Last night I tried to root my SGS3 multiple ways and finally got it root with geohot's towel root. The phone is on TMO 4.3 currently. After rooting the phone, it became extremely laggy and once the screen shut off, the phone would go into "death sleep" or whatever it's called. I would have to hold in the power button to get the phone to reboot. Again once it booted with was laggy and once I let it go to sleep, the phone would lock-up.
So today I'm trying to ODIN back to pure stock, I am using ODIN v1.85 and the stock IMG I am using is T999UVUEMJC_T999TMBEMJC_T999UVUEMJC_HOME.tar.md5 ...
I have tried it 3 times now and as soon as ODIN gets to boot.img it fails! What can I do now? I'm open to all suggestions because I really need to get my phone working again!

OK, thanks! I'll download that and give it a shot. Didn't realize there was a newer stock image available.
OK, now it gets to "system.img.ext4" and fails!
OK, I am at wits end with this phone! I tried every version of ODIN and nothing.... Can anyone shed some light on what I should do next?
This is where ODIN either stops or fails depending on the version of ODIN I use:

Image is broken, better if you just copy/paste the output from Odin's message box.

That's where it would freeze or fail on every attempt I made to flash the stock ROM. When I got home last night, I re-downloaded the stock image again along with a bunch of different ODIN versions. I finally got the image to flash with ODIN v3.04! Very frustrating experience but I am glad I finally got it to work again.
So all is good now?

Yep, all good. I do want to try and root it again but I'm not sure what method I should use....
Towelroot is by far the easiest way. Check my thread in General for instructions.

I have a Galaxy S3 US Cellular SCH-R53U and it was already rooted, i planned on giving it to my sister however, so i wanted to flash stock JB 4.1.1 with odin
i have tried this on another galaxy s3 with the same model and it worked.
While it was working, I formatted the SD card with all of the super user and root files on it, then I booted into recovery and did a full system format.(format data, and wipe cache)
after that, it booted fine.
next i did all of the correct steps in ODIN (checked Auto reboot and F. Reset Time)
selected the correct PDA and started flashing stock.
However this is where it fails
<ID:0/004> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/004> sbl1.mbn
<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<ID:0/004> Added!!
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
It can still boot to download mode but not recovery mode, if i try to boot into recovery, or just a regular boot it says, "firmware upgrade has encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again"
So my big question is, is there any way out of this??? am i stuck with a broken phone??!?
my other question is, what can i do
Try a different usb cord. Also make sure your flashing the right stock firmware. Different carriers have different firmware.

You can try http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31134-restorestock-odin-files-sch-r530-lg1/ because they are for the US Cellular variant. They are old files though so you might have to accept a few OTAs.
YOWZAS! i got it.
Thanks for the responses guys. last night i tried samsung simple upgrade tool, and it stuck at 0%
today after work i tried it again, but this time after rebooting my computer,
it stayed at zero THEN MOVED TO 1%!!!!
anyways it finished and my phone is now fully operational, thanks guys!
Doest any one knows how to do this?
Extracting the tar stock rom get me a modem.bin which i do not know how to flash...
flash with Odin for 'Phone' tab
The problem is I do not have the modems... I only have the stock firmware....
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
you said you are getting modem.bin file after extracting tar file that is your modem file. flash that file using Odin for 'Phone'tab.
Oh! Okay! Thanks a lot... Modems work universally regardless of roms right?
Also csc doesn't matter on cm right?

Pls let me know if I did it correctly.
I downloaded the SG firmware from sammobile
N7105XXDMB3_N7105OLBDMA1_N7105DXDLL1_HOME
I unzip the tar.md5 file and also use CacheRipperUX to unpack cache.img

Then I zip back as per file structure below.
The flash.img I got it from the files that are hosted here. Is it ok to use it?
With this zip, I will flash by rebooting to CWM.
Pls help to see if it is correct before I perform the action. Thanks.
You mean you want the stock rom to root for you as well ?

The device is already rooted and the custom firmware that I'm using is not configured to Singapore modem and CSC.
Hence, I did the extraction and zipping it up as per explanation above to extract the modem.bin and also the CSC from the stock firmware to overwrite my custom.
Is the steps that I've done correct?
If OK I will proceed to flash.
I don't quite understand about the flash_image. It seems to be gotten from somewhere and not from the original stock firmware.

Just copy the contents of the required csc (folder) to system/csc/ make sure to delete files not replaced.
In this case csc will be applied after a data wipe. You don't need to mess with cache.
Also just replace modem.bin with a required one.

Hi all,
This is my first post and I apologize if I am in the wrong place!
I have been reading through the different forums associated with my issue and have yet to find a fix for my particular situation. So here is the deal...
I can in to download mode just fine but when I boot up normally I get pushed to the stock Android Recovery screen where I am bombarded with red error messages identical to this:

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
I have exhausted Odin as well as Kies. I have tried re-partitioning using pit files (I did not have a backup of my own so I might just need the right one however I got the T889V pit file from one of the forums on xda). I continuously get stuck at "Get PIT Mapping" and "NAND Write Start" when using Odin and have tried flashing it on its own and along with the stock tar file I got from SamMobile.
I am wondering if anyone has any other ideas that can help as this is for a friend who is not tech savvy whatsoever.
* I will also note that I have tried uninstalling the drivers and kies and ending kies processes while using odin.

Hi All, Got A bit of a problem cant seem to figure this out
I was upgrading to Stock M919UVUFNK2 I got the file from Shineyside stock Tar files it was a 2.5 Gb file from his Mega account I believe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/general/firmwares-official-mdl-mk2-nb4-t2816508
and was following this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/help/nb4-to-nh7-firmware-upgrade-via-odin-t2880284
so after I upgraded Via Odin everything passed I rebooted the phone but it was stuck in a boot loop screen from T-Mobile for almost 2 hours
I Pulled the battery the put it back in and rechargred my phone for a bit then I tried to reinstall M919UVUFNK2 via Odin again then it failed now I get this Screen

I have tried several times to reinstall NK2 but it keeps failing now in Odin
When I try and go into recovery I get the screen above.
I still can get in to Download mode though
Can someone help me out or point me in the right direction I even tried Kies 3 and it always stops at about 96% same with Odin
Thanks for any help

Ok Fixed it after many hours of searching it was right under my nose , I flashed the latest TWRP Tar file Via Odin and Viola Stock Rom is working M919UVUFNK2, now unto the root
Good luck with the root, I've soft bricked about 5 times so far trying to flash SU and TWRP. For some reason when the M919UVUFNK2 firmware came out my phone did a auto ota which baffles me since root/SU stop carrier access for ota. All info I've found on downgrading to 4.4.2 will brick the device to :/

It depends how root was acquired, if system files are modified, kernel, or recovery, then it won't OTA. NK2 is rootable, and I've also had no problems installing twrp. Must be something you're doing. What is your procedure?
Hi,
I have Note 2(GT-N7100) so I was using for almost 3 years, recently I decided install custom rom. Anyway I found This rom and I have install it properly. EMMC
Hello and thank you for using the Q&A feature,
maybe the EMMC is broken. If you can tell us, which partition can't be mounted in recovery, we will be able to help you. Are you flashing the Stock ROM with a PIT-File?
Kind regards
