Hi,
2 weeks ago I got my P8000 from the german elephone distribution, it came with android 6. It seems to be an other version of the phone, the fingerprint sensor has moved up near the camera.
So my problem is, that I can't find a working rom for this device. I tried to root the phone and after that it did not boot anymore, so I tried to flash the 6.0 stock rom but the screen is white with moving stripes.
Where can I get a working rom for my phone?
Nobody with a new version phone who could take a dump for me?

I think you should ask elephone (on facebook or some other social medias) for a dump, I don't see any chances that there are many people out there that own the 2016 version... :/
I wrote to the elephone facebook contact but they just pointed me to the BBS with the not working 'old' Rom file.
So if I could get another new P8000 would it be easy to take a dump oft it and flash it to my phone?

I think you won't have to buy a new device, just point out to them that, that rom on the forum is for the old version and it's not working for your's. I hope they'll provide it for you.
Hey!
I just received this version and would be willing to take the dump, but I don't know how.
MTKDroidTools says unknown rom structure and doesn't allow me to do it.
Any tips?
Emile
Hey Emileh these are great news! I cannot help you with this, but surely someone here can!
Many thanks,
Flo

Sorry, I don't understand
I have at least two P8000(B) - and bricked one of them see this post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/help/stock-rom-p8000b-t3434477
The good news are: I still have a working one and could use this as a source to generate a firmware file... if someone could tell me how
I think I have to do the procedure with the SP Flashtool because the display of the faulty phone is not usable

Same as mine. The display controller seems to be another one.
I'm guessing thats just a kernel problem, right? The drivers in the kernel?

P8000B is almost impossible to brick. If you install SP flash, and download the correct recovery (like TWRP), and the correct version ROM's with scatter.txt you can recovery the phone in just about any circumstance. I put the P8000B recovery files on my PC, Formatted whole flash and bootloader. After that, the phone was bricked, and wouldn't turn on. Loaded the P8000B system recovery scatter.txt, and SP flash installed it perfectly. Booted fine. With SP flash it's almost impossible not to be able to restore the P8000B as long as you have proper files,

there is no Stock ROM, no scatter file and I think not even a TWRP or Philz Recovery available for the 'new version' of the P8000 - I call it P8000(B) because it is written on the box of the phone.
Emileh made a good description of the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/general/2016-version-fingerprint-scanner-t3436270
But you could help us if you can provide the necessary files....
Is it the us version? It's the same one I have. I'll post a video how to soon
******EDIT******
FrauHofrat, sorry I did not realize that there was a "Rev.2" out for the P8000 US Version. I am surprised Elephone hasn't released a flash-able version for SPflash yet. Honestly, it would be in their best interest to ship any Rev of their US versions w/ TWRP and freely distributing flash-able images/scatter.txt, so if it gets bricked during a failed OTA update, folks would not have to send their phones back to be fixed. I have the Rev 1 of that phone.
Any word on the Elephone forum regarding the Rev. 2 version for images/scatter.txt? I will keep an eye out. Is there any specific model related info that shows up in About Phone, or written on the box/battery?
Sent from my p8000 using Tapatalk
We're not talking about the P8000-B here, which I believe has different LTE bands so it's better suited for the USA
We're talking about P8000 6.0, which is the newer version of the phone that's currently being shipped in Europe. It has some small technical changes and stock Android 6
Edit: by the way, the box does say P8000(B), but I don't really trust that description
Hi guys,
I was just looking at the elephone forum and found this: http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-11929-1-1.html#.V7WrLDWbfSY . There's the stock rom link for the 2nd revision of the P8000, so hope you can get it working properly again.
@ardrift
Thank you for this information - the ROM works and the phone is alive again!
But there is still one thing to do: because of flashing the wrong firmware my phone lost the IMEI. This should'nt be a problem on rooted devices but the stock ROM resists all attempts to be rooted

Can you try dialing *#*6813#*#* in the stock dialer app? Someone on the elephone forum has written this as a solution, altough I don't know if it works, or how would it work... If you are stuck you can upload a screenshot, I can look at it
PS: Your IMEI numbers should be sticked on your battery, you can see them if you remove the phone's back.
Change IMEI on P8000
@ardrift:
first I thought this is a joke but actually it worked :victory:
with *#*#6813#*#* entered on the stock dialer you can acess the "IMEI-Tool" which allows you to enter a new IMEI for both SIM cards. The new IMEI stay permanent even after reboot and this also works on 'old' P8000.

