Hello everyone!
I modified Google Apps for ICS/JB because of the limited storage in the system.
All you have to do is install it in recovery.
DOWNLOAD
Mini Google Apps ICS
Mini Google Apps JB
Make sure that you've done a backup before flashing.
If you got a bootloop maybe you need to delete some apps on your ROM directory: /system/app
Changelog:
20/11/2012
-The links have been changed to dropbox because of problems with mediafire
-Have been removed some apps and libs in Google Apps JB
If you want you can remove Google Talk from /system/app
Enjoy
My work:
-Mini Google Apps for ICS/JB
-Mini Trebuchet for CM9.1/CM10
If I helped you and you like my work push thank's buttom
What did you exactly modify or leave out ?

Hi, thanks for the gapps, works well on Imaginary V4.
Can you make one of this mini-gapps for GingerBread? It's for CyanogenMod 7.2

Sorry for the n00b question but, if I don't need flashable gapps what is the purpose of posts like this one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1536724
Or the other ones that talk about "lightweight" gapps for galaxy ace due to our small system memory?
I'm really confused here, sorry

its wrong. thats it^^
Gingerbread just indicates the version number (or the version name). He would be "righter" with: you dont need gapps on Stock (-GB) rom.
The main purpose of this mini packages are the totally overkill CM9+ / Android 4+ versions. Android above 2.3.x was never meant to run on our low hardware device eventhough its possible as you see. But the gapps sometimes are too big for /system (gapps + "normal" android).
tl:dr version: You dont really need this mini versions on GB. you can, but dont need to use them. In android 4.x you sometimes HAVE TO use them, otherwise they wont fit in /system (due to insufficient space)

Oh, so, correct me if I'm wrong but what I understand with your explanation is that if I'm in GB (say CM7.2) I have to use only the apps that comes with the ROM?
I'm asking this because I flashed CM7.2 yesterday and it didn't come with the google play and I was getting trouble trying to log my google account up avoiding me to install titanium backup to get all my apps again. I don't know if this is a ROM problem or a particular one, but everything went right once I've flashed the "gapps-gb-20120317-237-signed", but of course this also consumed a good 30 or 40mb from the system so that's why I'm trying to find a better way to solve this issue of "limited storage".

I mean you don't need MINI Google Apps GB
Sent from my bq Maxwell Plus
In CM7.2 you need some kind of gapps, because google prohibited usage of build-in gapps.
and your last line is exactly what those mini packages are about. in GB you have enough space for normal packages. in CM9+ you (mostly) do not have that space.
so
CM72: Gapps/mini-apps => both work
CM9+: Gapps => not enough space / mini-apps => only working solution (in most occasions)
this resumee also has its flaws, but i hope i could make the point of those packages a bit clearer for you.
The size of Google Apps GB is around 6 mb, don't you have free system storage?

Hello everyone,
I already tried to find a solution in this forum, but couldn't find something helpful. I hope someone of you could help me with my problem.
Situation:
Yesterday i downloaded the Taktik 4.4.2 Stable 1 and Gapps from this Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525906
Installing and starting Taktik 4.4.2 was successful, but after installing TakTik 4.4.2 i couldn't install the Gapps. The error messages was: "Insufficient storage...".
EDIT: I've installed the ROM and Gapps with TWRP.
An error log was created:

The Problem ist with my free system 2517.00kb and free space required 297.236kb. There is a difference of around 40.000kb. I dont believe that my Desire HD isn't compatible with taktik and Gapps. I have already installed other Android system (4.0, 4.2, 4.3) but hadn't this problems.
Do you have any Solution or need more Information?

Yes! If others DHD/I4G supports this rom then why shouldnt yours
Solution is try smaller GApps if you really don't want to mess up further more.
All I mean is if you install pa gapps modular mini or only core apps and individually setup for every apps shouldn't cause any trouble.
If you're looking for OK Google it will come with Google Now updated one so no worries, other than that rest apps you can download later on from PlayStore.
In Full Package or Mini has total size of file somewhere around 130-200 MB or so. Try flashing Basic GApps(micro gapps) either pa ones or Banks doesn't matter all matters is should be updated. Or else gives error but once you're done with it on your first boot PlayStore will take care of it.
I've had outdated gapps issue but I always prefer to install smaller ones so that System partition doesn't gives any sort of ERROR!
I hope I've covered all your quarries.
Thanks.

