Hello, I recently purchased a z1c off Swappa, and a recent imei check came back with the phone being financed. Swappa doesn't allow the sale of phones with bad imeis so I'm sure it was clean when it was sold to me. I also sold my nexus 4 that I bought from Google, and the buyer informed me that the imei has the same issue. I called T-mobile's customer service and they told me that the imei was clean. Is there something wrong with T-mobile's network where they accidentally flag phones as financed? Both the phones were definitely purchased unlocked, as the z1c is only available stateside via Sony, and there is no way that the nexus 4 I sold could be financed since I bought it straight from Google. Any thoughts?

Actually, i have got a dash from ebay. Everything works, except it can not detect the t-mobile phone network so I'm getting no dial tone.
Would T-mobile have locked the phone so it can't connect to the T-mo phone network? Should i call customer service and say i am a victim of a crime...
I assume you're talking about T-Mobile USA.
If that is the case, then I can safely tell you that they do not employ any blacklisting techniques. The farthest they can go is look up a phone's IMEI and see what accounts on T-Mobile have used it.
Have you contacted T-Mobile about establishing a service plan? The phone and service are separate items, one does not come with the other unless it is part of a promotion from the service provider. T-mobile offers the htc S260 (aka "T-mobile DASH") at a discounted price to get new customers to subscribe to their wireless phone service. You may have purchased a phone with the T-mobile brand, but unless the prior owner transferred his service contract to you along with the phone (I do not think such a transfer is recognized by T-mobile or any phone provider), then it's up to you to establish a new service contract with T-mobile.
Sorry did'nt mention I'm a current customer of T-Mobile USA
Yes I have been with T-mobile for over a year now. Got this phone from ebay, plug my sim in, didn't have phone signal, it just keeps searching.
So I wonder if it was T-mobile that locked the phone. Thanks Merwin for letting me know that they can not ban a phone by it's IMEI..
In this case I just don't konw what's wrong with it anymore, flushed it with T-Mo official WM6 upgrade... no signals.. sigh...
Thanks anyway guys.
There's always the chance that the radio in the phone is bad. Since the phone isn't a year old, you could call them and tell them that you bought a dash from them and it won't register on the network, and you want to do a handset exchange.
They will transfer you to the data devices tech support, who will run you through a few tests, and then do a handset exchange. Since it's a T-Mobile only phone and it's been out less than a year, it's guaranteed to be under warranty. Try not to tell them that you got it from EBay Tell them you bought it from an indirect dealer (mall kiosk) somewhere.
Just curious, what's your radio version?
So my friend has a dilemma here. He bought a Galaxy S3 off craigslist a while back. Now one month later his phone was locked by AT&T because it was reported stolen by the person he bought it from. Is there anything he can possibly do? He has already called AT&T and they refuse to unlock the phone, he can't use it whatsoever on his AT&T service.
Unless I'm wrong, he's pretty much screwed.
Whenever a purchase on craigslist is made you must always insist on the person giving a receipt signed by both of you. Your friend seems to be Sol.

Is there more to the story you're not telling? What is there incentive for doing this?

I wasn't aware ATT blocked IMEI like VZW/Sprint block ESNs. That's unfortunate about your friend's phone.
Sell it to someone internationally if you can unlock it.

A family member of mine in the caribbean, Trinidad to be specific purchased a factory unlocked TMO version Samsung Galaxy S3 from someone and now they seem to be having trouble with making and receiving calls on their network (Bmobile is the network there). I told my cousin that he may have purchased a stolen phone and the IMEI may have been blacklisted but I didnt think that was possible internationally? Could there be another reason like the network is not compatible; Bmobile is in the process of setting up HSPA+. The phone is also rooted. Could that be a problem also? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Also he has been receiving a software update from TMO, the 94mb one. Could updating the software make it work?
I'm currently planning on purchasing a Verizon M8 later today used from Craigslist. I've bought and sold using Craigslist numerous times in the past (mostly electronics), but I've never purchased a phone. I asked for a screenshot of the page including the IMEI (which also corroborated the guy's phone number) and it came back clean using the swappa tool. My question to you guys: is there anything kn particular I should be checking for in person, particularly with this phone model?
I bought a lg g3 d851 on ebay and it suppose to have a clean imei...when i run it throught swappa it says not blacklisted....but financed...my question is would it still work on at&t network or be able to warrenty returned to lg?
I would be reluctant to chance it.
What is the owner stops making payments on the phone to TMo? Could TMo not blacklist it eventually as unpaid/unreturned or "stolen" equipment?
CAN YOU FIX BLACKLISTED IMEI? I was looking for in so on blacklisted devices and how to use on different networks
is the imei marked as blocked or lost/stolen
I have this same exact question. I have one but it was blacklisted due to non-payment. T Mobile isn't working with me with paying it off. Its unlocked and working on att now but my account was canceled last week. I'm so worried that I'm going to get 2 months down the road and its going to stop working. Does anyone have experience or know if this will happen?
I have one also i bought it for $500 and the phone was put on hold because previous owner did not pay it.

Have u tried it on att
From what I understand, if a phone's imei is blacklisted on a US carrier, it will not work on any of the other US carriers.

same issue but with T-mobile I need some help if any of you have the solution.
Almost 2 years ago if your phone blacklisted on T-Mobile it will work on AT&T and other carriers, now they have something like network agreement or shared database, so if th ephone get blacklisted on T-Mobile it will go bad on all within few weeks/days/months.
Now the other thing which is fixing/repairing imei on ebay it's kinda crazy because they use public certificates, which means the same imei shared/used on 100 + phone so when it get stolen/blacklisted you need to buy the service again.
the imei repair starts at $25.00 up to $99.00 depends on model and who doing and they willing to use private cert of public one.
you can use imeidata.net to check your imei blacklisted on which company and clear on which one, because swappa and other sites doesn't give you details about it.
at last there is other solutions without going through all the above and they cost less than repairing your imei such us unbarred & imei cleaning
otherwise if you still wanna repair it or check i could help with providing cheap solutions.
hello guys if you have tmobile samsung galaxy s6 edge or galaxy s6 and phone imei is blocked i will buy and give you top dollars cash today hit me up please
