Does anyone know of any good Personal Information Management software for Windows Mobile? I am not asking a whole lot. Just be able to search for a key word among appointments, todos, notes shouldn't be too much to ask for, is it? The current Calendar and Task applications can't even do that.
Thanks!
there are a ton of them, google PIM, windows mobile and your search will come up with Pocket Informant, Agenda One, and a bunch of others.
thanks!

Actually, I have done a google search before. Like you said, there are a ton. Perhaps, I should change my question to which PIM is better for the WM 6.1.
thanks!
i have been using agenda one - works for everything I need and I am kinda picky. If theres something better fill me in. Download the free trial and see if you like it.
PIM
Try Papyrus or Agenda One - both are among the best
Agenda One not working very well

Thank you for the suggestions! I downloaded the trial version of Agenda One - supposed to be full featured with time limit. I tried several searches - some search all, some search only in appointment, or only todos. None of them worked. It looked like the program tried for a while, then it simply terminated (not the search, but the entire Agenda one program). It kicked me back to the today screen, and the process no longer listed in the task list
Try the recently released Papyrus 2. It's frakkin' amazing
try agendus over at www.iambic.com
Agenda One is no go

I signed up at Developer One support forum, and tried to post this question. It's been a couple of days, they don't even show my posting in the forum. I tried to ask the same question again, still blocked by the moderator. Oh well, moving on to Papyrus 2 trial now.
Thank you all for the suggestions! I thought I'd spend a few words sharing my opinions on the products I've been trying out:
Agenda One - in spite of the awards the company claims they have received, I find this product adds very little value to the existing WM 6.1 PIM functionality. Some pretty colors, that's it. When I started my quest for a better PIM, all I was looking for was a search function. Agenda One has it. I had made many variations of attempts to use it, search all, search in appointments only, search in todos only, search whole word, partial word, any words .... Not once did it ever complete the search with any result. Every single time, the function started, try for a while, then the program crashed. It simply terminate. I submitted the question to the company's support forum, the question itself didn't get posted until 5 days later - as the moderator has to screen every single post. When it did appear, other user indicated same problem on other smart phone as well. I'm not the only one.
Edit: the forum blocked my complaint, and finally come back with a question - it remotely sounds like it cares, but the question is useless. If they read my post, they would have found the answer there. I feel like dealing with a communist government official - sensor everything, sloooooooooow to respond and defend every criticism ...
Papyrus 2.0 - the calendar layouts are reasonably flexible, so you can customize how you want to see all the activities. The search is very fast, even if I have more than 30 matches, they show up as soon as the program finds them. There is one thing I don't like, but I suspect I may be able to figure out a way to change, that is, I only want to see todos that are not yet completed on a daily basis. Even though I have that specified, it is still showing me the todos that are already marked complete (not all of them, just the ones that have no dates associated with). To me, they are done, they are done. Why would I want to look at them everyday just because their complete dates were not marked? Other than that, everything seems to be pretty good. They've got nice colors just like Agenda One, and price is about the same.
Agendus Pro - Agendus Pro has a rich set of nice features - in addition to the regular calendar/todo/contact views, you can also access call log, email, quote of the day, day in history, weather forecast, and stock quote all from this application. I didn't think about these before, but, they are very nice to have. The cost of this product is no more than the others. Another nice feature - there is a tool bar (either on top or bottom of the screen) you can use to select the format of display (day view, week view, month view, list, contact, email, etc, etc. With the other products (Agenda One, and Papyrus), you have to press the view soft bottom, which brings up another screen that let you select the format. Agendus layout is more intuitive and direct.
Having said all of that, I do have a couple of complaints -
- Agendus Pro take up 3.7 MB, whereas Papyrus - 700 KB, Agenda One - 966 KB. These are the cab size, I know that Agendus Pro includes several language supports, which contribute to the bigger CAB size. Nevertheless, the memory foot print is still the biggest among the 3.
