25/5/11 DefiniteGuide: How to Install NAND Android on HTC HD2 w ClockWorkMod Recovery

After a lot of reading, I collect the following, just for my own aid. I hope it will be proved useful to others.
I' ve just gathered all this information. All thanks goes to all those nice guys that spend time & put effort to find out all these procedures.
I'm just a bug.
(A few posts after this one, in the same thread, you can find the following guides:
How to Install NAND Android on HTC HD2 WITHOUT ClockWorkMod Recovery
&
FLASHING A NEW NAND ANDROID ROM OVER A PREVIOUS ONE (without clockwork mod)
&
FLASHING A NEW NAND ANDROID ROM OVER A PREVIOUS ONE (with clockwork mod)
At the end of this post you can find the neccessary files to download.
So here it is:
How to Install NAND Android on HTC HD2 with ClockWorkMod Recovery
(updated 25 May 2011)
Prerequisites
HSPL3 ~ SPL-2.08.HSPL or HSPL4 (Better use HSPL3. HSPL4 still has issues or errors on some devices, so use it at your own risk).
Radio that support 576 RAM (ex. radio ROM 2.15)
DFT MAGLDR Bootloader
ClockworkMod Recovery
It's advisable to copy the NAND Android ROM zip file to the root of your SD card, before start, because some people face problems to do this after doing the first steps of the process. If you don't do it then you can do it later using a card reader or doing this:
In MAGLDR choose option: #4 USB Mass Stg
or
In CWM choose option: mounts and storage option
Make sure that you have all the prerequisites installed.
STEPS:
A1: Install HSPL3
or
A2: Install HSPL4 (HSPL4 still has issues or errors on some devices, so use it at your own risk).
B: Install radio ROM 2.15
C: Install MAGLDR on HTC HD2
D: Install ClockworkMod Recovery (2 methods, choose the one you like)
E: Install NAND Android on HTC HD2 with ClockWorkMod Recovery
A1: Install HSPL3
Prerequisites
* Windows Mobile Device Center installed on Windows Vista / Windows 7 or
* ActiveSync installed on Windows XP
* You must have any SPL version from this list on your device:
o SPL 1.42.0000
o SPL 1.62.0000
o SPL 1.66.0000
o SPL 2.07.0000
o SPL 2.08.0000
o SPL 2.10.0000
(To check your SPL version, hold the Volume Down button and do a reset)
You should have this SPL version unless you are using the latest 3.14 ROM with SPL 3.03.0000. No worry, just downgrade your Windows Mobile ROM from v3.14 to v1.66 will do. Download HTC HD2 v1.66 ROM. Then downgrade your phone from SPL 3.03.0000 to SPL 1.42.000.
Step by Step Guide
1. Power off your phone.
2. Press volume down button (don’t let go) and power on your phone.
3. It will load into bootloader.
4. You should get ‘Red, Green, Blue and White’ screen with SPL-1.42.
5. Take off the battery.
6. Power on your phone.
7. Connect USB cable from PC to phone after Windows Mobile loaded.
8. Select ‘ActiveSync’ and click ‘Done’.