hi guys, i got a new HTC ONE M8 from China Mobile 3 days ago, when i got home i realized that it works with Sina Weibo instead of asking me for my google acount like all the previous Android phones i had before, i went to the store asked for a refund.. not happening. I paid 800 bucks for a phone i cant use.. so i went ahead and tried to solve the issue and root it, i followed a threat here every instruction but i messed up somehow and at the end i wasnt able to enter the recovery mode, so i couldnt install the rom i downloaded (this is the guide i followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705292 ) so being unable to do anything i went to a tech today, he charged me 100 bucks to "solve the problem" and he was able to S-OFF the phone and i was finally able to get into recovery mode with TWRP but he said he didnt have any rom cause the phone was too new.. so i came back home where i had the ones i downloaded from the link i posted above... followed the insutrctions and installed the rom, everything seemed to be fine but then when it rebooted, nothing happens, the phone is stuck on fastboot mode and wont load into the operating system, i have tried to reboot a million times, updated the kernel , updated the twrp... still nothing. i am in china and have been trying to find another tech.. no luck at all. can someone help me or give me ideas on what to do? i would really appreciate the help!

You should be able to just flash any GSM ROM unless the Chinese model is a different variant. You could have bricked it, never a good idea to flash incorrect ROM for a device.
May I ask what ROM did you flash and for what device?

What does "totally dead" mean? Any charge LED? Any response when connected to a computer.
Also, not a good idea to dig up a thread from 5 months ago, with limited relevance. The top post did different steps, and was stuck in fastboot, which doesn't sound the same as your situation.

May i know where did you find the Old Rom of HTC one M8 China phone? Please Send me a Link. Its for MTK6572.
What Device you have?
Hello XDA!
I've ran into some hardware related issues with my Z1 compact (the earphone jack is glitchy) and i want to send my phone in for repairs.
The thing is i have a modded cyanogenmod firmware on it as i preferred it over the stock rom. I also have that clockword mod thing.
As you can tell i'm not very accostumed to doing these things and i was wondering if anyone would guide me on how to restore the phone to its original stock setting?
The phone is a swedish device so i would need the scandinavian versions i'm guessing, any ideas out there?
Thanks.

You just need to find the right firmware for your region / provider.
I would recommend IaguCool's thread on Xperia Firmware Downloader & Checker, if you have flashtool installed you can make your own ftf that is exactly right for your phone. All the instructions are in the thread.
Hopefully you made a copy of your TA partition before you unlocked it and put CM on your phone? it may not matter if you have not, as long as it looks stock.

Thanks, i'll check that tool out. I don't know if i made any backups of my TA partition, but probably no because i don't know about it.
Is there a way to see if i made a backup of the TA partition, could it be stored somewhere on the phone after installing clockwork mod?
Thanks for the help!

If you didn't do it, then it won't be saved anywhere on the phone. You have to physically copy it to the hard drive of your pc for safekeeping.
It doesn't matter, it won't stop you from restoring the stock rom and I don't think not having it voids the warranty. Maybe somebody could correct me on that?

Definitely didn't do it then. Hopefully they won't give me any trouble for rooting it, it's worth a shot anyway.
I've downloaded the firmware but it doesn't come in the same sort of package as cyanogenmod, are there any guides you can recommend on how to apply this firmware to the phone?
and donĀ“t forget to relock the bootloader with flashtool!

You'll need a copy of flashtool and the adb drivers.
Flashtool will turn the downloaded files into a tft file, but all the instructions are in the thread.
If you get lost then XperienceD's AIO thread will guide you in the right direction
I downloaded flashtool from sonys website and it actually listed stock firmwares in a list which i could apply to my phone so i did.
Now the phone boots into what seems to the be stock firmware, however i was going to go into recovery just to check that was restored too and not the clockworkmod i had previously installed but it seems i cannot boot to recovery anymore, what can i do? Where can i find the "stock recovery" that these phones comes with? I want the phone to seem as it was never rooted/changed on the software level

You have flashed the Sony rom, so now it is stock, with no root or recovery. There isn't a stock recovery. Your work is done.
Isn't there a menu you can boot to that gives you the option to wipe cache partition and do some various other stuff? Perhaps this is only for samsung devices, sorry for the confusion and thanks for the help!
Hopefully the service goes as planned!
Is still the way to do it or is there any new ways ?? I have bought a Z1 Compact for my son who is 8 and he wants it back to stock. It has CyanogenMod now.....cant recall what version though since i dont have the phone with me.

