stuck in recovery mode - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung galaxy tab 3 light it also has TWRP recovery.
After installing this app: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=phongit.quickreboot&hl=en
and using it to boot into recovery, I am now stuck recovery boot loop,I can however still get into download mode.
I also do not have a customer rom or custom kernel installed.
I tried using backups that I have, wiping cash, and even entering strings of code in terminal that I found on forums that said it would work, and none of it seems to work.
I do not care about keeping any data that's on there I just want to get out of the loop.
P.s please keep in mind that I am extremely new to android, as well as this form.

The onlyest way is flash STOCK with Odin.
If you want root, flash PhilzTouch with Odin, after flash Boot directly with Power ,Volume+ and Home button into Recovery and flash The SuperSu.ZIP V1.94
After that install The supersu.APP from playstore and update The supersu.
This way was working by me.

Issue flashing CWM recovery

Hey guys,
So I just rooted my rogers galaxy s3 and I'm trying to install CWM recovery. My phone isnt on the ROM manager list so I tried flashing it through odin. I've tried about 7 times each with different versions of cwm recovery and odin keeps saying it was a success but whenever I try to go into recovery mode I just go to android system recovery and not CWM recovery. I have no clue why this is happening.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Zach

Btw i dunno why its not working it worked for me.. but i switched cuz CWM SUCKS get twrp bruh its touch and everything and it tells you how much battery you have while flashing...
Download goomanager off playstore... download some random rom (you dont need to flash the rom its only so it gives u the link to the open recovery) you will be asked if you have a recovery installed say no install open recovery they install TWRP on your phone done.. happy flashing

Had the same problems, follow this guide use the latest versions of everything (Odin, etc.). The key is the pulling of the battery after flashing and before you boot. Once I did that I got into CWM no problem.

Yeah I ended up installing TWRP, and I flashed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684&highlight=gapps
Good so far!
This is probably the same issue i was having where the stock recovery kept coming back. You will need to rename or delete these two files.
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh

Clock work mod problem, please help

Galaxy S3 from at&t, i rooted my phone as soon as got it several months ago, I've flashed colockwordmode 3 times in the last day or so and i cannot make to work, i followed the steps exactly as described, Odin is showing the green pass, the binary cont is increasing every time I've tried but i can't get the phone to start in recovery mode by holding volume up, home and power! it just reboot and turns the phone on or it goes into the Samsung recovery mode (blue screen). Very frustrating!, anyone can please help.
BTW, when i rooted my phone i installed clockwordmode then and it worked fine, i had not has to use it since, I'm running the stock ROM i want to flash another ROM, before i do that i need to use clockworkmode and that's when i realized that it was not working anymore, then tried to flash it 3 times but no success. I still have root.
Have you tried twrp?

This will happen until you load a custom rom I believe. Same thing happened to me then when I installed a rom it started being able to boot into cwm

flash recovery again in odin but make sure the "auto reboot" box is NOT checked. once its done flashing, unplug it and remove the battery for a second. replace the battery and immediately hold down vol up+home+power. this should take you into cwm if it flashed correctly
this could happen when you didn't root it properly
anyways, if you are rooted(as you said), get twrp and see
+1 for twrp

If you still have root, you might want to try installing CWM directly from your phone, using the dd terminal command to copy CWM into the right partition:
Download the latest CWM .img file from CWM's site: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Put the file in your phone. For simplicity reason, I would suggest you put it in the root of your internal SD card. And because you will need to type the whole path+filename in the terminal in your phone, I would also suggest you rename the file to something simple, like cwm.img;
If you don't already have it, install Android Terminal Emulator;
Now, open the terminal emulator, and type the following commands:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/cwm.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
(That is, if you rename the CWM file to "cwm.img" and you actually put it in the root of your internal SD card. If you put it somewhere else or did not rename your file, you will need to adapt the "if=" part of the command.)
Profit.

Just curious: are you trying to flash CWM via Odin? If so where did you get it from? Did you install a botched version of stock recovery maybe (or one that is from another model of S3)? Try TWRP from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28019751&postcount=1. It is at the bottom of the post and it is labeled "Odin Flashable TWRP Recovery" under Miscellaneous files. Download and install via Odin.
And if you are on Jelly Bean, your flash counter will increment in your dealings with custom recoveries and roms. You only option at this point (if you have root still) is to get Triangle Away and run it in order to reset the counter. However, even if you clear your flash counter, if you go back into recovery it will trip again.

I'm still using stock ROM, i'd like to install a custom ROM but i'm reading that you have to have Clockworkmod to do a successful install.
When i check in the files of the phone (sd card) i can see the clockwordmod folder in there there but still can't get it to boot into cwm recovery, only the Samsung recovery and I've tried the volume up home and power button so many times but no success.
Why do you think it worked when i first rooted the phone and not now?
this is frustrating, thanks for the help.

Yes I've tried 3 times via Odin, i can't remember where i got the cmw file from, it's a tar file (clockworkmod.TAR), the part i don't understand is why when i first rooted the phone in August cwm worked, i used it to install the root and now after trying to install it again 3 times i can't get it to work.
I'm using the stock ROM, not jelly bean.