I was confused as well. Why would randomblame post a link to a nonworking gapps package? Would surely be my n00b fault! So I'm glad you posted and already cleared that up for me
HI all, I confess I am looking for a little handholding, appreciate help in advance. About to take my first plunge ever into Lollipop and would like to try Illusion. A few Qs...
OP does not say, but I assume I can wipe (System, dalvick, data, cache), flash ROM, Flash GApps, wipe dalvick and cache and boot?
I have seen references to flashing superSU but not a link for it anywhere. Can I just download it from Market After boot?
Gapps :Is the only difference between slim and PA the apps that are included? I originally tried Slim, but kept getting bad MD5; PA was ok...
Finally nothing is stopping me from nandroid back to my current Sr remix setup correct?
Your wipes should be good and flashing SU is not needed any more (activate root in Dev option). I use PA micro all the time. You should be able to go back to SR (backup) at anytime.

About to take my first plunge into lollipop as well, @$droyd$ recommends using slim beta gapps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/slimroms/general/gapps-official-slim-gapps-trds-slimkat-t2792842
There's a graph in the slim thread showing whats included, in the PA thread there's a list of all apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/par...apps-official-to-date-pa-google-apps-t2943900
SlimBeta has a shorter list of apps not included like 'Cloud Print' in the full gapps package.

Okay...
Answer to Question #1) Yes.
LineageOS comes with its own stock apps.
Answer to Question #2) No.
Any GApps package you flash will not overwrite/uninstall anything that comes pre-installed with LineageOS.
I hope that this was the answers you were looking for.
Good Luck!

First of all, thanks you for answer.
According to you, it behaves as I thought,
But nevertheless my friend has installed this week Lineage OS with "Stock" gapps version witch exactly what I want to install on the same device (Xiaomi mi5),
Still, I don't see any other "Gallery" or "Calender" apps besides the "Google calendar" and "Google pictures".
Why?

I'm not sure how to help you much further for this really odd issue.
You should be able to get better assistance by posting your issue on the following Official LineageOS thread for your device.

Try to be patient and specific with your post.

I prefer google calendar, clock, contacts and so on. Now I have two instances. It is not a deal breaker but I was wondering if I can uninstall (not disable).
Preferably without root.

That is not always true. If you install Open GApps, it will by default remove stock apps where they are replaced by google versions. So for example, you won't see the stock web browser because it normally gets replaced by google chrome. This is usually what you want because it saves storage and avoids icon bloat.
See: https://github.com/opengapps/openga...-and-Options#prevent-automatic-stock-removals
With Open GApps, if you want to keep some stock apps, or control which google apps get installed you can control the installer by preparing a gapps-config.txt file, and putting it alongside the GApps zip file. See the top of the Advanced Features and Options page that I linked to from above, though note that some combinations of apps are a bad idea. For example the google phone app will crash and cause the phone to reboot every time you get an incoming call if it is not the default call handler.
Aroma is what you are looking for
He probably used the Aroma variant of the Open GApps to install apps in a much more custom way.
Hi everyone,
I just saw that it was better to use MindTheGapps rather than Open Gapps for LineageOS, since the A/B function was added.
I just completely reinstalled LineageOS 15.1 on my smartphone this weekend and I obviously put the Open Gapps, as I didn't know about the advantages of MindTheGapps.
Is it possible, in your opinion, to flash the MindTheGapps at this stage? Will it work? Are there any risks and if so, which ones?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Unfortunately the OpenGApps installation cannot be removed/changed.
The only option is to perform a clean installation of the whole thing.
This is because GApps Packages are also installed in various locations on your system itself.
Believe me when I state this because I was in a similar situation not too long ago and had to begin from the start using the GApps package of choice.
Good Luck!
