[Q] No SIM Card on Stock ROM - Sprint LG G2

So I was trying to figure out why my Knock-On stopped working and flashed with a .tot to ZV8. After it finished, the phone could no longer read my Sim card and I get no LTE.
Since that time I've tried:
1) Hard Reset
2) .tot to ZVC
3) Upgrade to ZVD
4) Lots and lots of reboots
5) Remove and clean SIM card and slot
At this point I'm sitting unrooted at ZVD in preparation to bring the phone in, and knock on works again (little victories) but it still can't read my SIM card and therefore doesn't get LTE. Any other suggestions before I take it in for service? (I have BB insurance)

Other things worth mentioning...
1) I'd previously been running SuperG2
2) I've removed the carrier=SPR from build.prop which only gets me 3G still, I reverted that change back to SPR
3) I'm certain there is no LTE outage in my area

Gpad 8.3 update to 4.4 2 no longer able to read sim card from tmobile.

Updated to 4.4.2 today via ota. Was originally a Verizon 8.3 lte, switched to t-mobile. Was able to toss a sim card in and update apn ran fine. But after ota update today it no longer reads tmobile sim card. Have updated apns, continuing to get notifications that tablet activation incomplete, your tablet will try again when you restart. Have restarted plenty of times, on boot get welcome to Verizon red startup screen. Then goes to straight to screen unlock. Anyone with a idea of how to fix this. Tablet is rooted.

same here... I skipped the initial setup steps. Device shows no network connection to t-mobile. When I go to Settings-> About Tablet-> Network, com.android.phone crashes
To go back to 4.2.2:
Root, Flash aboot.img and TWRP.img
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54533937&postcount=2
Then reflash 4.2.2 TWRP backup (dunno if you can do direct flash without factory reset... try?)

most likely you'll lose your files/apps/settings... unfortunate

http://code.ngvincent.com/android/modem.4.2.2.img
needs root
Code:
adb shell
su
#backup current modem
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem of=/sdcard/modem.backup.img
#restore modem from 4.2.2
dd if=/sdcard/modem.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem
doesnt work for me even if i flash the modem. do you get the activation notification when you reboot your device paper?
Doesn't work
Same. Anyone have a fix?
I fixed mine. I had to reactivate it with a Verizon sim card. Go through the whole process. then i was able to pop in a tmobile and add the APN settings for Tmobile.

Did you use an active Verizon sim ?
We are getting a new Verizon G pad. Do we need to insert a Verizon sim, upgrade to kitkat and then insert T-mobile sim?
Thanks for your help

also its rooted with TWRP and CM12.1 installed but i have no cell service the options in settings are grayed out i cant enter and settings manually. and the Network app wont work to change anything
want to set it up to runn off AT&T the best i can
Did you give terminal Superuser permissions with "su"?
yes super user was granted
I don't know what's wrong then.
You could take my ROM zip from my signature, delete all the partition IMG files out of it, put the modem.img you want in, and edit the updater-script to remove anything having to do with flashing the other partitions, then flash the resulting zip in TWRP. Make sure you know how to recover and have everything saved that you want to keep from internal storage in case you do something wrong, though.

You know, I haven't been able to get mobile data working on any CM-based ROM on the VK810 yet, so that's probably your trouble. If you want mobile data you'll have to go stock. Some people had some luck on CM-based ROMs but then eventually it stopped working. I didn't have any luck at all.
Thank you for the info, I think I'll just wait for a possible workaround, until then I'll just use internet share from my phone.... That and I haven't the foggiest idea hownto do what you told me to do with the updater and what not lol , so rather than really screw things up, I'll just stick with WiFi..

