Hi I have a rooted LG G3 tmo version.
Is there a way to disable the auto-dim function that my phone uses after 30 secs (or so) of being on full brightness?
Basically, I have a tasker profile set up to do various things when I plug my phone in at work. It turns off auto-dim, sets brightness to full, and sets the display timeout to never (max/max/max). However, the phone still auto-dims after 30 seconds or so. I've heard that this may be some kind of overheat protection, but does anyone know how to turn this off?
Thanks in advance.
Did you check display settings??

Hmm... that seemed to work. Do you know why the tasker Task : Display Timeout secs* mins* hours* did not change that setting?

That would be a good question to ask the developer of Tasker.

I think you have automatic brightness turned on. Go to Settings -> Display -> Brightness. Uncheck Automatic brightness.

Its a problem with the auto bright and the polling interval. its just not doing smooth transitions. Work in the settings to get it to smooth out. i used to have this issue, dont remember exactly how i fixed it though.
Are you doing anything with the special settings under automatic backlight in CMsettings? or just using the auto brightness in the regular Android settings? I'm using no special stuff in CMsettings and mine works fine.

Not regular android, thats MIUI but setting are default(mean auto brightness and all animation) and also now at low power orange LED is always on likes its charging...
I' ve got a strange problem: regardless of any brightness settings, my phone dims down the brightness after 30 seconds. When I touch the screen it goes back to normal, but after 30 seconds it dims down again. It's annoying. Anyone got a solution for that ???
TIA
tonox
This is normal behavior when autobrightnes is disabled.
o.k. - but I got this behavior with auto-brightness on !

settings - display - sleep is "never go to sleep"
and still I got this annoying dim-down ...
That is also normal HTC behaviour.
The screen will stay on, but it will dim regardless of your time-out setting.

thx for the info.
Is there any workaround you are aware of ?

No, not that I'm aware off.
Even with Tasker, the screen will stay on, but it will dim...

You might want to try Screebl from the play store.
Hi,
how can I get rid of the automatic dimming of the display after 15 or 30 seconds even the Z1c is charging?
It is very annoying at least for me.
Go to Settings/Display then change 'sleep time' option
Also, go to Settings/Developer options and enable 'stay awake' option for phone to stay awake while charging

Thanks but that was not the expected answer
If the phone is charging the display gets darker after 15 or 30 seconds. This annoying for me.

What do you want to do?
The 'sleep time' option changes the dimming settings from 30 seconds to 30 minutes?

Anyone else notice that after turning the screen on it dims a little after a few seconds. I don't have auto brightness on.

It could be the thermal control kicking in.
To see if it is, when it does reduce the brightness, try to up it again with the slide control, if it's the thermal throttling, it'll say it won't because of the phone's temperature.

Most probably is because the CPU will be used a lot when starting.

What do you have your "Screen timeout" set to under Settings > Display? Mine usually dims a few seconds before turning off the screen. If you have a short timeout then it would dim very quickly.
I have screen off set at 1minute...tried raising brightness after dimming and it let me go to 100%...it is super annoying!

I found that if you hold the power button down it will keep the screen on until you release it.. but it would be nice to change the default screen timeout.
Has anybody found a way to do this yet?

Hmm.. guess it cant be done. Or maybe i' m the only one that wants a longer screen time
I use "Swipify" to set my screen to "always on" when I want it, but I don't know of any other way of setting the screen to timeout any slower.
This would be a nice option. I am constantly flipping my wrist to see time and other items. I would like even just 30 seconds.

If you use a watch face app like watchmake it has screen timeout settings like swipify does

Most of watchface from Smartwatch Bureaux Axx, Fxx, Vxx have a setup for time before go to dim mode.
