GAPPS: Superslim Gapps for JB 4.2.2
Every time I do a ClockworkMod-Backup ( I think its Nandroid?!) and reboot the GAPPS Initialize-Dialog shows up.
Why? And more important: How can I stop it?
Must be some problem with the GAPPS...That should'nt happen in general
My advise would be to reflash the rom with another set of GAPPS(there are tons of versions for our device, pick one )

Too many choices
Yeah. I've got no time and a sami-broken phone... I going to flash another rom next week.
Another guy told me to use the goo-manager app to download the correct GAPPS package. I think thats a great and simple solution, but sadly there is only the "big" version and no slim-package.
Anyway: Thanks for your advice.
Because of all the slowdowns in kitkat, I decided to give ICS another try.
Specs:
-Based on CyanogenMod 9
-With Mackay kernel (updated to 3.0.101, updated governors & schedulers, XL RAM some other nice stuff):
https://github.com/kasperhettinga/samsung-kernel-aries/commits/mackay-cm9-2014
-TWRP 2.2.2.0
-no 720p possible, XLMem (do not ask for other flavours, I just make a one-flavour option tuned for smoothness)
Download:
https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/kasperhettinga/sgs/rom/pre-KK//
Gapps:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
This are the latest official gapps. Newer gapps can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.om/showpost.php?p=50748003&postcount=135
(I haven't tested this package, I also don't think latest gapps is relevant, as gapps get updated through Play Store anyway)
Install:
-From existing CM9: install on top + flash gapps
-From any jellybean ROM: you can try to install it on top, but it may result in bootloops, requiring flashing GB through Odin (see below for next steps). Flash ROM. Flash gapps.
-From stock Samsung GB: install CF-ROOT-CWM kernel, or any other CWM containing kernel. Flash ROM. Flash gapps.
You need to flash gapps on every new build, backup/restore of gapps does not work yet!
If you have space issues, you can use a solution to bind /datadata to /data partition:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50653795&postcount=55
THIS IS NOT AN ADVICE TO DO THIS! I do not like this solution, as it will slow down your phone (especially with the slow internal memory chip). And it goes against my lean & mean philosophy for this ROM. Therefore: please think well before doing this!

Are there any cherrypicks from CM10/11 or other aosp based builds to this interesting project?
woah .! ?
Few bugs:
1. About Phone - CM Upader = FC Settings
2. Preformence = No schedular option
Runs smooth and excellent.
great works great perfomance

Wow, that was totally unexpected! Thank you very much! @kasper_h I was wondering: does your rom use the older partition layout, that was introduced in ics, which caused datadata to be full, or the jb one? It would be awesome if you switched to the newer partition layout *.*

You remember it wrong
ICS always had a small system & small datadata partition, both on the fast Onenand. This was actually the fastest layout I ever worked with. The changes in layout all happened in jellybean. And I will not start using jellybean partition layouts: I strive for speed and simplicity, which fits perfectly with the ICS layout.

@kasper_h I have 3 questions:
1. No 720p support at all or only 720p recording is disabled but 720p playback still works?
2. If there's no Performance->Scheduler option in ICS, can schedulers be selected using other ways?
3. zRAM , KSM are still there ? (sorry I am used to your KK kernel)
Ty!

1. 720 playback should work, but I didn't check and I don't have my phone here now
2. Yes, any cpu tuning app like nstools can be used
3. zRAM is on the to-do list, KSM should already work

Alright then I have a problem though: I can't donwload any apps from the Play Store, also, it won't update itself. The error I get when I try to download something is 403
WOOOHOO!
My dreams came true, it actually happened!
You know, I was testing out CM9 a few times and I noticed huge improvements in smoothness and stuff like that, but the most impressive thing that I realised was that the chrome browser was not lagging at all! I think this means something!
I just have a few questions:
Is it possible to port CMA here? (it's not really necessary, I'm just wondering)
Aaand what about all those super cool features from Omni ROMs? Is there any way to port those? (again it's not necessary at all, I'm just asking)
Anyway I hope the development of this ROM will continue. Going to install this right away! :good: :good:
If you'll continue working on this ROM and we'll continue using it, we can make together the fastest and the best ROM ever made for our SGS, I believe!
The guys. Collect this ROM for Vibrant. Please!
Wow, our aging i9000 gets an encore ICS build!
What a joy! I will try!
I have a question regarding my old official CM9 nandroid backup done with Semaphore 1.3.0: is it worth trying to advanced restore only its data with Sema 1.3.0 to this ROM, and then flash this ROM over it to retain Mackay kernel back and my beloved TWRP with it?

