Hey guys, mods I'm sorry if this is the wrong section.
I currently use touchless controls paired with commander app and Tasker to skip tracks on my android phone. It works most of the time but not always. I just say "ok Google now, skip track" and presto chango pandora or Amazon will skip to the next song.
I always have my phone paired to a bluetooth speaker in a cabinet in my bathroom. Without placing my phone in a waterproof bag I'd like to take it another direction. I want a bluetooth remote, maybe bluetooth 4.0. Ideally waterproof. But I would have no issue if it wasn't waterproof. I would feel more comfortable having that in the shower or tub than my phone.
Plus I'd have the ability to pause, adjust volume etc.
So. Anybody out there have or know of a solution?
Also if anyone has any other ideas, maybe a waterproof speaker that has media controls on it, I would be open to that idea. I'd just prefer not to have something that constantly needs moved and plugged in.
Thanks!
Edit :
Motorola has this on sale for $9.99
http://www.motorola.com/us/accessor...ndroid/rz100-bluetooth-remote-retail-kit.html
I have read that it is compatible with kit kat. I could just use an app that let's volume keys be reprogrammed to skip the song. Then if I got a call I could use this as an auxiliary handset I guess? Just put it in a waterproof bag?
I've been looking for something similar to use on my motorcycle while riding. I have the bluetooth receiver, but no way to control the device while riding. Touchscreens don't work through gloves, nor do I want to mount the phone in a visible place and have to play with it (not that you can see the screen in the sun anyway).
I ran into the following Amazon products that appear to work, but none seem to be waterproof or resistant. However, you could just put them into a Ziploc bag and use them that way:
http://smile.amazon.com/Scosche-controlFREQ-Bluetooth-Wireless-Control/dp/B00DL4CH2G
http://smile.amazon.com/Square-Jellyfish-Bluetooth-Samsung-Android/dp/B00K6ZTDNO
http://smile.amazon.com/iSimple-Portable-Wireless-Smartphones-Bluetooth/dp/B00KPZN5UC
If you (or anyone else) run into other similar suggestions, I'd love to hear about them.
Sad thing is, I already have an iPod setup with a Scosche branded wireless controller that works well. It has a water-resistant wristband and a dongle that plugs into the ipod dock connector to control it. This works great, but iPods don't have Spotify, hence why I'm looking for a new solution. And I'm concerned when the iPod dies, I'll have no solution at all.
Also, there are many bluetooth "shower" speakers available as well, which are waterproof and have built in speakers. I can't use such a device on the motorcycle, as a speaker won't pipe sound into my helmet (and I already have a system for that)... but you mentioned you would consider this, hence I suggested it...

Hello, can anyone recommend a good Bluetooth Stereo headset. It must be an earbud type, allow change of headset and most importantly chargeable via usb cable. Any ideas?
Thanks
Darry.
Hi Darry,
I have the MotoROKR S9 that I am fairly happy with. Tried the HT820 but wasn't happy with the fit.
I can tell you that the sound will cut in and out if you keep your phone/source in your front pocket. It does explicitly say this in the literature, too. You'll have to get creative where you keep your phone.
It does operate the volume, track, pause, etc. very well, haven't tried the voicecall function yet.
I get a very full day out of a single charge (using the same miniUSB that my phone uses).
I spent a long time looking for a BT unit that would allow me to use my own earbuds but caved on this unit after having salesperson after salesperson look at me like I was talking Greek...
Good luck!
Thanks B73C, I'll take a look at this one.

I just bought a 2010 G37x it is fully loaded with bluetooth, navigation, sunroof, the works. Normally the bluetooth in cars are just for voice to talk handsfree, Not this car. When the salesman ran down the features with me he said that it can stream your music Pandora, Last.FM, Slacker , or what ever your favorite music you stream right to the stereo with no wires attached. You can also control it with the controls on the stearing wheel (Safety). I must say this is one of the best acceseroies I got for my EVO (and for me). I drive a lot so I love listening to something different this is the best way to go.

