You can try this stock recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5178
I could do the 1st update after flashing this stock recovery which was about 59 mb ,but with the 2nd update (about 160 mb) I couldn't
I tried everything back to stock and re-lock with no luck always stuck at red triangle then restart
I think it's because of the root (tampered) at Hboot.
I searched a lot but nothing can help only flashing stock ruu and there is no official one yet, so still waiting>>>
Try this and wish you luck
P.S.
You can take a stock recovery from the update ZIP itself
you will find it in the downloads folder after download and before install
copy it to your computer open it >firmware > recover.img

I also have some concerns before downloading the update...do i have to restore the stock recovery before installing the updates? by the way heres mine

I'd just wait till it gets ported to one of the roms which honestly will save you all the hassle and simply flashing it.. Shouldn't take too long
All I did was root the device, I don't have a custom rom. It should be revertable, right? I don't want to lose everything...

This info is correct. You need the stock recovery to apply official otas. You can get it from the link in the cwm sticky thread
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the info! "And use root keeper", what might that be?

Exactly what the title suggests, it keeps root for you.-
Do you mean re-lock the bootloader? Or are they talking about a separate app with the name 'root keeper'?
Edit: I guess you were refering to the app root keeper indeed. Guide for me here, appearantly: http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-...ed-htc-one-x-without-unrooting-and-keep-root/
You cannot apply OTA update on a rooted phone unless
1) You Reboot into recovery
2) Create nandroid of current ROM (ARHD)
3) Go to bootloader
4) Download boot.zip from attachments below, extract it and flash the contained boot.img inside ADB using "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (NOTE: This boot.img is for base 1.29 only! Grab your own original boot.img if you're unsure or if you're getting bootloops!)
5) Restore original ROM via either 5a or 5b
5a) Boot into recovery and restore your stock ROM you made a nandroid of before flashing a custom ROM
5b) Flash a RUU that's compatible with your CID
6) After stock ROM has been installed and booted, reboot into bootloader
7) Download stock recovery from attachments below, extract it and flash the recovery inside ADB using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
8) Boot back into stock ROM
9) Perform OTA and let it finish nicely
10) Reboot into bootloader
11) Flash custom recovery (CWM)
11a) Optional: Create a nandroid of the new stock ROM you just got through OTA
12) Flash ARHD boot.img from the OP
13) Restore nandroid of ARHD you created at step 2
14) Done!

Not sure this will work with a HOX but followed this tutorial to apply the latest OTA to my wife's Wildfire S, and it worked without any issues.

Anyone know if this works? I still haven't been able to update...I get the installer, then a red exclamation mark at about 1/3rd of the update.
You must have a completely stock 1.29 install (unrooted with stock recovery) before the OTA will procede.
You could also, on the flipside, just flash a custom ROM if you've already unlocked because your warranty is void anyways, and since you have root you can easily keep all your data by using Titanium backup.
Of course though, if you don't want to go the custom ROM route you will just have to unroot and put the stock recovery back before you run the OTA, and then root again.

I've applied an ota with root before?
There were no problems? What you need is completely stock odexed rom, stock recovery for your current version and that's it. I used to think you needed a relocked bootloader, think that might just be for ruu's.

As far as I know as long as you have stock recovery it will be fine.
Sent from my HTC One X
You need stock rom (factory state), stock kernel and stock recovery.
Root can stay, you will lose it after the update. You have to root it again after if you want
Bootloader can also stay unlocked.

i need only factory reset?
No by factory state i mean that if you have removed HTC signed apps or made changes to the system it should be returned to stock.

Lost root and cant boot into twrp after 4.4.4 OTA update

Hi, My htc m8 is bootloader unlocked from htcdev and was rooted at 4.4.3 with stock rom and S-on.Yesterday i got 4.4.4 ota update and after the update,I lost my root which was rooted by supersu. Then i tried to boot into twrp via fastboot by issuing this command:
fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-m8.img
and pc screen says download ok and reboot but phone still stays at fastboot screen and just hangs there. Then i will have to keep pressing the power button to boot it normally. and this method of booting into twrp without actually flashing was working before.Any ideas please.Thanks.
Yeah it stopped working. Flash the custom recovery. When you get the new ota you download it but install it later and extract the recovery.img from the new ota and flash that before installing the new ota.

