Hey guys, I need to root my SM N750 running Kitkat 4.4.2
Can i root just by using the installing supersu by 'install zip from sd card' option?
Or do i need to flash philz recovery first?
Thanks!

Now my problem is iam now unable to flash any custom recoveries.. I tried twrp, cmw, also philz touch... Using latest 3.9 odin.. Odin process all are ok also it triggering custom binary count on my phone.. But after flashing my phone wont load flashed custom recovery.. It is loading official recovery even after flashing custom recovery.. Is there any solution for making custom recovery working..?

You've lost your root and knox is blocking to work these custom recovery.
Reroot, desable knox, then retry.
Find dr.ketan's thread regarding this.
Cheers.

Guys
I lost my root (while flashing power box 2 by @mannyvinny) , I tried to root again by using @dr.ketan's multy tool V11 but failed.. then I flash (dirty flash) the rom again (jellykat V3 by @mannyvinny) and everything is fine here (rooted ) but 'SUPER SU' is missing now, what should I do now?

The zip is more universal, but if the apk from playstore works, that is the same functionality. The .zip can recover from lost root in some cases.

Go to this site http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/n7100
and download the md5 file. Put your phone to download mode and flash it via odin. Then you will have philz custom recovery installed.

Same happened for me. Use another USB port and disable your Antivirus program. And if that don't work then try flashing with another pc.

Try Flashify from the Play Store. It will flash it for you

No , the app is called Flashify.
Or try a different version of Odin

You can flash cwm or twrp from ROM toolbox. Its been pretty reliable for me. Very very simple. Like ROM Maneger but it does support twrp.

"Thanks Button" is always appreciated!

Would it be possible to root using the ping-pong root method, then use flashify to flash twrp img?
Sent from my SM-G925T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm sure you can, but that would definitely trigger Knox and would void your warranty. You might be able to also flash a ROM using FlashFire which is supposed to be even better and doesn't require a custom recovery. In fact, if you eliminate the boot and kernel elements from whatever rom you're flashing, you could still remain under warranty (not tripping knox).
Thanks, but I really was not to worried about knox, just wanted a way with out apc.

Yes it definitely is possible, that's how I rooted and installed twrp. Nothing like being able to root and flash twrp without using a PC!
Could anyone point me to the twrp. Img download page for the the tmobile edge?

I also need the recovery.img file. When I open flashify and try to choose the image file I downloaded it is greyed out and won't let me select it. Any ideas? I have tried downloading twrp through the flashify app and the S6 edge isn't on the download links.

I tried flashify, softbricked, took forever to get it back running as im on a mac, and having to use a VM and what not getting everything set up and the right Odin, right files, stock firmware, took me literally all night to get up and running again, and yet i still cant get twrp working on this damn phone.
Try this:
1. Download twrp recovery and zip it with the installer script. Make sure it's named recovery.img
2. Install flashfire
3. Flash twrp update zip with flashfire
4. Hopefully boot into twrp!
This is how I got TWRP installed.