LOL , no 30% discount code but if you have USAA banking their car buying program will help you negotiate the car price. The program puts the car at invoice price which is about $5k under MSRP. Thats pretty good discount
I have a Pioneer z110bt in my Solstice and I think I can stream music, not sure about Pandora. I would LOVE that option. I'm getting tired of the repetitiveness of XM. But, your new accessory!
Any of the fully bluetooth integrated car systems would be good.
I have a 2010 Mazda 3 with all the upgrades and it works wonderfully with the EVO. It is soo much better than my iPhone was that it is almost shocking.
Suggestion: use Meridian as the MP3 player and encode at 320k with Joint Stereo (lame or Frau encoder). That way, you will get a pure MP3 stream and playback with the Car Stereo DAC doing most of the work. Most car audio systems (even component ones) don't really warrant the use of FLAC files.
Would be lovely if we could get some working USB host with drivers for use with many popular aftermarket USB touch displays and use some USB->spdif/i2c converters. Sven's stuff is turning out to be tres' cool to look at. Custom hardware needed for integration would be pretty simple.
Yeah, any of the newer cars should offer bluetooth phone/media(A2DP) integration as an option. Would be awesome to get the Talk to Text going through the car bluetooth and Voice command system! Ahhh dreams.....
As always - just drive and please do not text. THX!
shoulda got the coupe.
Actually you can add this to any car. Check out the Parrot Kit. I have it in both our vans, can stream audio, voice dial the works. This is the company that licenses the kits to OEM...

My Sony deck does all this same stuff. It cost like $200, and I think there's a cheaper model with a smaller screen that has the same functionality. Not sure if you can do the buttons on the steering wheel thing with it, my car doesn't have them.
For the rest of us,
I had an Ipod hookup installed in my car. They sell female dock to 3.5mm male cables all over. I picked mine up on ebay, and I've also seen female dock to male 3.5mm + microusb (or whatever this thing uses)
Have any idea if this works on an 08?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You can always add on, but there is nothing equal to having the controls be solid and in the steering wheel. The alpine and other equivalent decks do offer a lot, but none seem to integrate as well or even attach easily to the built in wire system.... one more reason to keep your stock deck and use LOD's connected to small amps in the car doors, etc.
Next step - make a plug in tablet attachment for EVO....

I own the same vehicle, so do tell how I can stream music from my phone to my car without using the line in jack (which while works, doesn't allow me to adjust anything while driving).
Assuming you bought the bluetooth option:
1. Press the "speaking" button on the steering wheel
2. Say "setup"
3. Say "pairing options"
4. Say "Pair"
5. Pick a 4 digit pairing code and say it aloud (make sure that your bluetooth is on and is discoverable)
6. In the bluetooth pairing menu (under settings > wireless > bluetooth settings) hit "mazda"
7. Enter in the 4 digit pairing code
8. You are connected! (will see a phone and a music icon it the HUD)
Now every time you get in the car with the bluetooth on it will auto pair with your car when you turn on and go.
Next step - program in all your fav numbers for it to call automatically (do so while connected to the car).
Use Meridian and MP3 files. All of teh controlls from teh next track to the play and pause will work wonderfully and turn the volume on the phone all the way up. You will never top 35/62 for volume - PROMISE!

