Feeling a little cloudy today and not sure I am thinking clearly. a friend of mine bought a Note 2 from a shop in town and it has a custom 4.3 rom on it. He does not care about custom stuff and wants it to be stock. I am not familiar with Sprint Note 2 so I thought I would ask to be safe. I have Odin ready and have downloaded the latest Stock Rom from SamMobile. Is there anything special I am not thinking about before just applying the stock rom on top of whatever is already there?
I will wipe cache and such before applying the Rom. Is there anything I need to do beside the cache wipe?
My apologies for asking but I could not find a search that talks about this specific topic.

the attached page links you to stock firmware for all S3 models. flash via odin and have a great day. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625
also, my wife's stock/unrooted S3 had gps issues. i did a factory reset, flashed stock in odin, factory reset, wiped cache (in stock recovery) and she was all set. overkill, sure, but just making sure it stuck this time

I'm rooted with a custom recovery running M919UVUAMDB. Is there an easy way for me to update to M919UVUAMDL. When I tried the ota it said my phone has been modified and wouldn't proceed. I've been reading about people having issues rooting their phone after the they updated, so I'm thinking it may not be worth it to update at this time. I'm hoping I can just flash somthing to bring my phone up to date without the root blocking that was implemented in UAMDL. I have been having some issues and hope the update would resolve them. Can someone steer me in the right direction please? Thanks

I have the same question.
As do I. I'm thinking it'll be a flash via Kies, then re-flash TWRP, install the custom kernel and re-root.

I thought some of the stock rooted firmwares were zipped and could be flashed via recovery.... (why I didn't think of doing this on the old GS4 I have no idea, prolly because I wanted to keep my recovery stock -shrug-)
Either way wouldn't you need to get Triangle Away?

...in other words, isn't it possible to find a custom firmware that you can flash through recovery? (or since this is Samsung land, is this all through Odin? I remember on my Evo 3D I could find new custom firmwares in zip files and flash from recovery.)
and Triangle Away resets some kind of counter specific to some Samsung phones relating to custom firmwares.

he said he's already rooted and already has a custom recovery... so basically he needs to find a rom that is stock MDL but rooted(there are 2 in the and development forum) and flash it. that's it. I'm not sure why they wanted to update through Odin it kinda makes no sense.. cos they it'd be stock uprooted and then they'd have to root it again. AFAIK triangle away it's only used to reset the counter on the bootloader to see that you haven't installed any custom recoveries which you would only need if you were to send the phone back to tmo to have it exchanged. Otherwise you don't really need Odin unless you **** up a flash and then need to bring it back to stock fw and then root it again and do the whole process basically ODIN brings your phone back from a soft brick.

Has nothing to do with lazy. I ended up upgrading via Kies, flashing the custom kernel and then rooting.
Forgive my noobishness but I really dont know where to begin here. Ive had my note 2 since November and this is my first android device. Anyhow, I flashed several roms these last few months and I prefer the ATT Cleanrom versions the best. Today I will be flashing ATT Cleanrom SE 3.0 and after reading peoples comments ive come to realize that im still running stock baseband or pretty close to it. I always assumed the when I did I ROM upgrade that all necessary software came with it.
Anyhow, my current baseband is I317UCALK7 and I think UCAM3 just came out. What I basically need to know is how to flash this new radio and is there anything else that I should flash inorder to stay up to date?
Other than that, one other quick question, what is a firmware? In the section where the most current basebands are listed the firmware section is right below it and there is a firmware with the same name as the baseband, that I listed above I317UCALK7. I assume its a bone stock setup that is flashed with Odin. So of I need to go back to a stock setup I would need to 1. Flash a stock recovery, 2. Then do a Triangle Away 3. THEN do an Odin flash.
My apologies for the questions, there are still alot of things I dont know about the world of root and Im jist doing a bit on recon before trying something new. Thanks!

the quickest way to do it is to flash this md4 rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099. it will erase your phone and be back to stock. just read the thread and get the right one for your phone. there is another thread for stock mk3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541900 it will do the same but not install knox, just read the thread.

if you flash stock mk3 unrooted rom to your phone you will also install knox.. if you aren't sure what knox is, search in this forum. you can flash any rom and any version number you want it doesn't matter. md4 link i gave you will give you the option to update from there to the sprint latest rom version if you want. or you can stay on md4. but as i said, if you update to mk3 stock rom it will install knox!

it depends on the employee at sprint and how hard they look into your phone, but if they have to send your phone off to samsung, samsung will defiantly know! your best option is to just flash the md4 rom and not let it update to new version. take it by sprint and see what they say. if they ask why you haven't updated yet, tell them you don't want to, and if they have to send it off, more then likely your phone will come back to you with the newest rom and possibly, they might just send you a refurbished phone with newest rom back to you. but depending on your issues with your phone, installing that md4 rom might clear it up. good luck!
thank you so much

I sold my Note 2 for Sprint and I now just want to flash a stock Touchwiz ROM or near stock at least. I haven't used the phone in a few months and i've looked over the development forum but i'm unclear on what to flash. I remember seeing a stock ROM but I can no longer find it. I am currently on Dirty Unicorns 4.4.4, baseband L900VPAMA7. All I want is the easiest way to send my phone to the buyer with a stock or near stock experience. I want the easiest avenue because I do not want to brick the phone right before I send it out. I also have a nandroid of my first stock backup of Android 4.1.1 which I don't know if it is safe to flash. Can someone please steer me in the right direction? It would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the response.
From what I gathered and correct me if i'm wrong, simply flashing the MC2 Stock zip, it will unroot the phone and take me back to stock (what version of Android does it downgrade to? Will the phone be able to receive the updated versions of Touchwiz?). If I want to stay rooted, then i flash the root.zip file right after i flash the MC2 Stock zip? (Would this be able to get updates to Touchwiz?)
Are there any other alternatives to getting a stock experience?
I did this about 2 month ago and it went back to stock unroot...yes u will be able to update... also it u want to stay rooted then flash the root file right after before again before rebooting and it will stay rooted ...no if stay rooted u will not be able to get update.... If u reall wanted to stay rooted there's a few stock rooted rom .. link provided

If you have taken the ne2 ota or flashed it with odin DO NOT FLASH that file. If you have not taken the ne2 update than it is ok to use.
