I recently got around to trying to get CM11 on my Xperia M. After following Sony's official instructions on their World developer siteon unlocking the bootloader, my phone induced a bootloop. I also suspect that fastboot isn't working, as volume down + usb plug in doesn't activate the characteristic blue LED on the phone's base... I'm really stumped. Any help would be much appreciated. Another question, since I have no idea whether the whole process worked or not, will I be able to send it in to service, in case the situation's rough?

So you were trying to use flashtool to revert your phone back to Stock... I guess the phone is now hardbricked :C Cause most of the time when people unlock their bootloader and did something wrong, the chance of reverting it back is incredibly low... I guess you should bring it back to where you bought it :C and not to mention entering fastboot is not working :C
I see, thanks anyway for your input mate!

I knw is that having bootloop after following the instruction sony introduced is just normal. You can fix it by flasing the 4.3 ftf.
Volume down + power is not fastboot mode it is download mode. You can only see green led flash once.

actually he said that fastboot doesnt start when connecting usb + volume down. That combination does not start fastboot, it starts flashmode. Fastboot is activated while connecting usb + volume up.

Hi guys,
I did something very stupid and it seems I've bricked my arc for good
My Arc had unlocked bootloader and was on rooted 2.3.2. When the phone found firmware OTA update, I chose to download it, then the phone rebooted and started installing new firmware. After a minute or so, it turned off and that was the end, it's not possible to turn it on any more. The led won't even lit up. Is there anything I can do to revive it ?
Arrrgh, this exact same thing happened to me, I woke up and it said there was software update available (I have unlocked bootloader and rooted 2.3.2)
I blame still being mostly asleep on hitting ok. Now I have a brick!
Some more info.
I've tried pulling the battery and putting it back in, It still won't power on.
I've tried holding down menu and plugging it into USB to reflash it and the blue light doesn't come on.
Sorry to hear that, and many people have this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106250
Can't update firmaware through OTA after unlocking bootloader
Sorry to hear about your phone
I always turn of the "auto check for updates" thingy on android. Learned the hard way on my Desire when it got updated to Froyo over OTA and had to wait a while for root lol.
Anyway,SE provided the info to unlock the bootloader and that an OTA coming from them bricks the phone is kinda silly. Far as i know u can't update through SEUS (might be wrong) when it's unlocked and it would be a nice idea maybe to not be able to install the OTA update either.

won't work if you can't get it into flash mode.
Can't you get it into Fastboot mode (give it a few hours charge..) then pull the battery for 30 seconds...
then hold the menu button while plugging the usb cable in... should (in theory) go into fastboot mode - then you can fastboot flash a fresh system.img

Tried - no help though. Any other ideas? Or just to go and buy a new one?
By the way, did the same thing: my Arc LT15i has/had unlocked bootloader, rooted 2.3.2 (first firmware) and is/was 3.0.A.2.181. While preparing to try to lock bootloader in order to use SEUS and upgrade firmware, I've connected the phone which asked me to check for the updates and found T-mobile update (approx. 40Mb). Asked to dowloand and an idiot pressed "OK". And now, everything is black - just as the mask of the phone is.
The green light just blinks when the "power on" button is pressed, or charger is plugged in.
Can't it be unbricked with flashtool?

[UPDATE] to my previous post:
Steps I have done:
1. Charged the battery for 4-5 hours
2. Flashed my Arc using the manual for flashing by @Step666
3. The progress went well and at the end there was a message:
"INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
INFO - Then go to application settings
INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging"
I have tried to turn on the phone. There was a small vibration as when you're turning on the phone (note: before flashing there was not even this vibration when pressing power on button), but the screen remains black.
Any ideas for next step(s)? Thanks for trying to help!

No, but it will need flash mode. Hold back button while plugging in usb to pc. If not recognized, use Wotan server.

Found the problem myself, after sliding up the little black test point cover, it interfered with the screen, so holding the top left corner tight enabled the screen, so shook the phone a bit and it's fine now, must have been wedged somewhere it shouldn't have been.