Google Play Store is not updating itself aswell. Got the same problem with 403 . Coming from Android 4.4.2, I've flashed an Android 4.3.1 kernel, reboot to recovery, flashed CM9 twice, full wipe with system format, flashed Mackay CM9 and ICS gapps. Full wiped and system format, flashed the ROM again with gapps and the 403 error was still there. Then I've tried to go back to CM11 and the 403 error persisted.
Went back to stock GB and rooted it using Odin3 and then flashed Mackay CM9 and ICS gapps, now 403 is not showing up but another error appeared (921) and I've tried to clear data for Download Manager, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework, removed my Google Account and rebooted. Then I've re-added the Google Account and now the 403 error reappeared.
@kasper_h got any ideas ?

-CMA is not worth it, would hardly give more free RAM.
-Due to major overhauls in Android between ICS->JB->KitKat it will be nearly impossible to port anything back. Also, my motto for this ROM is lean & mean.

My play store is working and was updated automatically. I could manually install apps, and some gapps (TTS, Search) were updated fine as well. Maybe try deleting Play Store data, as that seems like the best way in any Android revision to solve Play Store issues.

Make a recovery backup & then you *can* get back by getting to factory reset page in TWRP.
So it all counts on how much you know what to do...
Problem installing PA stock gapps with CM12 nightlies on TWRP
I'm also having issues installing the pa full stock gapp on TWRP with the latest CM12 nightlies, saying I have insufficient space. It's really been bugging me as I like my devices as close to stock as possible. I'm by no means an expert but believe I have found the issue; the system partition size after installing CM12 has about 400mb remaining which is not enough for the pa stock gapps zip to install. I've also tried the modular gapps which didn't work either but found the mini package to work fine. This was never a problem when using CM11 as the remaining system partition size was much higher. You could probably change the partition size manually but I'm too much of a noob to attempt it haha. Do you think it will be addressed in CM12 official nightlies the near future?
Help to fallback to CM11
Hello all,
I have tried the CM12 nightly and I don't like it much (no quick settings toggle, sound mode/vibrate missing, excess animation effects), and it is not stable yet (kindle app keep self-crashing). Therefore I want to fallback into CM11, but the download links at download.cyanogenmod.org are all dead. Anyone still have a good latest nighties of CM11 v500 rom for share? Thanks.

To the guy that said "Me, google play services crash on every boot, and after that in use. So I went back to last CM 12" after installing the latest CM12.1 update...
You need to separately update your third party add-on zips i.e. your gapps. This is stated in the latest Cyanogenmod blog "Microsoft and CM12.1 Nightlies".

Gapps notworking
Hey Guys,
thanks for the great work. Keep it up! I've installed it and it's working like a charm.
However, I cannot get gapps working. I flashed the gapps from your link, but there is no play store or any possibility to sign up with my google account.
I've also tried flashing gapps-510-base-20150422-2-signed from androidhost. Same negative results.
Any suggestions?

No Gapps
After looking further into the iddue of no gapps showing I found an article stating that it might be a twrp related problem. However, flashing CWM and installing the rom and gapps anew also brought no results.
Yet, the application manager shows that gapps are installed. They just aren't showing.
Maybe one needs to force start playstore etc via terminal??

Google Play Services missing?
Works great, but Google Play Services seems to be missing so you can't really do anything with it yet (no Play Store or anything). When can we expect a build with gapps services?
Awfully slow with gapps
While the Rom works fine and smooth on its own, it becomes unbearably slow after installing gapps. In fact, I couldn't even finish the cm start assistant because the phone was too slow.
Anyone experiencing the same? found a solution?

Sorry, but the phone is just very slow and was never designed to run lollipop, overclock your cpu to 1600mHz and it will be better.
Performance will get better in the next builds, especially when the low_ram prop is usable.
Sorry, I may be missing something, but I have flashed GApps as soon as I have flashed the ROM. There are apps like GMail, Play Music, Play Games and others but no Google Play or Google Play services. The Google account setup wizard didn't appear on first launch either.
I have tried re-flashing for a couple of times now, sorry if I'm wasting your time if I'm missing something obvious here.
Hello all

Gapps - if you get "Unfortunaly, Setup Wizard has stopped" on first cm load. This is common problem.
Try find older version: 22 March or early (my link). Or you can delete Start Setup app: go back to twrp - Mount -> system, then Advanced -> File Manager -> system\priv-app\SetupWizard - select current folder and delete. Then reboot in system.

