With the release of the kernel sources, it seems that the 3 AndroidOne devices all share the same kernel and internals,
with only the rom branding and chassis they're in being different.
If this is the case, then the roms themselves are built by goog and thusly OTAs handled directly by them.
What it also implies is that the 3 devices might be able to share roms and kernels as they already appear to share kernel sources.
What I need:
Dump of /system
If the rom prompted for an OTA at initial setup
Dump of /oem
Bootloader version
Baseband version
I am expected to get my handset on Saturday. I will try to adb pull ASAP and post.
I want the recovery.img
Sent from my GT-I9082 using Tapatalk
I'm also interested to port it to my bq aquaris e5
You don't have any OTA updates out of the box for now- the baseband version is WR8.W1412.MD.WG.GMP.SP.W14.26.P3, 2014/08/16 11:39
I have yet to get the system etc. dumps, will try to do it over the weekend.

I checked out x-parts(cwm autoinstaller) and se extreme tweaker. They all use the charger routines to get into nice recovery menues. I dont like the changing of stock routines ... (and it does not have to be so comfortable and can work by comandline from PC,...)
Is there any methode for my rooted ARC S for GB (or ICS) without unlocking the bootloader (flashing non stock ROM) ??

This is why it's easier to unlock, if you've rooted then you might as well just take the next step.
YES I know ... BTW:
- how does ROM Manager work ? does it work like the above or need an unlocked BL ?
- Ive heard that ROM Manager is not working well with ARC ... this is why everybody points to x-parts ...

The basic gist of it is:
1. Create an image of your system partition
2. Modify the image using a linux PC to add root
3. Write the modified image to your system partition
Or:
1. Download a system image someone else has already made
2. Write it to your system partiton
The modified image works without a bootloader unlock because the kernel itself isn't being modified.

Hi,
2 weeks ago I got my P8000 from the german elephone distribution, it came with android 6. It seems to be an other version of the phone, the fingerprint sensor has moved up near the camera.
So my problem is, that I can't find a working rom for this device. I tried to root the phone and after that it did not boot anymore, so I tried to flash the 6.0 stock rom but the screen is white with moving stripes.
Where can I get a working rom for my phone?
Nobody with a new version phone who could take a dump for me?

I think you should ask elephone (on facebook or some other social medias) for a dump, I don't see any chances that there are many people out there that own the 2016 version... :/
I wrote to the elephone facebook contact but they just pointed me to the BBS with the not working 'old' Rom file.
So if I could get another new P8000 would it be easy to take a dump oft it and flash it to my phone?

I think you won't have to buy a new device, just point out to them that, that rom on the forum is for the old version and it's not working for your's. I hope they'll provide it for you.
Hey!
I just received this version and would be willing to take the dump, but I don't know how.
MTKDroidTools says unknown rom structure and doesn't allow me to do it.
Any tips?

Hey Emileh these are great news! I cannot help you with this, but surely someone here can!
Many thanks,

I think I have to do the procedure with the SP Flashtool because the display of the faulty phone is not usable

Same as mine. The display controller seems to be another one.
I'm guessing thats just a kernel problem, right? The drivers in the kernel?

P8000B is almost impossible to brick. If you install SP flash, and download the correct recovery (like TWRP), and the correct version ROM's with scatter.txt you can recovery the phone in just about any circumstance. I put the P8000B recovery files on my PC, Formatted whole flash and bootloader. After that, the phone was bricked, and wouldn't turn on. Loaded the P8000B system recovery scatter.txt, and SP flash installed it perfectly. Booted fine. With SP flash it's almost impossible not to be able to restore the P8000B as long as you have proper files,

