[HELP] LG G3 problems - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just got my new LG G3 around 5 hours ago.
I've just placed the phone charger using the included 1.8amp charger and i get a message saying slow charging in the notification bar.
I also see my phone drains the battery very quickly, although the screen brigthness is at 30%
Can someone help me?

Try a factory reset. If that does not work bring it straight back and get a replacement.

Im still on the V10g version.
Could that be due to that version?
Its the latest available tho

No you should not be getting the slow charge on any version of the software. You either have a defective charger, battery, USB cable or phone.

LG G2 LS980 Not Charging

I recently bought an LG G2 LS980 on eBay, but when I receive it I noticed that when i put on charge appear in the lock screen "Charging" but never increase the %.. and if I go to the Battery Settings it said "Not Charging" I want to buy a replacement part but I don't know if the problem is the battery or the USB charge port flex..
I would not want to buy both, does any one have any idea of what could be..
I try to charge with different USB cables at least 3, different wall charger (4) even with an external battery, and nothing.. connect to the energy only helps to avoid battery droping but not charge..
Return it unless that was in the description. You will definitely win if you open a case in the resolution center.

Quick charge 2.0 broken on my phone

So I've had my G4 since June 4th and while quick charge 2.0 was slower than I expected and tended to slow down to speed's lower than wireless charging while using it, it still worked and still charged faster than the stock charger and amphere showed those results. That was until Friday. Ever since then sometimes it will charge other times it stops all together until you plug it in again. Originally thought this was connected to my wireless charging sticker that I put on the same day, however I've since gone back to the stock NFC sticker and it had no effect on my problem. Also my anker charger led turns green when a qc device is detected and its been turning blue again. I can understand stopping momentarily to let the battery cool down but it's stopping all together until I unplug and plug it in again. If I plug it in at 80% and leave it for an hour it'll be at 79% when I go get it. Really frustrating, almost like the qc chip is fried.
I've tried 2 qc chargers with multiple cables all coming up the same results. Anyone have any more ideas? Should I just send this back to at&t and swap it out?

It could also be a software issue. I know they didn't plan on implementing qc but they ended up doing it last minute and we all know how that ends up. If you can't wait for updates maybe try taking it back. Or trying the cords on other g4's if at all available just to double check it's not them.

Really makes no sense just started doing this stuff on Friday. Before that, it was fine

I'd install Battery Monitor Widget and run that for a while, including when charging. That will let you monitor charge current even with the screen off, over time. It will also show battery temperature.
Reboot, of course, if you haven't. I'd also bring up the app-switcher screen (square button) and do Clear All, and see if that helps.
Well uninstalled amphere, and gsam, and disabled my persistent notification from my weather app and it worked this time. Life stayed green on the anker quick charger and charged from 62% to 100 in a half hour with no issues, but not sure if it was a fluke or if one of the afformentioned apps was causing a problem

Glad to report I found the source. My persistent weather notification constantly pinging the location service. Quick charge is working again, thank god. Hate dealing with a warranty claim

anyone have a slow charging ?

im running ARHD 12.0 [Android 5.1] and facing 340ma charging, around 3-4 hr until full
anyone have the same problem ?
before i use this rom (running stock rom) i also have this problem.
I feel like it takes the phone a little to "set up." When I first got the phone it took forever to charge, now it does it fine within 2-3 hours. I plug it in and I see it charges decently fast. When I first got the phone it was really bad at charging though, I really was about to send it back.
Make sure you use a genuine charger. htc or samsung chargers seem to work fine.
An under powered charger will cause the phone to whinge incessantly about low charging power, refuse to swutch off the screen and waste power like its going out of fashion.
Htc logic.. Something not to be desired..

Old thread I know but most relevant I could quickly find.
Using standard charger included with M9 I could charge from 0 to full in about an hour and a half to 2 hours maximum. Lately, it now is taking 9 to 13 hours with the same charger and cable. Have swapped out cable, no improvement.
On stock, no root, TMO, firmware 2.11.531.19. Charging with unit off, in recovery or bootloader makes no difference.
Any ideas?
Turn the device off and charge it. If it charges in the correct amount of time then you can assume you charger is good but the phone is demanding too much power.

