[Q] which is better Galaxy 19200 or Huawei mate 1 - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

I have S4 (i9500) but I need to move to a bigger display withing a limited budget. I am thinking between the Mega i9200 or the Huawei mate 1. I read the following comments
on the internet, and I wonder if someone can verify by practical usage / knowledge of both :
1- The Mate 1 , does not rotate the screen, so I can only use it in the portrait mode.
2- Although the mate has bigger and faster CPU, but the Mega is as fast.
3- The Mate uses the main button on the screen so the actual display used is less, and if you hid ethose button, you it will be difficult to find and use the back button, within an application.
If any one can help me choose, I will be very grateful.

Believe it or not, it is not available in Egypt yet. Still not sure if he has the same bug of not working in the landscape mode.

Id say wait for Mate 2 to release or order online. Mate 1 is outdated and wont get the latest firmwares and so on and end up a burden.

Hi there. I've been using the phone for about a month. (1.5GB 13mp version)
You can ask me anything about it. So far everything runs really smooth and I'm quite pleased with the camera (and quite dissappointed with the stock camera app).
What do you need to know?

Open Camera (you can find it here on XDA) and the full version of Camera FV-5. Both work well but sometimes you have to take a few shots to adjust the exposure correctly.
Thanks, will look into them, phone should arrive this week.

Hello iPp350z,
Do you test the GPS? Because i'm between K10 (K420N)and LG Zero (H650E). And on test here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/
LG H650E have little more accurate GPS.
But K10 look better
Thank you!

I'm using KingRoot and it roots just fine but I have the Snapdragon 410 version. Battery life is about a day and a half for me and I use it quite often.

Sure, no problem, I'll test it. Any specific app that you prefer? From my experience the GPS locks almost instantly and is quite accurate but I haven't done any specific tests.
Yeah, it looks way better than the H650E and it also has a bigger screen while being almost the same size. That was the main reason I bought it. The camera also takes great photos in daylight but night photos are terrible.
Well I have the t-mobile (US) version, and it has ups and downs.
UP:
1) The 1.5 GB of ram helps keep things snappy.
2) It actually received security updates. I'm. Only 2 months behind the Nexus phones, which is pretty good for a carrier branded phone.
3) Display is nicely bright.
4) SD card support
5) Removable battery.
6) $165.
DOWN:
1) 8 MP camera,
2) No USB OTG support
3) I've had 3 times where the phone audio didn't work at all. Had to reboot to get it back.
4) Screen size a little.large for me to type in landscape.
The only one I care about is the call audio issue...

VR for P8 Lite

Hello. I really want to try VR, and i wanna know if i can connect an Vr to an P8 lite . And where i can buy one?
First of all there is no VR Glasses like Oculus or Vive that you can run with an android phone like the P8 Lite. But theres a solution by google called Cardboard which is a container for your phone that you can strap around your head.
I can recommend you this one if you want a cheap solution:
https://www.amazon.de/Magic-Cardboa...UTF8&qid=1468172240&sr=1-1&keywords=cardboard
And this one is a little more stirdy:
https://www.amazon.de/Pasonomi®-Car...UTF8&qid=1468172240&sr=1-3&keywords=cardboard
There is a lot more on the internet. Just do a quick google search. You can also buy them from almost any site not just amazon.
personal opinion!

Hi, If you want just to try a VR I refer you Cardboard VR. It will cost you around 2.5 - 3$, if you buy it from Ebay. However, its not that much comfortable!
I refer ebay to buy vr online because of wide range of varity and awesome rates, just surf it out!
Ebay link from where i bought mine!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIY-Cardboa...384312?hash=item51df0ae5b8:g:nAoAAOSwpRRWn28T
it doesn't include head strips to hold vr you have to buy it separatly,

Bad idea to buy a VR since what I know about the P8lite (own one aswell) it doesn't have a gyroscope hence you won't have the same experience as with a phone which has one.

No, you can only do it by flashing, and you need to unlock the bootloader.
I bought google cardboard for this phone, tested it and it's terrible... Up/down movement is okey, but left/right is a disaster... Shaking left/right even if I stay in place

You can, however, watch VR movies or stuff like that. There is a VR player in the playstore and you can select the option to use accelerometer+compass instead of the gyroscope.
(This requires no root access btw)

All kirin 620 powered devices don't have gyroscope. It's "emulated" gyroscope, not so good by it works.
Hey guys, even if the controlling movement terrible, is the quality (display) fine? Can I watch it at least at 720p or it is extremely blurred / pixelated?

And if I dont want the 360° VR experience but just the VR "virtual screen" sorry idk how to call it, i mean the fixed view of the smartphone screen, to browse, write or work on the smartphone. Is that possible? The resolution should be more than enought no?

P2 - Worth buying?