Well depends on what you want to do. Give root access is only possible with a custom recovery......

Ok. So if i understand correctly, i will flash twrp and will reroot by flashing supersu again. right.
and what would be the benefit of extracting the recovery from ota and flashing as i have already updated to 4.4.4.I would like to get root again and want to remove the traces of twrp so that in future i can get OTA updates like now as i backedup everything by booting into twrp but without flashing it.sorry for the questions as i am kind a newbie. Thanks

Unable to update to Android 5.0.2

Dear all,
I hope anyone can help me. I am trying to update to the latest Android version which I got OTA today. I have rooted my device and I am running TWRP (version 2.8.5.0) since some time. (Rooted it to restore some apps using Titanium backup). When I try to update using the OTA my device boots into recovery. When I choose install and select the downloaded zip file my device gives me the following error:
E: Zip signature verification dailed: 1
Disabling the ZIP verification doesn't work as I will just get another error message.
I have tried sideloading the ROM using adb commands but so far this hasn't worked either.
Anyone can give me some directions as how to continue from here? I would really like to update my device to Android 5!
Update with solution (for me):
What worked for me was downloading the OTA update like I would normally do. Then connect the phone to the computer and copy the downloaded update file to the computer (should be located on internal memory/download/). Once you have the file on your computer extract it, and then extract the file 'firmware'. Inside this second file should be a recovery.img. If you flash this recovery to your phone (no need to unroot or relock your bootloader) you will then be able to install the update.
That's because you need stock recovery to flash OTA. It won't work with TWRP because the OTA ZIP works different than a custom ROM.
Go back to stock everything and it'll work.
Or wait a couple of days till the boys here come up with a lollipop rom.
Ok thanks a lot, that'll help me I'll let you guy know if I run into any more problems.
how revert back to stock rom

any solution for this, please help:silly:
sir my phone also on same condition and on 1.17.707.9
please send above file link for me I have no update notification
now we want ruu
sir please send file link
Use these two files. First restore the stock nandroid using twrp (remember to choose NO when twrp prompts you to install supersu and root rom).
After you successfully restore the backup, flash stock recovery.
That should take care of it.

in usual way of that you have to put update file in Download folder in internal memory(after that you may have to restart) and then go to setting > about > software update, checking for update and wait the way that should be.

So i just got the ota update today the lollipop for my country (Egypt) i had phone rooted with custom recovery TWRP i tried installing the update and failed.. then i flashed the stock recovery and still fails...gone to supersu and settings and unrooted it and tried again, still fails...
relocked the bootloader and STILL fails this now got me so mad because upon every install failure i had to redownload the update (it takes a long time tho) so if anyone could help me here i will be so thankful.

HTC One M8- Cannot Install OTA Updates After Rooting Phone

Why I can't install the system updates (lollipop) on my phone?
I was rooting the phone and I installed the SuperSU. After this process when I click to install the updates, the phone reboot but enter in the recovery move and I am not able to install the updates. Everytime that reboot is entering in the Team Win Recovery Project. If I try to install the zip updates from there it is not possible.
Could you help me?
Thanks in advance
You need stock recovery and stock ROM to install OTA's.

Not able to install Os 3.2.4 update(india) for rooted device.

I live in india. When I update my device via system update, 270 mb file is getting downloaded but while installing it loading TWRP recoveey mode and on rebooting os version is still in 3.2.1. My device is rooted. Is there any specific flashable zips for indian version available or please guide me if any other solution is available. Not able to find specific solution. I dont wont to loss datas for this small incremental update
you have to be unrooted and on stock recovery to flash an OTA.
you can also download signed firmwares from oneplus forums which can be flashed through twrp but i think you'll have to download the whole firmware.
What ^said, if you are rooted you can flash the whole firmware using TWRP, all you need to do is flash SuperSU afterwards.
However, i was rooted when I got the OTA for 3.2.4, it told me I was rooted and made me download the whole firmware, I flashed it in TWRP them SuperSU and I was golden.

No data loss on my end. It treated the flash like an OTA, it booted itself into recovery(TWRP), flashed and rebooted.