I had problems with charging recently. Very obvious fluctuations in charging and not charging to 100%. The problem was lint in the micro USB. Search YouTube videos on how to safely clean them. It has to be worth trying.
Depends, I've had bum adapters before. Had the same issue with my old Note 3 using it's included adapter. I switched to a different one I had (an LG one) and it charged fine afterwards.
My issues were solved by the marshmallow update.

That solved it, thanks!

Dead LG G4 (not rooted) won't turn on, no charging light

So i had the G4 in my pocket and i do not remember how much charge it had on it at the time. I was working at the computer for a couple hours and when i pulled my phone out it was off. I plugged in my cord and the LED did not turn on so I waited a minute. Nothing. Tried a different cord, waited a minute. Nothing. Tried another cord connected to a battery pack. Nothing. Tried another cord on a different power source and still nothing.
Phone is stock, no root, no rom no reccent drops or other issues. It does seem to take a charge because the battery pack that i had connected for an hour did go from 64% to 40%
Sprint LG G4 if that matters. By nothing I mean no logo screen nothing on screen, no response like there is no battery at all.

Seems to be hardware related maybe it is the ilapo even when it not bootloops. Nevertheless send it to repair but it would try the freezer method first to backup data if possible.

Leave it on charger ,maybe it will start booting when it detects 100% battery.probably,it won't fully boot,it will stay at never-ending boot.Faulty motherboard.

Your problem is you need a new battery
Agreed with above. Your battery is almost dead. Get a new battery.
My Galaxy Note 1 was like this.
Lg g4 h810
Hello, I already opened my lg g4 h810 charge the battery directly because when measuring it gave me a very low voltage and it tells me a correct measurement. disarm the equipment I made him reballing with a homemade iron for about 3 minutes but nothing. Charging battery mod while attached to phone.

So I noticed my battery mod doesn't charge when attached to my phone and the phone reaches 100% the mod just says waiting for phone to charge and it never switches to charging mod unless I unplug the charger and plug it back in. It's damn annoying having to use to chargers over night one for the mod and one for the phone.
IIRC when I bought the phone and mod it used to charge the mod once the phone was fully charged withouth having to unplug the charger and plugging it back in.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Are you bootloader unlocked? Do you run any custom kernel/rom? What carrier? What firmware version? Did the motomods app update? These all would be helpful in finding out what the issue is.
Im with Verizon and completely stock and locked. I just get the OTA updates from verizon. I haven't messed with unlocking phones since the Evo 4g from Sprint. I'm far behind lol

Use the turbo charger from the devices box

Yes, this. You need to be "quick charging." I forgot the crappy code Moto/Lenovo did in the kernel.
I use the one that came in the phone with the box and it still does it. So I bought another Verizon charger to charge the phone while the stock one to charge the mod. [emoji848][emoji848]
Anything that could be causing this?

This is really weird, since when you are turbo charging it should charge internally & mod batteries together and not even wait for first one to be completed...
Yes at first it would charge both at once. Now it just charges the phone while the mod says waiting for phone to charge and once the phone reaches 100% it doesn't switch to charging mod unless I unplug and plug again. Maybe I should call Verizon but the call centers and the reps are all incompetent.

I've been having the same issue since updating to Oreo. Moto Z2 Force, T-Mobile, stock/locked/OTA. Luckily the battery mod I have has its own port, and plugging that in will also charge the phone (though it's annoying because I have to remove the bumper case to get at that port).
I've also noticed a few other annoyances since updating to Oreo. The projector mod no longer appears as having a battery (I guess its internal battery is now only used for the projector itself? either way, I can't every see its battery level). The Moto Mod tile in the notification panel no longer shows battery percent when a battery mod is connected.
Wondering this too my last z2 I never could get the projector to charge while charging the phone Even though many say it does .. then I asked welll why the independent charge port on the mod itself ...
They projector mod dies rather quick...

some of the mods only charge with their built in ports, i came across one, i forgot the brand, but i returned it. make sure yours is made to charge through the phone. i think mine was missing pins on the side that touches the phone, my current one isn't misising any pins and it charges through the phone
