[Q] Any untouched T-Mobile LG G3 ROM's out there? - T-Mobile LG G3

Hey guys, I'm looking for a untouched T-Mobile LG G3 ROM. I currently own a G2, but after using the Optimus G3 ROM on my G2 I can't go back to the G2's software. Is there any G3 ROM out there that has T-Mobile Wifi calling installed?
Thanks!

Use the lonely ROM base or look through the change log and use the one that looks the best for you. V1.2 should be stock stable + a few useful tweaks that aren't overboard. I'm assuming you will need to replace the boot.IMG since you are on the g2. And the stock camera will most likely need to be replaced since this phone uses laser focus but don't quote me on that.

Please don't start flashing G3 roms. You need to port it first add all the proper libraries and such and even then it may take longer than expected to get it to work.
Be safe when flashing, don't go randomly flashing G3 roms.

That is fantastic advice THAT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED I will not try to fight you on that but the g3 and the g2 should be close enough to flash each other as long as you stay away from mixing kernels. The only heavy lifting you would need to do with this port is use a stock (or modified) 4.4.2 g2 kernel, replace the camera app and change the DPI. With the stated three changes it would probably run silky smooth. Porting gets hairy when you try to port a brand new phone system to a phone that is 3+ years old or points the system image to a different partition (and or all the partitions are different).

It honestly used to be that easy until Android advanced and companies started adding more features.
Cloudyfa has been working about 2 months on porting a G3 rom and at points he has gotten stumped because he would add one thing and 50 other things would not work. It works great give or take a few random problems but it didn't take him a weekend.
I'm not trying to deter the OP but be prepared to work hard on getting things ported and such.
Using Cloudyfa's G3 kernel and camera(with proper libs) will possibly take some of the hardest things to do out of the equation.
As for the Wi-fi calling I believe it is tied to the phone apk or settings and you have to do a build.prop edit this however I'm not 100% sure on.

I learn something new every day! And the WiFi calling is located in at least the following places (probably a lot more):
Phone apk
WiFi calling apk
Settings apk
Framework-res apk
Policy jar
*edit* I just realized I mixed up and added some of the places WiFi tether is located but but I wouldn't doubt if WiFi calling is also in framework and policy.

The more things something is dependant on the more challenging it will become.
I remember when Sprint made SprintZone and network optimizer Mandatory on the S3 and it was tied to the settings, total **** move on their part.
It may honestly really be easy to port Wi-fi calling, I've never been too concerned by that since I don't make many calls and my data used to be faster than my internet.
Maybe once I get my G3 I'll try and mess around with my G2 and see.

yes, you did read all of the above posts right? I'm betting its not going to be worth the trouble but as long as you use the same boot.img that Cloudyfa has in his rom its worth a shot as long as you make a full nandroid including efs. If you think it is to much to tackle I could help you if you want to be a guinea pig.

I didn't get much of it, as I am still getting used to flashing ROM's. I have no idea what a nandroid is, efs or how to use a boot.img. At the most, I have been flashing zip's and kzd's on the computer. I was just assuming SOMEONE out there has had to make a G3 T-Mobile ROM so far. I mean, its been out for a while. I wouldn't mind being a a guinea pig if someone was to make a port, worse case scenario I can just boot into recovery and wipe/backup, right?

Ill tell you what go into twrp and make a backup (nandroid) and make sure efs (imei) is selected if it is not a option Ill find you a update zip that will make a efs backup for you. I can wip something up quick and you can test it if you feel comfortable doing that. It is 9:38 pm here I can have it slapped together by 10:30 as long as I keep it easy on the beer.

Nope I am going to compare cloudy's rom to my rom (the lonely rom) and see what needs to be changed. I am assuming the reason he had so many problems is because He used the international g3 system. I would bet almost nothing is going to need to be changed. Tell me when your backup is made. you should copy it to your pc to be doubly safe.
*edit*
you need loki so it might be a little longer than I had originally stated but not much.