I managed to break my XT1676 also, couldn't find the NPPS25.137-15-11 image either.
I ended up flashing NPP25.137-33 using RSDLite but modifying the flashing script to not flash the partition layout or the bootloader as they are older versions and got it back up and running. If you had that image on the phone previously and you have an unlocked bootloader you can do the same.
Let me know if you need more instructions.
Cheers.
Thank you for replying, raiamino.
I'd like to ask if is there any other option especially for phones with locked bootloader? I'd like to reflash my phone because it became unbelievably slow and laggy after some time. Factory reset didn't help much.
I flashed a lot of phones in the past (for example Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, Lenovo S60...) but this phone really surprises me about flashing. I found a lot of custom ROMs here on xda and I was thinking about flashing some also, but I'm a little bit scared of it - I don't know, which one is compatible and which isn't (nowhere is written if is custom ROM built for 2/16, 3/16, SingleSIM, DualSIM... variant). I need Moto Gestures feature (really useful thing for me) also, but don't know, if any custom ROM supports it. Do you know about any which will not cause brick (or hard brick) if I will flash it? Thx in advance.
Btw, sorry for bad English, but it's not my native language. Greetings from little big country - Slovakia.

you can do the following - warning it will erase everything on internal storage including photos music downloads documents etc - backup to sd card or laptop first if you want to keep these things
put phone into fastboot mode and connect to laptop
In a terminal/command prompt window assuming you have fastboot installed type the following
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
When you restart your phone it will be like the first time you switched it on (albeit with upgraded firmware version)
LineageOS supports moto gestures - For me they all work except shake to open camera app but you can set it to open with a double press of the power button
Flashing a custom rom designed for your phone will not hard brick it as it will never touch the bootloader so you will always be able to enter fastboot mode
Of course you can soft brick which means it either bootloops or you cant access recovery if you don't follow the correct process but you can solve that just by repeating the process correctly
All right, I will give it a try at evening (not enough time right now). So If I will do the fastboot command...
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
...what will happen? Is it the same procedure as factory reset + wipe cache?

yes but it also wipes everything on internal storage data partition
A reset + wipe cache will format data but not user data (things that are stored on internal storage such as pictures music documents downloads)
It does not format system or anything else
Thank you, it helped a lot! :highfive:
EDIT: what's difference between erase and format in fastboot? Would something bad happen if i do format command instead of erase?

Iv no idea - it will either give an error unknown command or do something
erase userdata is the correct use
Hello,
I have the same phone and like to download the stock rom first before flashing a custom one (RR e.g.). I can't find anywhere a download for this version's custom rom yet. Is there any way to save the stock rom out of the still unmodified phone?
Thanks for your help!
Bro.. check this.. npps is for xt 1676 ( Europe, Turkey ) and npp is for xt 1677 ( India) . Both are dual sim 3gb version phones.. just may be customization difference. Hopefully all modem bands may work.
Npps or xt 1676 unfortunately dont have version above 25.137-15 ( which is an older firmware from what u have ) , so never flash it.
But npp have higher version 72/76/82.
Just in case u are not confident enough avoid gpt, and bootloader flashing.
Btw.. if you have messed up ur bootloader ( cant boot into fastboot) .. i think give these files a try.. btw.. you have nothing to loose since u have messed up pretty bad with bootloader.
This is the only last try till Oreo upadate ( if moto ever release it for g5)
Btw.. if u get successful.. please share.