If you can boot into fastboot (blue light on usb connection) you may have a chance to load cyanogenmod to fix the partitions etc and then you could revert to stock 2.3.4
tried that. but i got it fixed, i just needed to relock my bootloader with a custom .ftf file and then just unlocked and all the steps again. and its all fine now

Ok after my sony ericsson xperia play did the software upgrade while on the charger, it will not boot back up!!
Not sure what happend, but when you press the power button, it only vibrates once but will not boot back up!
It just shows a black screen!!!!
I have sent it in to the shop and we are stuck as to how to get it on.
You can not even get into the boot loader screen!
Its been a week, and i don't know what the hell to do!!!
Some one please help!!!!
Does the power button light up green when you hold down the search button while plugging into a computer? If so, use flashtool to flash back to the stock firmware
Yes it dose, the tech guy and me have tried to do so, however the computer sees the device but dose not know what it is, however even when the files are finished it sitll dose not boot up!

If it lights up green then you cant get into fastboot, it should light up blue, if im not mistaken!
Is your phone Rooted, with BL Unlocked, and do you have CWM Recovery? You said you can not get into Bootload screen? Did you mean Recovery? Try pushing volume down repeatedly while pressing the power button, continue hitting volume down till you see the recovery screen. If you can get into recovery just do a nandroid recovery/restore, provided you did a back up prior to your issue.
It dose not light up blue, but it dose not go into the recovery screen at all, in fact when you press the power button, gives a small vibrate and the screen is still black!
Also when you put it on the charger the LED light is green, really frustrated.
However, I am new at this, like I said only had the device for a day, and this happened after I did a software update, so I am not sure what a CWM means, kindly clarify, think of giving instructions not just to a newbie, but to some one that has no clue what is going on! LOL sorry man I really am new to all of this, I just want it to work, so kindly provide me with step by step instructions that you would give to a five year old child.
Hmm... that's interesting. A CWM is a custom recovery. Green light when plugged in means its charging. It sounds almost like your phones LCD is not receiving a signal anymore, if that's the case, seeing as you wouldn't see anything on the screen in order to even do a recovery, I don't see a lot of options here. If its brand new, then its under warranty, take it back and exchange it.

This has nothing to do with your LCD =|.
It's sony's stupid software bricking the xperia play for no valid reason ; happened to me as well.
Only fix is to download Sony Ericsson Update Service and keep on retrying the software update after it fails ; This is not the Sony Ericsson Pc Suite ; Also try removing the battery for 30 seconds after 6-8 retries on SEUS - happened to me a few times after the original occurence since i was trying to get back to complete stock.
Thanks for the input, I was lost on how to help out on this one! I thought it was only bricking the rooted unlocked phones.

Connect it to your PC with USB, Then go to support Zone in Pc Companion then select Phone software update and click Repair and follow the instructions, it worked for me when pc companion decided to brick me...
EDIT: Or you could always Flash 2.3.4, tut here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20151540 just follow the first two posts, I believe it will work if Flashmode is still working (The tut will tell you how to get into there)

The Drivers won't install, when I run Flashtool-drivers.exe (that was the only one that existed) and select all of the xperia S drivers, the fastboot drivers and Flashmode drivers only Sony Eriksson Comunication something something is installed, the rest sas couled not be installed (but in swedish). You don't happen to have a solution for that. But installing the drivers this way wont help sins I still has to get it into fastboot to unlock the bootloader, to get the recovery upp and runnling... when I run the phone into fastboot from flash tools it dose the exact same thing as when I dose it manually, going into fastboot for ca 5s. then enter the Sony and then the charging screen.
Once agan, using windows 8 64-bit, have acces to a vista 32-bit. I have no experience with virtual macheans so if it was possible to avoid that, that would be good.
Thank in advanced

Flash doomlords kernel via fastboot....then reboot to system....if it will not boot successfully then push a ROM zip by adb push and flash it....one more thing just check whether your phone is connecting to PC via fastboot or flashmode.
.
The best way to check is by flashtool...open flashtool software on PC and then connect your phone via fastboot/flashmode and see the status at PC flashtool....if its connecting then flash stock ftf and if not then 1st install drivers..

As far as I know, it is not possible to wipe partition from CWM (if You selected from one of the options from menu) which would lead to hard brick.
Let us start with basics. Can You tell Me which kernel You flashed to get CWM? Also, is there any vibration when You press and hold power button and volume up key together?
