FTV trying to update.. But not done so yet - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased 3 FTVs for my home net purely to run xbmc and dont have a lot of interest in amazon prime or the stock FTV setup.
2 of the 3 boxes were fine, blocked updates on my net, rooted, disabled updates, XBMC on, everything worked great. Still need to do some tweaking but all good.
1 of the 3 boxes already knew of the update, and is trying to get it, but is of course blocked. As I have never booted it, I have no way to know what FW its on now.

I have tried waiting of course.. Tried pulling the network cable after it finds the DHCP and before 'checking for updates' (actually doesnt say that it seems to already 'know').
Is there a way of resetting the knowledge of the update ??
What is my best course of action with the greatest probability of securing root ??
Is there a way of stopping an update if I let my router connect to the update links ?? As I have never done that I dont know how the process goes ??
Or is there a way of on the first boot, when it updates, enabling ADP and rooting and disabling before the next boot (I read this works but perhaps not in this situation, eg from a normal boot not a first boot).
Lastly, I am not in the US, I dont know if it will even allow me to get the updates outside of there and I cant VPN via my router.. Which would lead to a useless if not bricked FTV stuck in a loop of an update it cant get.
Sorry for the Qs.. I did search but theres a lot of variables and one mistake could lose root on this box, where possibly the right combination or sequence can preserve it.

http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-unbr...ry-mode-and-factory-reset-the-amazon-fire-tv/
Just did this.. With a reset of user data and cache.. really thought it would it would work..
Booted.. had to discover the remote.. then.. Exactly the same.. Update detected (blocked with openDNS) and in the same loop ??
Can I block update system by ADP ?? Given the recovery option of update by ADP, is that any use here ??

[Q] Is my SPH-L710 Toast?

Hi guys, I've been scouring Google for 3 days now and can't come up with an answer, everything says use Odin for this and use Odin for that... well I can't.
A few days ago I downloaded an app from the Google store Linuxonandriod or something like that, it's pretty much an installer to place Ubuntu on your phone side by side with Android, the instructions began with rooting the phone, I began that process and believe I accidently loaded the incorrect pda to the phone (I have so many files now on my comp, I have no clue which one I selected). Odin rebooted the phone and that's that.
If I try to turn on the phone it goes to the first screen that just says SAMSUNG then turns off, never getting to the Samsung Galaxy III screen. The USB on the phone seems to have been botched, none of my computers will recognize it (Windows or Linux), the phone will not even charge. I can however get into both recovery and download modes without problem.
Naturally, download mode does no good because the USB is useless and I do not have clockwork mod installed on the phone to bypass the verification error.
I tried to simply install clockwork via recovery in hopes that would do something, but I get a verification error with that.
Is there anyway around this using the SD card or am I holding a $300 paperweight?
Thanks
Maybe try this-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125

Thanks, for the link. I did check it out, but couldn't figure out what the poster was talking about with drive letters and such. That dmesg | tail told me nothing about my sd. I unzipped everything to the card by a different method but my the computer still wouldn't recognize the phone, so booting back into windows did nothing.
Sorry for the delay in response, I've been extremely busy with work.
I'm still at a total loss on this.

Android storage encryption

Hey guys, got the following problem:
Important things first: I am from germany and I know that my english isn't the best, but I'll do everything I can for explaining everything, so you can understand me.
So, the problem is complex; please read everything^^.
I am proud user of my HTC One M8, and after months of "normal" using, I tried out several things like custom roms, storage encryption and such things.
The last custom ROM I was using is ViperONE.
On my One M8 there is S-ON, USB-debugging is deactivated, the H-BOOT version is 3.16.0.0000. (

, please excuse the quality).
There is a problem with the recovery partition/version --> when I want to boot into recovery, it opens H-BOOT.
Now, what happened:
I often tried to reset the smartphone: install a new rom, etc.
And with every try I became sad, because it failed.
It could not open the required recovery-mode. God knows why.
As initially mentioned I encrypted the storage, and on the decryption screen was written, that the smartphone will hard-reset after 30 times of incorrect password input.
I thought, it would be a good idea, to try that out.
But first, it seemed like the best thing to disable usb-debugging. I think, I been totally brain-afk.
So, I did this (disable usb-debugging, restart mobile phone, 30 times incorrect password input), and watching as the phone get doomed.
The phone starts into H-BOOT, thats it.
But... no, one more thing, my decryption password got changed.
I can do nothing for several months.
Funfact: After some search in blogs, asking google, etc. I found out that my only mistake it was, to turm usb-debugging off. If I haven't did that, there where no other problems.
Any ideas, what to do?
Do you know, what the decryption-password is now? I thought it could be null, so the password-variable is empty. But on this point, I have not idea, what I should do.
Please only write constructive posts, nothing like "customer service". If there is no chance, on saving the smartphone, it's ok, but please write, why you think, that there is no way.
Thanks a lot,
Sincerely, Dardassa

