Moto Power Pack Micro work with Otterbox Defender cases? - Moto X Accessories

My friend as a Galaxy Nexus and an Otterbox Defender case. Is this long enough to fit in the charging port through the case?
Will it work with the Moto X in an otterbox comutter case?

I have a Otter box defender with a Maxx & I have to trim clumsy plugs to get them to fit. Is that what you are getting at?

Yup exactly
Is the metal longer on this one for the plugs to be thin enough to fit into a case like that?

I cannot tell, how could I?

Going off of pictures and my own Moto X otterbox case...I would say no. The Power Pack plug looks like its pretty much flush to the pack itself, while the otterbox probably has about a quarter inch of plastic before you get to the plug. Unless you dremeled the case or something like that, but even then you still might not reach it.

I've never seen it before, but nice find. In my hometown, too. I may get one of these to for when I go out on the boat. From what I can see, it's like the Otterbox case but much cheaper.
That looks almost identical to the otterbox defender case, I wonder if the kickstand is any better on this one.

lol....I'm in the same boat as you. My latest failure was an aluminum case which I actually like except for the fact that the metal interferes with the reception. I don't like bulky cases. The only reason I'm considering this one is because it looks like it will kinda-sorta protect the phone against the elements when I take it on the boat. I wouldn't use this as my daily driver because of the bulk.
Except for the kickstand, that thing is identical to my OB Defender. Nice find!
Definitely looks like a decent case. I would probably get one if I didn't already have a Ballistic.

yea the colors are nice too
The price dropped to $9.95. Just bought it a few minutes ago. I'll let you know next week how it compares to my Ballistic HC case and a Otterbox Box defender.

I saw a mall vendor selling them, he claimed they were made by Otterbox but I highly doubt that. They did seem to be of decent quality though and I would of picked one up if he didn't want $20 for it. Not that I wouldn't spend $20 on a case, I just knew a generic case could be found cheaper online. The only problem with this style case is it's made backwards, the soft material should be on the inside like a CandyShell, not on the outside like the Cyclops. I really don't like having silicone on the outside of my phone, too sticky and doesn't stay put. That said it seems like a good deal, I would be selling them for more if it was my listing.

I have the Trident Cyclops case too. It's headphone jack and and connector ports at the bottom are a pain to open. I saw the Trident Kraken case at the mall, it's not any better. I'll compare the Cyclops to this new case from Ebay, in addition to the Ballistic HC and Otterbox Defender.
I bought one a couple weeks ago. I compared it side by side to a real otterbox defender and only noticed a few things different.
The otterbox has the kickstand built into the case and this uses the existing kick stand(like the commuter). The bar going across the camera and speakers is plastic on the real otterbox and silicone on the knock off. The headphone jack and usb jack covers dont fit as well as the real otterbox
I got mine for $8 and am completely satisfied with it

How compatible is this case with cables? I have the Ballistic HC case. The bottom of the case is an odd trapezoidal shape. It doesn't let my micro usb cable from monoprice be fully inserted/"seated." Have you run into this issue with the Ebay case or the Otterbox?
With my ebay bucks certificate it made it 8.57. I couldn't resist. I got the black one with the white trim on front. Looks nice. Thanks OP, nice find.

despite the backwords design of the Cyclops its still one of my favorite evo cases. i personally don't have a problem accessing the charger port and I've never tried using the headphone jack before. I agree the design of the openings could be better though.

the monoprice micro usb cables won't fit in many cases, you need to find a cable with a smaller head (inset **** joke here).

Folio Case

I got the Otterbox for my Xoom when it first arrived, having 2 kids and chucking it in and out of the car I was wanting something hardy to protect the device.
However after a few months now its a bit too bulky for what I want.
Does anyone here have a decent folio job they can recommend thats protective enough without the bulk?
Preferably in the UK, I like the look of the Zoogue one with its handstrap come headrest strap but to get one and get it shipped over here is going to cost £50..

Mines just turned up, you can have the device in the case but as the ports are covered you have to have the case open to plug the charger in, and because the charger is at the bottom you cant really have the Xoom on charge and use it at the same time, unless you have it in your hands, on that point the Otterbox wins as you can put it in its stand thing unside down and have the power cable in what is then the top, folio cases dont let you do that :/
Here's hoping the Xoom2 has its power in the side because with this folio you can access the power, camera, speakers, sim/sd slot, the only slots you cant access while its shut are the bottom ones, might not be an issue for the majority of users but tbh you would of thought that someone in Motorola's "asthetics" department would of tested it with at least there own accessory line....
I ended up getting this for my wife's Xoom and it works well while being much thinner than it looks in the pictures. Here is a link if you need:
http://www.amazon.com/Quality-Leath...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321142040&sr=1-1
I bought the AYL case off Amazon. The current version has the bottom ports exposed.
I originally had the moto folio case, but I definitely prefer the AYL one, not just because the ports are exposed, but because it seems to be decent leather.