The p900 will be available till end of the weekend, may be the next week also.
My plan simple - push another developers to continue work with cm13. In this limited time I want:
- make stable cm13 - building right now, hope today evening will be the first results
- clean-up my device/kernel/vendor (almost done)
- try fix camera - look like this is big issue for all exynos cm13 devices, but need at least try fix
And then I really hope thompatry will continue work with cm13.
And hope my sources will help make cm for related note pro 12.1 p901 and tab pro t900/t520. At least t900/t520 use the same kernel and very similar hardware.
Buggy Setup Wizard
How can I skip the buggy Wizard? It keeps popping up error messages.
My tablet was always diferent. I wasnt able to update to official lollipop (stuck on boot animation or every proces crashed) Cm12 is laging. And now, the android 6.0.1 is stack at boot screan animation. I also bricked it with official lollipop (from cm11 to official lollipop) and unbricked it with official kitkat. I really dont understand it. I need to do more with my little android development skills (i have successfully ported cm11 to friends phone, but only thanks it have little difrences from the official cm11 for the supported device) i dont know if u understand it but it doesnt matter
No way!! I wasn't expecting this.
I don't like posting this kind of useless message but I had to write a big THANK YOU. The thank you button doesn't cover how grateful I am for bringing a 6.0 ROM to our big guy.
Does the s-pen work? I can't flash it right now.

I had the same problem. Couldn't get past it. So I did a new clean install and this time without Gapps. The rom runs fantastic. Went to apk mirror and downloaded the latest GMS and installed it. Then I went to settings to add my G account. And couldn't go thru with it cause GMS keeps crashing. Don't know why. Gonna uninstall it now and install an older GMS

Edit: Tried an older variant of GMS and no success. Well just have to wait. Meantime its awesome running MM on what I thought was a dead device.
Thank you for this Valeria. Really appreciate you doing this. I've encountered most of the problems previously mentioned. Installed with Gapps. No joy. Did another install without. Running OK. One thing nobody else has mentioned is I can't see my external sdcard. Tried 3 different ones. 32, 15 and 4 GB. No luck with any. As for ROM. Nice. Fast. Smooth. Cheers
Cm 13.0 build is ready. Please see first post how to solve gapps problem. Tomorrow I'll check what is wrong with gapps. And then I'll start fix small problems. Still a lot of work, but now with working cm.
Wanted to first say I'm extremely grateful for your work; I've been keeping an eye on the CM threads here for weeks because this upgrade could make the P900 work like a new tablet.
I rely on it daily for college, so I'm kind of hesitant to flash just yet. But for those of you who try this ROM, I'd be very interested to know:
1) S-Pen -- For a separate S-Pen (the one with a separate eraser in addition side button), do the extra buttons work natively in LectureNotes or similar apps or does something else (e..g, "CM S Pen Add-on") need to be installed?
2) Encryption -- Does encryption/decryption work with TWRP 3.0.0.0 (or an earlier version)? Haven't had much luck getting TWRP to decrypt 5.0.2 stock, but as long as the OS can decrypt -- and I've been able to make backups -- I haven't worried about it.
3) Multi-Window -- In CM13, how adjustable are the windows? Can you achieve a setup where 2/3 of the screen is for one app while another app gets 1/3?
4) Camera -- Is it just the stock camera app that's having trouble? Would another app (e.g., Open Camera) work?
5) Microphone -- Is the mic working okay (e.g., for an app like LectureRecordings)?
6) Screenshots -- Is there a good solution for editing screenshots? Something that supports S-Pen? Being able to quickly crop and import things into LectureNotes is very useful. Noticed a new app called "Screen'it" in the store that might eventually be a good stock replacement, but I'd like to know if anybody's got a better solution.
Thanks so much for this! Just installed CM 13.0 build. Tried stock gapps 6.0 it failed. BUT....
Here is one *provisional* solution (you'll do better I'm sure) for the gapps setup wizard problem.
*Install the March 22 pico version.*
Of course, factory wipe.
Then follow the old school method and do both of these in ONE twrp session:
Flash CM 13.0 Marshmallow
Flash gapps 3/22 Pico
Wipe dalvik
Reboot
And you should be good to go!
This came up with another (older) tablet of mine, the Asus TF700t, which also returned the error when I first loaded a custom MM 6.01 version. That developer (Timduru) suggested using the March 22 Pico version of the gapps and it worked there.... and as I speak is now working on my Samsung Note Pro 12.2. I've not done anythng much with it yet, but will get back to you with anything I find.
Hope this is useful.
Blessings.
Okay... No Bluetooth. [Oops, correcton, Blue tooth *does* work.] No external sdcard. But very fast. Thanks and looking forward to usable version.

Thank you.
Yes, you are right, something wrong with the latest gapps. On p905 with latest gapps we are geting the same start wizard problem.
I finished the firmware late at night and had no time to check the different gapps.
Today will be full test and cleanup.
Remove sertupwizard from /system/priv-app to skip wizard. You can do it with twrp file manager
There is rallye no bit different betwene android 5.1.1 (cm12.1) and android 6.0.1 (cm13). The only one i really like is multi window. But still awesome work Valera.

You're absolutely right. Installed open Gapps 0322 Pico and no problems with GMS. Restoring all my apps now. Tried with Pico Gapps 0330 first but no luck. Thanks for your tip ?
