Hi
Any application exist that we can make some apps not to use Internet data???
Because my problem is I will buy only 100mb data for one month just because of whatsapp chatting but some other apps like Facebook linked in and some other system update apps consume lot of data and it will be over within 15 days, so how can I make other apps not to use my Internet, if it is possible normal setting please suggest me???
Thanks
Santosh

You can use mobiwall app from playstore and it has option for blocking apps internet usage for both wifi and mobile data.

don't need an extra app
you don't need an extra app... :
Settings -> Data usage
Down there's a list with apps -> tick one and then on the bottom there is "Restrict Background data" to prevent apps using the mobile connection.
Another way is rooting and use AFWall+ from fdroid repository

Yes, but you lose all background connectivity with the app when on cell.
Settings | Data Usage | Set mobile data limit
- You can set the limit very high if you like
Now scroll down to the apps list and for every app that you only want WiFi notification (no cell notification) tap on that app, scroll to the bottom and select 'Restrict background data'.
Now, even if you are not at your limit those apps will only connect in the background on WiFi...
Awesome, thanks!! When you say I will lose all background connectivity, what do you mean? Do you mean that I won't get notifications when WIFI isn't on? If that's the case then that's how it is currently.

That's correct - the apps that you manually select will be denied network access when you're on the cell network but will automatically be allowed when on WiFi.
So on cell they won't connect to the world and you won't get notifications...

... which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if you have a capped data plan. You can still refresh your data manually in most cases, such as from opening your weather app, re-opening your ScoreCenter app,...
Has anyone seen John Connor?
Hi!
I have a HTC Desire HD and I have some problems with its 3G connection: I can use apps like YouTube, WhatsApp and the weather forecast ones, but if I have to load Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Foursqaure and some others, I can't connect, as if it were no signal.
I tried every kind of option in connectivity menu, but anything doesn't work.
Is there a way to manage it? Some friends, in the same place, with the same mobile model, the same phone operator and the same apps, didn't have the same problem. I guess there is something wrong in my setting. Could anyone help me, please?
Thank you.
E
Do you have any sort of firewall/data monitoring app installed? Some of these can block any and every app from accessing the mobile network while only allowing certain well known ones.

Try using an app like NetLive or Internet Speed Meter to check if your data is working on other apps like chrome (and on these apps)
NetLive - shows live data usage in notification and widget with the app using the data - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.richardlucasapps.netlive
Internet Speed Meter - shows live data usage in notification bar - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.internet.speed.meter.lite
If that doesn't work, try asking your service provider to send you settings, or configure them manually.
When I installed CM10 on my Xperia ST26i, data settings were completely missing and I had to enter them manually, it's been working great since.
Ookie i reverted back too stock d issue ws only wid whatsapp not wid other apps like chrome and browsing ws faster wid play store faster than stock rom

Do you have photos upload over mobile data on?
Nope and I have sync off.

And you turn it off from the google settings, yes? And not from the account sync option for google photos backup. It snatched 871mb of my data yesterday.

Sounds like something like this. That's a crazy amount of data.
Maybe try installinga better app to monitor data traffic and figure out what's using it.
I actually just found it to be the twitch game streaming app, which is kind of odd considering that it is registering under android os and not twitch.

Yeah, crazy. But for some reason the google photos settings doesn't stick. I came to know it was it when i check data usage. When i check in account settings, google account keep on syncing. Checking further, the refresh arrow is next to google photos backup. No matter how many times i force it to stop, it keeps on running. Then when I check in google setting, it does have the Google Photos setting. I disable that, and boom. It's gone.
My phone went crazy hot during that time. But since i was traveling, i didnt pay any attention to it. Silly me.