[Q] Connection Issue with Mobile Data - Modem Problem

I've run into a bit of a pickle with my root attempt on one of my LG G3s. The first went without a hitch while the 2nd didn't go so well. In order to flash CM12, I followed the LG G3 stock flash guide from hyleton to downgrade from Lollipop to 4.4.2. I then flashed CM12 with TWRP and hit a snag where the mobile data connection would try to establish, and the phone would black screen requiring me to pull the battery. The only way to get passed the CM12 setup would be to boot without the TMO SIM card.
Because I considered this a failed port, I flashed back to stock 4.4.2 but can't connect to the TMO mobile data network, but I am successfully able to get passed initial setup with the SIM Card in. IMEI and mobile number are still registered to the device, so at this point I'm assuming the issue is with a bad modem flash that occurred when I went back to stock 4.4.2. When I check the baseband version, the number/letter combo is quite large and doesn't seem to match with your typical Baseband versions, hence why I think I have a corrupt modem.
I can't find any modem software packages out there for the US TMO LG G3 variant, so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction or otherwise help provide some guidance on how to get my data connection back.
Hey,
I've got the exact same problem. Did you manage to repair it?
Thanks.
C.
You could try asking for a modem package for your variant here on the forums, otherwise you could try a custom ROM and wiping everything even the modem before flashing, most ROMs come with a modem built in.

Sim card(1) "Sim card not detected"

hi
I have a very annoying problem whit the sim slot 1 (i currently test the slot 2)
Very often, the phone tell me "Sim card not detected", and i have to open the phone, dismount the card and put in again.. until the next time.. like i said, it's occurs very often, 10-15 a day..
Even when the phone is on the table without touching it..
I have rooting it and thats it.. 2.19.40.22
I would like to know if someone have similar problems before i try to reflash whit older stock rom??!
It happened to me briefly- After flashing my first full back -up back to the fone --then i did a factory reset and this fixed the sim slot problem

Hi, I think i have the same problem after testing the Cyanogen build for ZE551ML. Have you did a factory reset from recovery (wipe data, cache and dalvik) or a full stock rom flash ?
Thanks
Above, I was referring to the full 5gb asus ROM back up I made immediately after unlocking bootloader installing twrp and rooting, I installed svn ROM and backed that up too..stripped svn ROM further..backed that up too. Then went about trying my Asus full original...sim 2 was only detected..so did a factory reset and sim came back.
To get sim recognised in CM,I had to wipe usual..install..set up...and factory reset it...hope that clears it up a bit lol

Oh,try a reboot after factory reset..I forgot to put in description above
Guys can you check your sim holder lock . I mean when you put the sim in holder check if it is properly fitted. Issue is some SIM cards are thinner than normal and sim holder unable to grip it. I faced same issue.
Also recommend using ASUS ZenUI app called ASUS Support. There are several helpful tips with basic troubleshooting techniques for your device including including SIM card troubleshooting. Please go to Apps/ASUS Support/Assistance/SIM Card/Sim card not detected

Sim Card not detected
Hey guys,
I am having a similar issue. I have 2 Sims, AT&T and GCI (local carrier). AT&T Sim works in both Slot 1 & 2, and GCI Sim works in slot 2 only. The AT&T sim is a standard MicroSim and the GCI sim is a Tri-Cut sim, so basically a NanoSim in a Micro Adapter.
Sometimes when the GCI Sim is in slot 1, it will recognize for a couple seconds then go gray..

I to am having the same issue. By chance did you solve the issue? I love my Zenfone 2, but am frustrated by not being able to use 3G. I've tried a few differant methods to fix it. No luck yet.
Please if you have a fix let me know. reply here, or email me at bupbup777 at gmail.
I really hope someone knows a fix.