9. Open HSPL4.zip with 7-Zip.
10. Copy HSPL4.exe to desktop.

13. Click ‘Yes’ if User Access Control prompt up.
14. Bootloader will be loaded with USB status during starting of installation.
15. Select 2.08HSPL or 3.03HSPL. (This is to prevent people with 1024LEO's installing an incompatable version and bricking their device).
16. Click next
17. When its finished the phone should be rebooted and load into Windows Mobile.
18. Click ok to terminate program
19. Disconnect USB cable from phone.
20. To verify, power off your phone.
21. Press volume down button (don’t let go) and power on your phone.
22. It will load into bootloader.
23. You should get ‘Red, Green, Blue and White’ screen with SPL 2.08 or 3.03.
24. That’s all.
B: Install Custom Radio ROM
Prerequisites
* HSPL3 ~ SPL-2.08.HSPL
In order to flash custom radio ROM, you need to have HSPL3 installed on your HTC HD2. By the way, I used Radio Leo 2.15.50.14 on my guide. You can use it or any other HTC HD2 Radio ROM version.
HTC HD2 has 576 MB physical RAM but was reduced by software to 512 MB only. And custom Windows Mobile ROM + radio 2.07 or above can unlock it to be 576 MB again. Certain custom Windows Mobile ROM need higher radio version than your phone. And NAND Android requires it too. So you need to install custom radio ROM (if you don’t have the correct radio version).
Step by Step Guide
1. Power off your phone.
2. Press volume down button (don’t let go) and power on your phone.
3. It will load into bootloader.
4. You should get ‘Red, Green, Blue and White’ screen with SPL-2.08.HSPL.
5. Take off the battery.
6. Power on your phone.
7. I have R 2.06.51.07 at bottom of the screen with green HTC Logo.
8. Connect USB cable from PC to phone after Windows Mobile loaded.
9. Select ‘ActiveSync’ and click ‘Done’.
10. Open Radio Leo 2.15.50.14.rar with 7-Zip.
11. Copy CustomRUU.exe and RUU_signed.nbh to desktop.
12. Execute CustomRUU.
13. Click ‘Yes’ if User Access Control prompt up.
14. Follow onscreen instructions to install.
15. Bootloader will be loaded with USB status during starting of installation. (~10 minutes)
16. Phone will be rebooted after installation finished.
17. You should have R 2.15.50.14 at bottom of the screen with green HTC Logo.
18. Disconnect USB cable from phone.
19. That’s all.
C: Install MAGLDR
In order to install NAND Android on HTC HD2, you must install DFT MAGLDR Bootloader first. And the good news ~ both LEO512 and LEO1024 are supported. This means US T-Mobile HD2, Europe, Asia and the rest of the world’s HTC HD2 are supported.
Note – by installing MAGLDR, you cannot boot into Windows Mobile anymore. So everything on your phone is gone…
Prerequisites
* HSPL3 ~ SPL-2.08.HSPL
* Radio that support 576 RAM
No worry, Android on NAND is working. That’s the reason we install DFT MAGLDR Bootloader on our HTC HD2, right? And we will be able to load the latest Windows Phone version (if we are crazy...) when the ROM comes out. Okay, let’s get started. If you don’t have HSPL3, please install it first. And aslo install radio ROM 2.15.
7. You should have R 2.15.50.14 at bottom of the screen with green HTC Logo.
8. Connect USB cable from PC to phone after Windows Mobile loaded.
9. Select ‘ActiveSync’ and click ‘Done’.
10. Open DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113.rar with 7-Zip.
11. Copy MAGLDR113 folder to desktop.
12. Enter MAGLDR113 folder.
13. Execute ROMUpdateUtility.
14. Click ‘Yes’ if User Access Control prompt up.
15. Follow onscreen instructions to install.
16. Bootloader will be loaded with USB status during starting of installation.
17. Phone will be rebooted after installation finished.
18. DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded then.
19. Disconnect USB cable from phone.
20. That’s all.

