I'm about to receive my note 8 (Swappa) and it is the wifi version....I think its the 5100 model...the person said it is running kk.... does that mean the bootloader is locked?
I have the n2 and it wasn't locked ....I know some people got the n3 and w/o realizing when they took the update it locked their bootloader .....
I'm wondering if this one that I will get will have the bootloader locked....it is not coming rooted

An unlocked phone may be locked again?

I got an unlocked at&t fuze(touch pro) few days ago. I don't know how it was unlocked. I wonder if it may be locked sim again after upgrading a rom or radio?
Nope man. I think it has to do with the radio or something like that, not the ROM. But to be safe lets hear what more knowledgeable members have to say.
new roms or even radio roms don't relock phones
Fuse locked or unlocked?
How do I confirm that the phone I bought that was suposed to be unlocked actually is?
Thanks
You can install all roms that u want... and if you want to relock your phone, you have to do the work with a separate tool

Quick Post - SIM Unlock qestion

Dropped down to jelly beans to SIM unlock a phone for a friend. Got it to unlock and work fine, My question is after i do this can i up it to KIT-Kat and if i do will it keep the unlock?
Thanks
Once the phone is sim unlocked, it will not relock even after flashing ROMs and bootloaders.
I unlocked two note2 and three s3 and all five phones remained unlocked after upgrading to 4.4.2.

Unlocked verizon note 4 on swappa

Maybe I have missed it somewhere in the forums but I'm looking at upgrading out of my note 3. I lost root a while back. Now in my search for the next rootable phone I've come across a lot of UNLOCKED NOTE 4 VZW . What does that mean when it comes to root-ability? I understand you can unlock bootloader and you can unlock sims. What does it mean to advertise a unlocked phone and will it be rootable.

Be careful when buying an "unlocked" Note 4 (or any phone for that matter). The only model of the Note 4 than can be rooted is the Developer Edition. I suspect the term "unlocked" as used on Swappa means "SIM Unlocked", not bootloader unlocked. Only the Developer Edition Note 4s have an unlocked bootloader.

SM-N910V Questions

Hello,
First time poster. I just bought a refurbished unlocked Verizon Note 4. It is currently running Android Version: 6.0.1. I am interested in upgrading the OS to Nougat or Oreo (if possible) Do I have to root the phone to do this? I am not really interested in rooting, I just want to update the OS.
If I have to root, whats the easiest method? I read conflicting threads on the forums saying it cant be done with Verizon Note 4's. Some people say it can be done.
Thanks

Lol well you either have root and an unlocked phone or you dont have an unlocked phone. Hopefully you didnt get charged more for the alledged unlock. Unless you meant simlocked in which case , all verizon phones are unlocked and i hope you didnt pay more for it .

Sorry, when I said unlocked I meant SIM unlocked. I am from Canada and all our carriers simlock the phones while under contract. Anyways, is there a way to force upgrade the OS on these devices without rooting?

Not to my knowledge, but the root/bootloader exploit is for bpa1 which you can Odin back to or forward if applicable...couple of post recently with older bootloaders don't remember if you were one or not

Does anyone know an Unofficial Way of Unlocking the Bootloader and/or rooting the Moto One 5G (AT&T) XT2075-2?

Bootloader is not eligible for unlock (not at all surprised) for the XT2075-2. Has anyone found a way to unlock the bootloader or generate a bootloader unlock key (even if it is a paid service)? Worst case, it would be nice if there was a root exploit that could be used.
Well this is frustrating. I bought the unlocked version xt-2075-3, but received the ATT version (xt2075-2) It appears the unlocked version doesnt have 5G for USA anyway... So I am ok with the ATT version... But youre saying I cant root this thing? Wtf?
