I have done stupid things in my life, but this may top them.
I purchased an used AT&T Optimus G Pro (E980) few days ago. I bought it unlocked and was using it on T-Mobile network without any problem. I live around the area where I get LTE. AND I was getting LTE. I was successful in rooting it and was in the process of installing a custom recovery when I softbricked. No problem, right?
1. I first tried to use (TOT) found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420219 to get back to E980 stock. I could not get past 25% no matter what.
2. I then used (KDZ) to install F240L firmware. Dumb. I know, but at the time I did not know better.
3. I then used (KDZ) again to install E988. I had signal but only 2G speed.
4. I then used (TOT) to flash E980 stock. Great, but no signal. I tried various stuffs to get the signal working. I flashed all AT&T modems found. I tried installing different custom ROMs. I tried using dial pad method. I tried modifying bulidprop, but nothing is working.
5. I have also tried flashing Taiwan KDZ, Hong Kong KDZ, Central America KDZ, Panama KDZ, and German KDZ. I also tried 3 different AT&T TOT files. I can get signal on Taiwan & Hong Kong KDZ, but no signals on others.
6. I have successfully rooted my phone using Towelroot. I have installed SuperSu, BusyBox, an GPRO Kitkat Recvery.
6. Also, when I tried to flash different recoveries, it fails. PhilZ Touch CWM fails, and my phone is being recognized as the LG F240L and does not let me install at all even though I fully flashed Taiwan KDZ file (E988). LG 240L KDZ file is the first one I flashed when the AT&T TOT failed to flash.
I have no idea what I can do to get my LTE back. If someone can give any advise to get my modem work right, I would appreciate it. I am game to flashing any fimwares or trying different roms or anything.
Thanks.
Any help or suggestion is really appreciated.

Hello, I hope you already solved your problem by the time I'm writing this, but if you haven't, here is some extras to consider.
It could be funny to think about it, but it happens to everyone, we do everything we should, and we forget the basic stuff.
For basic stuff I'm referring to going into network preferences and setting up 4G/LTE as preferred network, you may also try to scan networks and see if a 4G/LTE network is on the list for your carrier, and obviously select it, if you don't see 4G networks then there could be an issue with your modem-rom combination, try something else.
Other thing is the APN, remember to set up the proper APN, maybe your phone had the proper setup when it came to you first but you wiped it all when you started flashing roms.
There are other advanced options that I haven't used to try to set 4G as preferred networks, but since I don't have 4G with my carrier I haven't had your problems to know they are, be sure to google them or search here on XDA.
Hope this helps bro!, let us know what works for you of if you still need ideas.

Thanks for your suggestion! I have an option to select GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto which has been selected. I have also manually entered the correct APN setting. I think I had messed up my phone when I flashed F240L firmware, but I am still looking for a way to get it start working properly again if possible.

So I was running on stock, rooted rom. Everything was working well. But I wanted to get rid of the Korean apps.
soI flashed a stock based rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462453
Flashing was successful, but my phone no longer reads my sim.
So I went back to stock by following the guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Again it was successful but my phone does not read my sim anymore.
I tried different working sim, same problem
Tried reflashing. same thing.
Also I noticed it does not show my phone IMEI under phone identity.
Can anyone help me how to fix this, or point me to a guide I could follow?

Any luck in fixing this problem? I'm having the same issue after trying to install Update v5 with Knock On. I tried installing the basebands but most of them will give Service Disabled with Unknown IMEI. But the E988_HK_Final baseband shows the IMEI and Phone Number but has No Service though or very weak signal. Also, it seems like the QRemote also stops working in my case.
Please flash LG F240L Rom (KDZ File), It will work,

It looks like your EFS partition is corrupted. Did you back it up through Freegee before installing the custom ROM?