Yeah I got that accessory, but it sucked.
They wouldn't let me return it, so I don't know what to do with it. I just threw it : /
The Legend, the Perfection, The HTC Evo 4g. This is the story of a phone so great, a story of HTC saying, "This phone is so magnificent, so revolutionary, that I'm going to wirelessly attach an Infinity to it."
The other scientists exclaimed, "You mean you will add the capability to sync your phone to the new Infinity???"
The HTC Grand Creator slowly raised his eyes, and in a voice just over a whisper, he said "No... we will sync an Infinity to this phone. The Infinity will be.... the Accessory!!!"
Minds were blown on that fateful day...
anyone know of an aftermarket bluetooth kit that will allow steering wheel music control in an acura / honda?
Well, usually this involves going to the car dealer and having them install a new steering wheel with the controls and having a compatible deck that plays nice with external remotes/controls (usually fairly expensive decks) or some sort of Parrot brand integrated control.
Most simple bet? Get a Bluetooth car kit with remote that attaches to the steering wheel and a bluetooth receiver that does A2DP with either FM or Line-out (preferred)
Go to your local customs shop and ask around, there tend to be a lot of acura/honda/toyota/infiniti compatible stuff.
Hi,
Is it possible to change tracks playing on the device by using the handsfree? It pauses and changes volume, but doesn't change... tried double and triple taps even...
Regards.
Salman Khalid.
my Jabra Halo will usually do it, not if the connection doesn't go through correctly, sometimes I only get play/pause sometimes I get a2dp & play/pause, other times I get a2dp and full remote control.
I blame the headset though since it isn't very consistent even with things like letting you know when it is charged or needs a charge.
I ordered the Jabra Rythm corded handsfree and also the Jawbone Icon bluetooth... hopefully both'll allow this. But what i don't understand is why we can't do it with the out-of-the-box HTC headset/handsfree?
I've got so many AC>Micro or Mini USB adapters and I'm using the USB Cables from my HD2 & Nook, so the accessories are still sitting in the box never touched, other than looking at the AC adapter through the plastic to see if the design was cool, it's not.
HTC's trained my not to expect anything good from the headsets, just cracked the box again to see if the earbuds look any more comfortable than past devices, marginally so, left in the plastic looks like they'd hurt after a while, maybe they sound good.
Hello,
I just wanted to start a thread about what types of bluetooth accessories Galaxy Note users such as myself use on a day to day basis. Bluetooth is an integral part of technology these days i just wanted to share what i have as of right now and what i plan to get in the future.
Currently, I have a Jawbone Era Silver Lining Bluetooth Headset and a Samsung HM5000 Bluetooth Pen Headset. I use my Jawbone Era whenever I'm driving, listening to music, and watching movies. I bought The HM5000 for those times when ear starts to feel sore from the Jawbone and the HM5000 just looks snazzy to use. (I'm currently trying to figure out a way to make a mold for a micro usb cap that can double as a capacitive stylus tip so i can use it as an actual pen, anybody knowledgeable in this pls let me know and thanks in advance)
I plan on purchasing the Sony Smartwatch and the Sony Wireless Headset Pro in the near future as soon as Sony gets off their butts and actually release the Wireless Headset Pro and not promise it will be released 30 days after CES.
Kindly share what ya'll got and what your opinions on the matter are for all those other bluetooth headsets out there.

I have a pair of Plantronics Backbeat 903+ headphones and love them. Great sound and great battery life.
Because they sit in your ear they can get a bit uncomfortable after a couple of hours.
The only thing I don't like is that there is a lot of latency with them (I didn't realise BT headphones would have so much latency when I got them) which makes playing music apps or games where your need your screen input to be in sync with what you hear not really viable. I use wired headphones in those situations.
I have a Buffalo BT mouse which is good.
I'm awaiting delivery of the Rii Mini keyboard. Should be any day now...
Sony Wireless Keypad
Sony Wireless Keypad also works.
1. Jaybird Freedom headphones. Closest thing to sweatproof I have been able to find for my workouts.
2. Motorola S-10HD. Nice sound and comfort but can't take the sweat like they claim
3. Samsung HS2000 earpiece. Cheap, reliable and comfortable but that Samsung specific app for speaking emails and such is crap.
4. Zephyr HxM Heart rate monitor. I run and bike and this lets me record my heart rate and strides with Endomondo or Sportstracket
5. OBDPros OBDII adapter. I can use the Torque app to monitor and communicate with my car ECU.
6. Microsoft comfort 5000 keyboard. Love my ergo bluetooth keyboard.
7. Microsoft bluetooth mouse 3000. It works, nothing special.
8. Apple magic mouse. Love it.
9. Various bluetooth to serial adapters for engineering nerd stuff.

Among the bluetooth accessories I have the one that I like the most is the nokia stereo headset http://reviews.cnet.com/headsets/nokia-bh-103-headset/4505-13831_7-33707311.html
Why I like it ?
- It connects automatically when ever i turn it on
-Turns off automatically after i turn the bluetooth in my phone off. This saves battery. Hence saving a lot of battery.
It lasts more than a week after a week of charging on a regular use.
Even if i dont use it for a few weeks it preserves battery well.
Have not seen such good performance in any other bluetooth device.
I'm using this bluetooth keyboard by Ednet and it's working great (including touchpad) with Gingerbread and ICS:
http://www.ednet-gmbh.de/?lang=en&page=1&cat=10,20,4&artnr=86270
I'm especially liking its medium size, as there are many "mini keyboards" out there that are *really* mini... ;-)
There's a German review at Tom's Hardware:
http://www.tomshardware.de/Ednet-Bluetooth-Touchpad-Keyboard,testberichte-240861.html
I connect mine all the time when I'm driving with my car's Blue & Me system, a collaboration between FIAT and Microsoft, based on the Windows Mobile for Automotive platform.
Voice call functions work great, but have not tried the SMS reader feature yet. This is a feature where the car will have the option to read incoming SMS out loud through the car's speakers. It works with a VERY limited number of phones.