I subscribe to the "theory" that some SIM cards are thinner than others and they drop out of slot 1.
In fact, I have 3 SIM cards and they range in thickness by around 0.5mm according to my cheap chinese mircometer. I don't believe that it is coincidence that the thinner ones lose SIM detection more than the thicker ones.
Also it is no coincidence that slot 2 doesn't lose detection becuase the SIMs don't slide upwards out of slot 2, but they do slide downwards out of slot 1.
Do this experiment: Put a SIM in each slot, now place a 3rd SIM in the space between the two. You will notice that it sits easily in the gap between the two installed SIMs with a bit of free play. Put the back cover back on and use the phone normally for a while (a day or two). Now take off the phone back and tip the phone over, does the "third" SIM fall on the floor, or has it been gripped by the SIM in slot 1 as it has gradually slid out of its slot?
Since I put one layer of sellotape on the back of all my SIMs, I have not had one single "SIM not installed" message. I used to get them all the time, especially with one of the thinner SIMs in slot 1 and above all when using the phone in the car (the fully vertical position and the vibrations seemed to have accelerated the SIM slipping out of its slot).
By the way, I never had the SIM slide completely out, but they certainly are not gripped sufficiently in place and slip enough to disconnect.
I had same "sim card 1 not detected" issue.
It worked back when i did soft reboot,.
And no more issue after factory reset
Re @ leftrand earlier on page 1.....
Sorry not been here in a while , but I think this was related to an earlier twrp we used , fixed with the later one I think. So it was a matter of restoring full original bk up,then factory reset then set up again and do another bk up. Keeping original bk up just in case . That was a while back now and should be fixed
facing same problem... only after updating ota. always.. sim 1 is not detected...

That no way to have a sim 1 working thru TWRP back up after flashing the CM13. What I did was doing a clean flash with SuperZen - 2.20.40.156 Full.
The problem was solve. then I flash back my back up TWRP. The phone now work like a charm.

I got it fixed bro! the phone does not like the Nano sim cards in the adapter. I happend to find an old GCI micro sim and had them activate it. works great now.
ok i found a solution. i read a earlier reply saying you cannot assess sim 1 whilst using a recovery back up flashed. i was currently using cm13 nightlys and this morning i flashed paranoid 5.1 or so.... i wanted to go back and compare the two but what i did was restore it from a backup.... so what you should do is when wanting to change roms, KEEP THE ZIP FILES THAT YOU USE TO FLASH THE ROMS WITH!!!!!!!!!!!! im still asking you to back up roms (preferably system before you flash) just so you dont hard brick it.
bottom line is back up rom, but keep zip files for when you want to change between roms. hope i can help
I have this problem, compounded by the fact that it seems all Android 6.0 (or possibly all CM based ROMs for the ZenFone?) have an issue where losing cell signal in a dead zone permanently breaks the radio until the device is rebooted. Even if the SIM is recognized, after going through a no signal area, the signal never gets acquired again and the SIM information lines remain blank or unknown. Trying to refresh the networks or providers list throws an error toast.

Network Lock Re-enabled??

I have disabled the network lock way back using the *#197328640# Perso SHA256 OFF method and it has been fine for few years when I used different SIM cards while travelling. However, last week, while I was using a third party SIM card, been on it for a few days without problems (also using the same company SIM card in the past). When I try to browse Google Maps, I lost data connection and the phone rebooted.
Upon startup and entered the SIM PIN, it ask me for NETWORK LOCK PIN. And because I have upgraded to RR Rom (Android 6.x), I can't use the same method to disable the network lock.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I am thinking to reimage my phone back to 4.4.x, but I have read it is dangerous and very high chance or bricking it?
The part I don't understand is how or why downgrade will brick it? If I wipe my phone, do a fresh install of image (or even restore from old TWRP images) including the old RADIO ROM, that should be fine, right?
Furthermore, where is the network lock (NVRAM) data kept? EFS?
Flashing back to the latest stock rom via Odin isn't any riskier than flashing a custom rom from my experience with Samsung phones.

Phone keeps switching to GSM/WCDMA on its own

This is a second hand phone (originally on T-Mobile but now on MetroPCS) and is running the 30e build. Every time I switch it to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto it will switch back on its own after coming off of wifi, rebooting, going to airplane mode, etc. Also, the wifi and data signals seem to fluctuate a lot even when standing still. On a recommendation I tried to switch to the 30d modem by downloading the file and installing it via the LG SW but was not able to choose the build to install (it just re-installed the 30e build). How can I force the 30d build to install and will it help me out? This is my last ditch effort before getting a new phone. I also tried the backdoor method of locking in LTE but it still cycles back to GSM.
Does it gives any random reboots????
