[Q] My z1 compact shows lower internal memory compared to phone settings(1gb less) - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all i am new to this wonderful forum,
I recently noticed that my xperia z1 compact shows exactly 1gb less internal memory when connected to windows than what shown in phone storage settings. when free memory in internal memory is less than 1 gb it shows as no memory available. I dont know whether this problem always existed or came after i rooted my phone and installed & experimented with things like xposed installer, greenify etc to get more battery
One relief was i checked my friends sony mobile (xperia p) which too had similar issue (1gb less when connected to windows) .External memory seems to work normal though.
I tried other mobiles like motorola's moto e and g which had only 100 mb less..1gb lesser is too much. What is happening? pls give an explanation. Is this normal or am i missing any major point! really concerned

I didn't notice it before, but it shows the same for me. Usually there is an alert when you start getting close to using all the space on your phone. I'm guessing Sony put a limit to how much you can transfer over so that you don't end up getting the low space notification, it might be different on cm or aosp roms, if someone would care to chime in about it.

Storage Memory

I have a Tmobile MDA Compact, and it keeps running out of storage memory, but I can't figure out what is using it. There are no exceptionally large files or anything.
Only software running is
NET 3.5
TrackMe
SQLCompact
Anybody any ideas?? I'm wondering if the SQL thing is getting full, but not sure how to empty it, I tried uninstalling it but that didn't help.

Just a moment, Sorage Memory depends on ROM's size, if you consider Artemis has 128MB (real 114MB) and a ROM is minimum 50MB, you have 64MB free, but if rom is bigger and use an ExtendedRom your free memory could be less than 26MB!!!
What rom are you using?

Not enough room to update apps?

Hi guys, in the last few months a strange problem has started appearing on my n7100 with 4.1.1.
It won't update apps, often when the apps are 20 mb+, but it happens with smaller apps too. It says there's not enough room on the device, but the whole time I've had around half a gigabyte on the internal memory, so I can't see what the problem is. Right now it says I have 660 mb free on internal, and 1.35 GB on the sd card.
Sometimes it has helped deleting some apps, but the problem comes back.
Any ideas?

You need like around 500 MB for your other apps to work .. Some apps will write and put files in your internal storage so they can function properly .. You have to delete some of your internal storage ..
You can't put apps in your External SDCard (unless you use some of the apps that makes it do that)..
BTW, update to 4.1.2 it might be the problem

That seems a bit ridiculous to me, when already the effective space is 10.36 GB. I would think that the space it needs to perform, was included in that. My old Htc desire was able to fill up till the memory ran out (which admittedly was very quickly).
No no, I know that, just wanted to give a detailed overview.
I would update, but with all those battery consumption problems I've been hearing about, I'm waiting for the next update, and then I'll see what people are saying.

[Q] Internal Storage problem.

Ive had the phone for about a month and my internal storage seems to have disappeared. So it has a 16gb Hard drive in the phone and I have a 16gb SD in the phone as well. When I go into settings, storage and look at the storage its says Ive used 14gb of 16gb, which seems weird because I dont have much installed on the phone. I have continually uninstalled apps to keep my room available but it seems I have less and less apps on it and less and less storage. I then plug the phone in to my PC and also use clean master to see what my storage is and they both say I have 1.7gb remaining out of 10gb.
So my question is where has the 6gb's gone?
TL/DR
Phone says ive used 14gb/16gb but my pc and clean master app say Ive used around 8gb/10gb
Try using app called diskusage, it should help you a bit.