- my 2nd complaint is that when you load the program just to look at some details in an appointment, the program starts and you don't see anything in the calendar - it tells you that you don't have any activity. Then, a little box flashes "initializing ...", "initializing ...", "initializing ..." ... My screen went out 4 times before I can finally see the content of my day's calendar. If it takes less memory, I may just keep it running, which would not have the "initializing ..." problem. Since the program takes up so much memory, I don't want to keep it in the memory. This is a deal killer for me. It's too bad. I like the features a lot.
Edit: Since the above was written, I've tried two more software packages. Nothing stood out. One fenomenal ability make Papyrus shine among all the others is how fast the search function performs. Everyone else wait, and wait, and wait until they've collected all the matches and put them on the screen all at once. If you have a sizable database (mine has about 2000 entries), you'll be staring at a blank screen with a spinning wheel forever, the screen saver would kick in multiple times. Whereas Papyrus' search shows you the match results as it progresses through the database. Maybe the match I am looking for is the first couple out of 50, why would I need to wait until it finds 50 before showing me first two? That's just a simply logic. I don't get what the other developers were thinking ....
Needless to say, Papyrus 2.0 becomes my choice. Their forum is great, too! Very happy about this decision
thanks!
Hi guys,
Unfortunately it's that time of the year again where students go back to their universities and begin the process of temporarily absorbing material so that they can pass exams in order to get a piece of paper (Certificate) =P.
I have been looking for a program that will list all of my lectures/tutorials in a way that will integrate with TF3D, but unfortunately, most of the programs do more than I need and don't really look nice. I don't want to use the Home Screen for this because it would be too cluttered, and I don't want to use the Calendar for this because I want to reserve this for important/once-off events.
I am wondering if anybody would be willing to make me/teach me how to make a program that will simply list all of my lectures/tutorials for the day? Ideally it will be accessed through an additional tab in TF3D (using Singh's 15 tabs? or something else?). I am thinking that the list will give the subject name/title, location and time details. There is no need for things like assignments, due dates, etc, as this can be done through Calendar. Preferably this program will also be finger-friendly!
Is there something I can use to program it myself (I have basically no programming experience)? Or is someone able/willing to help me? I am willing to help out with the interface.
I think that this may be a relatively simple program to write, but I have no idea how to do it. Or is there something out there that does this already? I have searched the forums for "timetable", and also Google for "timetable windows mobile app", but nothing seems to suit.
Thanks guys!
Okay, by the number of views on this thread, I can probably guess that this is something that people are interested in...
...but nobody seems to know how/interested in doing it =S.
I am also thinking that this can be expanded into other uses, say, a To-Do list that's available at a glance, or a shopping list. I think it would be look best if it looked like the other TF3D tabs, both icon-wise as well as the theme wise (ie: see-through/big entries/smooth scrolling).
If anyone is willing to point me in the direction of how to make an app like this, I am more than willing to give it a shot. I only have a basic understanding of Visual Basic (from high school, lol ). But I can give it a shot.
Can someone point me in the direction of how to make this app? Or better yet, do it for me?
My bad about the double-post, but nobody seems to want to post!
This was posted (not by me) on the old forums but I want to discuss it over here;
I’ve started to put together a simple widget for calendar events and bumped into the problem that #C0# might have a start date in the past (when that event is just happening). In this case, #C0S# might even be yesterday. I tried to base my script on “R” and “T” parsers, but had to face the fact that these give an absolute value.
As abs() function is available among maths features, while on the other hand generating the positive/negative sign for it with additional calculations is fairly complicated, I’ve been wondering if it would be possible to provide this data in a negative form for past dates.
If there’s a reason for the absolute value, it’d be also a great help to have a simple parser that gives -1 for past dates and 1 for future ones.
A UNIX date parser for #D…# might also come handy and could give a possible workaround, although I’d rather prefer the past-date-parser.

