This should be in Android development forum, not original.

So what makes this ROM different from the official SlimKat ROM?
PS: I'm writing this from my N5

Probably just a typo, but it is AOSP, not ASOP.

Certain members have built their own versions of slim with certain cherry picks like Lock screen notifications or compiled with different toolchains. Regardless the builds that I assume would eventually be posted here are not original but rather variants of the original slimRom hence should not have it's own thread here but in the Android Development forum.
Having said that I suppose it would be nice to have a thread in that forum dedicated to all the different variants of slimRom that users build to keep the original thread less confusing to some members...however the slimRom thread is pretty special IMO as there is tons of information in it for even the most basic of things like setting up a Linux build environment to building from source, cherry picking, using different tool chains, etc. The nice thing about it too is you get to see the users trial and error as they post updates about their progress. So having a separate thread may lessen that, idk.

I'm pretty brand new to android porting but let me try my best to explain
We try only to use oem files for purposes of which they can't not be recreated because it's harder to try to make a proprietary file's hidden code work than modify a template file
Plus from what I have seen, there's not a lot of LG dev support for this phone yet(I cant even find the kernel source for it)
On top of that, most of the problems s listed are difficulties lie in the HAL(hardware abstraction layer)
The HAL helps hardware of the phone communicate with both the framework and the kernel
The HAL's for each component and associated file are not required by Google to be released with a phone, only it's kernel source so we don't have access to the sources for the HAL
That's just a few reasons I have found from my experiences with HTC phones I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure most of it is right though
Has anyone flashed this yet? Would like tknoif it has theme chooser
No I have not

Hey Guys,
heres what flar2 cant do.
Heres my KERNEL!!!
HERE IT IS!!!
Im 16 but I am able to build PERFECTION. IN MY MIND. AND I CAN MAKE MY IDEAS WORK!!!
Otherwise I will base it on HellsCore-Kernel. Hes nicer m8.
So now that we got him (flar2) out of the way xD. No Scoped.

BEST_BATTERY (for real)
CPU_OC_OPEN_END
GPU_OC_OPEN_END
CPU_V_OPEN_END
GPU_V_OPEN_END
I WILL DO THAT!!

I'm kinda okay with the kernel, but wrong placement for the thread (should be in Android Development, not Original Android Development) and the messy first post is bugging me. Just saying (this is my opinion only)
Placeholder threads are not allowed ,not in Original Development or in Development section.

No offense but you're the 3rd one to release a rom that has the exact same source as the original CM13 thread, and all others have been shutted down. You should invest your time helping the main branch fixing their stuff instead of dividing everybody. Releasing a ROM that is exactly the same with a different name is a total lack of respect to those who really worked hard to make this happen, plus your sources are not even public :/

I have no sources. I have published the link to the kernel source. Every Rom is based off CM tree and it is not the same. Its SLIM.

I'm pretty sure it's an XDA rule to publish the source of every rom/kernel. Otherwise it could contain malware/keylogger or could be fake. I took a look at SLIM's github and i didn't see anything related to the S6.
Dude you dont get it. According to XDA you should publish a source for the kernel and I did. Go ahead with the link I posted and it will direct you to the kernel source. It is not necessary that the kernel should belong to Slim.
I see no official source on your GitHub. Is this just a rebrand of CM 13 for S6?
Nevermind keep it coming

Dude, I used Slim rom sources and this device kernel and vendor tree and built the rom. There is no need for sources in my github. And Slim and CM are different. I am not just rebranding. I am building this from source.

The only source required to be posted by GPLv2 and XDA requirements is kernel source. Also Slim and CM both have posted open permissions to build.

P600 active development?

Hi,
Are there any roms for P600 that has any active development as of now ?
Atm I only see a lot of abandoned roms.
If there are none active then what stable Rom has some kind of Rom control that allows me to tweak the Rom and add custom colors to notification bar ?
I hear you loud and clear, mate. I've been happily eating up all that the geniuses og XDA have to offer. I've tested and adopted everything for our smp600 tabs since Temesek's offerings. Of the four ROMS that were still being actively supported, I liked the Resurrection Remix for it's wide range of customizability. But, with three tabs, I wanted something that worked for all, and that one was too easily crashed too often. I'm currently running the Paranoid Android ROM which seemed to be a great step forward in stability, and it still fully supports the s-pen. There is an Oreo beta release here, but it is not stable enough for daily use and it did not load when I tested it.
I'm no programmer or developer, so I have no idea what these guys have to deal with for results, but I am all for the bunch of doing "whatever" is needed to let them knowthey are appreciated and still needed. Good luck with your testing, too. ;-DeanoD

Well if you read his posts he clearly says he's working on kernel only so he hasn't changed anything in Rom other then add an updated kernel.
Edit : forgot to mention his changelog for the Rom hasn't changed since last year...

The RR dev is currently active, in fact, I recommend it if you're looking for the most stable/active ROM here. On his recent posts, he says he's made a new kernel but that doesn't mean it's the only thing he's working on.
You might have looked at the RR changelogs, but RR for Nougat has stopped development because they have already shifted to working on Oreo. If you look at the link below that "My Changelog", it shows he's still actively updating it. Either way, even if the kernel is the only thing recently updated, it is still a very important part of development.
As for changing colors, if you mean the status bar, I haven't seen one that does that. But if you're talking about the notification panel you can search for substratum themes on the play store that let you change the colors or even the icons of the panel.

I am on his Rom now and have been for a while just been trying other roms lately.
I found the MM TW Rom to be most stable even tho dev stopped
If you look in Rom controls in RR then you will find a ton of options and none for changing the status bar text colours well there are options but they don't work.
I am looking a a similar Rom to Hyperdrive with it's Rom control options the would change alot of stuff which would make the Rom look fantastic with any kind of theme.
Sadly that will not happen anymore as all developers have moved on to newer devices and the very few left have other models then P600 and those few ones are not interested in how nice they can make the Rom look.as I am fully aware of what goes on here on XDA my main question was aimed on other websites then XDA in case someone had stumbled upon a development website other then XDA.
I know there are a few developers from the good old days that got sick of the Rambo moderators here on XDA nitpicking on developers and moved to other websites to release their roms.
Example the note 3 Rom developer that created Xnote which was a Rom unmatched by any other left XDA but I never found out what website he left for.
There are many more like him and I am sure someone out there has a note 10.1 2014 p600 with an awesome Rom just waiting for me to find hehe.

[TAIMEN/WALLEYE][9.0.0/10/R][4.4.222] Caesium Kernel v4.16

Caesium kernel is made with a focus on improving battery life without bloating the kernel with extra cpufreq governors, I/O schedulers and the like, providing a lean package that just works.
This is a continuation of the now EOL Flash Kernel. If you've been using Flash, not much changes for you! New place to download from aside, things will stay the same.
For the full feature list, refer to @nathanchance's OP for Flash Kernel, I've enlisted the changes below.
Built with latest GCC 10 branch and with Link Time Optimization enabled.
Up to date with the April security patch (android-10.0.0_r0.50) and R DP 3 release (android-r-preview-3_r0.1)

Folder structure
alpha: Very likely broken or contains highly experimental patches; should only be run if you want to be a part of cutting edge development
beta: Normal testing build; bootable and has no immediate issue.
stable: Same as beta but has had no issues for at least three days. If you are unsure which one to run, just use this one.
archive: Old stable kernels

What's the point? Everybody should know at this point that kernels are unified so what forum a thread is posted in does not matter.
