Hi all,
Another question from the new guy. But first, I have to say that this app is amazing and is FINALLY letting me get exactly what I want on my phones home screen. So THANK YOU to everyone involved for that. Now, if I can just fumble my way through some more rich text...
My question this time is about all day events and splitting them out from the rest of my calendar for a given day. I work in a large department who use all day events to notify people when they are out of office. It works well in outlook (as long as people remember to set the "set time as free" option) to notify everyone when they will be OOO.
That said, on my widget, I want to group all the titles of all day events (with no extra info like start time, etc.) into one block of text. i.e. Manny OOO, Moe on Vaction, Jack on business travel. Then, in another list, i want to list out my actual appointments for the day.
I'm at a loss for where to even begin here? I've been toying with $#C0D#=1?#C0Shh\:mm#$ that I found online to try to skip to the first "real" appointment? But that just keeps returning blanks? It also feels like it has something to do with #C1D# but no idea how to properly use that either? Being an absolute noob at this stuff i am trying my best to hunt online and find answers, but its really challenging. Any help pointing me in the right direction is GREATLY appreciated.

So Ive switched to a smartphone for various reasons from the wizard, and Im trying to at least get a couple things I was quite fond of into my excalibur.
First, I would love to see my contacts first name, last name. I noticed a few people raised the question, but I have yet to see a solution. Any help with this would be great.
Second, and infinitely more important, I desperately need a way to run some palm software (http://www.davideubank.com/ , important calculation charts for on set movie stuff) on the phone. I was using style tap on the wizard, but it was a bit buggy. If anyone know of any way to run this stuff that would be amazing.
Thanks guys, keep rockin.

Hello again all,
I posted a few days ago about how I was going to move from MS to WAD2.
The thing about MS is although it's stable, and it works well..it's not configurable/customizable without great pain.
WAD is very configurable, but kills my battery in less than a day (with MS I can easily get 2 days or more). It's also very sluggish and doesn't seem to link directly into things eg, in MS hitting the SMS icon takes you into your sms folder, in WAD it takes you to the messages list where you have to select the sms folder adding additional clicks to get to what you want isn't really desirable. This is the same with the email icon.
So I thought I'd try winterface...which is far too complicated and just doesn't seem to be very user friendly
Is there anything else left to try? are these the top 3 that people are using?
Thanks

you can configure WAD to go to anything mate. The reason it is going to messaging when you want SMS is because the theme you are running links it that way. You can link to individual files, folders or .lnk files. THe .lnk files are great because you can pass parameters inside which is how the MS sms link is working anyway. There is no "sms" program, it IS the messaging program with a parameter passed upon execution.
I dont get too bad of battery life from WAD but I am nto really runnign aything else that would drain my batter so that may be helping me. There is nothing out there that can even shake a stick at WAD from a customization perspective. I say you stick with WAD and customize the themes yo ualready love with the links you desire.
ok I wanted to go grab more info for you about the sms thing. when looking at the sms.lnk file I created for my iphone theme, properties shows that to bring up sms directly you need to have
"tmail.exe" -service "SMS"
tmail.exe is just the messaging program and the rest tells it what service to start in. I believe setting to "MMS" also works as well as putting the account in the "". If you named you email Yahoo then "Yahoo" would work and th elnk would take you to the inbox of your yahoo account you set up
ok..that's a huge help as despite it's sluggishness and battery hungryness....I love the fact that I can do anything I want with WAD.
If only there was somewhere that told me about that command!!..I've downloaded the manuals etc, and there's no mention in them about how to use such commands, or how to make a meter, etc etc..
and I hate asking people too many questions.