My suggestion is to get rid of the absolute value from the "R" and "T" parsers and replace it with negative & positive numbers. Feature request?
Hi all,
Another question from the new guy. But first, I have to say that this app is amazing and is FINALLY letting me get exactly what I want on my phones home screen. So THANK YOU to everyone involved for that. Now, if I can just fumble my way through some more rich text...
My question this time is about all day events and splitting them out from the rest of my calendar for a given day. I work in a large department who use all day events to notify people when they are out of office. It works well in outlook (as long as people remember to set the "set time as free" option) to notify everyone when they will be OOO.
That said, on my widget, I want to group all the titles of all day events (with no extra info like start time, etc.) into one block of text. i.e. Manny OOO, Moe on Vaction, Jack on business travel. Then, in another list, i want to list out my actual appointments for the day.
I'm at a loss for where to even begin here? I've been toying with $#C0D#=1?#C0Shh\:mm#$ that I found online to try to skip to the first "real" appointment? But that just keeps returning blanks? It also feels like it has something to do with #C1D# but no idea how to properly use that either? Being an absolute noob at this stuff i am trying my best to hunt online and find answers, but its really challenging. Any help pointing me in the right direction is GREATLY appreciated.
I'm trying to design a homescreen that's fairly compact and functional. Rather than displaying the actual events that will be occuring, I want to try and get my widget to tell me how many events are occuring today and tomorrow ie:
x events today, y events tomorrow.
However, I can't seem to find any method of possibly achieving this. Is it possible to get Zooper to count events between now and say, midnight?
I've searched around and i couldn't find anything (or I'm just bad at searching). Any help would be much appreciated!

As far as the exact syntax, I'd have to think on/test it, but logic-wise I might have a solution and from it you can hack through the syntax to make it work.
Firstly, Zooper can't count or support arrays or loops, etc. So, you'd have to find a way to get each event to equal a "(1)" and then add them all together.
The easiest way to do this would be with Tasker and then send over a single variable to Zooper, but Tasker's native Calendar app integration is somewhat hit or miss depending on device and Android version, etc.
So, how can we do this in Zooper? Well as I was typing this I tried testing a few different way and realized each time you perform a mathematical operation in Zooper the result is a display result and not a new number you can then add or subtract from something else.
Maybe someone has a solution though. Would be interested to see how it can be done without Tasker.
It seems the following would work for counting today's remaining events. All-day events may mess it up. The basic idea is to test if event n is today and event n+1 is not today. It would look like this
...
$#CnSyyyyMMdd#<=#DyyyyMMdd#&&#Cn+1SyyyyMMdd#>#DyyyyMMdd#?n+1$
...
Or,
$#C0SyyyyMMdd#>#DyyyyMMdd#?0$
$#C0SyyyyMMdd#<=#DyyyyMMdd#&&#C1SyyyyMMdd#>#DyyyyMMdd#?1$
$#C1SyyyyMMdd#<=#DyyyyMMdd#&&#C2SyyyyMMdd#>#DyyyyMMdd#?2$
$#C2SyyyyMMdd#<=#DyyyyMMdd#&&#C3SyyyyMMdd#>#DyyyyMMdd#?3$
$#C3SyyyyMMdd#<=#DyyyyMMdd#&&#C4SyyyyMMdd#>#DyyyyMMdd#?4$
$#C4SyyyyMMdd#<=#DyyyyMMdd#?5+$
You can expand it up if you want, but all this has to be on one line. You can probably shorten it with yy instead of yyyy. Now as far as tomorrow's events, good luck.

I came up with a similar solution for todays events as ewcrider (also should be one line in Zooper):
$#C0SddMMyy#=#DddMMyy#&&#C1SddMMyy#!=#DddMMyy#?1$ $#C1SddMMyy#=#DddMMyy#&&#C2SddMMyy#!=#DddMMyy#?2$
$#C2SddMMyy#=#DddMMyy#&&#C3SddMMyy#!=#DddMMyy#?3$
$#C3SddMMyy#=#DddMMyy#&&#C4SddMMyy#!=#DddMMyy#?4$
$#C4SddMMyy#=#DddMMyy#&&#C5SddMMyy#!=#DddMMyy#?5$
The difficulty is that the event number order changes so that the first upcoming event will always be C0, second C1 etc.
So for instance if you create the first event tomorrow it will be C0 but if you then create a event for today this will become C0 and the event for tomorrow will become C1.

This solution worked for me, as a simple cut and paste. Very crafty!!