there is no Stock ROM, no scatter file and I think not even a TWRP or Philz Recovery available for the 'new version' of the P8000 - I call it P8000(B) because it is written on the box of the phone.
Emileh made a good description of the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/general/2016-version-fingerprint-scanner-t3436270
But you could help us if you can provide the necessary files....
Is it the us version? It's the same one I have. I'll post a video how to soon
******EDIT******
FrauHofrat, sorry I did not realize that there was a "Rev.2" out for the P8000 US Version. I am surprised Elephone hasn't released a flash-able version for SPflash yet. Honestly, it would be in their best interest to ship any Rev of their US versions w/ TWRP and freely distributing flash-able images/scatter.txt, so if it gets bricked during a failed OTA update, folks would not have to send their phones back to be fixed. I have the Rev 1 of that phone.
Any word on the Elephone forum regarding the Rev. 2 version for images/scatter.txt? I will keep an eye out. Is there any specific model related info that shows up in About Phone, or written on the box/battery?
Sent from my p8000 using Tapatalk
We're not talking about the P8000-B here, which I believe has different LTE bands so it's better suited for the USA
We're talking about P8000 6.0, which is the newer version of the phone that's currently being shipped in Europe. It has some small technical changes and stock Android 6
Edit: by the way, the box does say P8000(B), but I don't really trust that description
Hi guys,
I was just looking at the elephone forum and found this: http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-11929-1-1.html#.V7WrLDWbfSY . There's the stock rom link for the 2nd revision of the P8000, so hope you can get it working properly again.
@ardrift
Thank you for this information - the ROM works and the phone is alive again!
But there is still one thing to do: because of flashing the wrong firmware my phone lost the IMEI. This should'nt be a problem on rooted devices but the stock ROM resists all attempts to be rooted

Can you try dialing *#*6813#*#* in the stock dialer app? Someone on the elephone forum has written this as a solution, altough I don't know if it works, or how would it work... If you are stuck you can upload a screenshot, I can look at it
PS: Your IMEI numbers should be sticked on your battery, you can see them if you remove the phone's back.
Change IMEI on P8000
@ardrift:
first I thought this is a joke but actually it worked :victory:
with *#*#6813#*#* entered on the stock dialer you can acess the "IMEI-Tool" which allows you to enter a new IMEI for both SIM cards. The new IMEI stay permanent even after reboot and this also works on 'old' P8000.

Do you have the same bug like me? Magazine unlock not working and when you open the notification shade on homescreen and change brightness then the background of the shade will be black everywhere?

I do not have the shade problem you describe, but magazine unlock is not working for me either - not really a feature I'm interested in personally.

Hey all. I Have a AT&T LG K10 (K425 Build number is MXB48T). As the new model is slated to release, im becoming more set on the opinion that our devices will not be receiving Nougat. So my sights have been set on rooting. My question is this: what can I do to root my device? (And to give you a clue to my experience, I have been using a Huawei fusion 2 from 2010 ( old I know. I didn't have a choice in that one ) which had a slim ROM on it, with a hugely modified system which was for a virtual memory file to increase its performance).
I've noticed that there isn't exactly much development on other versions, but if someone could point me in the right direction, that'd be great.

Non of the k10s that's running marshmallow (so 95% of them) can be rooted by any one click stuff (like kingroot,...). So the other solution would be to install Supersu in TWRP. In order to get into TWRP you either need to be rooted (obviously you are not) or you should get into fastboot and boot into TWRP from there. The MTK versions can get to fastboot and boot into TWRP without any problems. However the qualcomm versions are rarely able to get into fastboot and even if you manage to get into fastboot there is no way to flash or even just boot into TWRP... not to mention that you need to unlock your bootloader first which is also problematic in the qualcomm case.

Why does qualcomm devices have so much troubles with fastboot, is it only with K10's or something else

My former LG LEON had the same symptoms. I guess it's qualcomms "secret" weapon against people trying to validate their warranty even if they messed up the device themselves...
Is it possible to downgrade to LL, and then root?OR Would doing that just be superlative to have MM?

You can root if you are in MM too... Forget KingRoot... I am working on a new root method based of dirty cow. It involves very deep analysis of "init" and replacing sepolicy and getting root. It will be out in few days.

Almost every phone is rootable but most of them see easy root methods like one click root and stuff.
I am working on a new root method based of dirtycow. I am able to get temporary root using dirty cow on Android 6.0. Now I am making it permanent. Even MTK can root using the method. It will be out in few days!
