New at nexus 7 v2 - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi guys, as tittle say I am new at this, now I have root and recovery but I want to update via ota and because of root and recovery, I think, ota doesn't flash. How can I get latest official android, I believe it is 4.4.4, and, if it possible, don't loose root and recovery? Is there a way? If don't, where and how can I get latest android and root and recovery on latest version?

[Q] Install An Official Update

I have rooted phone HTC Disare and when come out official update 2.3 , can i update it , i now lost my root but phone be working correctly ?
You mentioned you lost your root?
might be a safe bet to install the RUU if you want the official and are rooted...?
or install a custom rom version of it
I know that I'd lose my root when I install official update 2.3 but phone be working correctly any brick ?
I guess there's always a chance.
if you want to install an official rom on top of a rooted/custom rom then I'd guess RUU is the safest way

[Q] Rooting

I have stock ROM installed and stock recovery and I want to keep that way.
So my questions is, is it possible to root my device while keeping everything stock and get OTA updates without problems.
The only thing I need rooting for is to use Market Enabler.
You need to flash a custom recovery to root your phone but that won't enable your phone to get OTA udates (only notification), so when you get an update notification you have to reflash your stock recovery and unroot your phone to apply OTA updates.

If you wanted to unroot and so flash a stock recovery, how would you know which one to use? Is there a set recovery for each version of the phone, or is it the software version? So you'd just get the latest version you can find? For the phone of course. Thanks.

A dev just release exploit based rooting method, you might wanna to try it since you wish to keep stock recovery.
However, you might loose root access after OTA as they always patch the root access back. Simply use some root keeper or method from above(if working) to gain back root access.
UPDATES: seems we have solid devices, LINK. You may try it, though.

Stock rom? Custom recovery? Has your device received the OTA? The actual OTA zip should be in /cache if you received it on your device or you can download it from here. You will need a custom recovery to install/flash it, I personally use TWRP. You will also need the supersu installable zip on your device, you will need to install/flash it with your custom recovery. The OTA will cause you to lose the supersu binary which is why you will need to install the supersu zip.
The more info you give when asking a question will help in getting a worthwhile response.

[Q] How do we update if we've already installed TWRP?

Until we get a proper CyanogenMod for this phone I'm staying as close to stock as possible (plus root and Wanam). I'm rooted and installed TWRP, so how do I update to the latest ROM from T-Mobile?
To update OTA u need stock recovery. This goes for every phone.

Questions

I got 2013 nexus 7 WiFi with ,5.1.1 lollipop, I rooted it with chainfire, its rooted now and unlock boot. Working all good, I have not got a custom reocvrry? Is that fine? And also will ota updates work? If I update will my root go ?
You don't need a custom recovery. You will only need it if you want to flash a zip. You will need to do that to for example install s custom Rom og kernel.
Since you have rooted your phone you will no longer be able to get OTA updates. If you want to get them you will need to unroot first. To do that open the SuperSU app. Then choose settings and then full unroot. After you do that and reboot you should be able to get OTA updates again. If you install a custom recovery or ROM tho, you will need to go back to full stock as well to use OTA.
If I unroot then I need to do root again by auto root chain fire? And also the latest update is 5.1.1 so when next update? I mean on the nexus 2013 7 is there no last update?

in less than a week the nexus 7 2013 will be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. as long as you have an unlocked boot loader you should have no problem getting root again. you could try cf autoroot but I would either use the Nexus Root Toolkit or fastboot to obtain root again
