My Fire TV is rooted. I can sideload apps without any issue. Some of the apps I sideloaded are not from Amaze app store or Google Play Store. These apps can check, download and automatically install update within themselves. The issue I have is Fire TV blocked the installation. The screen says Your setting blocked the installation of apps from unknown sources. There is a Setting button at the bottom of the message. However it did nothing when I highlighted and clicked the button. Is there a way I can change the setting to enable the installation?
Thank you

There is a thread somewhere here that explains how to enable unknown sources. It's a setting in an sqlite database.

I rooted my kindle fire and installed all the google apps including Play.
About 30 minutes later I had notifications that there were apps with updates. Like an IDIOT I clicked UPDATE and let it start updating them all. Before I realized the stupidity of my choice it updated the reader with Kindle for Android.
Well, the down side of this is that when you click on a book in the carousel it just opens Kindle for Android to its HOME screen, not the book I clicked on.
Is there ANY way to correct this? preferably with our a complete wipe...

That did not work exactly but led me to a solution.
There was not an option to "uninstall updates" just an "uninstall" (which may have worked) so I went to "Google Play" and found the kindle app there. All it had was the option so I figured I would try it. It came up and asked if I wanted to uninstall all updates. It did just that and all is well.
If I would have tried uninstall from the Setting -> Applications like you suggested it would have likely did the same thing but I was looking for a button that said "uninstall all updates."
I suppose I was taking your advice too literally
Thanks!

Is there anyway I can log out my account on the google play store on my fire tv. The only way I seem to be able to do that is by uninstalling the apks then reinstalling them.

Sorry to bump my own post but has nobody figured out a way this can be done?
You will do all this on your laptop/desktop and not on your FTV.
First log into https://mygoogle.google.com
STEP 1:
Next, once logged in, scroll down to "Recent Activity". In that section, click on "Devices". (Direct link is https://security.google.com/settings/security/activity ). Click on your device and click on "Remove".
I am not sure if you need to do Step2. Once done with the first step, reboot your FTV and fire up Google Play and if it auto logs in, perform step 2.
STEP 2:
Next, go back to https://mygoogle.google.com Scroll down to "Connected Apps and Services" and click on "Account Permissions". (Direct link is https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions ). Click on your device and click on "Revoke Access" on the right.
Reboot your FTV and Google Play should ask you to re-enter your password (or at this time, you can change your email for a different account)
NOTE: I did just Step 2 and my FTV logged out of Google Play. I did not see the menu item in Step 1 while I was playing with it But it looks like Step 1 should do the trick. If not, do both steps. Reboot your FTV to test before you go back into Google Play.
How's it going. I have a rooted fire tv on latest prerooted firmware. I have an application called tinyCam monitor pro. This application worked previously, however, I think that I relocated it to my flash drive on the fire tv via Link2SD, and then maybe changed where the drive was mounted. I'm only taking a guess at what happened, as now when I attempt to run the program I get,"Cannot Open App - The installed version of tinyCam Monitor PRO for IP Cam cannot be opened. Please check for an available update on your library." I also can't uninstall it. It doesn't show up under "Manage all applications" to uninstall, nor anywhere else I can think of looking. When I try to hit the uninstall button under the main Apps heading from the Home screen, the uninstall button disappears when I click it, and nothing happens. There is no trace in Link2SD either. I contacted the dev of the app and they told me to make sure I have the latest firmware. So, I was wondering if anyone had any actual ideas why this would occur and how I could fix it? Thanks for your time.

If you cant uninstall it than maybe you can just delete the file from system, side load ES file apk and install it. I had a similar problem with SuperSU which i wasn't able to Launch it or uninstall it so i deleted the file and side load SuperSU again OR you can try to uninstall using one of the adbfire utility tools.
Becareful what you delete!!!
Thank you
I've side loaded the latest apk but when I open it, it's saying it needs google play services to run. Is their any non rooted workarounds to this? I just want to use my free trial on my fire stick lol thanks in advance
followed the instructions here to get google services working

Hi,
I have Firestick 4K 2019 version, would it be possible to run subway surfers.
KIndly help.
Note: I dont have google play store installed on firestick yet. I request a solution without google play store.
Thanks,
If you have it installed on your phone, you can sideload it using apps2fire. Go in the fire TV settings, select "my fire tv", then go in "developers option" and finally, enable both options there, allow ADB and installing apps from unknown sources. Go in the apps2fire app, go to the "install" tab (the last one) then search for your device. Go back to the first tab, find the app you want to install, select it, then tap install. I can't guarantee that the app will work, as I don't think it's even in the android tv play store, and the app is made for screens in portrait mode. If it works some menus will probably only accept touch input, though you can sidestep that by using a Bluetooth mouse.
Thanks, I will try this and let you know if it works.
I am able to install the application but it didnt launch, I can notice that it is trying to change orientation.
Then installed set orientation apk and but the firestick in portratit mode , still no luck.
Anything else you suggest ?
Thanks for your suggestion