Good Luck
Just below are the files where you can download directly, exept for the radio, that you can get it here: Radio Leo 2.15.50.14
(If you are going for the 2nd method of ClockWorkMode, then depending on what type of roms you plan on using, you should download the partition size based on the following:
150MB Partition - For bare roms including CyanogenMod, AOSP, and MiUI
[*]250MB Partition - For Standard sense roms including Desire and EVo based ROMs, can also be used for some squashed HD builds
[*]400MB Partition - For Larger roms including unsquashed Desire HD and Z roms, ROMs REQUIRE data2sd for EU HD2 with 512MB NAND)
Well played sir and thanks for putting in the time to write this guide. Perhaps a passing mod would care to sticky this, either here or in a HD2 forum?
BTW, have an E-cookie for what is probably the best 1st post i've ever seen here
Totally agree. Even though I personally don't need this guide, I've still thanked you because I appreciate the time and effort you've put in, and that's just a brilliant 1st post!
Welcome to xda mate
+1 ....awesome Ist post, very useful for many.
Great guide!
Dear friend Gn,
thank you for your guide it is very detailed and precise but despite that fact
my ignorance(or stupidity) did't let me make the work. My mem is still 448mb, i thought after making the first two steps i'll had 576 of mem but it didn't work. At the first place i had 1.44 rom then i have change it in 1.66 with radio 2.15 but all that after installing Hspl.oops!!.
So now i have no idea how to proceed and put the android nand on. Can you help me please?
Thank you in advance
I think by memory he meant ROM not RAM
Since the first guide was useful to some people, I'm posting another one: How to Install NAND Android on HTC HD2 without ClockWorkMod Recovery. The first three steps are the same. All this stuff is not mine. I've just gathered other peoples postings. So all thanks shloud go to them. I'm just a bug.

Maybe the next steps are not obligatory, depending on the ROM you are going to install. In my case, I didn't have to follow the rest of the process, because the ROM I've used, has done the job itself and my phone was ready to work. (I've used CleanDroid and I had PERFCET results. Very light, clean and stable ROM. I've installed 30-40 apps and still is stable, alive and kicking.)
13. DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded then.
14. Use volume down button to go down to 3. Boot AD NAND.
15. Then press call button to load NAND Android.
16. Disconnect USB cable from phone.
17. Follow onscreen instructions to setup Android settings.
18. That’s all.
Alsomaybe the next steps are not obligatory.
To make auto boot to NAND Android.

3. Use volume up button to go up to 10. Services.
4. Then press call button to load Services Menu.
5. Then press call button again to enter AutoBoot settings.
6. Then press call button again to enter Boot source settings.
7. Select 3. Android from NAND with call button.
8. Use volume up button to go up to 10. Services again.
9. Then press call button to load Services Menu.
10. Then press call button again to enter AutoBoot settings.
11. Select 2. AlwaysMenu with call button.
12. Press power on/off button to select NO at Show boot menu always at boot?
13. Use volume up button to go up to 11. Reset.
14. Phone will be rebooted and enter NAND Android automatically.
15. That’s all.
Good Luck
install fresh Android ROM over dual boot hd2
I've set up dual boot to android and WP7 on my HTC HD2. I now wish to go back to only ANdroid on my phone. What are the steps for that. As my SD Card is partitioned will the new android rom be installed on just the NAND portion?
I need to know to what type of filesystem should I format my SD card so that i can install a fresh ROM.DO i need to go back to stock WM6.5 to install this.
Hi aditya_r12
Here's my newbie answer.
I think you can forget the sd card temporarily (remove it if you want),
flash a windows sytem (or just leave the existing win7) and then follow one of the above methods (the easier is the non clockwork mod), and you will be back to a nand android-only phone. After you can mount back your card with one or two partitions, or you can reparticion it or whatever.
I hope an experienced member, will also answer to you, since I'm an absolute ignorant newbie, which was lucky enough to manage to flash a perfeclty functioning android hd2, from scratch (thanks to the instructions of these nice people in this forum).
Good luck
Ho. Thanks for the reply. I finally got to installing nand android using clockwork mod. I used tadk29 to clear everything. Now I'd really like to know how to increase my internal storage
Its only some 250 MB right now. Is it possible to make it think that the storage extends to the SD card