---------- Post added at 02:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:16 PM ----------
And if u are worried about modem ( which may cause wifi /signal issue) avoid flashing modem or try flashing old modem from npps25.137-15 ( the file is available in same directory) you can use the modem file only for flashing )
I mean.. first flash the complete npp25.137-76 ( i choose that file because its non branded ) .. after successful boot, check wifi and sim.
If everything is ok.. use the same..
If you have problems with wifi or sim..
Use modem file from npps 25.137-15 and flash modem partion only.
Or completely avoid all trial and error methods. And just flash npp25-137-76 with out flashing modem , bootloader, gpt, - its just like flashing a new kernel and system.. everything except system and kernel will remanin the same.
The method works only if u have a working bootloader. If its not there.. there is no way to trial and error things.. till u courageously flash the bootloader and gpt from npp version..
Hope you will get something.

Hi. Sorry for bumping an old thread but I thought it was better then to make a new one.
I bought this phone a few days ago and it had NPPS25.137-72-4 when delivered. Been trying to read up a bit on this device but since I'm used to samsung, it all takes a while to figure things out
Got it unlocked/rooted fine, but I want to make sure I have something to fall back on in case of trouble.
I've been searching for this fw without any luck. Any chance some one got it and can share it?
NPPS25.137-72-4
Or if anyone can suggest a different one that could work. ( I don't really understand the fw names yet)
Thanks in advance.

There's no flash able zips of stock ROMs here unfortunately. Weird for me too since I was Samsung through and through. Take a back up of your own ROM via TWRP or you can use the debloated stock ROM by Fedray on the ROM forum.

Thanks for your answers.Thats actualy first thing I did after flashing twrp to have a clean backup of system and boot.
I also made a few partition backups in terminal, like persist, oem, modem and a few others so hopefully I'm fine.
Do you guys know if I can take stock recovery from lower version fw in case I would ever need it again?
I highly doubt I ever will, but just in case
Edit: If anyone needs a system/boot backup of this fw, just let me know and I'll upload it.

Unzip, put in your twrp backup folder and restore.

I got this too..
Hello there !
I got the RN8Pro, last week and i unlocked it today. I naturally started to look how to root/install TWRP. I found numerous threads with instructions on how to do it but i also found a lot of warnings that it may brick the device, and that if that happens i need a special account to be able to unbrick it. It seems that some methods will work for the Chinese version while bricking others and vice versa. I have the Global ROM version 11.0.3.0(PGGEUXM) and the model of my phone is M1906G7G. Do you think it's safe for me to try flashing TWRP or at least root through ADB ?
I have also searched for custom ROMs and did not find any. The phone is relatively new so i wouldn't mind if i had to wait a bit, but i have also read that people just don't want to develop for it because of the Mediatek chip. Everyone says that development is not possible because there is no source code the the Mediatek chip. But here it says that the sources have been released partially here and the rest here. Is there something that's missing from these repos that makes development impossible ?
I also would like to become more than just a user and learn how to make custom roms. I found this thread that compiles some guides but a lot of them seem a bit outdated and I'm lost. Is that a good starting point or i should i go elsewhere ?
Thanks ^^

I would love to help though. But your post is quite cryptic. More details could be nice like what are the risks, what is need to be done, what to do in case of a problem. Plus, it's my only phone ATM and I am poor ^^
It Is Safe As Well As Not Safe.
I Had Bricked My Redmi Note 8 Pro(8GB) And I Had To Visit Mi Service Centre As I Required Xiaomi Authorised Account Which I Don't Have.
Some Peoples Bricked Their Phone After Flashing TWRP And Some After Flashing Wrong Boot.img
I Flashed TWRP Successfully But When I Rooted My Phone, I Faced Bootloop Problem Then To Solve That Problem I Accidently Flashed Wrong Boot.img File( 10.0.4 Boot File Into 11.0.3) Which Resulted Into Bootloop
But If You Follow All The Steps Carefully Then It Is Absolutely Safe.

I Flashed This TWRP Through CMD
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...overy-unofficial-twrp-recovery-redmi-t4002397
You Need To Press&Hold Power+Vol Down Button To Enter Into Fastboot Mode.
When TWRP Flashed Successfully Through CMD You Have To Immediately Disconnect Your Phone From PC Otherwise Your Phone Will Load Stock Recovery.

I Think You Shouldn't Take Risk As Your Phone Has No Warranty
Just got a Redmi Note 8 Pro with Global ROM and discovered that call recording won't work due to Google/Android Pie limitations.
After some searching, I found (on this forum) that the Indonesia ROM supports call recording on this phone.
Here are my questions:
1. Will burning a different ROM affect my warranty?
2. Will I lose any functionality by switching from Global to Indonesia ROM, and if so, what? Specifically, will NFC functionality be affected?
3. If I ever do a factory reset, will the phone revert to Global ROM?
4. I found the Indonesia ROM files here. There are three files called Recovery, OTA, and Fastboot. Do I need them all? If so, do they need to be burned in any specific order?
5. Where can I find complete instructions for burning the Indonesia ROM? I am new to Xiaomi, and the last time I burned a ROM to a phone was 5 years ago (Samsung); I don't remember anything, so I'd like instructions that assume nothing and don't skip any steps (instructions for intelligent dummies). I found these instructions for installing TWRP, but there's nothing about what to do next, and there's a list of pre-requisites with no explanations (Unlocked Bootloader, Phone Drivers, ADB and Fastboot Drivers), making the instructions insufficient for a noob like me.
Thanks much.

Hey,
Before going any further you first need to make sure what region is your phone. Is it a Chinese phone (bought from AliExpress for example) or a real Global phone (bought from a local store/official retail). Because you could very well own a Chinese phone shipped with a Global Rom flashed on it and this could result in some problems for you in terms of what you can do with it and how you can do it.
If you bought/received a phone with already unlocked bootloader, you should return it.
Unlocking bootloader should only be done by you when you need it.
1. Technically unlocking bootloader, ESSENTIAL step prior flashing anything, void your warranty.
However and that's what is interesting, if at some point you decide to flash back your original region rom (here Global) and lock back bootloader, none will know but Xiaomi servers you once unlocked this device certainly not a local reseller. So in term of warranty you should be safe, that is of course unless you brick your phone doing stuff you were not supposed to do with a locked bootloader if you are following.
2. If not mistaking, I think you loose NFC. Indian phones for sure do not have NFC at all, for their version, the chip was replaced with a 2nd SIM card tray (not shared). Not sure if you read the functionality afterward using rooted tricks.
3. No that does not work this way. When you are running a Rom, any version, if you factory reset that room, you just return to installation screen of that given Rom.
To return to Global Rom, you will need to reflash that Global Rom using the same method you did successfully flashing the Indonesian Rom (or any other rom) for example.
Would be wise to first download the exact version of the Rom you are currently using on your phone for archives purpose (BURN IT on good quality medias!) to revert back to it when/if needed. You can also archives OTA updates of that version you may not have taken yet to apply them manually if you ever revert back to that Global Rom and want to.
4. Different versions depends on what you are doing. In your case Fastboot version is what you need at the moment. You can find all different kind of versions of Roms for your RN8PRO on that site
As for the way to flash them, order and everything, you will need to look for guides online,
I dont think any order matters, just make sure to flash them all before rebooting disconnecting device. But if you are unsure of what you are doing, you'd be probably best using a tool such as MiFlash.
5. Here you can find one from the MIUI community website guiding you through the use of MiFlash to flash a stock Rom on your device.
Just note you do not have to use any tools to flash the .images of all partitions, you can easily doing it from command line using fastboot flash command one after an other.
Also note that installing TWRP is usually not needed to flash stock Roms (unlike flashing custom roms). Trying to mess up with the recovery partition is actually what seem to brick most of the devices.
However please note UNLOCKING your BOOTLOADER is MENDATORY.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
doesnt matter if you switch to any rom variant .i have switched mine to indonesian ,europe and indian and alll worked fine execpt indian version felt a bit laggy .just download the fastboot version of the rom and flash it through mi flash tool xiaomiflash .your bootloader needs to be unlocked and dont forget to check cleann all button in mi flash and dont check clean and lock
I have got global version and changed imei with unlocked bootloader. Can i flash indonesian rom without lose f my imei?
Thanks in advance for your answers
Muad.Dib,
Thanks for your detailed reply.
If I understand correctly, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty just the same as rooting the phone, so if all I want is to get call recording, I may as well just root the phone and save the bother of flashing a different ROM.
Does that make sense to you, or do you see any advantage to flashing a different stock ROM instead of just rooting the phone? From past experience I've seen that rooting has additional benefits anyway.
BTW, I bought my phone on Banggood. It was advertised as Global ROM, and that appears to be what it has. As soon as I turned the phone on it updated to MIUI Global 11.0.2.1; I don't know what version it was before the update.

