Good evening everyone,
I've been scanning the forums and everyone's problems seems a little different. First of all, i was running CM10 and missed some of the sense features, so i jumped to ViperX.
1. Everything seemed fine on first run, got the snakey tail, but then i noticed it was hanging just after this with the "Htc quietly brilliant" screen and snakey long gone!
2. So i reboot my phone, this time, it just hung on the first start screen and never so much as flinched.
3. I booted into recovery (CWM) and couldn't even get there, it was like a blink of the recovery screen and then it vanished and rebooted, I wiped everything clean by doing a factory reset and tried to reboot again. Same result.
4, Flashed TWRP and managed to get into recovery mode and install ViperX again but on reboot I'm stick at that same ol' "quietly brilliant" screen, this time with no snakey.
I can get into hboot to use fastboot and into recovery in TWRP but cannot get into the OS. I'm not clear as to whether this is a problem with hboot or the way the rom is installed but any suggestions or such about how i've gone about things and how to go about getting around this problem would be great! Gracias! :good:
Did you flash the correct boot.img?

Strangely, and by the luck of trial and error, I tried 2 boot images. The first was for CM10 (again, this was trial and error) and now i've just rebooted from the ViperX one and managed to get back in. Back up in progress! Phewww!!!!
You get my thanks for replying anyhow!

I installed a new rom that I ended up not liking as much as I thought I would so I restored to the nandroid backup I had previously made. Now when I turn the phone on it gets stuck at the white "htc Incredible" screen. I have pulled the battery and can get into recovery but when I try to turn it on normally it does not work. Anybody know how I can fix this?
Go into recovery, which you say you can do, and try your nandroid restore again. If that fails, it may be a corrupt nandroid. Worst case, wipe clean and flash the previous ROM that you know works and rebuild your apps and data.

Thank you very much. I could not restore to the backup I had made and I never thought to just go back to the rom I had on the SD card. Thank you.
Not trying to threadjack here but I have mostly the same problem so I thought I would just add it here. I was flashed Ruby 2.02 ROM and was just setting things up when my phone rebooted it would not get past the htc incredible splash screen so I read to pull the battery and try to reboot into recovery. When I tried to reboot into recovery my phone just vibrated 3 times then went dead. Did my phone just get bricked or what? ANY help would be awesome!

Can you still get to recovery now? If so, you are probably ok.
I am able to get into recovery but if I try to reboot from there it is still stuck at the splash screen. I think my sd card is not working right now, so I am not able to flash anything. Is my only solution a factory reset?

You need to boot recovery, wipe and flash a known working rom and start completely over. You really need to get a working card.
Well I flashed one and the problem didn't change so I am now flashing an older one of a different ROM that I hope will work.

Hello everyone. Start by saying that I have successfully S-OFFed and rooted this phone 510c.
I picked a pretty good rom Simonsence http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598058http:// Successfully installed it, then I found the remove data apn icon http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619372 flashed it and I didn't have service. I restarted the phone and it hung at the white screen with the green htc. I waited for about 10 minutes and pulled the battery. Ever since then I have had trouble getting anything to work.
1. Got into recovery and wiped everything
2. tried to install simonsence again and the phone went black then showed the htc screen again.
3. pulled batt back into recovery wiped again tried to install my backup the first time, still no go went black then showed the htc screen again.
4. (SCREAMING)
5. tried the backup again I get MD5 Mismatch
6. tried to install simon sense again. Now it's just stuck at installing update. it's been there for about 15 or so minutes.
Please help!

Ya, that ones absolute garbage. Idk why its still up. Use this recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229, then flash SSense again and all will be fine
Ok will do I'll check back in a bit.
I wish I could hit that thank you button a million times. And in my own words thank you so much.
I was getting soo frustrated.
Don't worry man. You helped me out too. Now I don't look like a **** this week
So I have a rooted HTC desire HD with Jellytime on it. All was working great till recently when it would shut down by itself. Today after I wanted to test a new boot screen from Rom toolkit I restarted it and while the boot screen worked great after it finished I see a black screen (backlit so I know its on). I tried going to the bootloader but after I try to go to wipe cache for example it restarts by itself and it gets stuck after the boot screen... Any ideas?
ok an update seems that if I go to the recovery via down button and power it lets me do actions. All this time I went to recovery mode when phone was shut down and plugged into a power source. I did a wipe cache and now it says android is upgrading and now it finished saying starting apps. Hope it didnt get stuck there because it keeps doin the cycle animation but doesn't do anything else.. I ll leave it be for a bit like this... :/ Had to restart it by removing the battery after 20 minutes... same problem as before still...
another update... just before it goes to a black screen when the boot screen finishes an orange light appears just briefly (where the green light appears when it charges)
Wipe everything (system data cache) and install a stock-ish ROM. What happens?

I flashed the rom again and wiped data and all seem to be ok now. I ll update this because I saw many people have similar problems... thanks in advance for any help!
Have the same problem.
I bought this with the problem that it keeps rebooting all the time.
I unlock the bootloader with htcdev, root with Easy Ace Tool, flashed the new cyanogenmod 11,
but did the same .
At least 3-4 rebooting before open normally.
I said that it must be ROM issue and flashed the KK-LegacyCarbon-4.4.
Did the things should be...flash the ROM and then the boo.img separately.
Now i have black screen and the only screen i am able to get is bootloader and the recovery 4EXT.
I reflased cyanogenmod back but nothing happened, any thoughts???
I was able to get my VS HTC One S-Off with Firewater, thankfully.
As I was trying to load Cyanogenmod, the Wipe Cache process seemed to take way too long >30minutes. I powered down and rebooted, and then loaded the cyanogenmod stable RC zip. The phone is now permanently stuck in the cyanogenmod boot loop, with the blue arrow going in a circle.
I can't even get it to power down successfully...but sometimes it will turn off and then go back into the same loop. I have gotten it to fastboot once, but I tried to wipe all the caches/partitions again, and reboot...and same loop.
Any help please?
=============
More info:
I was able to get into CWM v6.0.4.7 recovery. I'm was able to sideload the STABLE CM 10.2 for verizon htc one...and it seems to have installed. But I'm still going into a boot loop. The loop is different for the stable version than it was for the release candidate...just a different CM logo and circle. So that's how I know the CM 10.2 stable loaded effectively. It rebooted on it's own one time after 10 mintues of looping, but still stuck.

It's the recovery, I'm 99% sure of it. I had the same issues that you described and resolved it by flashing CWM 6.0.4.4.
You should be able to find it somewhere on the forum but if not I have a copy on my FTP here: http://www.radracer.us/otp/droid/recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-m7vzw_2.zip
Once you flash the new recovery do a data/cache wipe as you usually would and then try loading CM once more. The data/cache wipe should be almost instant.(<60seconds)

After trying a few other roms unsuccessfully, I read somewhere about a CM11 Nightly that was very stable. I wiped everything 3 times, sideloaded it, and voila...it's working fine right now.
Thanks for all the help...I'm finally on Cyanogenmod...which has been evading my phone of choice for so many years!
So, I'm one of those right now. After extensively researching, this is what I have. I very much appreciate any help.
I installed Cyanogenmod 11 on my M8, booted into it nicely, rebooted into recovery and found that I could no longer boot back into the system. When I try to install a rom the recovery reboots. If I do succeed in wiping and reinstalling before it reboots, the phone will still not boot past the htc logo where it says dont redistribute and all that, the red text page.
I can get into fastboot, and like I said recovery is currently limited. I've tried re-flashing recoveries through fastboot, I have tried to re-flash the ROM, I am not sure what to do now.
Any help, again, is appreciated.
Thank You.