I see a lot of "stock" ROM's that don't have Wifi Calling for T-Mobile, my bad. The Lonely ROM is only for the G3, right? I would imagine it wouldn't be flash-able on my G2, right?

It is a G2 port as of now but I am quadruple checking my changes. With these changes will come a new name and it will be for the t-mobile g2 only. Cloudy's rom didn't have anything special that I could see (didn't look into camera yet and when I do it will be my own work) so I just added loki to my build and the proper boot.img and some build prop edits. I will pm you with a link for the rom. you did make a efs backup right? It is very important you do this first.

[Q]Do these custom ROMs affect the global capabilities of the phone?

I'm traveling to Italy tomorrow and just want to make sure that by having rooted and flashed an ASOP ROM on it has not affected its ability to connect to the cell network out there. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
It will depending on the rom you use. I have been using Newt's rom's primarily and i know he has gotten both GSM and CDMA to work on some of his newer versions, you will have to check the changelog to see which ones work though,
Newts newest 3D 2.03 has the world phone capibilities..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231283
But i cant speak for ASOP, you might want to check the log to see if it is listed as working or not.
I haven't tested Global Mode myself but people are reporting SkyRaider Zeus supports it.
I can give a big thumbs-up to the ROM as a whole. I have been running it for a few weeks and haven't hit a snag yet.

Oh Oh, I appreciate the feedback but is not at all what I was hoping for lol...I just posted this question on the ROMs thread but its too late to do anything about it if it does not have it enabled, $#|T!!!! For argument sake I posted it was I traveling but when in reality its a co-worker(a manager) who is traveling to Europe and is he's gonna be pissed if he steps off that plane and has no service...I'll just try and blame it on the network out there i guess if worse comes to worse lol...thanks again!
Best to go with SkyRaider Zeus. Based off the stock shipped ROM, not a port.
Which Aosp rom do you have on your friends phone?
I've read in various places that CM 7 will work globally. Not sure about any of the others though.

i live abroad and the stock firmware works fine with local GSM carriers
you can just flash rmk Rooted rom which is the original firmware after removing bloatware, works exactly like stock ( no bugs at all )
and if needed he added a flashable zip including all removed app.
if you like sense 3 , in the Forum there a sense 3 Patch . i tested that rom myself with the Patch and its fine
there is many sense 3 Roms that Support Global Mode also. but in my opinion that rmk Rom is the safest ( no bugs at all )
## phone codes
+1 for rmk's stock ROM.
Make sure that the ROM you use will allow access to the ## phone codes.
Or at least put a stock based cleaned ROM on the phone and set it up and do a nandroid of it so if he needs to access those codes, he will have a workaround.
I found that the AOSP ROMs don't allow access to those codes.
So if you need to manually change any data settings you have to use a sense based ROM to make those changes, then flash back to the ROM you want.
The data settings should stay between flashes but I found that even with full wipe and flashing the ROM, then the nandroid, I still got a boatload of FCs.
Good luck ....
Yep, just depends on which ROM you download. Some do, some don't.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

there is a script or APK called Rom Cleaner in xda , check it

If a rom doesn't include FFC capability

Theres other camera apps that support it right? or do you just need to chose a rom that does have the capability?

What kind of ROM are you talking about? Because you won't find any Jelly Bean with FFC and market apps don't work either. Do not waste money or time looking for a FFC. It's not gonna happen. If you want a badass ROM that has the look, speed, and performance of a newer ROM with everything working, try this ROM out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141593
Throw the Next 3D launcher on that badboy and you're gonna be in good shape. Promise.
You can find lots of information here about this if you dig a little. There is a search box. Get familiar with that, and you'll learn a lot on your own. Just type random questions or shorten them to a key word or two. I've only been here for a few months, but I've ran through the basics and I'm getting familiar with other aspects besides user options.

