[Q] How to enable LTE on D-850PR - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey. I just got a Puerto Rican version of LG G3 and I do not have LTE option in mobile network settings. Workaround is to go to service menu and select GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto there and then it works on LTE just fine. Any way to get it into the mobile network menu
Thanx!!
PS: using on Telus in Canada

Noone knows I guess.......

I made a guide in the general section on how to enable LTE, check it out here, and see if it works for you.

[Q] How toggle 4g LTE?

Hi guys, I'm the owner of the LG E980 by AT&T. I'm using it with the Telcel provider in Mexico, and i just can't change the network between 2g, 3g and 4g, or cdma and lte.All the time seems work on 4g or LTE mode. I've tried using the option in the dialer *#*#4636#*#* but in this options doesn't exist any option to switch this kind of networks. I wish any of you guys could help me. Thanks.

AT&T Likes to lock that kind of thing down. Telcel is not cdma I think you mean WDCMA which is 3G.
Anyway if You have a PC and some good computer skills check out my thread to flash the Telcel rom on your E980 and the option under mobile networks is there and working thats the rom I use on my AT&T E980

[Q] No 3G (only LTE) on E980 CM11

Hi guys,
sorry if it's a noobish question or has been asked before.
I have a LG E988 and updated my stock LG firmware to Cyanogenmod 11 M6 snapshot version for E980. It works in every aspects, except of 3G. However I try to assign my 'Preferred network type' to '3G', it only works on LTE network.
It seems like it's missing the 'driver' or firmware for 3G modem. Is it possible?
Thanks for help.

I am running m6 and selecting the 3g network works fine. I think LTE can also be toggled in the quick settings panel, perhaps you could try and turn it off from there.

I tried that (I am aware that there is a 'mobile network' on off switch AND there is the 'LTE' on off switch), not working. I even tried the "*" *4636*"*"* method of preferred network, no luck.
Could it be because this edition is aimed at LTE or this is ridiculous? Or is it a possibility that my model is E988 not the 980?
SOLVED
Thanks guys, it is solved now.
My dearest Service Provider, Telenor Hungary has a dual APN settings: 'hypernet', which apparently provides LTE only, and normal 'net', which is a 2G-3G-LTE solution.
Strange.
Thx for the help, though.

I'm having the same problem with Three UK, no 4G. Although 4G worked on my Lumia 1020 with the same SIM a few days ago.
If I go into the hidden menu under LTE you can set it to use LTE and it connects to 4G brefiely then goes back to 3G and it never shows GSM/ WCDMA / LTE auto in the mobile networks menu, just GSm / WCDMA auto.
I noticed on the demo unit in a Three store that the phones software version was V10a-EUR-XX whereas mine is V10g-HKG-XX.

if you have root you can try deleting (or renaming) LTE Config.apk from /system/app

Is there anything that can be done without root? I've tried setting the LTE in the hidden services menu and it connects foe a few seconds and then goes back to HSDPA. If seeting to LTE only it stays on LTE but not sure how it will work if I leave 4G coverage? I've also enabled fast dormancy but that doesn't seem to help.
There was a discussion about this in the UK thread, some phones came with 4G deactivated (on the 800MHz band used by 3 and Vodafone) that had to be activated at every boot. Replacing it fixed the problem as its not supposed to happen. But since the phone is from Asia who knows. Im not sure if flashing the eur version of the rom would work?

fast dormancy is a network dependant setting that has nothing to do with the generation of signal you are receiving.
The only other option you have is to try and flash another firmware version.

LTE will work from the hidden menu, or download 4G switcher from the Play store which will take you to the menu also. Just change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA and it will work on the 4G network (at least on 3 UK). LG UK support will not help as it came from HK. I still want to know if I can flash a Euro 32GB ROM to my phone to get it working natively.
make sure u have activate your LTE with your carrier,i you have done it,and still didnt have LTE, try the hidden menu,or try 4G switch frm playstore, rooting and deleting lteconfig from system/app would be your last option (i prefer this)

thank you, this fixed my problem!
my lte/3g/2g settings was everytime reset to 2g/3g modus when i got back to settings. i deleted lte config.apk and the .odex file, rebooted and BAM! it keeps on lte/3g/2g
Solved
I had the same issue (no LTE option in Networks configuration menu), until today: My phone installed firmware V10i-HKG-XX, and now I have the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" option in Preferred Network Mode.
Cheers

Do the following -
1. From the dailer, type in 3845#*855#
2. Select LTE Only
3. Modem Setting
4. RAT Selection
5. GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto
You should now receive 4G but everytime you reboot, you have to repeat this procedure

Nope. They'll let you lock out LTE, but the mode options are as follows:
GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto
GSM/WCDMA Auto (no LTE)
WCDMA Only (No GSM or LTE)
GSM Only (No WCDMA or LTE)
I was happy to find this much, I came from AT&T, which doesn't let you do any of this. Given T-Mobile's incomplete LTE deployment, I can understand not putting in an LTE Only option, they're not going to be fully deployed until mid 2015.
Maybe once they're more deployed they'll add an LTE Only option.
LTE only would give you data only. You need hspa for voice. Until voice over LTE is regular, you won't see this option
Data is all I need. Was just curious. Maybe once CM hits the G3. Thanks for all the feedback.
Hi
Open the dialer and inter this numbers:
3845#*851#
Then choose:
LTE-Only > modem setting > RAT Selection > LTE Only
if u having other models like D855 - D856 - D858 or any LG device running android lollipop u can use this method
3845#*Your model#

@al5zMri thanks a lot man!!! This works on d855 i have unlimited LTE data plan but... only LTE -_- so it was incredibly annoying to constantly check connection mode while downloading. Now i wont waste money anymore!!!
Hi. It worked well on my G3-855, to force LTE only. But once the phone is forced to LTE only , now how to go back to the menu to cancel the "LTE only" if I need to registrer on an GSM or a 3G network ? Now once it's on "LTE only" which works fine for LTE, I can't enter anymore the hidden menu, the phone dosen't "dial" any number as it can't find a network to dial on. LTE is considered as a not dialing mode - it's data only. Thanks.

Where i had 3 or 4 bars on my s5 active I get HSPA unless I go in to settings and sellect ATT:LTE from network operators which only last until my phone goes to sleep then im back on hspa. Anyone else experiencing this? Or anything i should try? Thanks in advance for any help!

Maybe with hidden menu access via dialer, you can permanently enabled it...I don't know the actual code that might work for your device..but you can find it through here..In general threads maybe
I had to set the proper APNs on my H815, additionally I had to tell it to use GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto under Network Mode in the Mobile Networks settings.

After that, it's been using LTE where available.

Thank you @Daptonic . I was attempting to use the "ATT nxtgenphone" APN because it works better on ATT devices but I guess the ATT Phone APN is needed for non ATT devices. Rebooted phone and it went straight to 4g. Thanks for responding.
Edit: dammit, it went back to hspa again......