Thin case?

Right now I have an otterbox but recently I've been taking my phone out of my case and it cuts the size in half. What options are out there for a case that won't bulk up my phone?
I've been thinking about trying one of those bumper style cases with one of those clear screen protector type things for the back.
I bought the original samsung ones: http://www.mobimega.com/samsung-efc...iginal-slim-case-twin-pack-for-galaxy-s3.html
there are 2 slim cases in the package (it's transparent, maybe a bit white). Costed me about 8€ for 2 cases. It's good, the only thing that bothers me is the place around micro USB port. If you have bulky cable or charger, the case prevents to plug it in to USB fully, and it's easier to slip out. But works. Really, no big deal.
I just ordered a dba tpu/PC case, I'll let you know how it is when I get it. I think otter box is about as bulky as you can get, really wish there was a lifeproof case for the s3.

Personally I really like the Spigen Ultra Thin Air series cases. They really add almost no thickness to the phone at all. However, I should mention they don't fully protect the top and bottom rims of the phone. If you're looking for a bit more protection, the Cruzerlite Androidified cases are pretty nice and very affordable.
The DBA thin grip is a good thin case that comes in 5 colors.

If the DBA ultra is a 2 part case the 1st layer is TPU and the outer layer is PC.
You can mix and mach the difftent colors for a custom look.

i also bought this for about CDN$15.
the fit is so perfect no one knows there even is a case!
it also fits into other cases like belt holsters.
as mentioned it comes in pack of two. i sold the other one for CDN$10 so it only cost me $5 for one. lol

With this case, if you lay the phone down on a flat surface (camera side down), does any part of the phone (i.e. camera) touch the surface? It's hard to tell how thin this is from the pics, but looks cool.

No part of the camera will touch any flat surface... It's protected. Also, if you lay the phone down on the screen it's also protected by this case.

Just curious, why even bother with a case after a certain point? That samsung case is nice looking but will it do anything at all for protection?

not really for fall protection, but to prevention of scratches on the back cover.
i did not have any case for my brand new phone for 1 week, and i'm so surprised the amount of micro scratches on the back.
still want to sell the phone when the next nexus phone comes out.

Powerdock for Moto X with Otterbox Commuter case

Is anyone using the Otterbox Commuter case with the Powerdock for Moto X? I am thinking about buying this but I do not want to remove the case every time. The site says you don't have to because it allows for 2MM thick case...thats not much room
I've been wondering the same thing. But I went with the defender case..,

Just curious if anyone has been able to test the dock with the Otterbox Commuter case. I just got this phone and case this past weekend, but I missing having it docked while at work.
Well the answer to my question is no. It will not fit UNLESS you cut off the bottom flap of the otterbox case that covers the power charging port.
I have this dock and I can set my phone on it with the otterbox on. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005HY4UOG/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?pc_redir=1387820700

Thank you for the recommendation. It's also available at TigerDirect for a bit less: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1981862&srkey=YYi1-KV8071
It's a bit more than I wanted to spend, but if it's something that will last for awhile, regardless of my phone or its case, I may give it a shot.
I got it at best buy for like 20, may want to check their site. Bought it in Sept for my Rezound but works even better with the X
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Well the answer is don't do it, I did. I bought two docks and two cases , 1 each for me and the wife. The Moto X in the case did not fit on the dock.
I have no issues removing the Moto X from the case to put it on the dock at night (I did it with my Note 2 and it's dock). But my wife wants simplicity and the dock I bought her is going back.
Additionally, the otter box dock is several times hard to remove and I hope over time it gets easier. My former galaxy note 2 and otter box commuter case were easy to use.
I considered buying a thinner case but that won't work, she's tough on phones.
Hope this helps

[Q] Case that covers ports

Hey guys, I'm going to be traveling in a week and I wanted to grab a case that covers the ports just to be safe. I know otterbox usually has these types of cases but sadly they aren't making any for the N5. I looked through most cases on Amazon and all of them seemed to not cover the ports up. Has anyone come across one that does? Preferably under 30 dollars.

The Armorbox port covers suck, for lack of a better term. The TPS plastic doesn't serve well as port covers simply because the material is a little too rigid.
The Ballistic SG Maxx case however uses a silicone setup for the port covers. Works very well.

There are no otterbox cases for the N5 though.
Maxboost case purchased. I don't use the hip holster but the case is great for $9.99
Black case does attract lint but besides that covers all ports but leaves holes for the mic and 2 holes for speakers.
Surprisingly doesn't add much bulk despite the pictures looking like it does. In short I'm very happy from a fairly demanding customer.
I am however waiting for a Trident Case as a higher quality one with maybe some color. This is a great cheap option for people who want a decent quality case until the heavy hitters come out. :good:
