I updated to KitKat yesterday - sideloaded. It was a huge success! My shiny new Nexus 7 has KitKat.
But today, when connected to my PC via USB, it no longer shows up.... It used to appear as an external drive that I could drag/drop files to. Now? Nothing. And Google support has no idea. They said "maybe it's a result of the OS upgrade."
I tried a factory reset - no dice.
I've tried multiple ports and different computers - no dice.
I tried USBDView and removing anything Nexus/Android related and trying again - nothing.
Anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts at all?
Any advice would be a big help. The PC sees it - but I cannot add files to it. Awful.
Install android-sync you will have to look on Google for it, it installs the drivers u need .. Worked for me when I lost connection. U can uninstall after

That didn't do anything for me - I tried it just now.
Did you lose connection after upgrading to KitKat?
Try enabling USB debugging

I had the same problem, but I noticed that I was able to transfer files if I change the usb to a usb 2.0 port. On 3.0 doesn't work.
For sideload kitkat you need to enable camera mode in storage USB settings. Try to re-enable the default settings. (settings... Storage... More... USB connection...)

My husband deleted all of the drivers on my PC and we started from scratch. Magic. I guess.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
No luck geeting nzbget mobile to work with fire tv. Works great on great on mx2. Anybody any luck with getting this app to work? Or any alternatives with autoextract and file sorting of nzbget or sabnzbd?

Got nzbmobile running on my FireTV. Mounted a 2TB external HDD using stickmount and using my FireTV as a download centre/XBMC machine now. Download speeds seems good, extracting can take a bit longer than I was used to on my computer but still fine.
Crashed for me first as well but tried it again a few days ago and it just worked. App wasn't updated so that can't be it. I did install it from the Playstore though, not sure how I installed it the first time.

I think playstore install may have something to do with it as well. I can sideload all day and no go. I've installed playstore but nzbget mobile doesn't show up. I tried using fix for playstore to fool it into thinking firetv is nexus (forgot what fix was called). Only problem now playstore crashes. ??? Really weird, it's android, how is this so difficult. If I have time and figure this out I'll post back.

Just an update. NZBGET works all of a sudden now after installing play store. Even when sideloading like I had previously. I just started with fire tv restore , rerooted , installed play store again, and sideloaded latest version of nzbget and it worked.

When you've installed it could you kindly tell me if Plex Media Server comes bundled in with this or do we have to wait for a Plex app update separately?

The instal of upgrade is just finished
Yes, I am working on this (looking for the apk)
Yes it is preinstalled
Just to launch Plex, then follow the instructions and Plex create the first libraries if you have films and TV show (just connected a hard drive with 4K and bluray films), it took some minutes, and now I am going to see what it did....
I select the server of the shield but All the libraries are empty (I have no films and TV show in internal memory)!
Now, on my computer (an update this morning of Plex server) the Shield server is here and I can do the job with the libraries (sorry for bad english). I can see the HD on the Shield where are my films and tvshow
EASY !
ALL IS DONE in less an hour !

Thank you pal, I'm hoping it comes bundled in and that we have access to the plugins folder like on the PC version as I would love to install plugins that aren't directly from the plex library.
Just seen your update, thank you. That's awesome news.
After several attempts Plex don't work on the Shield TV : can't play video from the Shield server or pc server and from other devices (pc or Android devices). And Plex can’t play video from Shield server on other devices !

I have mounted the network share on my shield tv, but as i said they are all the same when it comes to permissions so i dont understand :/

I read this on a forum today :
"Mount Network Storage
Mount a network attached storage device (NAS) to SHIELD to access your complete media collection. Stream this media to mobile devices using the Plex app and SHIELD’s HD hardware transcode. Set up in Settings > Storage & reset > Network storage."

How to install the update on a rooted Shield without losing root?
Plex server is old version. New one with samba support is available in Google Play Store. Nvidia does not find it itself, but you need PC to update it.

Same question here, I was going to try installing the ota and losing root and then rooting it again by flashing supersu but I'm not sure if that works.

When I updated from 3.0 to 3.1 last week I did not lose root. And if you do the shield has a system less root that takes like 2 minutes, as long as the bootloader is unlocked

Here is the process for the 16gb for 3.0 to 3.1 . The method should be identical for 3.2

I stand corrected you will lose root if you install the 3.2 firmware. However as soon as you install 3.2 make sure you have SuperSU on your SD card go back in TWRP and Flash it. This is the systemless root I speak of

I was thinking about using that guide again but I'm unable to find the 3.2 OTA files online to flash, I could just update regularly and follow the guide from that point on right?

If PC doesn't detect your tablet, the USB port may be defective. USB charging port has data and power pins, it may charge fine but fail data connection.
This one is easy and cheap to replace

Hi. I am currently attempting to connect my Logitech F310 USB Controller to my phone. It is rooted with SuperSU and I'm Running the latest version of PacROM available for my device. I've tried several third party apps but the only one I can get to recognize my controller is USB/BT JoyCenter. However, neither the app nor my emulators will recognize my keypresses when I attempt to configure the keymap. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
ps: please excuse me. I'm a noob. This is the first time I've flashed a custom rom or attempted to connect a controller on any mobile device.