Thank You~
I really need this faq but I thought there were newer versions of CWM that did not requier the "move to SD" files? Am I just totlly lost or is the faq older than those files?
Thank you for this guide. It will be very helpful for people like me (who don't read much unless encounter an issue) if download links will be available here also. So, it'll be a one stop shop guide..
I'm about to input the download links and the links for some video guides, as soon as I have the permission from the forum op.
Flashing a new nand android rom over a previous one
FLASHING A NEW NAND ANDROID ROM OVER A PREVIOUS ONE
(without clockwork mod)
Once you have flashed Magldr to your device you do not have to go through the whole process again if you want to flash a new NAND Android Rom:
1. Turn your phone off
2. Restart your phone by holding down the 'Power' button and keep holding it down until the Magldr Menu appears
3. Press the 'Volume Down' button to goto Option 4: USB Flasher and press the 'Call' button (far left of the 5 hardware buttons at the bottom)
4. Browse to the folder you extracted your NAND Android Rom files to on your pc, right click on Run DAF.exe (or install.exe if Daf.exe isnt listed) and select Run as Administrator (if using Windows Vista or Windows 7)
5. Read ALL the text and then select 'Next'
6. Read the information and select 'Next'
7. The installer will now detect USB and then flash your Android Rom to NAND
8. When flashing is complete your phone will Reboot and proceed to boot Android from NAND
That's all
Good Luck
Im a Evo user and trying to install Android on a buddys HD2. I am stuck at the pink stick together screen after step B completed and is trrying to redoot.. I dont think it wants to boot. Any ideas?
Apparently there are quite a few other benefits of installing CWM such as installing mods to your ROM. Unfortunately, I chose to install my present (and very stable) ROM without using CWM. Is there anyway to install CWM without losing my existing ROM?

[PIC GUIDE] Running Most MAGLDR ROMs On cLK / Switching To cLK from MAGLDR With ROM

Well, this is something that has been asked to me a lot. And to be honest, i was trying to get the answer to these question a few weeks ago. But i have finally prepared a step by step guide on both topic, Running Any Android Rom on cLK and Switching to cLK from MAGLDR. But first, lets see what cLK has to offer compared to MAGLDR. (It doesn't necessarily mean that cLK is better than MAGLDR or MAGLDR is better than cLK)
1) cLK is open source unlike MAGLDR, which means we can modify anything we want and make it better. And there will likely be a lot more updates than MAGLDR because everyone can use the source code and release a new version (for example: arif-ali's cLK 1.4.0.1)
2) cLK has native android like functions with fastboot.
3) cLK does not show any screen between the kernel and spl (the go go go screen), so it feels more like native android.
4) cLK supports fastboot mode (more native android feel)
5) cLK supports use of rom manager
These are just some things i figured out while using cLK, but there are a lots of other things that i have forgot to mention. This doesnt necessarily mean that you should use clk, magldr has a lots of other features that are better than clk like sd boot, windows support, boot menu, tetris D ?) and few more. But if you feel like switching to clk, then this guide should help you out.

excelent , excelent, thx for all.
I've got one question - why it is used 200MB partition when we do "CLK repartition ", and after that 150MB when we do "CLK Install recovery"? And the second part of the question is can we use other system size and what does "Install CLK" button do?

What to do now?
It doesn't work with CoreDroid 1.6 on my HD2.
Perhaps need clk at 390.

Hanbam, i had the same problem. I fixed it by installing the Google USB Driver. All instructions and links are here

Perhaps something to add to a FAQ?
Greets

Tried my luck with CMYLXGO's Stock Desire HD (v1.1.17) (a Sense ROM), and got into the Android boot logo loop. I also tried Tytung R10 ppp update (just a blind shot) instead of the charan_05152011_cLK_ppp_cache.zip file attached in the second post - still no go.
I am using RAFDROID HD 4.0.2! After changing to clk, I can install recovery and do a restore, but when it reboot, it just stuck at the white htc page.
A quick question, what's the file that we download at step 12,what's the use of it? and can i flash my rom in CWM without it?!
It's for improve stability on ppp mode with clk
actually I can make any MAGLDR rom boot by CLK including sense rom, but one problem I cannot solved. that is the wifi not working.
steps are as follows:
1.flash Task 29 with Radio 2.15.50.14
2.flash clk 1.4.0.1
3.flash cLK_Rcovery 3.2.0.0 (size depending on rom's requirement)
4.flash ROM(zip package)
5.flash charan_05152011_cLK_ppp_cache.zip
6.flash Kernel initrd.gz and zImage(take from Zip Rom)