I have some questions plz answer these -
1. Does it have 2.5 D glass
2. How good is the display i.e. are blacks deep like Samsung phones considering it has an amoled display
3. How is the build quality?Had any scratches
4. How good is development for this phone ,I mean I have Mi4 and still is well developed Can I expect these to be developed for at least 2 - 3 years.
5.Is camera that bad ?
1. No.
2. IMO yes.
3. Superb. No wiggle room anywhere.
4. TBH quite bad at the moment compared to other devices. It seems like progress is being made although very slowly. The stock ROM is decent enough to warrant using it in the meantime though.
5. It's bad. God... So bad.
The display is amazing, i didn't want to purchase another Amoled screen ever again since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but this phone is worth it.
Even though the build is great with an all metal build.. you should still get a case and screen protector to keep it shiny.
I'm sure development will get much better, there is no rush. After reading around the forums it seems the Roms are usable.. but hey.. it is a lot better than the Dev for the Zenfone Max. They have troubles with no offline charging and phone doesn't turn on when battery reach 0%, so users have to keep it above 5% in order to not semi brick it. This device don't have those bugs.. so that's good.
Also another good thing is that they have numerous Roms and am glad that they update the Lineage 13 Roms too, but Stock Rom is just as fine.
Until Lenovo fully stops updating soon; probably by September 2018.. using Custom Roms would be ideal to update when it happens. That would be my suggestion.

Hey, Thanks bro
But I think Redmi note 4 which retails as same price has many more developers and roms and much more engagement.Thats why I am a little worried to buy this. Here I saw just 2 developers doing all the work.I respect their work. But still we are here lacking kernels etc.
Do u think lenovo will continue providing updates till September 2018.I don't think so.

From a technical perspective it seems like a great device indeed. But you are correct. Moto & Redmi (I guess Huawei too) are more widely-spread. However (speaking for me and the local market) compared to the best available version of Moto G5, this phone has slightly better technical specifications (+1gb ram) for the same price.
Dude, I really hope, that I will enjoy this phone as much as my old G2 and my ancient Galaxy S. :fingers-crossed:

Night mode in August update

Many sites reported that A70 just got dedicated night mode for camera, I downloaded the update but there is still none. This should be an essential feature for 400 euro phone, all my old phones had it.
Man, you have pro mode, its better than 10 night modes. We all know that those night modes dont do a lot in any phone.

Do you really need that on a 400$ phone camera? Can you stand perfectly still 2 sec, or 10?
Are you one of those guys who brings with him 7 tripods, 11 stands and a lamp to take a picture with his mid range phone?
The phone chooses the best shutter speed for the parameters you have set.
If you need those features badly, theres a magisk mode that gives you night mode, pro mode like in a flagship and bunch of other camera funcions.
Aaand theres adobe lightroom and 10000 other softwares that will help you with the pictures.
The only bad thing i find in this cameras are the lack of hardware stabilisation, everything else is expected. After all, who will buy phones for x3 the money of this one, if this one have it all?

Questions Before I buy The Mate 20X

Hey guys... I got some question before I buy this phone:
1) Is the wifi signal since the last update good or bad?
2) Is the wifi range good?
3) Is there dark mode?
4) Can you add themes to make it look cool since the UI looks dated?
5) Any reason why I shouldnt buy this phone?
1. Wifi is good enpugh
2. There is Dark mode
3. You can ad theme
4. If you need big display than you can not find any alternative of Mate 20 X. It is the best 7.2 Inch big display phone. But if big display not must then overall best phones are made by Samsung. The only reason you shouldn’t buy mate 20 x is it software and camera is so bad. But surely interms of big display phone it is the best

Actually I am using Mate 20 X and practically I am seeing the camera is ok but not very good. Software issue mayb! May be on papers it is a excellent canera but in real-life I am not feeling it has good camer. But its ok and not bad. But samsung provide the best camera. Samsung hase no 7+ inch smartphone so I have to use Huawei Mate 20 X. Ohh, it has side which is far better than samsun, and it is it's battery backup best an unbeatable

1. Signal is better on the 310 update compared to the 300 & 208
2. Range depends on if you're using 2.4Ghz vs 5Ghz, your router and obstacles in the way; but overall range is decent
3. Yes: Settings-Battery-Darken Interface Colours
4. Yes; You can use custom launchers easily on the international model EVR-L29. I use Nova Launcher as an example.
5. Reasons to not buy this phone really depends on your preference:
- The screen is really big (7.2") so it's not for compact or thin lovers.
- It has a teardrop notch, so it's not for notch haters
- Bootloader is currently locked, so can't root for new users
- If you're in the U.S, then you have to consider the trade tension involving Huawei (It's ok now, but the situation is volatile and can change anytime)
- Mate 30 X MAY come out end of the year. So if you're willing to wait and see, the new one could be better. But then again, 30 X may not come.
Just to balance out the cons:
- Amazing battery life
- Great performance both on games and everyday use
- Great camera. I use the superwide & macro mode alot
- Huge clear display
- Decent dual speakers
