Hey there,
Been noticing a lot of camera stutter/frameskip when shooting video with stock app at 1080p. Stock rom (most recent Tmo update), rooted, native camera app. Tried internal and sd card both. Also have rebooted, no help. I'm checking the files both on the phone and my pc, they stutter in the same spots so it's not a playback issue. Am I the only one, or are others seeing it?
This has happened with every Non-Touchwiz based roms I have flashed.
Currently using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989907
Is there any fix for this? I'm heading away on a trip in a few weeks and I'd rather not have flash Touchwiz just to record video at 30. I've always been a fan of stock android but this is the one bug I cannot stand. I've searched on here for weeks but never found my exact problem, hence this thread.
This happens in every camera app I can find, the image preview in both photo and video mode appears to stutter and lag. Obviously in the photo mode it doesn't matter, but the video maintains this lag and low fps into the video recording. It may even appear to be lower than 15, but I haven't measured this. The front camera appears to be unaffected however.
Regardless of the video/audio codec and resolution combination I use the problem still persists.
There's also a bug where instead of stereo audio, there is only audio in the right side. But that doesn't bother me as long as there is a fix for the fps issue.
Thanks.
Hi, need to ask for your help. The camera of a friend Z play loose focus while recording video and doesn't focus again. This problem is not present while taking pics.
He already restored the phone with no luck and he is still in 6.0.1,maybe if he upgrades to Nougat the problem will be solved? Or maybe he needs to go to technical service? The phone still has warranty.
I attached a test video.
Thanks for any help.
I'm using Cinema FV-5 for years to record videos. It has several options, including for focus and do not have focus problem.
I have a Galaxy S9 Duos (Exynos) and I have an issue when viewing an HDR clip (ex YouTube) on a very dark environment - like at night, in a room with no lights.
When playing the video, the screen keeps changing brightness depending on the light coming from the clip. I suspect the brightness sensor reads some of the brightness from the screen and, as the images change in brightness, the screen brightness changes too. It happens only with HDR videos and I have no issues if I watch the video in normal or dim light, only in complete darkness.
I am wondering if any of you have experienced this?
I have the same in certain scenarios on my Exynos model.
i have the same issue - but i dont think is to do with the light in the room but with youtube app
i aslo have HDR on netflix and Amazon - and i can confirm both work OK
on you tube however it changes - flickers id say - based on whatever is displayed on the video -
so am guessing is a youtube issue
It's good to hear that I'm not the only one having this issue (so my phone is not defective) and it's even better to find that it's only on YouTube (I don't have any other HDR streaming services to test it with). That means it will probably be fixed pretty soon.

Hi,
I have a similar issue with the YouTube app on the S9+ exynos version (UK) but after the March update it didn't happen again for the same video. Although, when I compared YouTube playback with the S8. It didn't seem that HDR was enabled for the same video.
Also the native video player is also not playing back HDR video with it enabled although 'HDR' is bold in the title, identifying that it is a HDR clip. The same clip plays on the S8 with HDR enabled. I wonder why it's inactivated out of the box.
I contacted Samsung on Friday 9th March and they took my serial number and IMEI. They said they'd get back to me this week.
I'm getting this with the S9+ Snapdragon version. Doesn't seem to happen every time though. I killed the youtube app and when I watched the same HDR video again it didn't happen this time while HDR was definitely on.
Doesn't do it when watching in normal light conditions but constantly does in low light .
Same issue here...
S9 plus-US
I also have the same problem in YouTube I'm using s9 plus snapdragon version US , I usually keep the brightness about like 10 to 20% and when I enter into a HDR video and tilt my screen the brightness just goes up drastically and sometimes flickers.
The fix is placing it in cinema mode and turning off adaptive display mode whenever you watch hdr on YouTube on the s9 or s9 plus. Adaptive mode changes the brightness especially in low light when watching hdr. Also keep video enhancer on........
Hello! I'm a little new to custom roms and stuff (the only experience I have in custom ROMs is flashing Android 13 on a Galaxy S3),I hope it's not a big deal.
I've been having this weird issue on custom ROMs (I've tried crDroid and Pixel Experience so far) where video recordings output a horrible static and buzzing noise.
This ONLY happens while the camera is in use. Voice calls work completely fine.
I've tried different camera apps, Open Camera, I've tried GCam, hell, even Snapchat does this.
A video is attached below.

I might try flashing back to stock to see if that fixes it, I really hope I don't have a hardware problem.
Thanks in advance