I had this happen to me with an e980 out of the box. I ordered it online, and was in the process of adding my apps and customization without ever rooting it or doing anything outside of warranty and all of a sudden I got "Insert a valid sim card". Just happened out of the blue and I only had that phone for 12 hours. It is some rare hardware issue that AT&T couldn't figure out either. I believe it is the sim slot that is malfunctioning because in mine it wouldn't recognize any sim card but my sim cards worked in other phones.
If you have a contract phone, undo root, flash the stock rom, factory reset and call tech support. They replaced mine for free because it was determined to be a hardware issue. Good luck.:silly:
I bought an F180L ( F180L - Korea LGUplus - LTE (LGUplus Band) / GSM / WCDMA / CDMA) ( it was a mistake, I was told that is the same as E975 and took it for granted. Already regretting it.). My goal is to be able to flash the latest custom roms and have good data connectivity ( if I am only able to have 2G speeds, it's no good). These roms are mostly created for E975. After browsing a couple of topics:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334023
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434917
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38438579
I understood that the F180L to E975 conversion is not an easy thing :|. Even impossible.
Because I am not so familiar with modding and I will struggle ( I have to google search most of the terms here; my experience only includes the unlocking and rooting of mere two android phones), I created this thread in order to make this trasition as safe as it gets.
I have already rooted the phone with fromaroot. SuperSU is installed.
I tried to take EFS backup ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2164749). I assumed that I need to install a custom recovery ( CWM) or is there a stock recovery that can do the work? I pressed volume down+lock key and it only offered to return to stock condition.
I then tried to unlock the bootloader with FREEGEE. Well, that didn't go as planned either: i am seeing a white screen and in the notification bar it says installing, while it is already installed. Already istalled BusyBox ( I assumed it wanted me to, as when I pressed on the Freegee app icon, it sent me to busybox app in market).
Kind of outside my waters, would appreciate any hints
Hi!
I had the same problem - got an F180L (name Optimus G is the same as on the real E975)...
My problem was/is that FreeGee bricked the phone totally! Only download mode still working... I was coming from rooted stock Korean ROM 4.1.2. (F180L20S or F180L20R)
With the download mode I flashed TeenyBin and pushed via ADB a custom rom (CM10.2 that time) and GApps,
voila - CM10.2 installed.
Do not use TWRP as it has a different model identifier and you would have to modify CM ROM everytime you flash them, stick to CWM 6.0.3.7!
Also - do not flash any different BASEBANDs - as it is korean, you cannot change the available frequencies with simply flashing a different!
In germany I could live quite good with the korean one - LTE was no option for me (which would never work in germany though with a F180L)
But 3G and 3.6G+ (HSPA) was working well! (2 different networks tested: Vodafone and O2)
Hope thats helps a bit
But my next step is: revert back to stock as described in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48327429#post48327429
As I got my Nexus 5 and want to sell my good "old" F180L
here is a externallink
Thanks sunyakram
Both methods tried - no success!
Not that I have a problem with a rooted phone and CM, but others might have...
after doing a fresh install of "D85510l_00.kdz" that i downloaded from http://lg-firmware-rom.com/ for my IMEI now i dont have 5G at all.
i have restarted my router few times even changed the wifi name but my G3 doesnt even see the wifi name.
my old HTC ONE X see's it and can connect just fine.
so somehow i lost 5G capabilities, not sure why. can anyone help out?
thanks
checked other stock KDZ file as well, Northern Europe D85510A_00.kdz, same issue. no 5G.
so i rooted that and installed supersu and twrp and then installed rooted v20c lollipop and voila! i can see my network again.
then restored stock KDZ back (both of them), no 5G.
anyone?
Have You try KDZ from other source? or different version, i personally use 10h so far the best form me and i don't have any issues on this version, also wifi works great at 2.4 and 5 GHz, i have AC router.