Nokia J headset
Works effortlessly, holds a charge forever.
voice-guided set up and prompts ("Connected", "Call ended", etc.)
I have this clipped in my shirt pocket and take all calls on it. Activates, connects, and takes call in the time it takes to get it into my ear.

Wow! I was looking for a in-ear mono BT headset and somehow missed on the Nokia J.
Did some research on this headset. Looks very good. Thx for the tip!
skome, Are the aditional earbuds (the ones with hooks) also in-ear? Do you have any complains at all?
Does anybody know of a Bluetooth device where I can controll my music like the "s pebble"

The only bluetooth accessory I use on a daily basis is my MBW 150.
Love the thing. Bluetooth media controlling over AVRCP, vibrates on any notification I want it to, caller ID, shows who messaged and can read off the entire text if I want. AVRCP capability was the primary reason I got one, but I find it much much more useful than I initially thought I would.
I'll also add, hardly affects battery life on my Note. I never, ever turn bluetooth off.
The OLED screen is fading unfortunately, but the Pebble Watch is looking mighty promising so I'll be snatching one up as soon as it goes up for sale (missed getting a spot on Kickstarter).
7+ day battery life, e-Paper display, vibrates for notifications, media controls, and is totally customizable.
Looking right forward to it.

Right now you can get a MBW 150/200. Supports only that profile for media playback, so you have a media controller on your wrist.

No complaints. If I had to come up with one, it's that the buds are a little different from all the extras I have lying around. My spares tend to be a bit too loose.
I didn't get any buds with hooks, huh. I haven't needed them and I cycle to work, walk around a lot, etc. It's light and stays in my ear.

I use use and love the Nokia BH 214. It's a clip, controls music like the pebble. It has a mic on it so if a call comes in the music is paused and you can answer and talk normally.
I have some moderate-sized headphones it handles well. It's rechargeable and holds charges for days.
Availability? Nokia is not long for the world....
I promise no more Nokia ads!

Would it be possible for our phones to have a FM transmitter so we can wirelessly play music through our car without a cord/attachment? Or does our phone simply not have the software to be able to?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I think it's more an issue with hardware, not software.
Luckily, if you search Amazon, there are a lot of cheaper ones you can find that work pretty well. I unfortunately have a car deck that does not have the AUX input (it does allow me to plug my ipod in through the glove compartment though) so I know what you're going through.
Ummmm... Ok?
I also do not have an AUX input, but today I just installed this into my car (the itrips, etc. just didn't do the job) and I am loving it. It wasn't as smooth a install as I would have liked, but the quality is far superior to the wireless ones.

There are many 'Headphone jack' FM transmitters out there.. Most by Belkin, Scosche, Koss, etc will be along the same quality and roughly the same $40ish bucks. There are actually a couple Bluetooth visor-clip handsfree adapters now that have the Bluetooth music profiles and an FM transmitter built in if you dont want an extra dongle hanging out of the phone. I have a Jabra laying around that does that and it worked pretty well.. I used it before I bought a built-in speakerphone kit.
--- Umm seriously, why do I have to wait 5 minutes to edit my own post? That's just stupid.
I bought a belkin for my sister for her birthday and had to return it because the sound is terrible but then I found one at walmart for about $30 in the automotive department and it sounds as crisp as if is connected in an auxiliary jack, it also as a usb port to charge your phone and if I am not mistaken it can mount your phone giving it control, and if you have a well placed light or charging position it would be convenient, it also has slot to mount a regular sd card directly... it has a display with controls and remote control included.
world wide web dot walmart dot com /ip/Scosche-FM-Transmitter/16652629
I bought an install kit like the one posted from amazon. It puts a little ground noise in the speaker, especially if I use the charger simultaneously. It's all strapped in, inside the console, and my six foot cord comes out of a small hole in the back the cd pocket under the radio.
The right way to do it would be to power the modulator directly from the battery, not the radio fuse. And maybe even a power-line filter depending on how the modulator acts. But who has time for that?