You're welcome, I am happy if I was useful to you in any kind of ways.
Well yes and no. Yes apparently you 'could' achieve call recording when rooted (yet I still fail doing so even if I installed the default MUI apps module I got from Telegram group. The setting to automatic recording is set to on yes, but I dont see recordings in the supposed destination folder nor I can see a simple button to record any voicecall I used to have on older versions of Android. Me failing to make it work - I did not try very hard to be honest - does not mean you cannot find someone who succeeded into doing so in that telegram group for RN8PRO).
That said it would not be a 'native' solution, just a patch/workaround. If it works well great, if not, well...
On an other hand by flashing to a Rom which does support it natively, well you are covered for the use you need.
So the advantage I see (with the included disadvantages) is better support for the function which is not supported for privacy reasons en Glob/EU market.
Does that come at a price?
Probably.
For example are you ready to trade off NFC for native call recording support? That may be a choice you have to make in the end. Again that said, if you root your phone on that new Rom, install NFC drivers manually as root (I see no reasons why that would not be possible after all) you may be able to patch NFC on that other Rom since unlike Indonesians market phone, you do have NFC hardware.
For example, myself, I wish I could have made that kind of bargain/trade off, giving up that NFC feature I have no need for, to get 8GB or Ram + 2x Sims + SD and not an hybrid tray. Unfortunately that's not the kind of trade I could make here in EU unless I would have ordered directly from Amazon.in (assuming that would have been possible) or third party website, but that was not possible for warranty reasons among other things.
Hope this helps.

UPDATE:
I finally had the time to test the MIUI-default-apps Magisk module available for download on Telegram group, originally made for MIUI 11.0.1.0, and it works properly on MIUI 11.0.2.0 EEA. Does not require changing Rom.
Hope this helps.
Well, I have finally started the process, but got stymied by the Bootloader Unlock tool (Couldn't unlock. Please unlock 168 hours later.). Quite frustrating. I see that a lot of people have this problem and had to try again more than once, waiting a week between attempts.
Is there a workaround or do I just have to wait a week and hope for the best?
Also, assuming all goes well and I eventually manage to unlock the bootloader and flash the Indonesia ROM, do I use the same tool to re-lock the bootloader (in order to restore the security of the phone)?
And if I want to unlock again in the future, will I again possibly get the "wait and try again next week" message, or does that only happen the first time?
Thanks.

No workaround, you just have to wait (and yes I know how freaking frustrating it was for me...). You can even start meditation classes meanwhile it helps

It depends on what your the flavor of the phone you got. You may want to have a look at that other thread Relock bootloader after flashing ROM Indonesia where we actually covered this exact subject
The good thing about that 7 days wait period is you can gather all the intel you need to be 100% ready when the time come to seriously mess up with things.
So you know, once your bootloader is unlocked, first thing you will want to do BEFORE anything else, is blow off that security which needed Auth Account to unbrick account (ONLY WORKS FOR PIE, ANDROID 9 MIUI VERSION BEWARE).
All information is here: [GUIDE][INFO][PSA] Redmi Note 8 Pro - Megathread

The waiting time is for one time only (THANKS GOD!).
So if you relock, beside having to get your hands on the unlock tool once again and have added the same infos as for the first time in the phone, you will be able to unlock right away.
That's at least a good news
Hope this helps,

Yes of course.
It is a module you can find on the Telegram group called "Redmi Note 8 Pro | OFFICIAL".
Like me you will have to go in there even if you do not use Telegram.
Once there and you got the /notes it is called the default apps.
I cannot share it myself here because I am not the developer of that module, as you can understand that's against forums policies.
All I can tell you is it works correctly on EEA MIUI 11.0.2.0.
Good luck!
Hope this helps.

Hey,
Sorry was AFK for a while. In case you still need answer, going to reply just in case.
Well there is not much to add, you simply install the module from within Magisk once it installed, you reboot, and it works out of the box, you go in the settings and you set it as you like.
Good luck!
Do i need to root before installing it ?
