Hi Guys,
I purchased HTC one M8 in Malaysia. It supports following 4G frequencies.
LTE 700 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600
Now I am shifted to India. Here it supports 4G LTE 2300 MHz only.
I already got 4.4.3 update.
I need assistance in knowing if Indian 4G will work in my phone? (As I think all Asian models are internally same)
What should I do to get Indian 4G on my phone?
Thanks in advanced

In India, 4G service is very limited. Only a few carriers have adopted the service. Most carriers have no plans as of now. A few smartphones actually support 4G/LTE . Most of what they call 4G, just supports the Dongles.
Well, since you want 4G/LTE support on your device, you could S-OFF, and flash an Indian Radio. Correct me if I'm wrong, I think flashing an Indian rom would get your job done, since the device does have the 4G/LTE hardware. :good:

Hi,
I've been reading these forums for a few weeks in anticipation of getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and am still confused(especially with the news about each version of the phone being region-locked).
My intention is to use the phone here in the United States on T-Mobile and also in Philippines(via a local SIM card purchased there). I've heard that the International version(N9005) only supports 2G(Edge) on T-Mobile here in the United States. Does that version support all bands(2G, 3G, 4G, 4G LTE, etc.) in Philippines?
Does anyone know if the T-Mobile unlocked version of the phone will also support the same bands used in Philippines when I take it there?
Because it seems in my case it might be better to get the T-Mobile unlocked version of the phone so I could possibly still use it in Philippines at their maximum available speed in addition to being able to use the maximum speeds on T-Mobile's network here in the U.S.
Also, are there any specific pros and cons with each of the two versions of the phone?
Any info would be very appreciated.

Here's what I know about Philippines (source):
2G capabilities GSM 900, GSM 1800
3G capabilities UMTS 850, UMTS 2100
4G capabilities LTE 850, LTE 1800, LTE 2100
[Info from your link]
2G capabilities GSM 900, GSM 1800
3G capabilities UMTS 850, UMTS 2100
4G capabilities LTE 850, LTE 1800, LTE 2100
Thank you for your response and the helpful link. It looks like both the International(N9005) and T-Mobile unlocked versions of the phone will support both of the 2G and 3G bands. For the 4g band, the respective phone covers the following Philippines 4g bands:
International(N9005) version: LTE 1800, 2100
unlocked T-Mobile version: LTE 2100
What I'm wondering is if it will be possible to use the unlocked T-Mobile version of the Note 3 in Philippines using a local sim purchased there? If so, then it seems like it will be more beneficial to purchase that version of the phone since it will allow me faster speeds(4g) while here in the United States while also allowing me to use their LTE2100 band for 4g speeds.
Thanks for any insight you can provide me.

Definitely T-Mobile version unlocked.
Not just it has penta-HSPA, but you can use wifi calling with T-Mobile SIM attached to keep using your US number under wifi mode (and save you from roaming).
Do you guys know, if the unlocked t mobile version will allow us to use it with local SIM card when we are travelling oversea?
Hello everyone,
I just got my LG G3 today and I'm encountering an issue getting 4G LTE on my D855 (international version) on the T-Mobile US network. I looked around and searched the forums to find a solution to this 4G LTE problem specific to this phone. I tried going into the hidden menu (3485#*855#) and changing the bands and such, nothing works. I haven't rooted my phone or flashed anything yet, as I haven't found any tutorial in which doing so would resolve this issue for this specific model.
I do get HSPA on it, which gives me about 7mbps, much slower than I anticipated.
Does it mean that I won't get 4G LTE at all? I will be in Hong Kong for a few months and was wondering if I would get 4G LTE there on T-Mobile using this phone since it's the international version and they do offer 4G LTE over there. Anyone know if it works over there?
If there are no solutions, I might just sell the phone and get a different model that works.
I'm located in Southern California if that helps anyone.
@darkelfx, you need to check which LTE bands that model runs off of, and see if T-Mobile uses those. I work for tmo, and we did a lot of work on our network to make it more compatible with unlocked devices, however, I know that since there is a difference in the bands att uses, their devices do not pick up our LTE 90% of the time. They get HSPA+, just like you do.
These are the bands being used and my version is the international version (not the AT&T version).
2G Network: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network: HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network: LTE 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600
I do not get HSDPA+, I get the slower 3G speed, which is HSDPA.

for 3g you need to have 1700mhz as well
for 4g they use a combo 1700/2100 or AWS is the nickname.
Sorry to say but the D855 is NOT compatible with any U.S. LTE bands.

