Got 2.2 from the latest OTA and have been encountering some video issues. Just wondering if anyone else has them, and if there are fixes.
The major issue I have is videos lag and stutter. With 2.1, 720p videos recorded from the rear camera worked flawlessly. Now, those videos have short stuttering pauses every second. It makes it very hard to watch. 480p videos do not exhibit this problem.
Is it because the data is not being streamed off the SD card quick enough? Some evidence to that is that the thumbnails in the Gallery take noticeably longer to show up.
In 2.1, when I long press on a video in Gallery and select Details, it would show resolution and framerate. This info is not present in the current Gallery. Is there a fix for that?
I'm particularly interested in framerate, because in 2.1, I noticed that videos would be recorded at low fps when the lighting was dark. (some vids I have even dropped to 10 fps!) Perhaps HTC couldn't fix the low fps recording problem and instead just swept it under the run by not displaying the framerate info at all.
Videos played through Rockplayer worked fine in 2.1. Now, the audio is just loud static. Is this related to the codec change in 2.2?
When I come across a .3gp video file with Astro, clicking on it will come up with a "3gp file type missing" message. A workaround of longpress-> open will open it, though.
Searched but couldnt find anything except SE said that the video recording issues will be fixed in 2.3.3. So can anyone confirm they were fixed (freeze, stutter, audio sync etc.) Thank you
The video stutter issue was found when I was using an old class 2 micro SD card on 2.3.2. After I have changed to use a class 10 card from Transcend, the Burroughs recording issue wad not found (before update to 2.3.3), see if I have time to test back the previous slow card on my updated 2.3.3. But anyway I suggest you get a class 10 card since the system use the SD card heavily for storing application data, this will improve the system performance, especially the gallery appear, and seems pretty much everything.

hopefully it works..
I never experienced this in 2.3.2 but maybe because i changed to 16gb class 6 right after purchase
Confirmed as fixed, I have taken multiple videos with 2.3.3 and no glitches. with 2.3.2 I did have some.
i have not recorded much before 2.3.2, but made some recordings post 2.3.3 and no issues at all.
rumnyc, bustervic,
What is the class of card you use?

I thing class of card is not important in this moment because whatever card rumnyc used on Android 2.3.2 he had problems with recorded video and after update on Android 2.3.3 he don't have any problems. For me this issue is fixed. Personaly i didn't have any problems on Android 2.3.2 with recorded video.
So far I have not encountered any problems, have recorded 3 X 10min clips and have not seen or noticed any undue pausing as I did originally before updating to 2.3.3. Iam still using original 8Gb card that was supplied in retail package.

Poor playback of recorded video ??
Rather than start another thread on poor video recording I thought I'd ask for some help here. I have read all the XDA threads I could find on the problems of video recording but still don't understand where the Arc is at on this particular problem. I do have the 2.3.3 update (flashed UK O2 .145 firmware) - everything on the phone works great for me, except this problem.
Yesterday, I tried out video recording and while I was actually doing the recording I was very impressed. I was filming in a massive indoor barn where my kids were jumping during a horse riding lesson, so lots of movement and a little bit of moving the camera around in the video.
I liked the fact that I could see on the screen that the lens picked up most of the width of the barn, so I had to do little moving left and right with the camera. I got used to where the lens is positioned so didn't have any problems putting my finger in the way.
I watched the videos back on the phone straight afterwards - looked great. I was really pleased with the whole taking a video experience.
BUT, the problem is that when I transferred the videos on to my computer and tried to watch them, they are incredibly jumpy, lots of missed frames and jerkiness - nothing like playback on the Arc. Basically, they are unwatchable. I played them back in lots of different media players - all the same.
I recorded in HD, with and without image stabilisation, everything was really quick on the phone such as starting each recording, and the film was almost immediately available to watch once the recording had ended (something that even my old digital cameras couldn't do so quickly. I am only using a Class 2 Sandisk card but I don't see that can be the problem.
Please, if anyone can suggest a fix or explain what the situation is - I didn't even know there were recording issues on the Arc until I read that they were fixed with 2.3.3 (and thats what I have on the phone).
Thanks

Look Frenchdroid, dont worry u r are is prefectly fine as far as i know
u r camera is perfectly fine
they problem lies in your computer or lappy
i thnk your computer graphic card or hardware is not capable of playing 720p(HD ready) or 1020p(full HD) videos, thats why u r experiencing this problem of dropping frames and installing media players or updating codecs wont solve this problem but upgrading your computer hardware may do the trick...........
IF my post helped you use thanks button....
Hey - thanks for your reply. You know what ? You were right. I feel like an idiot but hey, at least I'm a bit wiser now I'm not used to all of these video formats and stuff like this.
do not worry we at xda , are like a family, always ready to help each other......
most videos i record has audio and video out of sync even lowest resolution (VGA)... it mainly happens after first 1min or less... it is very annoying.. is this normal?
i am on leedroid gingerbread a2sd+
getting worse... now the video is fine for first 20sec and then it's chaotic... there's huge frameskips... image freeze... audio finishes very early.. video is like 2min without audio .. is it normal?? recording on wvga....
I have the same issues, anyone know how to fix it?
bump!
me 2. really curious to finally hear something about it. i've had this problem since day one after rooting and flashing custom roms...
If that happens even at low res, then the problem might be your SD Card.
Look up SD Card class.
I recommend a class 4 minimum.
Most ROMs have issues recording on 720p, but that might be an hardware problem.
It's just not enough and it starts skipping frames...
You should also check the main thread for your ROM to see if there are any reports of those same issues.
This has happened with every Non-Touchwiz based roms I have flashed.
Currently using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989907
Is there any fix for this? I'm heading away on a trip in a few weeks and I'd rather not have flash Touchwiz just to record video at 30. I've always been a fan of stock android but this is the one bug I cannot stand. I've searched on here for weeks but never found my exact problem, hence this thread.
This happens in every camera app I can find, the image preview in both photo and video mode appears to stutter and lag. Obviously in the photo mode it doesn't matter, but the video maintains this lag and low fps into the video recording. It may even appear to be lower than 15, but I haven't measured this. The front camera appears to be unaffected however.
Regardless of the video/audio codec and resolution combination I use the problem still persists.
There's also a bug where instead of stereo audio, there is only audio in the right side. But that doesn't bother me as long as there is a fix for the fps issue.
Thanks.
I've installed Lollipop Rom, Blisspop Rom, Cyanide L Rom, CM12.1 Rom, I've install all of them one by one to try them out on my LG G3, and the problem I'm Having in ALL of them is that After I record a video, The video does not appear on my gallery. I've check the settings. I've put my setting to save video to internal memory, and still nothing, I record a video, the Phone icon for recording works and everything however, I press stop, then go to the Gallery to view the video and there is no video there.
I've put my setting to save video into the sd card and i get the same results.
Does some on know why this my be happening to me. ???
Ok I figured out that I was recording in 4k and the video does not appear in my gallery. when I record in anything below 1080p in either the front or back camera, everything works fine and I'm able to view the recorded video.
Now I'm just wondering What is the purpose of being able to recorded videos in 4k but i'm not able to view them , even when I record them in my internal memory.?
I understand that maybe my SD card is not 4k compatible. But shouldn't the internal memory be able to record the 4k videos with no problem!