It's cool bro. You can ask any questions you want. Don't hesitate. I might not be able to answer them all, but I can help you find an answer. As for finding out which phone model you have, go to settings, then about phone. Look at the model number. If it says PC36100 you have the Evo 4G, otherwise known as the OG. If it's anything else besides PC36100, you'll have to google it to find out what kind of phone you have.

The og (HTC evo 4g, aka supersonic) does have a ffc but it only has drivers for Gingerbread Roms. You have flashed roms from this forum I have tried helping you with some of your mms issues. If you had the lte than your phone would most likely be in sad shape. Flashing things not designed for your phone can cause big issues even brick it ( phone will never work again). As some users have found out the hard way already.
So plainly put you have an Og. Now this should have been the first question you asked before flashing anything.
Also I am working on a couple cricket roms for all the users on here. The first set will be sense based sense 1.0, 3.0, and 3.5. All with confirmed working mms and great battery life. I am also working on cm7, ics, and jelly bean.

Thank you again for your help gentlemen. I figured I had the OG but was starting to wonder when I read incorrect info saying the OG didn't have a ffc. I'm becoming more proficant in flashing roms and terms and what to look for in a Rom. A sense cricket Rom would thrill me as editing apns is not working. The only thing I've had work was a mazwoz everything cricket Rom, however as stated before the roms battery usage was 1% a minute, no Bluetooth capability, (which id rather over a ffc) .
With the newest recovery options, (especially including the usb toggle feature) bricking seems like it'd be impossible .

You know, soul hacker posted the Cricket mms apk that you can manually download and install yourself..... Its all in the same thread as Mazwoz Cricket ROM...... forgive me if I sound stupid, but 4.2 or 4.1 for what? I downloaded the apk in that ROM post of 4.2 copied it over to system apps, the permissions were already set how they should be rebooted and it would force close when I would try and open it .I even used Titanium Backup to try and restore it over it wouldn't restore, and tried using package installer and it would say parsing error or something like that. I'm currently running the digital karma rom v9.

Is there a ffc fix for this Rom? other roms I've seen got this working.
No FFC for any jellybean or ICS ROMs. Only gingerbread (2.3.5) ROMs will have FFC.
Also you will want to use an amon Ra style recovery. Cwm and twrp are not very good options for this phone. Diablo has a few themed versions you might like.

So after 2 weeks of trying to figure out MMS much thanks to wambo bomb and the rest of you in this thread for your patience with this newb I got MMS working on the fast and stable, (with Bluetooth) dirty unicorn ROM.(battery is bad which is why its been draining so quickly with other ROMs) I shoulda known the MMS 4.2 stood for androids version. For some weird reason I was thinking it was the mms's version. I find it interesting older versions of android have the FFC working though but not newer ones. Oh well I'd much much rather have MMS than FFC. If I had money to donate to you and the others I definatly would I'm sorry I don't though. As stated before I'm disabled and can't get on disability yet. If I do get on it I'll be happy to donate to all of you for your help. Many thanks again for educating me so I can help others in the future.

[Q] N7100 MI6 4.3 Touchwiz Port to N7105(and others) impossible? Insane?

Ok, so I downloaded Dr. Katan's MI6 ROM for the 7100 and with a touch of insanity installed it to my AT&T phone. IT BOOTED RIGHT UP!
All while using the stock 4.3 Kernel that came with it!
Whole ROM runs perfectly, I have WiFi and GPS and everything's great EXCEPT, no cell signal :crying: When I try to look at the APNs it says No Sim Card.
I flashed the AT&T modem again. That changed nothing.
So, I figured I'd follow a port guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40575946
It didn't work. Installs fine, but the phone just won't boot with it. Just sits there and vibrates occasionally with a black screen.
I figured since it's a 4.3 ROM, I should use a 4.3 base, so I used Beanstalk for AT&T (my daily driver, NOT a Touchwiz Rom).
Should I try it with the stock 4.1 Touchwiz ROM as the base? It seems counter-intuitive, but I could be wrong, as this is my first stab at this.
Since just the modem is the issue, is there one part of the porting that I should be paying extra attention to?
Unfortunately while typing this, I just discovered that the S-Pen isn't working either... It detects it's being removed/inserted, but it doesn't work on the screen.
I'm not seeing anything else on this topic other than "WHEN", "WHY NOT ME", and "THIS IS N7100 ONLY, IT'LL BRICK YOUR PHONE DON'T TOUCH IT GET AWAY FROM IT GO BACK TO AT&T"
Obviously it doesn't brick your phone and I don't want to until December if I can help it.
I'm no dev. I'm what could be considered a Script Kiddy at best, but I'll do all I can to make this work.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Strange that there's no actual developers on this... My attempts thus far have failed.

