I have an old AT&T Galaxy 3 with 4.1 with a custom ROM
I would like to bring it to 4.4
What is the process?
Can I go straight to stock 4.4 or do I need to go to 4.3 first?
(Some of the ROMs I see posted say I need 4.3 boot loaders)
I was thinking to go to 4.3 stock then 4.4 stock then root?
All through Odin.
Thanks for your help

Howdy - I've moved your thread to the Q&A section, where it belonged in the first place. The development section is strictly for things "that you made" - questions go in Q&A. Please familiarize yourself with the rules link in my signature & take this as your warning to only post in development when it's appropriate.
Thanks.

This is in the wrong forum. I've asked one of the mods to move it but you can not get to 4.4 through odin at the moment. If you use a custom recovery you should update to its latest version using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools&hl=en
Select your device then pick recovery. If you use CWM I would suggest using the latest philz recovery. Or if you use TWRP upgrade to the latest version of it.
Next you want to goto this thread and grab the firmware for your device. This should save you having to reroot it as well. Flash the firmware then the rom you want to use.

Yes. I thought the Cyanogen team put up a clean, I/O-derived JB rom that can be flashed in recovery.

I've got a rooted device.. stock gnex otherwise. How can I get the 4.2 ZIP flashed?
Thanks!
Download mod. Install cwm or twrp and flash not too hard
Also there are tons of ROMs with all 4.2 modifications I suggest you try some out

I suggest before doing anything, read the stickies found in general and q&a by efrant, for example. How to return to stock and android 101.
Unlock bootloader. Then wait for the source for 4.2 to drop, you can count hours after that till someone posts a build.

I recently got a new Galaxy S2 Epic 4G touch from Virgin Mobile (Build D710.GB28), and it comes with stock android 4.1.2. And since I had been using 4.2.2 in my nexus device I dont really like the 4.1.2 look. So now I want to flash 4.2.2 in my S2. But the problem is I couldn't find any post specific to my build. There r other instructions but those are for previous build and most of those instructions seems to have centered around ICS as their stock android. So is there any post that has instructions specific to my build. Has any one flash 4.2.2 on 4.1.2 in a Virgin mobile S2. Or should I just double flash, 1st ICS and then 4.2.2.
Please Help!!!!!
Thank You
Our phone comes with android 4.1.2 not 4.2. Go to original development and try out cyanagenomod 4.2.2. Make sure your rooted, have a recovery installed and then flash rom, gapps, and a ICS modem. (Get f15 zip file for modem)

Flash the ICS modem. It will work on stock JB as well. Then flash your rom of choice.
I use CM10.1 on a Virgin Mobile S2 as well.
I am currently rooted on the stock 4.2.2 ROM.
Is there a 4.3 ROM I can flash via twrp ?

Sure, there are lots of them.....
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/development
Those roms are all TWRP flashable custom and semi-stock rooted roms.
Many of those are 4.3 custom roms, check it out.
Any of those roms are fully compatible with your phone.
Good luck!

I tried a couple of 4.4 and Jovys 4.3 but went back to 4.2.2. There are certain Xposed modules that don't function properly. It is a hassle just for App2SD. I just use FolderMount and call it a day. Don't fix what ain't broke.

Hey guys,
I've got a Galaxy S4 on T-mobile in the UK, with the build XXUEMKF. Its Rooted but its running stock JellyBean 4.3 Ive not taken any OTA updates as im looking to install a safestrapped Custom Rom. Just needed some help to make sure I don't soft brick the phone lol.
Im looking to install the Deadly Venom V3.0.2 KitKat SafeStrapped edition in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45657764&postcount=4
Few noob questions though if anyone could help me..
1) The thread title says its for the AT&T version but Im on t-mobile UK, is this going to be a problem or would it still work without bricking the phone?
2) Its got 2 different install instructions, one for people who have the Mk2 build and another process for people with the Nb1 build. I have neither, I have the MKF build..Can I still install this rom on my S4? If so, should I follow the instructions for the Mk2 Method?
3) Im running Stock JellyBean 4.3 right now, can I still install this safestrapped rom or do I need to do an OTA update to the latest KitKat update? Kies says the latest update I can do is Nb3 apparantly?
I hope someone can give me some simple answers to this, Im quite confused. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks guys
You can flash from 4.3. I'm on MK5 bootloader t mobile and I just clean flashed with no problems so far

The model number is GT-i9505. Only reason I want to use a safe strapped rom was to avoid tripping knox because my phones still under warranty
Should I follow the install method 1 instructions as if my device was a mk2 version straight from my stock 4.3?

Ah I see.. Well not sure I don't think many of us here use that method and I'm not familiar with it.. You should try asking in a safestrap thread if there is one on the at&t forums.. Not sure if it would even work with your model, better safe than sorry!
