Extract modem from stock rom - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Doest any one knows how to do this?
Extracting the tar stock rom get me a modem.bin which i do not know how to flash...

flash with Odin for 'Phone' tab

The problem is I do not have the modems... I only have the stock firmware....

you said you are getting modem.bin file after extracting tar file that is your modem file. flash that file using Odin for 'Phone'tab.

Oh! Okay! Thanks a lot... Modems work universally regardless of roms right?
Also csc doesn't matter on cm right?

Pls let me know if I did it correctly.
I downloaded the SG firmware from sammobile
N7105XXDMB3_N7105OLBDMA1_N7105DXDLL1_HOME
I unzip the tar.md5 file and also use CacheRipperUX to unpack cache.img

Then I zip back as per file structure below.
The flash.img I got it from the files that are hosted here. Is it ok to use it?
With this zip, I will flash by rebooting to CWM.
Pls help to see if it is correct before I perform the action. Thanks.

You mean you want the stock rom to root for you as well ?

The device is already rooted and the custom firmware that I'm using is not configured to Singapore modem and CSC.
Hence, I did the extraction and zipping it up as per explanation above to extract the modem.bin and also the CSC from the stock firmware to overwrite my custom.
Is the steps that I've done correct?
If OK I will proceed to flash.
I don't quite understand about the flash_image. It seems to be gotten from somewhere and not from the original stock firmware.

Just copy the contents of the required csc (folder) to system/csc/ make sure to delete files not replaced.
In this case csc will be applied after a data wipe. You don't need to mess with cache.
Also just replace modem.bin with a required one.

Thank you for sharing!
Even if it may sound noobish, as basic functions are known in odin:: please can you explain in detail the "new" ODIN functions/features ?

You execute the executable. Thats it. No installation. There are pkenty of guides on Odin use, so I wont get into it full blown here.
I see in your sig youre not on a T999. I do hope you're not gonna flash anything from here.

Dude...if you wanna flash i9300 ROMs, you're on your own. And idk what the heck you're talking about, but /system has tons of device specific stuff in it. The framework is full of radio stuff.
Posted by Mr. Z's Galaxy S3.
Depends on what's in the Odin file. The international version has a way different file system and the boot.img, at least the one that comes with the international miui, lays out a completely different file system with completely different mount points
I'm not too sure how Odin works, but in the international SGS3 updater-script it wipes different system partitions, I guess that could be a reason for a brick

Here are some of the differences in just the init.rc (in boot.img)
On the left is the stock init.rc from the LG8 update (Sprint), on the right is the init.rc from the International SGS3 MIUI (it's pretty much stock)

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here is a quick comparison of each boot.img just to show the difference
The International version also loads modules through boot.img inside the lib folder, not sure if that would cause a complete brick though
Odin doesn't use updater-script. If you flash an i9300 TAR, you're going to be bricked very, very hard.
But do try, and come back here and post the results.

I'm not getting you !!!! Plz explain
Use any root explorer.
Goto /system/
There should be a file named recovery.p or something like that.
It should have the extention .p just rename it or delete the file.

Want to flash back to stock

I found this thread but it seems *way* too complicated (2 "MISC Requirements", lots of Mods, a few "if you have problems with X, do this...").
What is the simplest thread with the most-straightforward flash back to stock? Thanks.

That's it.. Flash that in Odin and done, it's not as complicated as it looks. Problems occur for people no matter what, it's easier if the solutions are in the OP.

The KitKat one (ND8) has been released though, so you could go back to stock that way too

1) Where is the KitKat one?
2) I tried Odin, but the ROM above came in a ZIP file; ODIN is looking for TAR, MD5, SMD, GZ, TGZ files (at least when I pick the "PDA" option). What am I missing?

I haven't looked myself to see if this is the case, but have you looked inside the zip to see if there's a tar?
The tar for ND8 is in the development thread (non-original).

SPH710T-(sprint prepaid) ODIN prob

I bought this samsung galaxy the T model. I rooted using ODIN>CWM>SUPERSU. Now i want to install wickedXrom but I have to update the bootloader to ND8 I believe or else risk bricking my phone. I've downloaded the philz recovery to odin flash it to my phone, but it doesnt show up after I click AP on ODIN, even though i have TWO philz recovery files in the folder. I tried removing ".md5" from the name and it turned into a zip file and that didnt help at all. The problem I'm having is with oDIN. If i try to flash "L710-ND8-Bootloader" I get a fail. If i try to flash philz it wont even show up under pda...
I've been researching and looking around for hours now before i finally decided to make a post.

It's good you're getting a fail. This doesn't apply to the L710T Model. Simply go to post #4 of my thread and there is a link to a tutorial on how to flash with the L710T Model. I'll update the OP to include this information so no one gets confused.
