LGFlashTool2014.
Is it worth me following the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475045 or is the LGFlashTool2014 the same thing?

I've had Xposed installed with a few modules since I first had the phone, and hadn't added any new modules recently, although I guess possibly one of them may have updated. I've since done a factory reset and flashed however so can no longer check. Would I be right to assume the re-flash would have put everything back in a stock state?

Sounds like one of the chips is overheating. Maybe not be seating with the heatsink or whatever is supposed to help it keep cool. Ide take it back and get a replacement.

Interesting development, I flashed the Deviant CM11 AOSP rom on to it (using Tethered TWRP) and whilst it couldn't do much it lasted a whole day without rebooting. Unfortunately flashing the stock firmware or any other kdz back to the device causes the rebooting again. I'm still suspecting it could be a thermal issue, the phone wasn't exactly being stressed on Deviant.
So here’s the thing. I’m not here to make a post whining, “oh my god, this phone is so laggy! Blah blah blah blah.” My G4, overall, runs smoother than my G3 ever did (except for when I put a CM/AOSP based ROM on it). However, every once in a while, a few times a day, my phone will just start lagging to the point it’s unusable.
Sometimes, if it’s not lagging too bad, I may be able to hop into the recent menu and clear all apps and then try to launch my Greenify shortcut to hibernate my selection of apps. Sometimes this works to put the phone back up to speed, sometimes it doesn’t. Other times, it’ll lag so bad that I can’t even long press the power button to try to restart or shutdown the phone in hopes that a reboot will clear up the lag. This “brief” period of lag can lag up to five minutes and I think maybe even ten. I haven’t noticed a pattern to determine if it’s happening under circumstances and it just seems random to me.
Once it clears up, though, my phone is back to normal, smooth, and quick. But only until it goes into another fit.
Does anyone else experience this? Perhaps you have some advice in how to prevent this?
Yes I had lots of moments like this and I've seem to relieve this issue by checking on "force gpu rendering" under developer option.

On my H811 (T-Mobile) variant, it was the My T-Mobile app, which constantly runs in the background and monitors and logs EVERYTHING you do. Once I disabled it using Debloater (you run it on a computer with the phone connected via USB), the phone suddenly sped up and tapping everything became instant. No kidding.

Tried the debloat tool, forced GPU rendering, and I still get those fits of lag.
I'm starting to believe that this phone heats up and throttles more than my G3 ever did.
Same problem here. T-Mobile version, tmobile app has been disabled, GPU Force has been turned on and I still get crazy lag.
To the point where I cant even type anything. I think it has to do with overheating and a very aggressive throttle down.
Whatever it is really is annoying. This phone or the software so far is very disappointing. I had the S6 and am regretting the switch.
I'm on my 2nd LG G4 and the lag is still there. I decided to return the phone and go back to Nexus 5. Hopefully LG makes some updates to fix the issues. I just didn't want to pass up the chance of being able to return the phone during the 20 day period.
I'll just have to wait it out and see what happens. I really wanted to like this phone but it just doesn't feel right.

Attitude? I asked for a link. I did Google and came up short, although searched for LG G4 debloater. I searched forums for Verizon G4 debloater. Nothing.
Having the Tmobile variant, you don't have root, nor do I. The linked debloater says lollipop requires root. Again, nothing. You are the only one mentioning using a debloater, hence why I asked for a link. No need to be feisty. We are all working to the same goal here.

Tone is easily lost in writing. Next time write something more substantial than "link to debloater" - it sounds very entitled and lazy. The only feist here is in your reply.
I did a Factory Reset when I first got the phone and haven't had a problem since. The only slow down I can say I really get is after a few days of not clearing the recent apps
Tried something new. Saw in another thread that people turned off Dual Window mode and that helped with performance. Fortunately, without root, dual window is absolutely useless. Turned it off today and disabled a few more apps that I was allowed to.
I don't want to speak too soon, but, at least for today, I didn't have any lag that makes me want to toss my phone into a brick wall and start using my G3 full time. We'll see how tomorrow pans out.
Would kinda also suck if that is the cause because I'm going to want dual window mode once we have root.

Tried it and I feel the placebo effect as well. Hopefully it stays this way. Thanks for the heads up
I randomly realized my G4 wasn't rotating the screen anymore and I have since tried everything - factory resetting, calibrating the sensor (doesn't work) and even the banging phone on table method, none are successful.
This may indicate that it is a hardware issue but if I hold the phone landscape and open the camera the buttons do rotate, but if I rotate whilst already inside the app nothing changes so I'm not exactly sure what is going on. When I use the app CPU-Z to track the accelerometer value it stays static until I turn the screen off and move the phone a bit, when I turn it on the value changes again but stays still.
Any idea what the cause is??
does booting into safe mode make any difference (i know you said factory reset, but I'm curious).
Also, probably won't, but is there any difference whilst the phone is charging?
Throwing this out there. Did you debloat? On the Samsung models, if you uninstall the Hub app, rotation gets broken for some weird reason. I don't know what that would be on the G4, but maybe? Just a random guess.

Not necessarily. I know a factory reset doesn't restore any previously removed apps, and flashing factory a fresh image depends on how it's flashed I've discovered. Only a CSC restores the phone to factory specs, while other methods didn't for me.

I had the exact problem a few weeks ago, thought my hardware was already flaking. Don't remember what I did to get it working, but it wasn't overly complex.. Rebooting didn't help, I think I pulled the battery, waited a bit, and then rebooted and then went to calibration from there.
Do you happen to have xposed installed by the way?

Yea would have been the calibration from the regular settings.
As for xposed, flashing a kdz will keep user data and settings.. It might have been gravitybox causing the issue for me, which if you uninstall that, reboot and reinstall it, might help. Same goes for any other modules you had enabled.

Yeah I have I don't even know there are signs that point towards it being a hardware or a software issue tbh.
Problem happened to me too. Started yesterday, sometimes worked, sometimes stuck on portrait.
Shutting down and pulling the battery for a few seconds seems to do the trick. It works properly now..
Have you been used apps which could calibrate the accelerometer before?

quick fix which worked for me was just take the battery out, wait 30 seconds, put back in switch on and problem solved...