Blackview A7 PRO - many problems

Hello everyone,
I am contacting you because i have many issues with the blackview A7 pro phone, that i have bought a week ago.
Shortly after my purchase many of the problems arose that are closely tied with the phone software (or so I believe).
First thing that troubles me the most, is the problem that is associated with the use of the SD card storage, that cannot be used as a place to store apps from my phone, except when I format my SD card as a internal storage. And even when I format my SD card as internal storage, i cannot see the correct value or my new storage (in gigabytes) because the old value doesn't add up to the value or the formatted SD card. The only option that I can use is the root if I want to move apps to SD card (!!!!)
Other thing is that internal memory is always reporting that I have 10.7 gb of memory instead of 16 gb, and there is no mention of where could possibly those 5 GB has gone!
I cannot root my phone because if I do this i will lose my warranty, or in the worst case, my phone will be bricked and it wont be useful anymore.
And I cant find any available root/roms out there on the internet except from your company and I am using the latest one that is: A7Pro-Blackview-V0.12-20171031_000220
One of the most intolerable problem is also the problem with wifi. The situation here is that any possible wifi network that i connect my a7 pro phone to, suffers from great oscillation and network loss.
Even if i am just a room away from ANY ROUTER i will have problems with oscillation from excellent to poor in just 10 seconds.
The other problem is the camera with its awful and poor quality regardless of the settings or application that i am using. Also the insult to injury is the lack of panorama option in the phones camera application. Other google play software cannot do the panorama option so well.
One other more tolerable problem is the complete lack of "look and feel" of the phones software and the inability to change or add other wallpapers or themes except when using the other peoples software from somewhere else (google play or any other platform). The built-in launcher3 is so poorly defined and so poorly supported that users are forced to change look and feel because of the awful design of the current software.
Does anyone know how can I resolve at least two of my problems (SD card problem and WiFi problem)?
Can anybody help?
anyone, please ? any help is much appreciated
is it possibile that i am posting this in the wrong sub-forum?
About your question, the first is pretty normal, every android since 6.0 have option to apply a extra storage with sd with formatting it ( i want rembemeber you that android not allow install on sd card normally, if not via root), also about your actual storage space again is normal, some gb are for file system and recovery, variuos brand have his own reservated space, so it can be changed from phone to phone. Since january is aviable a custom TWRP that can be installated trough SP flash tool, check on google. And for your last question is possible that is just a bug, so try to format the system and/or update your phone if aviable. Extra, for customizing yuor phone change launcher. Hope that will help you or someone else, there's nothing wrong in this low budget phone, every your question are common for any adroid device.

OOS12 Do Not Disturb Broken? Need to have 10 gigs storage free for accounts sync?

Hi everyone. Been on OOS12 for about 2 months now. Currently on c33 build. While I'm generally pleased, there are a few bugs that are bringing me down.
1) Do not disturb. I can toggle it and it shows. I've gone through the setting a hundred times. No matter what I do, when enabled, I still get audio alerts as well as vibration just like if it's off.
I did not do a factory reset when coming from OOS11. I really don't want the hassle of doing that only to find out that the bug is still there. Anyone comment on this?
2) Requirement of 10 gigs of storage to be free for 'accounts' to sync. Admittedly, I am a data boarder. That said, I usually have ~4 gigs of free space left on my phone at any given moment. When I upgraded to OOS12, I soon realized that accounts I have, like Google, or Samsung for my watch 4, weren't syncing. So, Gmail's won't come through, calendar wouldn't sync. Frustrated, I searched for answers and in the OnePlus forums, I found someone with the issue with a claim that you need at least 10 gigs of storage space free for sync to work. After painstakingly deleting music and other media, I eventually freed up some space. As soon as I had over 10 gigs of storage space free, Gmail's began to pour in again. I'd really like to use that 10 gigs of space that I'm unable to use anymore. Anyone else?
You should have a minimum of 20gb free space on internal memory. That's one reason why I always use a device with expandable storage.
I don't know, stuff some stuff in the cloud or a OTG flashstick...

Fair. If only OnePlus would sell me a phone with more than 256 gigs...sigh.
Agree on phones with external memory. I'm eyeing the Sony Xperia 5 IV for this very reason.

256gb isn't bad, I run about 90gb on internal and 453gb on the SD card currently. Only apps, the DCIM and download folders go on internal. My one N10+ has 500gb internal but try loading 400gb when you reload, takes forever. A lot easier to slam in a loaded SD card and use it to load all the apps from instead of Playstore. All contacts too and any apps that have backup support like Poweramp. The database is already loaded on the card. Makes setup a lot easier.
Get the Note 10+ if you don't mind no 5G or a variable refresh rate trade off for one of the best displays there is, even today. I don't like any of the new Samsung's but they got it near perfect with the N10+. It's a beast that runs like a bat out of hell... forget that's it's 3 years old. It rocks.
One can be had at a good price now too.

DND does not work on my device either
And 12.1 (C.35 build) didn't fix it

I'm so upset by it that I didn't even try to see if it was fixed on c.35. This is now how I manage my expectations with OnePlus.
Out of curiosity, is your c.35 a clean flash from a wipe/reset or a gradual upgrade like me?

It's a gradual upgrade like yours
(but with the full 4gb file, as it's rooted and ota differential upgrades do not work)
