LG built it to have a low iso and low shutter speed to keep it bright. It's not broken, but I didn't know if anyone knew how to modify anything to change it, or have an app to do so.
Try Camera FV-5 app. You can adjust iso and wb manually.
Pro capture works good for me.

Hey Guys,
I'm new to the Nexus, I just got it today. Had a HTC Sensation before.
I LOVE this phone! It's amazing! Everything is just so perfect! The one thing which bothers me is the Camera. Which I do use, a lot! Even my Sensation didn't have a nice camera itself but I remember my super old K850i! It used to take such crisp shots!
Any way to improve the shooter's performance?
You could decompile the camera and look for some delay or speed values in the code?
I will do so when I have time.
Good luck
Greets!
I'm not a fake.
I prefer people to reply to me and give feedback instead of thanking me!
But thanking me does show if you apreciate my works.

How would editing the Speed/Delay values help? Better focus time? :\
Touch and hold on-screen shutter button to focus, release to take picture, or touch the area in the view finder where you want to focus and the tap the on-screen shutter button.

Doesn't work on stock gsm 4.0.2.
I use an app called Camera Zoom FX from the market. It takes much better stills than stock. Costs 3 bucks though, but you can test it pretty thoroughly and get a refund if you don't like.

Look for the app camera ics in the market. Improves quality and uses the 4.0.4 camera app as a base

I use this as well
Camera Zoom FX doesn't make any impact. I've done some pretty extensive testing and unless it was something with my phone, there was almost no difference or there was no difference whatsoever. Couldn't notice anything at least.
this tweak for camcorder (from euroskank ROM) increase the average bitrate:
extract media_profiles.xml from media_profiles.xml.zip and place it to /system/etc

Hey guys, what's the photo size you all select? What resolution?
Widescreen
Is there anyway to use widescreen (16:9) pictures using mods or something in the galaxy nexus?
Cheers
I'd like to buy the HDR Camera+ app but I'm wondering something... Does the app make use of the Nexus' fast shutter? A friend told me there are fast and slow modes in the app from which the fast one doesn't work on all phones. Does it work on the Nexus? I don't think HDR on this particular phone would be worth it over stock app if it's as slow as other phones...
Would appreciate it if someone using it could tell me Thanks.
Well HDR essentially takes multiple pictures and then stitches them together. So I'm gonna say its not gonna be as fast. Besides, do you want good pictures or quick pictures?
Dude, HDR are not for taking moving objects, it's more for landscape or things that don't move.
Basically, HDR takes 3 photos and fuse them together, kind of. HDR takes a underexposed, normally exposed and over-exposed shot.

I purchased HDR+ Camera app. It used to work great. Now, either a recent update or Jelly Bean cause it to force close. It cannot take pictures. Wait, or look elsewhere for a similar app as there are several in the Play Store.

Yes I know what HDR is and how it works. I was simply asking if it's relatively faster on the Nexus than other phones that don't have shutters as fast.

I taked some photos with different app. All apps set focus on infinite or landscape.
The stock (Cybershot) and Camera360 are clearly out of focus, blurred.
^^Hmm i have tried to compare the Pictures. At the end i only watched the dogs movement.

Ismerős?
I have the same question. Does anyone else have focusing issue?
In dark/bright situations, 8 out of 10 times, my phone either cannot focus or gets out of focus.
Were these photos taken under kitkat?
I tried both Snap Camera and stock camera under JB but I can't see the differences between the photos they took, I mean both of them lose a lot of detail.
seems same here with stock KK / romaur v2.1...

Hi, didn't try any 3rd party app yet, but yes I also started to think that some photos are quite noisy and/or blurry in details with Stock and now Stock-Romaurv2.1 (KK). ----> +1
How did you get your first shot ??
The zoom of "1-Better_20140320_153735.jpg" looks amazing!
This 3rd party app I would try first.... :good:
Thanks!
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Moto E4 Plus come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Also very strange that i have no options in camera/video settings, i cant adjust resolution or other options, whihc all other phones have. Maybe im missing something?

I'm not a big user of phone cameras. I never use any settings. I just open it, take a picture, and move on. If I can take a picture of what I want, and tell what it is later, and be able to enjoy looking at it, I'm happy. This camera does it's job well. No complaints.
I'm ugly, but I took this with the e4 on lineage.

Hi,
I have same problem with poor quality pictures and discovered and installed a new app from PlayStore. It is about FreeDCam and for me it makes a huge difference when taking pictures.
Also may be opened with double click on Power button.
Wish you all best.
Hi. I have this phone. It is from a family member. I've updated it to version 113. I've rooted it. all good. but in the rear camera, the maximum resolution is 5mpx. and in the front chamber, the maximum resolution: 13mpx.
that is, the reverse of what it should be. and in addition, the photos with the rear camera are out of focus.
I will try to go back to the rom stock, because before rooting and unlocking bootloader, it was fine.
Using Global version 11.0.6.0.
I notice that the main camera, even at 1x setting, produces quite a bit of pincushion distortion at the edges. Furthermore, in 0.6x wide angle, the distortion is severe and not at all helped by turning on the correction setting.
None of the camera reviews for the RN8P mention this, so I am wondering if there is a defect in my device.
Any thoughts?

I tried it and I don't see any clear improvement over the built in app, either with distortion or with the photo quality itself. In fact the native app 64 mp mode is much clearer
I admit that I haven't bothered with using the xml file, in the past I haven't found that its worth the effort...

Only when I use the "enhanced HDR+" is there a difference, but that's like night mode where it takes a few seconds to take the shot
I saw a youtube review and comparison using this version and the stock app. The reviewer perhaps could see the difference (pixel peeping), but it was not obvious to me
