Noticed that SGN will unlock if certain apps with the 'heritage' style Menu button are open when the screen turns off.
The XDA app is one such example.
Phone can be unlocked by pressing the Menu soft button rather than using the correct Unlock Slider gesture.
I'm not currently using a pattern or face lock, so as a security issue its negligible, but has anyone else noticed a similar 'gap'?

Yes, but this only happens with slide to unlock which isn't exactly security

This had been noted before...
as joshnichols189 noted when the real security is active this doesn't unlock.
The only marginal concern is that it doesn't remain locked and your ass starts dialing
That's a good point.
Any 'true' ICS apps such as Google developed ones don't suffer from this.
Presume its a hangover for 2.x app compatability?
Back to a proper lock screen then...

The ONE reason I stayed with my Nexus for so long was for an app called PGM which was basically a kernel tweak that allowed rooted users to wake device with only a double tap or a slide, even when the screen was off. Do we have anything like that for our device?
Any kernels supporting sweep2wake?

i miss sweep to wake from my hox as well but i would say by the placement of buttons it might work as well
Hi all,
I am using CM-KangBang V3.0 for my one V. I like this rom on this rom. And on this rom i can slide 3 or 2 induction button to lock, unlock screen. But i don't know how this feature called. I tried orther rom, but with them, i can't do that. Can someone tell me how this feature called? Is there a app with this feature. Thanks!
It is a feature of the kernel, its called sweep2wake.there are plenty of apps that can lock/unlock the phone without using the power button. eg,smart screen on which unlocks/ locks with a sweep over the proximity sensor.

I recently upgraded to the LG Optimus G Pro and I love it and all, but while I'm at work when I get messages, my phone does all sorts of crazy things in my pocket because the screen comes on. I was wondering if there was a setting that I was looking over that would stop it from doing that? I'm trying not to root it because I know the bare minimum about rooting phones, but I did root my Galaxy s2 Skyrocket with youtube tutorials.

What things is it doing? I have the flip case and that keeps it from coming on and such. I think there is a pocket mode in the setting(I could be wrong about this though) check in display section or even under notifications.

Or go into the offending app that's causing you trouble and turn notifications off.

I think there are a few others who have complained about this as well. I don't have a texting plan (I use Google Voice), so I haven't ever experienced this. However, if there aren't any options in the phone settings, there may be another way.
I seem to be on this Tasker kick lately, so when someone has a problem that is related to the phone sensors or events, I tend to think "how can I fix this with Tasker?!" . As a result, I have made an app really quick using Tasker and have even included the project XML if you want to fiddle with it on your own. It does NOT require root. However, it will need you to install another free app called "Secure Settings" and give it administrator rights in your phone settings. All that the app does is wait for an incoming message and checks to see if the proximity sensor detects something in front of it. If it does, it turns the screen off. However, like I said, I don't have a texting plan, so I haven't had a chance to really test it. The app interface is just an "ON/OFF" button and a "Close" button. If it doesn't work, just turn it off or uninstall it. It is set to "OFF" when it is first installed.
Alternatively, you can play around with it if you get Tasker. I think there is still a trial period you can get if you aren't sure if you want to buy it. Let me know if it works or if you have any other questions.
I named the xml file as a .zip just to upload to xda. Just rename the file without the ".zip" at the end and then you can edit and/or import to Tasker.

This is easily fixed, just change the lockscreen to anything other than swipe and the phone will no longer accidentally become unlocked in your pocket

Uhh I had an unlock pattern set and the phone pocket dialed the police twice while I was at work cause it came on... did this work for u? I'm still looking for a fix for this lol

Had the same issue. Do a search for it. Lots of threads. Maybe try Magiclocker or Widgetlocker instead of the LG home screen.

Use pin lock. Solved for me.

Okay I just realised that there is an emergency call button on the screen when you have either pin, password or pattern unlock set. If you just have swipe, there is no emergency call button. Maybe this will help?
Hey guys, how do i take a screenshot on this device?

Volume down and power button at the time and hold them.
I tried to post a picture but since xda changed their style, it says I do not have permission to post in this forum...and that's after posting in others...

Sooo my g pro comes this saturday and i was wondering if there were any tips or tricks you guys had?
hi the lg optimus g pro has the back button on the left side but I am not a lefty so it's very invconvenient for me to reach my finger over to the left side to press back button especially on a big phone, is there a way i can switch it to the right side?
This isn't really a great one handed device anyways... I believe there are button remapping apps... If not jus use xda search... Good luck

If you're rooted, there are several xposed modules out there that you can use to remap your buttons. For example, I use gravity box.

If you're rooted, use lmt launcher.