Yeah, I found this out as well researching the G3 before buying any of the variants for use on Tmo. None of the variants, outside of the 851, will work on Tmo's LTE. You'll get voice and 3G (HSPA), but not LTE connections with TMo.
As for getting LTE in HK, it won't be on Tmo's network, as Tmo does not have any networks in HK. You might get data roaming and all, but I haven't looked too much into that as I don't do much international travel. You would connect under a roaming partner there, if there are any under agreement.
Or you could swap in another SIM for use in HK.
This worked for me.
I had exactly the same problem.
Watch this video on YouTube for the G2, follow the instructions and it will work.

Hi, I use LG G3 D855 and looking for solution to get LTE on T-Mobile USA. After some research inside the forum, I decided to try to use CyanogenMod (CM 12.1) on my system.
It works well and now I can enjoy LTE on T-Mobile network, even though not pretty stable yet, but I am good with that since the OS still ongoing development.
You can try to download the OS on Cyanogen official website, and use the latest update available.
In order to confirm if you get LTE signal, beside check on your LTE sign, you can use LTE Discovery apps whenever you lost LTE connection and try to reconnect on an LTE signal.
Oh, forgot to mention, I am located in College Station, TX.
Hi everyone
Today i just picked up an Unlocked HTC One M8 verizon branded
I took the phone to my carrier AT&T picked up a nano card, left AT&T and installed
I was able to receive calls and text and also call out and text
My internet is not working no 4G LTE. I went back to to AT&T and they told me it will not work with AT&T
When i swapped phones, data plan checked out ok. They installed the right one from my previous phone. AT&T shows up on the phone as the provider
Is there something i am missing that ATT would not tell me about getting internet? Is there a tutorial someone can link me to?
Thanks

APN settings would need to be changed. If I were you I'd just look into getting s-off and flashing a custom rom
Verizon's phones use CDMA, and have different radios than AT&T, which uses GSM phones. While both have LTE support, unfortunately the supported bands don't perfectly overlap:
Verizon / CDMA
LTE 750 / 1700 / 1800 / 2600
WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
CDMA 800 / 850 / 1900

That AT&T rep wasn't kidding. While the phone may work in a limited manner in some areas, it doesn't fully support AT&T's network.

Unfortunately, the short answer is yes. The slightly longer answer is that it will "sorta work", as long as you are in an area whose towers your phone will work with. I'd sell it and get the GSM version if you are sticking with AT&T.
The phone should work on 3G (WCDMA) as AT&T uses 850 and 1900 MHz bands, which according to the above listed band specs, is supported by the Verizon variant. You will need to manually enter the proper APN info.
Whether LTE will work is questionable. AT&T uses 1700 Blocks A, B, C, D, E; and additionally 1900 (Bands 2, 4, and 17). Verizon uses 1700 Blocks C and F (bands 4 and 13). And its not clear to me what Blocks on 1700 are supported by the Verizon variant. As mentioned above, it might work in certain AT&T regions, but not in others. But again, you will need the proper APN regardless.

Lesson learned: You need to do the proper research before buying a phone from any source other than your carrier in order to guarantee proper band compatibility.
Hiya, fellas,
I want to know what is the hardware difference between the LS990 and the international D855 version of the LG G3.
I live in India and I have a good offer for the G3 (LS990) I'm aware that the phone can be unlocked to use international GSM and 3G but not 4G. Apart from that are there any other differences? Can I still flash roms made for the international model, D855 onto mine (whence it comes) or must I solemnly stick to the Sprint Android Development thread? Also if there are any other problems that I could possibly encounter?
Your answers will be much appreciated and thanked.:good:
I think there are memory partition, forgot stock Rom kdz or tot files, we wait for bump'd kernel or bumping tool to do that, I installed androidnow hd which is made for D855 on vs985 Verizon it run but without incall sound, must wait more

