mentioned this regarding the new modem that just came out days ago:
Unless someone can confirm more radio/modem changes/improvements already claimed by T-Mobile regarding this M919UVUFNH7 update, there should be no expected improvements aside from the new in-flight wifi.
Am I right people?
So if you are not wanting to use wifi on an airplane in the near future, there isn't really any reason to flash the new modem binaries. Unless you just like the hassle of Odin flash, don't reboot, pull your battery, stick out your tongue and hold your head just right, -repeat

I9505 FW on M919

I am seriously thinking of getting a M919 but I really hate the slow fw update from carrier.
Does anyone know if I9505 FW will work on M919?
Since the hardware is basically the same, I am thinking if I can just extract the system.img from I9505 and wrap it into the M919 FW. Thanks.
I'm wondering this as well, assuming that the modem and is not flashed.

Exactly. Don't flash the modem or you will end up with a baseband unknown/IMEI = 0.

So, just don't flash the modem and the I9505 FW will work on M919?
IIRC Steve Kondik(Cyanogen)'s current personal phone is a M919 (jfltetmo), so there should be a LOT of interesting ROMs coming out shortly.
Source: his G+ account (I don't have a high enough postcount to include the URL here)
If you're only interested in official OTAs from Tmo, they will obviously take a while to trickle out.

I am interested in official international ROM but not the official carrier ROM as the international ROM always gets the most updates. So I am looking for a easy port of I9505 FW to M919 since most of the hardware of both devices are the same.

I9505 Rom tested & working for M919 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291523
This is awesome. So this means that if I buy a tmobile GS4 any roms from the international i9505 work for the tmobile version? Since it is the same phone hardware. So this means that when samsung updates the international s4 i9505 we can have those updates too for our tmobile gs4 am i correct? in a custom rom of course you dont want to flash a none tmobile modem... But like on my GS3, the international already have roms from the leak 4.2.2 and due difference in the hardware we cant port those roms but in this case with the GS4 we can...
Am I correct?

So, basically I just grab the I9505 FW from Sammobile, remove the modem inside and everything will be good to go?
That will be great to hear!
I extracted the I9505 FW tar and saw some files I cannot recognized. Does anyone know what those files are? Should I flash those or leave them? Thanks.

depends on how you're trying to go about this. are you trying to build an actual ROM for recovery or TAR for Odin? i'm assuming you're trying to make a ROM. you need just the system.img from that. then pull our cache.img for the csc stuff so you have a signal, etc. then pick a boot.img either from the i9505 FW or from the T-Mob FW. just remember to also grab the respective modules. this is all i've needed to build a full working ROM.

NON-HLOS is another modem file. i believe modem.bin is for standard GSM. NON-HLOS.bin i believe is for LTE. regardless, don't grab either of them from the i9505 FW as they are def modem (Baseband) parts. not sure what tz.mbn is nor aboot.mbn but you don't need them. again you just specifically need system.img components from i9505. you could essentially just pull that and use everything else from T-Mob FW and it will work.

1. system.img.ext4
2. cache.img.ext4
3. hidden.img.ext4
4. boot.img (if i want international kernel)
5. recovery.img (will international recovery work on M919?)
Plus all other files from M919 FW?

Cool but my point is that all quadcore S4 are the same hardware not the octa cored.. You know samsung updates their international ship first ad there here we have to wait for the carrier.
in this case we dont no more because we can just grab an i9505 rom from their leak updates.
So this phone is really a worldwide phone same hardware. not the octa cored.
People have been saying that this phone is not really that much of an upgrade from the S3 in this case I think it is. It doesnt matter if tmobile takes a while on releasing the newest update you can still get it from any other quadcored phone thats have it..

Updating Radio/Modem

Hello guys, sorry if this is a noob question for you Sammy guys (I'm more used to Nexus devices), but I was wondering if it is possible to update the baseband version on this device? More specifically, I was wondering if I could update to an international radio/modem? If not, does anyone know where to find the latest radios for each device. I tried searching but only could come up with an older thread for the version I already have (MDL). On my Nexus One and HTC One S we could flash any baseband we wanted, international or carrier release. Thanks!

No.
Do not flash any radio other than the ones made for your device. At best it won't boot. At worst it won't let you Odin back to the correct radio and it will never boot.

Yeah but a new modem update by itself will probably never be a super improvement. So you probably aren't missing out on much.
Its not like an updated modem will let you talk to the Moon or something.