lol i hear ya. I learned from here and other forums. I dont know all that much either. I just get an idea, assume it is possible and go search for ways to make it a reality
Hi guys,
Unfortunately it's that time of the year again where students go back to their universities and begin the process of temporarily absorbing material so that they can pass exams in order to get a piece of paper (Certificate) =P.
I have been looking for a program that will list all of my lectures/tutorials in a way that will integrate with TF3D, but unfortunately, most of the programs do more than I need and don't really look nice. I don't want to use the Home Screen for this because it would be too cluttered, and I don't want to use the Calendar for this because I want to reserve this for important/once-off events.
I am wondering if anybody would be willing to make me/teach me how to make a program that will simply list all of my lectures/tutorials for the day? Ideally it will be accessed through an additional tab in TF3D (using Singh's 15 tabs? or something else?). I am thinking that the list will give the subject name/title, location and time details. There is no need for things like assignments, due dates, etc, as this can be done through Calendar. Preferably this program will also be finger-friendly!
Is there something I can use to program it myself (I have basically no programming experience)? Or is someone able/willing to help me? I am willing to help out with the interface.
I think that this may be a relatively simple program to write, but I have no idea how to do it. Or is there something out there that does this already? I have searched the forums for "timetable", and also Google for "timetable windows mobile app", but nothing seems to suit.
Thanks guys!
Okay, by the number of views on this thread, I can probably guess that this is something that people are interested in...
...but nobody seems to know how/interested in doing it =S.
I am also thinking that this can be expanded into other uses, say, a To-Do list that's available at a glance, or a shopping list. I think it would be look best if it looked like the other TF3D tabs, both icon-wise as well as the theme wise (ie: see-through/big entries/smooth scrolling).
If anyone is willing to point me in the direction of how to make an app like this, I am more than willing to give it a shot. I only have a basic understanding of Visual Basic (from high school, lol ). But I can give it a shot.
Can someone point me in the direction of how to make this app? Or better yet, do it for me?
My bad about the double-post, but nobody seems to want to post!
sounds weird? well there are two things REALLY bugging me about the hero rom:
- no appointments list like in magic, only day or month view. there is no list at all of upcoming events. you cant even scroll through the weekdays in "day-view-mode". no preview of appointments in month-view. so the only way to see upcoming events is to tap on that marked day in month view
- auto-completion while typing automatically inserts the highlighted suggestion when you hit space or period. no way to stop that. makes typing in different languages a pain in the a$$.
so, question is, any way to build a custom rom of the magic to fit the hero? i would be perfectly happy with a plain simple android os, no "sense" or other gimmics required.

Guess what im going to say.....
If you didnt want the sense UI you shouldve purchased a Magic.....
This shouldnt even be posted in this section FFS
its not that i dont want, i just dont really need it. its nice, but i would trade it for those two features of the magic, which is also sitting on my desk right here
my priorities would be speed, usability and reliability, not necessarily looks.
so anyway, would it be possible?
use the Fu***ng SEARCH. There are some threads talking about running magic rom.
What I am looking for is something I can fill in with all the medications that need to be taken during the course of a 24hr period and have the system prompt me with a pop-up at the appropriate time to do just that. It would also be nice if it could keep track of the quantity of each medication and remind me to re-order in sufficient time.
Spent ages searching online for some software and while I have found this OnTimeRx, it is not pretty and personally is lacking a function or two, not to mention it is very Americanised.
The missing functions for me are:
The reminder function for re-order is hard coded at 5 days, need this to be editable.
It is incapable of coping with the situation where you take one of a tablet at breakfast and then two of the same tablet at tea time. It will allow you to take 2 tablets, twice a day and set a reminder for each but not differing quantities.
Generally not finger friendly.
Anyone up for the challenge or able to suggest something else?
Hi Deedee
Isn't it something that calendar can handle, with recurrence functions and notifications. As for order reminder, after you have calculated once how many pills or whatever you need in a month or week, you can also set a recurrence and reminder.
Correct me if I'm wrong or missed something.
Anyhow, good health and good luck
Thanks for the concern over my health.
While it is something that could be managed by careful manipulation of calendar, reminders and recurrence, the solution being sought is something that would have all the medical details in one place. Ideally something that can also manage emergency contact details as well.