if i don't flash charan_05152011_cLK_ppp_cache.zip,the wifi works normally, but GPRS or 3g is not working.
thanks, i really appreciate the guide. Its a nice easy to flow for those would count figure it out before.
i prefer clk over magldr. But i still get very frequent data drop outs in areas with low service. magldr has zero issues reconnecting. Clk normally requires a airplane mode or a reset to get service back.

i don't know the function of this file, and actually it is included in the patch package.
Situation is that:
if i don't flash charan_05152011_cLK_ppp_cache.zip,the wifi works normally, but GPRS or 3g is not working. if i use this patch, wifi not working, but GPRS or 3g become normal.

o The warranty will be voided after the unlock.
o Make sure your battery is charged to at least 80%.
o If you are unsure about any step, ask us in the comment section before proceeding further.
Thing to be Done
o All the files will be wiped after the unlock so take backup of all your important data.
o Enable USB debugging from the Developer options.
o Download and install the HTC Sync Manager from this link.
o Download Fastboot zip file from this link and extract the contents into a folder namedFastboot.
o Disable antivirus software on your system to avoid unnecessary interference.
Step-by-step Guide to Unlock HTC DESIRE SV Bootloader
o Go to the website www.htcdev.com and register yourself. Make sure to verify the email to complete the registration process.
o Login to the htcdev website and then go to the Unlock Bootloader page.
o Click the drop down devices list Under supported devices and select the option ‘All Other Supported Models‘. (select htc desire because htc desire sv will be not in the list)
o Click on ‘Begin Unlock Bootloader’ and select Yes on the confirmation screen.
o Acknowledge messages on the Legal Terms and click on ‘Proceed to Unlock Instructions’.
o The next page with unlocking bootloader instructions will give you 4 steps to follow: Disconnect mobile from the PC if connected and then switch off the device. Then pressVolume Down button and Power button to start the device in Bootloader mode. Once it’s in Bootloader screen, highlight Fastboot option and press the Power button. Then connect your HTC DESIRE SV to PC via USB cable.

Instead you go to the Fastboot folder which we have extracted earlier and hold the Shift key and at the same time right click on the free space. Select the option ‘Open command window here’.
o Windows command window will appear like ‘..\Fastboot>’. Now you need to enter the following command in the command line fastboot devices (This command will tell you whether your device is detected by your computer or not. If your device shows you can go ahead with the next step. If the device is not detected the command screen will not show any information and in this case you have to re-install the HTC Sync Manager and reboot your PC. Then redo the tutorial from the beginning.
o Keep open the command window. Then go to the third page of instruction in htcdev by clicking on ‘Proceed to Step 8‘ button.
o Follow the steps mentioned in the third page of htcdev site (from step 8 to step 10). When all the steps are done, click on Submit button.
o If all the steps are done properly you will get a message ‘Token Submitted Successfully!’ and the Unlock Key information is emailed to you.
o Open the email from HTC and download the attached file named ‘Unlock_code.bin’.
o Once the download is done copy the ‘Unlock_code.bin’ file to Fastboot folder.
o Now go back to the command window and the following command: fasboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
o Now the HTC DESIRE SV will get a message to Unlock bootloader. Press Volume up and select YES, then press Power button to confirm the action.
o Your HTC DESIRE SV will now restart and ask to complete the factory reset process. You can now disconnect your device from the PC.

