Very long boot time - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a problem with my htc one m8. I had Revolution rom running, without any problems.
Then i flashed insertcoin but it was not booting, but got stuck on white boot screen.
So i flashed stock recovery and stock rom, and it does boot now, but it takes over 5 minutes loading on the white boot screen before it starts.
I did s-off now, and flashed again flashed insertcoin rom.
This time, it does boot finally , but also after a very long time showing the boot screen.
What could this be?

Hey!
In my experience this is usually down to the firmware on your phone not being the same as the base of the ROM.
For example when I tried to load ViperONE M8 it had long boot times. This was because I hand 4.4.2 while the ROM was based on 4.4.3
Please check this and see.

You flashed a 4.4.3 ROM when your firmware is still on 1.54 base which is for 4.4.2 ROMs. Since you got s-off check the guides on how to upgrade firmware and you will be good to go.

This has been discussed in 2 other threads today alone, along with a link to the solution.

plus, I've read about 50 posts from folks freaking out about this same issue over the last few days..
you gotta read and learn what you are doing BEFORE you go flashing stuff on your 700 dollar "toy"

Custom splashscreen has slowed down boot proces?

Hello.
After i updated the splashscreen (splash1) of my desire after s-off by alpharev and after flashing the oxygen boot table, my desire has become very slow in booting.
Via youtube a non-rooted desire typically takes 40 seconds to boot.
In my case the costum splash screen i have flashed(via fastboot) just stays on for ~1,7minutes before entereing the OS.
Also I think that its strange that i dont longer have a boot animation, and that the splash screen is on for so long time.
I use oxygen 2.0.1 but that shouldn't really matter, and I use clocworkmod 2.5.1.7-alpharev version.
Yes, I have the same problem. After I s-offed, I flashed another splash screen and installed the Leedroid rom. The desire stays on the splash screen for a about 1.5 MINUETS at the splash screen and another 30 seconds for the boot animation.
After that I had flashed my Hboot to CM7r2 and flash Reflex gingerbread rom, the problem still exist. Besides that, I have tried both Clockwork and RA recovery, still, takes me TWO minutes to boot up
So, it should not relates to HBOOT, ROM nor recovery..... really confusing...

T-Mobile G2 (HTC DZ) CM7, CWM (Blue), cannot boot into recovery.

Title says it all. I can't boot into recovery. I can't do it from the rom, I can't do it from the bootloader. It seems like it's borked for some reason. I booted into recover 5 days ago to flash back to CM7 from an ICS rom.
As of now, it just hangs on the initial splash screen. Been hanging 45 minutes so far and no sign of stopping.
Try flashing recovery again ?

[Q] Desire HD almost dead (only boots to fastboot). Any way to S-ON?

I had a Desire HD for a year. I just started rooting and using custom roms three months ago.
A few days ago, when I got the phone from charging, I found it frozen. I restarted it to get a looping "force close" for almost all processes. I restarted it again to the same result; the third time I restarted the phone emited 7 short vibrations just after powering it, and after some time in the initial HTC logo it froze in a black screen.
I tried to reflash my last custom rom I used, so I booted to ClockworkMod recovery and tried to reinstall the last ZIP file I kept on my SD card from last time, it installed ok, but then I got the exact same scenario: 7 vibrations, HTC logo, black screen of death.
Later, I tried to flash another custom rom, but now I can't boot to recovery. It does the exact same thing as trying to do a standard boot.
So now I'm stuck in Fastboot. I tried flashing a stock rom (downloaded the lastest official RUU), but while it seems to flash it ok, it still hangs the same. I also tried to flash copying the ROM.ZIP file from the RUU to the root of the SDCARD as PD98IMG.ZIP, but while it also seems to flash the ROM ok, it still fails to boot.
This is what I discovered (Googling):
-The 7 vibrations means bad CPU. What I don't understand is why fastboot works perfectly without any hang but can't boot even in recovery mode.
-I can't use my warranty while the phone is ENG S-OFF.
I think I succeeded to flash a stock ROM, so now the only thing that keeps me to carry my phone to fix is the ENG S-OFF. Is there a way to set ENG S-ON while in fastboot?

Ive had multiple vibrations thats when i was deving on something (unreleased)
Take out battery for 30mins then put it back n try recovery mode again, make sure you install a custom rom again after full wiping
EDIT: flashing stock ruu should s-on, then redo s-off that should fix it afaik

I already did this (not intentionally). It doesn't change anything.

If flashing stock RUU should s-on, then the flashes I tried didn't complete. I guess the flash finishes after the first boot, but as the phone hangs before booting, no flash is done?
Anyway, if this helps somehow, this is what shows my fastboot:
ACE PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.2007 (PD9810000)
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.13.04.19_M

[Q] One X Stuck on boot

Good evening everyone,
I've been scanning the forums and everyone's problems seems a little different. First of all, i was running CM10 and missed some of the sense features, so i jumped to ViperX.
1. Everything seemed fine on first run, got the snakey tail, but then i noticed it was hanging just after this with the "Htc quietly brilliant" screen and snakey long gone!
2. So i reboot my phone, this time, it just hung on the first start screen and never so much as flinched.
3. I booted into recovery (CWM) and couldn't even get there, it was like a blink of the recovery screen and then it vanished and rebooted, I wiped everything clean by doing a factory reset and tried to reboot again. Same result.
4, Flashed TWRP and managed to get into recovery mode and install ViperX again but on reboot I'm stick at that same ol' "quietly brilliant" screen, this time with no snakey.
I can get into hboot to use fastboot and into recovery in TWRP but cannot get into the OS. I'm not clear as to whether this is a problem with hboot or the way the rom is installed but any suggestions or such about how i've gone about things and how to go about getting around this problem would be great! Gracias! :good:
Did you flash the correct boot.img?

Strangely, and by the luck of trial and error, I tried 2 boot images. The first was for CM10 (again, this was trial and error) and now i've just rebooted from the ViperX one and managed to get back in. Back up in progress! Phewww!!!!
You get my thanks for replying anyhow!

[Q] HTC One X won't boot?

My phone was working fine but then it kept getting an error saying "android.process.acore has stopped working". When i rebooted it fixed for a while. But i rebooted and now it won't boot.
i have tried everything. I flashed a new rom, boot, recovery but nothing. i even tried to switch to the new layout but nothing, i just get the htc screen and it reboots.
i flashed SlimBean and now it gets past htc screen and get to slimbean boot screen for a second and reboots.
Any advice?