15. Reboot to Ubuntu.
Open dsixda's Android Kitchen
Decompile both boot.img/kernel
Open both init.rc files
In CM/AOSP kernel replace BOOTCLASSPATH by the one from PORT boot.img ROM
Save and recompile kernel
Use CM/AOSP modified kernel in your rom.

You can stop trying to port and start flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496292, it's officially leaked... That is if you have a AT&T Note 2, which I take it that you do after reading your post.

Not yet downloading now though, or attempting to... Then to figure out which way to flash it. Crazy I spent all day yesterday trying to port and flash different combo's of AOKP/CM 4.3 and N7100 4.3 messing with boot.img's and .co files and all that stuff, now this happens today, AWESOME! LoL

It's the little things. I had to reflash stock and reroot a couple hours ago, so this could've saved me a decent amount of time. Could've just flashed it right over the stock problems I was having.
Its a start, why im excited....theres hope! lmao
But hey, thank you...if I royally mess up i know i do not have to go through hoops to make it better

Sold my note 3 and decided to try out the G3, using the Tmobile variant here in Canada and working great! All bands supported with LTE. Definitely need to get used to this phone as in my eyes I'm seeing quite the lag and hoping maybe this stock rooted will help. Thank you
What's the easiest way to reboot into recovery using Stock Rom? Anyone...... Also what's the difference between this rom and the backup that I made when I first rooted?

You did some good work on that rom for the S4, it was definitely one of the better stock roms imo. I hope putting a rom together for the G3 goes smoothly.
Here ya go!
Advanced apologies if this violates any rules. Mods can remove attachments if need be.
@ThePagel - Sorry to jump your task, I figured you've had a busy day so I realized since I have a working G3, I can save you the trouble. Hope your bathroom turned out well
@COCODRILO45 - The QuickRemote.apk file can be found attached to my post. Enjoy :highfive:

LG Quick Remote APK for Optimus G Pro custom Lollipop 5.0.2?

Could someone please clearly explain how to install LG Quick Remote or any other stock app for that matter on a custom ROM running Lollipop.
I've browsed so many forums and people say different things and there's no coherency.
Please let us know how you did it, only if you have actually done it. Most LGQRemote.zip files don't work when flashed from recovery.
Regards

Tried this many times my friend. Unless we get help from a more experienced developer it is not going to happen. Earlier this year I went nuts trying to figure this out. Never did manage to get it done unfortunately.

Every QRemote zip outthere for this phone is for Kitkat or Jellybean, and that's the main reason why it's not working on Lollipop. I don't know if someone got those from other QRemote supported devices which got LP update and tried, but last one I saw working properly was madmack's zip.
I could try to make a flashable LP zip as soon as my exams finish (in a 3-4 weeks) and I find fully working ROM for LP (in progress, my ISP is going nuts) I could build and maybe support, because right now, my E988 is on Kitkat since CM doesn't want to accept existing patch for modem, and available versions are too old and buggy.
Does it mean that the remote app on the F240 running stock lollipop does not work on custom lollipop ROMs?
I don't know before I try, I'll have to download a F240 LP KDZ and extract it...

Not much, managed to get app started somehow but it won't work, crashes no matter which option I select. I'll see what I can do, so far I've managed to find needed framework files... now to find the rest. First time porting from stock so may take some time...