Download goo manager app and open that. There will be an option to "install open recovery" in the menu. Voilà a superior recovery that's easier to use
You can even use it to boot into recovery or install the new update for it.

Easiest way to install TWRP is using GooManager from the Play Store.
1. Open GooManager.
2. Press the menu key to open the contextual menu, and select Install OpenRecoveryScript.
3. The app will ask you to confirm you really want to install a new recovery image.
4. GooManager searches for the correct TWRP build for your device. Look at the Filename line, it should display openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-d2att.img for AT&T or openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-d2can.img for Rogers/Bell/Telus. Again, confirm the installation.
5. Wait for the download to begin. TWRP will install. Done.
If it does not work or if GooManager does not find the correct build for your device -- in this latter case, this should raise a flag for you, as you may not have a SGH-i747/SGH-i747M; double check your phone model --, you can always install TWRP manually. From TWRP website (http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2), you can grab the IMG file to manually install from the terminal emulator, and a TAR file to install using ODIN.

if you have root, download Rom Manager and install cwm from the menu.
i've also heard that, if rooted, you can erase /system/recovery-from-boot.p and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh (using ES File Explorer or Root Explorer) an that will make cwmstick. this is due to newer software versions overwriting your stock recovery on reboot.

You can enter download mode and reflash stock image with Odin. If you were running the stock rom you may not lose your data. Let me know if you don't know how to do this and I will direct you. It seems that something has become corrupted, but Odin will fix that

After flashing Odin you should have access to the 3e recovery. Unless something is wrong with your hardware (Volume broken?), I can not see why you would not be able to enter recovery.

You can download an Odin flashable recovery from here. http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/d2att. you will want the .tar file.
Beyond this i'm running out of ideas. Not too sure if this will work if you have gone stock with Odin as it may have taken root from you. Worth a try though.
Maybe an emergency recovery through Kies... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984717
Beyond that try Odin again and re download the stock Rom from a different source. You may have gotten a bad download. I have read of it happening. Maybe even an older firmware or Canadian one (i'm assuming you're ATT): http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SGH-I747

I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue to mine and how to flash a custom rom after that. The only way I've found for the phone to work was to use ODIN to flash the stock firmware on it. After that, if I try to install a custom ROM, it goes back to the SAMSUNG screen at boot.
So if you, jikre, know how to fix this issue, I'm all ears.
This method has fixed numerous problems. Might be worth a try.

If you wanted to install custom rom, if so, you can't flash it through Odin (Only for flashing for Official stuff ). Download a custom rom, whichever you wanted(Copy that rom on externel SD), reboot into recovery and by selecting 'wipe data and cache' >> 'clean to install a new rom'.
Then again coming to main menu select Install zip from sd, and redirect it to rom file which you've downloaded. In any custom rom like DN3, SenSonic they've full procedure for flashing the rom, just stick to it to install it perfectly...
Any quest?

Or press Vol. up + Menu key and then power key for 5~10 secs it'd boot your phone into recovery mode."<<
Any quest?

Jikre, I've already mentioned several times I know how to flash a recovery and custom ROM. I'm saying that the phone stops working after I try to do so.

Got you man, i'm just saying that this problem of yours is come with the Andro v4.3 and knox bootloader. First if anyone tried to install custom recovery it get stuck on bootlogo, but that is an another factor you can reboot it manually into recovery menu.
On the end when you attempt to reboot (from recovery) it asks you to disable stock recovery and you reboot your phone normally, that's it!

Ah okay, that makes sense. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to my situation. I had already been on a 4.3 custom rom for several months when the phone just died like that. As of right now, I can only get it to work if I flash a stock ROM on it.

Just try to wipe your phone from custom recovery (Not 'Clean Flash' & It may work). Have you tried to disable to recovery at end when it asks?

I have used both CWM and TWRP recoveries. Complete wipe every time before installing a new ROM. Still doesn't work. Only wiping and installing stock firmware through ODIN would the phone start.

Which ROM you tried to flash? Can you upload a pic of PC Odin, showing how you flash the phone. Or just enlist the options.
Try flashing your phone by philz touch ('Wipe Data & Cache >> Clean to Install a New ROM" << Maybe your previous installation troubling to set a new one, If persist again try this method):

[Q] Custom recovery

I Keep trying to install custom recovery, but none of the methods I found work. these arch told me to use goo manager, but that didn't work. My friend said to use Clockwork or Cyanogens but clockwork did not work, and I can't find cyanogen. please tell me how you installed your custom recovery, because I'm afraid to do anything else after rooting
Now my friend is saying because neither of those work, rooting was a waste (which I don't believe), but what do you guys think?
Installing TWRP can take a few tries. Took me about a half an hour to get my tablet to take to the custom recovery. Be sure to flash 2.6.3 as 2.7 doesn't yet work. Flash via the latest Odin as well.

This generally works for me..
Make sure you reboot your device and go directly into your custom recovery (volume up + home+ power)
Before your device starts

You only flash recoveries through Odin or via ADB. Any other way will have a very high risk of screwing something up. Also as long as you can get into download mode you can get the stock image from sammobile and flash via Odin.