Here are a few things you need to consider before you make that deal . This is based on my experience with the LS980 (LG G2)
1. How good is the deal ?
2. Could it be refurbished part from Sprint ?
3. Does it have a Clean ESN , IMEI ? Or is it a cracked one ? If it does not have a Clean ESN / IMEI number , please be very cautious, if you do flash a rom and something messes up a particular partition you may have a very hard time fixing the IMEI / ESN numbers (This is NOT legal if you are using a device with hacked IMEI. )
4. You Will not get SW / OTA updates directly from sprint if your IMEI is blacklisted (I think , I cannot confirm ) . Even if you do you will have to hunt for an unlock again.(until a permanent unlock is found)
5. You cannot use the default International D855 roms on the LS990 , apart from the modem there may be other slight variations, so international stock roms wont work.
6. You can use any custom rom which supports LS990.
7. Even if everything else is ok , you may not have a good user experience with calls and data , as the FW , may not change seamlessly between GSM , EDGE , CDMA (3G) these and you may find your self running into signal issues due to this .
My advise is, if the deal is a huge money saver then think of it , else buy a D855 and enjoy the freedom of OTAs. Custom Roms , 2G , 3G , 4G when needed with 100% clean IMEI.
Thats my 2 cents .
@ kryptonite, thank you for the detailed information. I'm very grateful and many thanks once again.
1. The D855 costs about $680 (USD) and this deal was priced at $475 on eBay India.
2,3. I have no idea if it is refurbished by Sprint but it's an unused item.
And for the rest, yes, you're right. I wouldn't want to go through all the trouble if I'd have problems with the basic stuff such as antenna or 3G.
I think it's better that I rather buy the 16 gigs variant which is cheaper and stay happy with it. After your informative reply and suggestion I definitely wouldn't like to have that chicken sit on my head for there is too much to compromise if I wouldn't get any updates or even flashing roms. I dn't want to have an expensive brick sitting home. You just saved my @$$. Thank you very much!
Best,
superviked.
@superviked that is a good decision. If you look at it although you save $200, if you don't have a good experience with the phone you would have wasted $475.
However there has been a rising trend of folks selling phones on ebay without clarity on the exact state. So need to ask the questions and buy from a trusted seller.
I wouldn't recommend the LS990 or any CDMA phone for use in India (Unless you use Reliance , and even here there is a lot of tweaking that need to be done to get a good user experience. )
Here is a priority list of G3 phone models that you could consider based on availability and network support.
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - D855
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - D850
HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - D851
4G Network LTE 700 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 - D851
LTE 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 - D855

1. D855 16 GB /2GB RAM ( or 32GB /3GB Ram) - As you suggested , makes most sense , for a hassle free buy and 0 head aches of all issues you may face from a NON International version.
As you can see the green is the D855, its the only version that supports 2300 Mhz band for LTE and this is the band that is available in India. No other model supports this Band including the LS990. Infact 99 % of phones in India still don't support the 2300Mhz band ,so the D855 is a good choice in terms of using LTE without any hassles in India. So even if you do get a locked version of the D855 it would be worth considering it as the benefits of a good price always help.
2. D851 , you would have to unlock this , and you may have trouble with OTAs , but it should work for 2G / 3G without any issues (In India 3G frequencies are 3G 1900/2100 ). You will however not get LTE support in India (because the modem in this model DONT support the 2300 MHz band in HW)
3. D850, you would have to unlock this , and you may have trouble with OTAs , but it should work for 2G / 3G without any issues (In India 3G frequencies are 3G 1900/2100 ). . You will however not get LTE support in India (because the modem in this model DONT support the 2300 MHz band in HW)
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - VS985, LS990
CDMA 800 / 1900 - VS985
3G Network CDMA2000 1xEV-DO - VS985
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - LS990
4G Network LTE 700 / 1700 / 2100 - VS985
LTE 850 / 1900 / 2500 - LS990

4. Don't bother about LS990 (Sprint) VS990 (Verizon), these are CDMA versions and the hassles you will go though (user experience wise in terms of seemless switching between GSM, 3G towers in India etc, although the 3G band is fully supported) are not worth the mark down in price. Infact this is one reason why these phones sell at much lower costs in India.
From a FW perspective 95 % of the firmware is common to all these G3 models , but what differentiates these are the modems and hence even if you flash a D855 Stock FW to any of the other versions , it may boot up but the modem will not function and its of course not recommended as it may also damage the modem .
I have bought the ls990 and i dont nothing about it can i know where to find some good info about how to unlock the carrier 3g and 4g in my country and can i update it to marshmallow without the need to root and one last thing how i can know if my IMEL is hacked or not pleeease help me
My cousin just moved from Asia to Canada and wanted to use his HTC One M8 on wind
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_(m8)-6074.php
based on the my information wind needs 1700/2100 bands for 3g but dose that mean the phone would need both? It seems to have the 2100 band but not the 1700 band. Is this a software restriction that I can get around by flashing the t-mobile firmware? Is the phone having just the 2100 band enough?
Thanks for any help in advance

Yeah, that will work on Wind with no issues. AWS (something you probably saw when checking on Google) means 1700/2100, and that is something that Wind supports.