[COMBINATION FILE] [Galaxy A5-2017/A250f]

I tried to play a COMBINATION FILE on it, it was the version A520FXXUBASF1 because I was told that it is the binary 12, but it does not work it keeps telling me SW REV Check fail (bootloader) Device 12 Binary 11.
The reason for this is. that from my uncle the son had the cell phone and his google account linked. and the cell phone was set to factory reset and these no longer know the data. So with I want to put the phone once again completely and through numerous videos I was shown that I first have to play a combination file on it before I install a firmware again. Unfortunately, this is not possible as described above
and maybe someone has the right combination file for me, the current firmware, I have the works that I have already tested this is called A520FXXUCCSK1.
I already apologize for my bad english

You dont need such a combination file.
Just install the firmware through odin and you are good to go.

I did that anyway, the phone requires the old Google account previously set. and as described above, the data is unknown

So, if I understand this correctly, you are trying to get your google account login data?
no i want to remove this google login so I do not have to register first because we do not know the data anymore

and therefore would like to bypass the google login, because as I said the data is no longer known or have been forgotten. and I can not log into the phone

Need Help Bypassing FRP on Pixel C Tablet with Android 8, Talkback 6.0.0, Outdated YT

I acquired this tablet for relatively cheap in auction from a remarketer, and feel like I know why now. None of the methods I can find seem to work to removing the FRP on it.
I did manage to cause it to crash a couple times, once corrupting the data letting me factory reset it again in recovery through the method described in this XDA post, however it was still locked at this point. I did write down the build info when this happened. 8.0.0/OPR1.170623.027/4292972
I did manage to successfully perform the trick described in that post and pull down notification bar, but when I go to more settings, all it gives me is this

. Doesn't really allow me to navigate anywhere more useful. Image
I've also managed to try the TalkBack video method, with the video in Morse Code, as there is no video in the "Get Started with Voice Access". This would probably work in the past, except that currently Youtube needs an update on this device, and when I try it brings me back to the FRP Login.
Youtube Update-FRP Login
At this point I'm at a loss of what to do. It's a challenge. Is there any hardware bypass that exists, such as shorting some pins on a firmware chip? Any Software I can run on my computer to aid in this task? Nothing I could find for this device, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough. Perhaps a method to trick Youtube into running without the update?
following
I don't know if there is nor do I personally own a Pixel C but I do have experience with getting FRP gone on more than one device I've owned in the past. These methods you see are extremely sensitive and even a few seconds time pause or anything except exactly how whoever is doing them is, can end up unsuccessful. Also many of the methods get patched with updates... Just be careful because there are many fake advertisments out there about this that say pay $____ and we will do it ..And they don't. All I can say is search search search and try it all and if you already have done that do it again. I had a Motorola phone some years ago and I bricked it. Hard brick... I messed around with the blankflash file trying to get it to work for weeks!!! I must have attempted to get it to work 500 times at least!!! I kept trying and one day it worked. Don't give up and when you follow those methods to remove FRP on YouTube make sure you are following EXACTLY how they are doing it.
Here's a method I just came across: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/pixel-c-8-1-1-frp-bypass.3879498/

Huawei P20 FRP Lock Removal

Hello XDA,
Hoping someone here can help me. Not sure if it was relevant, but something must be but I was installing an APP on my P20 that helps to verify you to access Canada Gov't websites. Yada yada and now my phone has a password on it. At some point I was given Google Codes, but those do not unlock my phone now. I tried updating the phone from wifi and safe mode however it still comes up with the password screen below. The SIM card is now in my new phone (S20 - done with Huawei) and the old phone is in Airplane mode. When I drag up from the bottom you can see that menu at the bottom that mentions "Enable Magazine unlock" but doesn't do anything except calculator and flashlight.
Yes I can access recovery menu and the option to Factory Reset is certainly there and I know how to use it. The thing is I have over 3000 photos (most of them of our Cats) on there and I cannot and will not lose them. Been hacking this thing for a few days now and even though the P20 does not have an SD CARD slot, I was able to insert a USB stick in the USB-C slot with a bunch of useful hack .APKs but I cannot seem to be able to use them. In the EMUI menu I can select Update from USB but it just hangs at 5%.
I don't mind any kind of solution but it has to keep my data. Would installing Cyanogenmod delete my data? Anyone encountered this before? Also - obviously my phone has not been rooted and trying to connect to the PC via USB does recognize the phone, but Visual Studio, the Huawei software and ADB and everything else does not recognize it enough to communicate with it, perhaps because of the password.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
DJ Lem

Have you try to make a backup onto your pc or does it not see the device? I know there’s Back up Option under recovery mode at more than one place but not so sure if it would include all of your data.
The only way to disable a password on a huawei is thro factory-reset along with the password setup proses.
You said something about google codes. Can’t it by chance be from your find my phone, that the device is secured from find my phone platform