well these 2 have this issue so far:
-Northern Europe D85510A_00.kdz from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
-D85510l_00.kdz from this website: http://lg-firmware-rom.com/
roms with no issue are rooted lollipops installed after rooting any of the first roms including:
-D855-20A-Official-skin1980
-LG_G3_D855_Stock_20C_Bumped_Fixed
i have also downloaded few stock d855 lollipop KDZ files inc:
-D85520A_00
-D85520C_00
but these have UI issues when flashed on cleaned/wiped device so i cannot check whether these works with 5G or not.
im really confused with these issues on this phone and its roms.
Hello,
I followed this guide to restore my sprint LG G2 to stock Kitkat 4.4.2. Everything went fine, the phone is working, the only problem I have is that I can't connect to any network. The phone is not recognizing any of the local network providers. I bought this phone on ebay and it came with a custom rooted rom installed on it, so I decided to "clean up the mess" and restored stock kitkat. As I mentioned before everything went fine, but the network is not working (it was working with the android version before i restored stock 4.4.2). Maybe its because I'm not living in the USA (I'm from Bosnia/Europe). Should I flash a different radio on it? The phone is updating atm with OTA and I'm pretty sure that the updates wont help. Did anyone else had these issues? Any help would be highly appreciated.
Update: My phone just got upgraded to Lollipop, but the network issue is still present
Update 2: I just reinstalled "cm-12.1-20151031-NIGHTLY-ls980" Lollipop 5.1.1. and it had no problems to find all the networks in my area, so this clearly has to do with stock LG android 4.4.2.
When you say you can't connect to network, are you referring to your mobile carrier network, or like WiFi?
If it's your mobile carrier that you can't connect to, you might need to switch your radio. Take a look at this guide and the section about using radio switcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/help/how-sprint-lg-g2-ls980-to-t-mobile-t3230685

Hey there. Sorry for the late response. I kinda gave up on making the stock LG ROM work, which is why I kept on using CM12.1 . What I was referring to was my mobile carrier. The phone has no problems connecting to any WiFi signal.
I didn't try to flash any radios at all after restoring the LG G2 stock ROM. Maybe I should have tried one of the radios from this CM12.1 for LG G2 tutorial. Here is a direct LINK to the full list of LG G2 radios, where I downloaded the radio for my phone. I'm not sure if the other LS980 Radios would work on my device. There are 4 different radios available for the LG G2 LS980.
Do you think flashing one of these radios would help solving this problem after restoring the LG stock ROM?
Dear all,
I got a strange situation and I've tried several options already, but I'm lost.
My LG G3 D851 (T-Mobile) is currently running on Lineoage OS 8.1 and my 4G is not working.
Even though I selected 4G preferred. Highest what I get is H+.
I've found a modem file, but that screwed up my 4G and 3G completely.
It doesnt matter which custom rom I select it will not allow me to work with 4G.
If I go back to the original Android 6 Rom I got 4G.
Who got an idea to get this fixed?
Is your IMEI still There ? Does your Phone Show Up at qpst? You did Not Read
anything i grüess so you probably havent Backes Up your efs? Ist there No Connection at all? Flashing Roms will Not fix your problem. But you should Go to Marshmallow Stock For now.
Custom Roms only Work with 21c and lower maybe you Just flashed The Wrong Modem. Google For The XDA LG G3 Modem thread

The 21C thing is incorrect. Each variant of the G3 has their own set of modems. There is no 21C for the D851.
If memory serves we had 10 series (KitKat), 20 series (Lollipop), and 30 (Marshmallow). I'm currently using 30D modem from last time I had a factory stock installed. I get 4G/LTE on all of the installed ROMs (KK, LP, MM, N, O). Even when I was on 20G they were all good, though I didn't have Oreo at the time.
@Mr-Dutch, I have a small collection of D851 modems up on Mega. Since your last stock was Marshmallow I figure the ones to try, if you elect to do so, is 30D or 30E.

LG G3 D851, Mahdi v2.9 ROM (4.4.4), microG (NoGApps), MultiROM, XDA Legacy
Yeah my Bad that was for The 855. And there IT says in The Post that IT only works Up to 21c but Not sure If thats still a Thing.
So have you tried flashing a Modem? And does IT Work now?
