Rom compatibility with kernel - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a special problem, my Arc S's micro usb isnt working anymore. I got broken, so I load the battery outside the phone.
The rom I have(carbon kitkat) isnt working well and I want to try another, the problem is that I cant change kernel, because I cant connect the phone to my computer to use flashtool.
I wounder if someone here have the knowledge wich kitkat or Jellybean roms that can be used with these setting:
CMW-based Revocry v6.0.4.7
Kernel-version
3.4.82-nAa+

Hello there. If you'll follow me over to this thread and read for a bit you'll notice there are other users with the same issues and that it is due to some change in devices manufactured after the first quarter of this year.
For a currently unknown reason these new devices are incompatible with the kernel used by CM builds and thus recovery images. CM7 and CM9 kernels fail to properly handle the displays in these devices. ROMs based on stock kernels for gingerbread appear to lack the flaw an will initialise the display correctly.
If you could grab some logs from your broken CM7 install and post them it would REALLY help track down the issue and give the developers something tangible to fix. Ciao!

Nexus 7 (2013 wifi-flo) 4.4.2 + MultiROM v23 = No WiFi

Hi Guys,
First off, I have looked around for a solution before posting... I just can't find anyone with a similar problem as mine.
As I stated in the title>
Nexus 7 2013 wifi 16gb flo
Kitkat 4.4.2
I was and still plan to install Ubuntu touch - looks great! However, I didn't want to loose my KitKat, I need it for work. So I researched and found MultiROM which is just what I needed.
I followed this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...tmctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=34826402
And installed this app:
http://click.xda-developers.com/api...iROM v23 - xda-developers&txt=Install the app
I opened up the app, and it prompted me to install a modded kernel, so I did. I now have kernel version:
3.4.0-g20f5923

Problem is I can no longer turn on my wifi, everything else seems just fine.
Any tips?
Apologies if there is a post to address this and I couldn't find it...
Thanks...
Jared.
kernel
Looking around some more, I am convinced that it has to be the modded kernel causing my wifi issue.
Can anyone suggest a modded kernel that will work with MultiROM v23 and fix my wifi issue?
I tried flashing Francos Kernel last night, but it failed to install...
Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated...
Thanks...
You've installed kernel for 4.3 into 4.4.2 system. Latest update to the MultiROM Manager app (v1.106) should choose the correct version by default, it should be "Stock 4.4.1 and 4.4.2".
correct kernel

Thanks Tassadar for taking the time to get back to me, thing is I just let the app decide which kernel... I will try use odin to flash the correct kernel as TWRP will not allow me to flash it.
I'll let you know how it pans out...
Thanks again....
All good again!

[Q] Need advice: i9195 LTE with KNOX+should I upgrade to KitKat? low volume

Hi,
I've been reading allot but I got lost a bit.
I have an i9195 LTE bought in Germany (but not used in Germany), and the biggest problem I have is the low volume of the device. I can barely hear the ring.
I decided to wait for the KitKat update to see if triggering KNOX will cause problems.
I tried the safe root which did not work for me.
Should I update to KitKat and then root? Will the update itself improve the volume issues?
Do you recommend updating to KitKat or will it bring more problems?
Important: I "unlocked" the device in Germany with a local sim, the update should not reverse this, right?
I am also missing the option to choose LTE network, how can I fix this?
Many Thanks !
Details of my device:
Model number: GT-i9195
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I9195XXUBML4
Kernel version: 3.4.0-2340422
[email protected] #1
Sat Dec 21 01:33:54 KST 2013
Build number: JDQ39.I9195XXUBML4
SE for Android status:
Enforcing SEPF_GT-I9195_4.2.2_0022
Secure boot status: Samsung
anyone please?
Waiting for an answer too, volume is quite low yeah but I've read KitKat users have many bugs and it is better to stick to 4.2.2 for a lil bit..
NO!!! .. you have ml4 i think it doesnt have knox !! .. wait as the kitkat wont help you .. just wait for a stock no-knox rom and flash my volume boosting mod
It does have knox, and from what I read it doesn't have saferoot available.
It's hard to follow all the threads regarding the rooting options and possible issues I will encounter, so I hope someone could recommend me what to do..
* The main issue that bothers me is the volume, which I need root to fix.
* If I root will it be problematic to upgrade to KitKat?
* Is KitKat better or should I stick with 4.2 ?
Thanks !!

[Q] Having problems installing "USB ROM" for automotive install

Hello
I am having a seriously difficult time trying to get this tablet to work in a car. I have timurs kernel on a laptop and I also have usbrom-grouper. I am not sure what to do from here or how to test that the work I have done so far. What I have done so far...
#1, I have rooted the tablet
#2 I have TWRP installed, (the one that has touch interface)
#3 I am running 4.2.2
#4 build #JDQ39
#5 Kernel Version, 3.1.10-GBA06546 - Dirty
[email protected] hexa #24
I seem to have the correct software but there is ZERO tech support for this Kernel/ROM. I am very desperate to find someone who can help me with the last few steps of install. I don't know what I have done so far and I don't know what to do next.
My goal is to charge while having a USB thumbdrive attached, and also to shut off with the ignition power.
PLEASE SOMEONE HEEELP

Which Nexus 7 do you have? grouper is the 1st gen (2012) Nexus 7. This forum section is for the Nexus 7 (2013)
Hello,
Sorry I have the first one, I thought 2013 WAS the first one. How can I move this thread? Maybe this is why I am not able to get any help fixing this problem.
Jason
Sorry again, I have reposted this at >>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/help/problems-installing-usbrom-timurs-k-t2948681

[Q][Help] ROM recommendation (BEST FIT)

Hello guys,
A few days ago I've found my old M8 in a drawer. I thought that I might revive him with a new custom ROM that will fit my needs.
I'm planning to use this phone only in the car. I still have to decide if I will use it with a SIM card or I will set up a Hot Spot from my main phone.
The ROM that will best fit my needs:
GPS Navigation - Waze/Google Maps
Music - Youtube/Spotify
I don't need phone calls, sms, whatsapp, camera or anything else.
My phone runs on:
Android Version: 6.0
Htc Sense Version: 7.0
Kernel Version: [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
PS: I also need a tutorial/how to set up the new ROM.
Best regards!