Spot on. Apparently, T-Mo is supposed to release their 4.3 update early to mid November (consult General Section for source). Then and only then would we be able to use a 4.3 TW ROM without cell network wonking out like a drunk. Hopefully T-Mobile could be at least 1/3rd useful this time and actually push out an update for once.. (you can feel my hatred towards carriers...... =.=).
EDIT: SOURCE THREAD, towards the last few pages starts the talk of the rumored T-Mo Nov. release.

There is no M919 Tmobile 4.3 dump.
That's the problem, the only dump and the flashable zipfile rom
available as of yet is for the international versions of the S4's.
Flashing an international version of the 4.3 rom into our M919
phones even if it worked properly we would be losing wifi calling
and most like the LTE feature plus who knows what else.
You are wrong there is a t mobile4.3 dump for very long posted in general section : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2478553
Sent from my SGH-M919V using Tapatalk 4
We CAN run the TW 4.3 ROMs and have full LTE as normal (except for Wi-Fi calling b/c that's a T-Mo specific feature), the only issue is that data randomly cuts in and out. I don't understand how I could run AOSP 4.3 with no issues but 4.3 TW gives problems...
The thing is, only us T-Mo users have data issues, not the international or any other carrier. So it MUST be the radio version that is the cause of the problems, which is why we must wait for T-Mo to finally release an update...
Has anyone dare to flash international MJ5, JM6 modem? I mean our bootloader is unlock right? If it don't work can we just flash back our old modem? Just a thought.

[Q] I have had my phone rooted since it came out. Do I need to flash a new modem?

I switched over to Tmobile when this phone first came out and I haven't had a GSM phone in quite some time. I looked around and I am unable to find a thread for Tmobile modems for this device. My current baseband version is N900TUVUBMI7. Is there an updated modem that I need to flash?
There hasn't been a firmware update yet for the n900t. Mi7 is the original fw the Tmo Note 3 launched with. So there aren't any modems right now.

Assuming you have the official 4.4 update (bootloader, KNOX, etc) you can't downgrade your modem. Being as NB4 is the most recent modem available, you cannot change it until a newer firmware is released.

SGH-M919 is the T-Mobile variant, so it should be no problem.
The easiest way to go back to stock is to use KIES, but that will revert you back to V.
You can download stock and flash with ODIN. As long as it is stock T-Mobile and you have a T-Mobile account, WiFi calling will work fine.

No, the modem wouldn't be your problem. Since you are already updated to the official 4.4.2, you now have KNOX to worry about. If you don't care about setting the 0x1 flag, your best bet would more than likely be to flash a custom recovery and a modded/stock ROM specifically for the M919 from the Android Development section. You keep mentioning that you have a Nextel device... just to confirm, you have a T-Mobile SIM, correct? Because if not, WiFi calling won't work for you anyway.
Yup, I have a T-mobile account and the phone has a T-mobile SIM in it
I don't think that KNOX flag is an issue as it is an unlocked Non T-mobile phone.
If I have an issue with the phone at all T-mobile is not going to support it.
The model phone I have apparently is exactly the same as the T-mobile branded phone, when I registered it with Samsung they identify it as a T-mobile phone.

Like I said, you'll probably have to forget going the Odin route and use a custom recovery and modded/stock T-Mobile TouchWiz ROM.

Yeah, most every ROM posted in the development section is stable, TouchWiz or AOSP. Just make sure you read the OP to confirm that whichever ROM has WiFi calling included as there are TW ROMs which have been ported to our device from other carrier's S4s.... Only those specifically for the M919 will have WiFi calling and it will be specified in the OP. I'm not going to recommend which ROM to flash, but from someone who's tried them all... you can't make a bad decision whatever you choose.

Yes, you can. The only S4 ROMs you should stay away from are those made for the i9500 and non-standard S4's (i.e. S4 mini, S4 Active, etc). Any other variant of the standard S4 (including the i9505G) is good to go; just use a kernel for your specific device. On that note though, the i9505 and M919 kernels are interchangeable, so there's no need to follow that protocol when using our ROMs for your device and vice versa.

Thanks bro for your reply, that's great to know and gained extra 150+ ROMs thread as well really good to use great ROMS in this section
After doing some research my question:
The reason I can't use this firmware is due to the fact that my current baseband is higher than the one I was attempting to flash.
I have FNE2 and was trying to flash FNB4?
Thoughts?
Still looking to do this did anything change here? Has anyone successfully with flashing this with the stock ROM?
I'm a T- Mobile customer
Thanks
I have an unlocked Nextel version 4.42 of the SGH-M919Vzlmnx Baseband / modem / PDA version M919VWXUFNE2