Custom rom(htc desire sv)
INSTALLING CUSTOM ROM:
1. Fill the firmware to the memory card. (No need to unpack)
2. Turn off the phone. We take out the battery and insert back. Turn it pinching button VolDown + Power.
3.Select Fastboot, select Recovery, get into the menu CWM Recovery.
4.Use volume keys to select backup and restore and select backup. Wait for 5-10 minutes. CWM Recovery creates a backup of your system in the card catalog type clockworkmod / backup / date backup. Rename this directory is not recommended! To organize the directory must to 1GB of free space. If necessary, it can be transferred to and stored on a computer folder with preservation of architecture. Then, when you install custom firmware failed or that fails, you will always be able to restore the original state of the system: backup and restore → restore → select → confirm by Power button.
5. After a successful backup system, go to the firmware kernel.
From the archive IMG Galickijj sews kernel (boot.img) is mandatory. (manual firmware kernel header)
After flashing the kernel go to Fastboot, select Recovery, get into the menu CWM Recovery.
proceed to the cleaning system (Wipe, Wipe), the cache from the old firmware.
choose in CWM Recovery point to:
- wipe Data / factory reset

Precaution
PRECAUTION for Brick(HTC DESIRE SV)
This is really a necessary post which will help you how to prevent yourself from your mobile getting bricked
Mostly many people have told that volume down and power button pressing to enter recovery made my mobile brick and this is a main cause for getting bricked, because many people will press volume up/down and power sometimes it may make your hardware fail.
so to prevent this we have used techniques to get your mobile to fastboot without using buttons, just connect mobile via PC via USB on any mode(charge only, media storage)
Download this file
Link to download
and
Run fastboot.bat to enter fastboot
Run stock_recovery.bat to install stock recovery.img
Run cwm_recovery.bat to install cwm_recovery.img ( U can also replace cwm_recovery.img by any version supported for the device)
These files should be usually placed in c:\android as all the procedures are following steps with that.
BACK UP ROM:
Even backing up rom is necessary thing. a copy of backed_up rom should be in PC
If something went bad with installing custom rom , you can easily roll back to previous rom which you have backed up

INSTALLING CUSTOM ROM:
1. Fill the firmware to the memory card. (No need to unpack)
2. Turn off the phone. We take out the battery and insert back. Turn it pinching button VolDown + Power.
3.Select Fastboot, select Recovery, get into the menu CWM Recovery.

i717ruxmd1 problem to unlock

Hi guy!!
First I'm sorry for my english
I have Samsung note sgh-i717r(rogers canada), now I live in italy, I try to unlock, but nothing.
So the phone see the sim(contact and service in the sim) but not see the network(wind italy).
android version 4.1.2
1) Download Odin, CWM tar, and superuser zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1763896 Post # 3)
2) Install Odin
3) Copy superuser zip file to Phone
4) Start Odin and browse for the CWM tar file in the PDA section
5) Put the phone into download mode (VOLUME DOWN + POWER, then VOLUME UP)
6) Connect Phone to PC
7) Flash CWM with Odin
8) As the phone is rebooting, take out the battery. This is done to avoid the script install-recovery.sh from reinstalling stock recovery

10) Install superuser ZIP from CWM, you are now rooted
11) Reboot phone
12) Install root explorer or ES File explorer and enable root operations and /system mount on them.
13) Find /etc/install-recovery.sh and rename it to install-recovery.sh.bkp
14) Repeat steps 4 to 7
15) Reboot. You should now have CWM and Root.
then
Go to dailer screen. press *#197328640#
The screen will change to the hidden menu as soon as you hit the last # key in the dailer

Press [8]PHONE CONTROL
Press [5] SIMULATION
Press [6] NETWORK LOCK
Press [3] PERSO SHA256 OFF
Wait exactly 30 seconds
press the menu key on the phone and select back option. This will take you back to
NETWORK LOCK screen.
but this [4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALLIZ not appears
And if I install SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip the menu don't work(I can see main menu but can't navigate)
Do you have some solutions?
